How remove bad directory entry at QTek S110\Storage - General Topics

I´ve got a problem on my QTek S110 - an invalid directory entry at \Storage.
It have to be a .CAB file with installation of a program, but currently because of some bug it is detected by system as subdirectory. It is marked as System, Read-Only and ROM. Has size of original CAB (approx. 3Mb). Its impossible to remove this invalid entry with File Manager ("This directory cannot be removed" message because). I can´t clear read-only and system attributes of this pseudodirectory. There
are others signs of error - strange behavour when this entry is displayed in different file managers etc.
I can´t format \Storage because "embedded drive cannot be formatted".
Hard reset has not effect.
Suggest a way to solve the problem, please.
ROM Upgrade? Some utility for format? Utility like chkdsk?

I've found the answer.
I made BigStorage in my QTek.
During upgrading internal Storage had been cleared.
So I've solve the problem and increase Storage capacity simultaneously.

"Storage" directory of MDA-II

Can anyone tell me:
1. what the function is of the "Storage" directory on MDA-II?
2. How to make use of it?
When my MDA-II has had a hard-reset, all the information in the "Storage" has been disappeard anyway.
Look at my Lay-out in this thread:

Use the Storage folder to keep files that will NOT be erased after a hard reset.

How can I install EXTROM file?

After upgrade to Big Storage, I would like to install the ExtROM file originally in O2Mini ROM. Can anybody tell me how I can proceed? I would like to have automatic execution of all CAB file in the EXT ROM.
Thanks !
Basically you need to copy the folder "Extended ROM" from your device to your Storage Card *before* applying the BigStorage patch, because obviously after the patch they are gone.
To do this, you must cold-boot the device, and after screen calibration do a warm-boot *before* it starts to install the Extended ROM programs.
Then you will see a folder "Extended ROM" in File Manager (it is hidden after the automatic installation of Extended ROM files).
It is advisable to make a backup copy of that folder on your PC, because the files are in CAB format which means they are deleted after installation (if you do not write-protect your Storage Card).
Then, after getting BigStorage, you need to open the folder on your Storage Card and start AUTORUN.EXE or START.EXE (depending on your version), thus simulating the process that happens after a Cold Boot with an existing Extended ROM.
1.Copy the Extended ROM files to My Devices
2.Rename folder name to Extended_ROM
3.Running AutoRun.exe file and waiting for reboot!
Install ExtROM File
Actually I have tried to make the copy of ExtROM files in Storage Card under folder name EXTROM and run "Autorun". But it was failed. I will try the suggestion again.
Thanks !

storage problem. help pls

i upgraded my himalaya with wm5 helmis rom. my problem is its storage capacity. it only has 14 mb of storage. how am i going to extend its storage. is there any procedure for doing this? thanks.
http://www.buzzdev.net/index.php?option=com_remository&Itemid=132&func=fileinfo&id=125
or use another rom with more storage
i have the exact problem...16MB storage...always have 0.6MB free...can't install software...
tried to reduce the RAMDISK to 32 MB, program is increased, storage the same...
storage cant be inc it's flashrom and cant use the normal ram
but one can just install programs on RAMDISK it's faster then normal storage anyway it being ram (well ½ of it) and storage is flash
Use HIMA_DOC_TOOL v1.0 to increase the storage from 15 MB to 30 MB. Search the forum.
Thanks c_shekhar for your response. I searched around the forum, seems this extrom unlock has been discussed for years.
for my understand, need to run the ExtROM Tools to unhide/unlock extrom, then run the Hima_DOC_Tool_1.0 to merge storage and extrom. Now here is the question, I unhide the extrom successfully, can see it for 15.97MB, however the unlock does not work, it has the "blue square" icon and fails "Either it is not signed with a trustred certificate, or one of its components cannot be found".
Not sure this is a corrupted package or something missing from my ROM, the .rar opens fine, but the winrar reports .cab file is corrupted when trying to open it.
My ROM is 3.50c.40CS version...appreciate for your time to help!
Excellent, found the solution from buzz forum...i installed the unlocker to SD card that is why it faied...after re-installing to DEVICE, it works!!! got 30.5MB storage, very happy. Thanks guys.

MENC File Help Needed...

Hello All,
I am having a serious problem with my HTC Wizard and i want a solution for it.
I was running TNT Professional 1933 WM6 ROM on my Wizard then i found some problem with sms notification so i thought to upgrade my Rom.I took backup of my SMS with PIM 2.5 and copied the backup file into my SD Card. Then i removed the SD card and Reinstalled(upgraded) the same TNT Pro 1933 ROM.Everything went fine and the Rom installed properly. After finishing and setting up my device,i inserted the SD Card into my Device and found few files with an unknown extension. The file name were same but with an extension".86e1bece" i.e the original backup file name was 28-10-08 but it changed to "28-10-08.pib.86e1bece".These files shows an icon with a lock in PC and the extension it shows is MENC.
I searched in this forum and found few posts having same problem with a little difference but there was no solution.
I want to know how can i recover these MENC Files in order to recover my precious Data.I need an urgent help in this matter and i hope i will get your replies as soon as possible.
Thanks
Anyone out there????
same hapens to me..anyone have a solution?
I dont think a solution is available for this, they are simply encrypted via WM and its not possible to de-crypt them, unless you got the original handset and its not been hard reset! I have been looking hi and low for this and cant find anything.
I got loads of files that I cant access case I had to carry out a hard re-set.
Apparently the file is encrypted and can be decrypted only on the handset it was encrypted on.
To prevent getting such file type in the future, follow this procedure
Start>Settings>System Tab>Encryption
UnCheck on encryption and after this you will get only normal (Unencrypted file).
Another way is the activesync way. Transfer the file from the handset to pc via ActiveSync, it will automatically decrypt and paste the regular format on to your pc.
Hope it helps

I have just stumble into the same problem. I flash my HD with a new ROM and found out that all my jpg and other files were not readable.
My solution (if you will call it) is to reinstall the old ROM and unticked the encrypt memory card option. You should be able to read the menc files back from the PDA.
After that back-up all your memory card data and re-format your PDA with the new ROM.
Lastly, copy the back-up back into the memory card if anything goes wrong.
Good luck
Thanx alot bro...

That works for you?

Apps on storage card

Hi,
since I'm running REALLY LOW at internal storage I tinker with the idea of putting some apps to storage card. Thus I'm wondering what if I reflashed my Herald someday. Will I have to reinstall those apps as well or will I be able start them right from SD? What about the app's [email protected] Windows folder?!
Cheers
Hello
If you decide to do a hard reset, then you must reinstall all the programs in SD ..
Whenever you change ROM or you make a hard reset, you'll need to reinstall all CAB
It depends on whether the CAB installs files to different locations, and whether the CAB contains registry entries. Check your CAB file using MSCEINF to see if it copies files to the windows folder and if it has registry entries. Also check the [DefaultInstall] section of the .inf file for the entry 'SelfRegisterDll'. If your CAB file contains any of these things then you'll have to reinstall it after a hard reset.
A large percentage of CABs only contain a single file with no registry entrys and would not have to be reinstalled after a hard reset.

Hi J03M4N,
With your help (Thanks) there is a new version for MSCEInf (version 2.6) :
Contributions of version 2.6
• Backslash added in rebuilt Inf file, at item [SourceDisksNames], if specified folder has not one at the beginning.
• Due to a bug in new version of mshtml.dll in Internet Explorer 8 Beta for drawing a background image in ListView, I have taken away the background image in the Open Cab Dialog Box.
• There is now a new column in the tab "Folders", with real values written in the CAB without transformation of %CExx%.
Download links in my signature.
not all apps have to be reinstalled. even apps which require registry keys might write them when you run the app from the SD card without installing it.
but remember that not all apps can be installed on the SD card..
Which can't? Any specific ones?
Cheers
i can't name you all the apps which can't
some can, some can't.
for instance, you can't install iGO8 on your storage card...
just install the app on your device and choose Storage Card... (which doesn't always appear as an option)... you can check after installing if it installed on your card or not.
max, uninstall.
if you have installed to your storage card you can just put links to them in the windows\startmenu\ folder
theres an app for that
