Microdrive - General Topics

Hi
which HTTC Devices are supporting Microdrive or similar mobile datadrives?
I'm searching for a solution for an application which uses Databases.

Non to my knoladge. Unless there is a microdrive with sdio interface (I haven't seen one).
Only some HP and Fujitsu devices have CF slots, maybe some others, but non of them phones. That's why all the havy nav programs use SD cards. Aren't 4GB anough for you? I believe 8GB cards will be available soon, not sure about device support though.

the backpack of himalaya have a cf slot

gsm memory for mpx 220

Hi,
anyone knows were is the mpx220 phone gsm memory? I want to access to this memory for obtaining CellTowerinfo like in prob cell track.
you can use pmemmap to determine how windows ce has mapped memory.
with the htc smartphones i have seen memory being shared between the wince part, and the gsm part, this is why you can see the cellid's from wince.
with the htc pda's this is not posssible.
i don't know about the mpx220

SDIO 802.11b/g by Pluscom. Compatibility issues with WM6

I have a Pluscom 54Mb Wifi SDIO card that is not supported under WM6. I have had brief comms with the manufacturer http://pluscom.cn/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=571
It appears that they do not curently intend to develop WM6 drivers and they allude to the problem being to do with the way WM6 hooks into the miniSD slot to support HC card types.
Has anyone found a workaround for this and if not are there any dumped WM5 .nbh anywhere for this device? There aren't in the FTP.
Thanks
I got a spectec mini SD wifi card on hand. I think I can have some test on my Treo 750 few days later. There's also driver for WM6 on spectec's website.

Benefits of upgrading

Hi
I have just received an xdaII mini and have been browsing these forums looking at the different roms available. I am just wondering, besides obviously being a newer release, what benefits the updated rom - say Cotulla's wwe03 - brings to the magician (in its default 2003se setup). Is it more stable, better features apps?
Cheers
2 words. Persistent Storage. This is the main reason (but not the only reason and there's a lot) why you should abandon WM2003SE and upgrade to Cotulla's ROM. This means that if ever you drain your battery, you would not lose all the data (e.g. contacts, appointments.. etc.) in your Magician.
make your xda mini beautiful
You can enjoy great applications and launchers when you upgraded your ROM. Many applications are running only if your ROM is wm5, wm6, wm6.1 or wm6.5.
Try to use spb mobile shell and see the difference in your xda mini.
Thanks for replies. What about memory issues. The XDAII mini only has 64 mb of ROM and 64 of RAM. Is this enough to run wm6? Do users get out of memory errors and is it stable...will I need to reset the phone regularly?
Well I held my breath and flashed wwe 3.03 to the o2 and it seems very quick and stable. As mentioned, my biggest concern was with memory management. Is anyone using external bluetooth gps devices with this?
Cheers
WM6.1 runs great even if the Magician has only 64MB memory. Basic rule is never to install too much applications in the internal memory which will slow down the unit. If possible try to install them in memory card. The good news is since you installed 3.03 then you now have SDHC capability.
As for your second question it would be better if you read the thread for the version you installed. If you can't find the answer then don't hesitate to ask you questions since there are a lot of members who will be happy to help you.
Have fun with your "new" magician!

[Q] HD2 architecture

I have a Win 6.5 HD2. I am fairly confident with PC hardware architecture, and am interested to understand the HD2 architecture.
I am considering changing from Windows to an Android OS.
I can see many posts that talk about SD an NAND images, and would like to understand the differences, and if my HD2 has one or the other or both.
So, does an HD2 have a BIOS or equivalent?
I have a micro SD card installed, but I am assuming this is additional to a RAM component on the HD2.
What are the basic components needed to support Android, or any OS on an HD2?
Is there a document/manual available that explains the building blocks of the HD2?
Thanks in anticipation.
