hey guys , im new on the forum but i got an htc universal , i got hooked up with the thing , but last week the usb plug broke and i got frozen with the bootloader ( no big deal with the bootload but with the usb ) hard to fix right now , but the question is , witch rom is the best for 2020 ( WM5 )
i have a htc himalaya , and i want the wm5 on it but the best working one with ( efficient and not to many bugs or what ever they call it )
i use my ppc for internet / bt / navigation / and calling so what can i download
i am using tmobile provider ( dutch ) witch one wil work on that
had these but dident flash it yet .

no himalaya rom would work on universal devices
would say all these 3 are himalaya since the nr¨s seem to ref to how much randisk they have and universals dont have ram disks
noo noo i mean for the himalaya not the universal , i got them both but the universal is now dead , but i want to use wm5 for my htc himalaya and what is the best
i know now what these 3 roms are , they are the same but with other ram and storage mem , like ( 64 - 64 / 98 - 32 and 128 - 0 ) i think
but which wan i can take that wil handle correct without any problems with calling , etc .

Its a long tale,,,how i got this 1, my 1St WM Phone aftr a long wait of abt 7mths, as Availabilty f gud Wm phones in my part f country was bleak...& to make things worse, i lost my previous symbian for dat long
Finally, i got Imported To my place a UNLOCKED T MOBILE MDA VARIO III just 10 days back.
I GOT it for around 800 $ (without Tom Tom tastr version, Extra Screen protector, memory card)
IMPORTED BCOZ HTC HASNT LAUNCHED even HTC TYTN yet in my country..Just its variants like jasjam and xda stellar r available and dat too ,with huge price tags. After abt 3 mths f followup with Offcial HTc Peoploe ovr here, they still nt ready to divulge any details abt launched ,so i decided f importing one.
UNLOCKED BCOZ T MOBILE Doesnt provide service in here & unlocking services r nt availabel in my part f state (not atleast of WMobiles)
Since i had not much idea abt its workin excpt WM O.S's r smwht similar to Windows Desktop O.S's with registry stuff & all & had never used a WM b4 receiving mine,
So after experimentation f few days & Hard Resetting My Device for abt 3 times already due to many sftware problems etc,
I m here to get First Advise,regarding Flashing a NEW ROM to it
I would like to Specifically Point here tht i HAVE read the basic info about flashing already & few more Basic stuff f WMobiles & nt pointing another same query!

1) I think dat its rom has been changed as t mobile has it own german language oriented rom but nt my case .
2) Whether hw this has been flashed ..may be sm other way, not using HARD SPL ( pof's)...so what shd i do..go for installation f HARD SPL OR d other one f JockyW2001 ?
3) HARD SPL (pof's) is also for CID unlock ? written in dat thread but cant find any other reference other than topic heading !
3) What way i can find out whether hard spl has ben installed already or not? or can hard spl be installed again?
4) Do i need to install HARD SPL first b4 using this procedure http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334680
5) i hav got no Memory card available yet..is it necessary for Flashing a new Rom ?

You better HardSPL it or you will have an $800 brick on your hands. Try reading the wiki. Its very helpful. Also I think that other members as well as I would appreciate it if you didn't use as many abbreviations and colors. Seriously.

1.) What? Its going to be in German because you bought an imported one. Easily changed with a rom flash. There is also software to remap the keyboard if needed.
2.) If you just got it it probably hasn't been flashed. A good indicator is if it still has all the t-mo crap all over it (splash screens etc.)
3.)You need to HardSPL, any kaiser version will work. If you go into bootloader mode (read Wiki) it will say OliPof at the end of the 2nd or 3rd line
4.) Yes
5.) Not needed for flashing, but to really use the all the capabilities of your phone you need one

MOST probably , the person who unlockd it ,flashed d basic HTC rom 1.56.405.5 (ENGLISH) in place f GERMAN , by Some NON HardSpl way.

Offcourse , it can be upgraded to wm 6.5 ( my opinion , don t is not so perfect wm 6.5 so search for a good one 6.1 ( a good exemple is that one i have)
For g3 or g4 well search a lil in this forum and u will find it . And first to not have problems is best to make a hard spl , for not having problems with rom upgrade.
i think you should try the " varanusvincent " ROM , i'm a newbie and just like you
about the g3/g4, did you see the ' SPL ' code when you turn on your prophet ?
if u want to upgrade ..
FIRST --> HARD SPL (find it in this forum)
SECOND --> Update your radio ROM ( i suggest u use 2.69 .... )
THIRD --> Update your IPL to 2.20
last --> Flash your Prophet ..

hey .. ok so i am old lol .. look i have an htc herald (p4350 ) i have tried many ROMS on it but they all crash :S .. and im going on holiday for 3 weeks and i wont take my pc with me .. i really need a stable wm6.5 rom .. and to be flashed USPL becouse i dont want to hard spl .. please help me ... and another thing .. i need a softwear to back up my sms from windows 6 to restore it on windows 6.5 ,,, thanks !!
There are tons of stable ROMs all over this board. You don't even need to search, just scan thread titles lol.

Why donnot you use hard-spl ? in my opinon and XP it is more userfriendly . Try http://thewingster.com/default.aspx a huge collection of Roms for herald , almost most of them are from this xda wonderful sitehttp://thewingster.com/default.aspx
