I have a few questions:
1) Is there a way for Oz messenger (Software that comes with the MDA but I downloaded it for my BlueAngel) to vibrate when an IM come in?
2) Is there a way to customize the away messages instead of the usual "I am not responding to messages right now."
3) Can Oz messenger be used with out a GPRS connection? I mean, I know it uses SMS but it always connects the GPRS.

After a few calls to various "customer advisors" at O2 I am still less the wiser to how much I'm being charged while logged in/using MSN messenger on my XDA2s......
Anyone able to shed some light on this?
install the gprs monitor on the cd u got with it set it up to monitor the gprs connection and modify it to the correct prices! simple then it will tell u how much is going in and out on GPRS and the cost!
What might be happening is that once you tap to close MSN when you've finished, it doesn't actually close MSN down - it only minimises it. Do you have your GPRS connected a lot of the time? Do you have an autocheck set up on your email which may check for new mail?
As collins says, make sure you have a GPRS monitor program running. Why not set up a test after you've done what you think you should do to end an MSN / GPRS session, make it alert you after only the slightest bit of data has been used. Then check what programs / utilities are running on the phone.

or hold your finger down on the red end call button untill the conecttion
disconnects then if it trys to restart something in the background is trying to access GPRS
Hey guys I know it can be done because the Tmobile wing has the capability of doing it. i am looking for the version of aim or the cab of a client that will allow me to have my phone connected to wifi or gprs(preferebly wifi) send an IM to a cell phone as an SMS.
I have tried different verssionns of msn messanger, live messanger, agile, IM+, and aim OZ pocket PC. the closest I have come to this was through AIM I can text from my laptop to a SMS on a phone but have not been able to get the condenseed Buddylist that lacks mobile devices to download on to my wizard from the internet.
any help is appreciated!
if you already have aim on your wizard all you to do is send a message to the cell phone by adding a plus and the number for example in the to field you would have +16278286252 and this will send the IM as SMS to the person.
thats correct if was on my laptop. On the AIm thats on my phone i get "Previous message not recieved by +16278286252 because of error: User+16278286252 not available" when I attempt to text someone. The numbers/contacts that are on my buddy list appear as PleaseUpgrade000 and .
Im testing with a phone phone that is available and is recieving texts from the same aim account from the laptop
Hello! First post! nice
I swear i searched and searched and couldn't find anything about this but...
i was wondering if there's an IM app besides OZ that uses SMS to send IM's. I have unlimited text but no data. OZ sucks so i was wondering if there was an alternative. Thanks!
i need the same...i have no data and unlimited text also...i have a an At&t Tilt.
OZ is the best you can get for SMS/text IMing. Sorry to dissappoint.
All SMS IMing is the same, it is all sucky, and slow, with little features. The reason for this is that it uses your operator's SMS (Short message service) which is slow to be sent over the internet. It will never be I(instant)Ming with SMS.
However, hacked AIM 2.0 works very well if you have Wifi. It also uses data if you aren't on wifi, but about 5 Instant messages can be sent per 1 KB. At 1 cent, thats 5 messages per penny (if you are in the USA )
But my advice is to just get a data plan. SMS messaging has and will always suck.
damn...where can i get Oz or w.e its called
aim mobile...go to aim.com and you can send/recieve IMs via text msgs....no wifi/data connect necessary
simply sign up from your computer
uh.....but you can't start a convo from that....
anybody link to Oz?
Hi. I have an unlocked HTC P4351 (a.k.a. T-Mobile Wing), I want to get an IM program on it, to use my SMS gateway to log in to AIM network and to send/receive messages. The T-Mo's version of the same device, is the Wing, has this OZ Messenger on it, you don't need no data plan for it to work (Log In and to Send/Receive Instant Messages.) Since my device is unlocked (not T-Mobile Branded), I had to manually set up the connection for MMS. So I probably need to set up some other connection for this also, to start maybe some another "GPRS" other than the one that starts when I send/receive MMS.
All I want, is to get a normal AIM app on my phone, and for it to use my SMS connection to sign on and to send/receive Instant Messages.
Thank You For You Help!

Hi, I've not got Exchange.. just gmail.. yeah i've seen some messy hacks to get gmail working as push but my basic question is HOW does push work? does the phone maintain a 3g connection? tcp? udp? sms?
What is the technical flow chart for events that happen when I am sent a 'push email' when my device is sleeping?
Basically, my wish is for my phone to push only emails where sender is on a whitelist (where the sender is on a outlook contact on my phone only).. without much data charges. I'm thinking a sms trigger would wake my phone with screen still off to download the 1 email over 3g then beep loudly like i got a txt.
I'm on wm 6.5.3 / htc touch 3g / orange uk
( btw i am thinking of writing my own system .. 'poor mans push' )
