New to forums and pda's in general, just bought T-mobile Wing quick ?

first off not sure where wing topics belong cause i didnt see a section for it yet 2nd is there any method to overclock the wing's processor?
it got a samsung cpu
a search for something like
"overclock AND samsung"
would lead you to peoples results overclocking that type of cpu

A T-Mobile Wing is also known as a HTC Herald or P4350.
doesnt it use the same processor as the MDA? thats not a samsung is it?
as long as they are arm compatible it dont matter who makes them softwarewise
but overclocking toolswise it does
so the oc tool for the mda should work fine then right since its the same processor? will it run on windows mobile 6 ?
MDA is the term tmobile call ALL! their pocketpc phones they dont all have the same cpu they are all arm compatible by being arm compatible dont mean they can use the same oc tool
only 4 ways to find out
1 try it
2 wait and see if anybody come across this thread who have tried it
3 google around
4 write an email to the makers of the oc tool you wish to use
The Wing is exactly the same as the Herald, it just has another look and has Crossbow. For overclocking I suggest you use Tai Chi's BatteryStatus, a today plugin-in with overclocking options (dynamic, static, application controlled e.g.)
And if you're interested in another overclocking util, search for an utility that can clock TI (texas instruments) omap850 processors

ELFin or Polaris

Hey,
Im gonna buy a new PDA.
And im in doubt between the ELFin and Polaris.
The Polaris has a GPS onboard, and 256 mem... Other specs looks the same. But is it better as a ELFin?
Are there any negative things about one of them?
Thanks,
HP197
P.s. A read that the Polaris has a 400Mhz proc onboard. But is it a real 400Mhz proc? Or a shared Proc like the Artemis? That one had a 400Mhz proc, but WM had only 200Mhz for usage, the other 200Mhz was used for GPS signals etc etc...
elfin? http://www.cvcoffee.com/prod_images_blowup/Elfin-Blow-Up1.jpg
?
do you mean elf?
if so then they are way different elf is one of the weakest pda's htc have
and polaris is pretty ok
here you can compare

No, i mean the ELFin...
Its the updated version of a ELF, with 400mhz proc, and 128mb mem.
P.s. If i looks to the wiki, i think the official name is Vogue. But some of this forum members call it ELFin

Polaris: http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=801&view=1
ahhh got it
welll Vogue dont have gps as you mention and nor does it have umts or hsdpa
== as slow internet
and it's cam dont have autofocus (not sure how much this mean as i've yet to se a photo taken with any phone which was worth printing to papir or setting as wallpapir on a pc)
also as you mention 400Mhz is not really an universaly good way of measuring speed of the device
only a benchmark will show a good picture of how much difference there is between a
Qualcomm 400Mhz of polaris and
OMAP 400MHz of vogue

Euhhmmm, touch dual (Vogue) does have HSPDA... Only the elf doesnt, but that is the older model. The Vogue is the follow up of the ELF.
But anyway..
Thanks for the info.
Still not sure wich one im gonna take
Edit The Vogue is also missing WIFI. So, it misses 128mb, GPS and WIFI.
Thats a big miss, my vote goes to the Polaris...

of cause the wiki of this site is hardly failable but it say that it's
edge and gsm only
also before i checked that wiki i believed the vogue to be only cdma (the american cellphone network which is not gsm)
maybe the vogue forum could bring light to what network it really use
but if it lack wifi which is also strange since elf's wiki say it have that

About the hsdpa on the vogue: Vogue page on a other site, translated to english with google translate (orig: dutch)
About the touch dual with / without wifi: Same site, also translated with google
Look at the end of the page, where all the specs are.
This is one of the more respected online shops for PDA's in the Netherlands. So i suppose there information is right. And i dont think they disabled wifi for our country only. Because the usage of wifi is totaly legal here (some countries does not allow it).
Howwww...
Now i see... Im talking about the vogue...
But the vogue isnt the same as the HTC touch dual (Vogue = P3050, Touch Dual = P5500)
That would explain some mis understandings...
So im comparing between the P3650 (aka Polaris) and the P5500 (Touch Dual... Build name?¿?).
Wich in my eye, the P3650 is the better one.
EDIT:
P5500 Aka Touch Dual == HTC Niki
http://pdadb.net/index.php?m=specs&id=736
Its clear for me...
I Go for the Polaris...
Just because its the one with the most features.

overclock tytn II

it's possible with battery status? max mhz?
thx...
As far as I know, there are no programs available right now that can overclock the CPU in the Kaiser. If you install BatteryStatus, you will notice that it does not load OmapClock as it did on the Wizard.
They are different types of Chips in the Wizard/Atremis (OMap) to the Kaiser(Qualcomm).
As far as I know no-one has managed to clock it yet...
Have to wait and see if anyone can.

Compatibility question

Hello, first of all please excuse my english, I am from Czech Rep. I have a problem, I want to buy a some PDA with GSM module, but I need to know somethink before. I know that 2 "types" of mobile CPU exists. XScale basede CPU s and ARM11. I want to buy HTC Diamond, with Qualcomm CPU, but I dont know if this Qualcomm is compatible with Xscale, because it is product of different companies. So, i dont know this problematics much, I know that at the normal PC is Windows the "thing" that makes compatibility, because you write programs for windows and he tells CPU what to do. At least I think so. So from this point should be compatibl with Xscale becaue of WM software. But I saw article on web, where was written that in past (2002/3) there were more CPU´s and they weren´t compatible for each other, and they were all runing WM, how is this possible? So, is that CPU (qualcomm) fully compatible with Xscale? Can I run with him all my aplications that I used on my a701 mio Intel Xscale phone? Thank for al reponses. Please forgive me mistakes, I am begginer in this area.
"XScale basede CPU s and ARM11."

same thing
So absolutelly no problem at all?

Qtek S100 (I-mate JAM): Overclock question

Hey guys,
I was wandering the FPSECE forums so I asked about the compability with my PDA model and someone answered me with this:
It should run pretty well!!
On my QVGA P750 @ 667Mhz PXA 270 I could get better speeds than my Omnia!
If you overclock your 400 Mhz PXA 272 you should be able to get pretty nice speeds.
Check out this thread, it might help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=240277&highlight=overclock

How can I overclock my S100? How much can I overclock it? And is it safe?
Thanks in advance,
K.
With Cotulla's ROM you can use MagicianSpeed in Settings
Settings > System > Device Speed?
It has an option which says "Very Fast: 416 Mhz+", is that it? But would it work fine?
Yes,there it is,it works fine and safe.
Thanks man
