Hi everybody! I'm new here. Please i need your help! I've got a PDA Compaq iPAQ 3870 with pocket pc 2002 premium, and i want do upgrate to 2005, as i want to use my device with a gps. Is it possible to do this? Can you gave me directions urls/pages/websites, where can i find it?

so unless hp made 2005 for that device no dice

dont have any idear i think hp sell or let ppl download their rom upgrades
and if this or any other site had [email protected] warez versions of hp roms they would most likely try to get this site closed

The only firmware update for the 38xx series is WM2003. If you don't find it (it may be long removed from Compq/ HP's pages), look around on eBay or P2P networks. (The latter is legal with discontinued, not-otherwise-available products.)
Updates for the 3870 from 2002 to 2003 (Not SE) are still available via Ebay, I bought one not to long back for a 3970, pay no more than a couple of quid for it, seriously some will try and charge you nearer £40.

hmmm iirc the iPAQ 36xx was from Compaq [which hp bought] maybe you can try contacting hp since that model has long been discontinued. Good luck.

he said he is able to install WIN 5.0 to any jam and he ill give you a Guarantee for it but he request 50$ for that what do you think

Maybe he's a real good "master"in wm, and can istall wm5, but remember, his rom couldn't be be good for your Magician... Other solution, you can buy cd with eten m500 upgrade for 50 Euro. This CD contains ActivSync 4.1, upgrade from wm2003se to wm2005, and other things that you need to syncronize your MDA.

I would bet he is a crook. If there is of any way that he is able to run WM5 on Magician, you would have heard it in the best forum of all.. HERE! Of all the experts here agree there isn't an chance of getting WM5 running on Magician, I won't bet $50 on it.
Anyway, as for the Eten version, it won't work on Magician too. I mean, there are tons of WM2K to WM5 upgrades for other units, and if the modifications were to be so simple, I bet these people would have modify it for Magician.

i called with a german firm to ask how does a upgrade from 64 to 128 Mb costs also the question if it is possible run wm2005 after this upgrade they said to me that there is a posibilty, but it runs very very very slow
so in the i didn't made this upgrade but also wm2005 is not fully developed so let's see what comes
A guy from UK who claims to be official "Orange phone trainer" (Orange is a mobile operator in UK) claims that Orange Academy both Microsoft trainer and Orange employees were claiming that ROM upgrade for Orange SPV M500 Pocket PC phone (also for C550 smartphone) is coming.
If this would happen, then also users of other HTC Magician phones (like i-mate JAM, T-Mobile MDA Compact, Vodafone VPA Compact, Qtek S100, etc):

as posted under the smartphone main section, I was at the Orange Academy today. Good news to come from the event is that Microsoft and Orange are currently busy preparing a WM5 upgrade for both the C550 and the M500!
We were obviously told not to tell the general public, as they want us to push the C600 and the M5000, but for existing owners, this is fantastic news
I own an M500 and he was blatantly waving one around in front of my eyes saying "Both these devices will have WM5 on them in the coming months..."

Don't think it's going to happen. The only way that this device will get WM5 is if someone cooks a successful rom.

im pretty sure that this is an MDA Compact II or the HTC Charmer and not a magician, because i find it illogical that a telco will still produce a rom upgrade for a very old device which no retailer is selling anymore, and while i still entertain the thought that it may be an unofficial WM5 Rom, still, i would doubt it. Such a rom would have been posted already here.

Come on now, I have been reading WM5 posts for Magician from a year. Fed up now. Magician is a very old device. Dont think there will be a WM5 for it. Even WM6 is released long back. So if Magician had to have a WM5, it would have come out long back.

Now will I clean the cabinet, but I would like know or Android on the HP iPAQ rx3715 possible is or not.

Hi does anyone have the Pocket PC 2003 upgrade for the H3970 ipaq I have one with 2002 one it but the was a 2003 OS upgrade available at one point and I have hit dead ends trying to get it I'm hoping someone might still have it.

I've recently bought a HP Ipaq 1940h, and the famous HTC HD2.
Now I'm looking into modding them like i did back in the old days, and I cant find anything! Links are dead everywhere (something called linkrot lol)
I've found a fair bit for the HTC HD2, and I'm downloading and archiving it on my PC.
For the iPaq range though, there is not much stuff around!
