HI folks. I just wanted to know whether i can upgrade/convert my GPRS phone (I Mate Jam) to EDGE/EGPRS. If yes then how and if not, why not? Plz help because gprs is pretty slow..........
No because it does not have Edge hardware support.
Ya Brit is absolutely right coz it is a hardware function just for eg: like ur 56k modem and a 128k modem which means by 56k modem u cannot get 128k of speed similarly by gprs u can get a speed of 40-64k and with edge it varies from 64-90k so u can get edge only if ur hardware is capable of that.

iam vijay from chennai india. iam facing a problem with my o2 xda mini. iam using airtelgprs.com as APN .it connects to my pc well. but i feel very slow while browsing more pages. the speed is showing 28.8 kbps. Is it possible to increase speed up to 56kbps? if so please help me my posting settings.

actualy it is dificult change 28 to 56k
if u r use linux to brow it is possible improve speed

Since i bought the Vox it was fine at first but now i hav a problm when connecting to any GPRS/EDGE network! If i go for a period of bwt 2hrs wthout using internet, wen i do try it wont connect. I hav 2 swtch phone off n then on again only then it worx PLZ HLP

iv got a SE x1 which makes a great modem for my laptop .. im using it now.. but the issue i have is on o2 i get a 500mb d/l limit per month, iv just brought a MBB dongle on voda .. the dongle is exceptionally poor, the dl is .24mbps and u/l .06
what i want to do is pop the voda sim in my x1 because i get speeds of 1-2 mbps u/l and d/l on my x1 ..
1st q is can i use a dongle sim card in my x1 and connect to the net ect? (iv put it in, picks up signal ect)

Don't see why not, I have done similar with a 3 broadband dongle SIM card. It surfs just fine in my Xperia.
Not sure about using it as a modem though.

iv been using it as a modem for a while now .. just by connecting it to my laptop and going on internet sharing ..works a treat .......ON O2
i cannot connect at all, it wont dial the APN for voda
