Anyway to increase push email inbox retention? - General Topics

I have push email hosted through 4smartphone.net
Emails I need keep dropping out of my inbox. The oldest email is from 3 days ago. Is there a way to extend the life of emails, so that they don't disappear for 2 weeks?
If I switch to a better mail program than the default WM5 messaging app, will it make a difference?
Thanks

My oldest email is from 2 months ago.
Maybe you have to change an option in ActiveSync :
Go to Menu > Options then select E-Mail under Exchange Server and go to Parameters.
You have to choice for "Include the last" (I suppose as I'm french) : All or 1 month or 2 weeks...
Mine is all.

Awesome! Thanks, that did it.
I went through activesync on my device and then email -> settings and now I've changed it from 3 days to a month.....brilliant!

pop3 email notification delay

Has anyone noticed that when you receive an email the notification pop up only after the next check (can be 20-30 minutes).
Am I missing something or what else ... ? I want the sond to be played as the email is in inbox.
Thanks
so no one ... :?:
i wonder what's the issue.
pop3 auto email check every 1 minute
In mobile 6 on my samsung i760, I can configure it to autocheck for new mail every 15 minutes. Is there a registry hack that will allow me to change this to "immediately" "every 1 minute", every 2 minutes" ? I am using pop3 and *not* Verizon's push or wirelesssync service. thanx, experts.

POP3 accts: Its there a tweak 2 enable "connect & check for msgs" sooner than 15 mins

What's up guys?
I'm trying setup my bellsouth and gmail as POP3 accts in Outlook (WM6) but noticed that unlike WM5, the most often connection setting for "connect and check for messages" its every 15mins.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a tweak or registry hack to change that and make it connect and check for messages sooner (like WM5 where you can change set it to connect as often as every 1 min)
Thanks in advance!!

This is something i would like to know too.
It doesnt seem to be a possible option (at least not for WM6).... Its just not d convinient to have Outlook check for new mail every 15mins... specially for people who rely on email messages throughout the day.
Any suggestions?
Possibly a registry change?
Doesn't seem to be any as of now.
I would be happy if I could simply send an email from my MDA since I've flashed the WM6 ROM. So far I'm receive only.

Slow Push with the new Hotmail ActiveSync.

Anybody noticed a very slow push for the new Hotmail ActiveSync? I have set my sync settings to 'As items arrive' but it takes about 5-10 minutes after it reached my hotmail inbox to reach to my phone.
I have made some minor settings change like syncing items 1 weeks ago (default is a day I think), sync the entire message (default only 5kb).
Using an Xperia X1 with WM6.5 custom ROM.
Bump......

Deleting emails from phone while keeping them on the server.

My sister recent went from a Blackberry to a Thunderbolt. She liked how on the BB she could delete an email off her phone and still keep it on the server and wants to know if it's possible to do this on the Tbolt. She doesn't use gmail. It's a Cox Communications email account. Is it possible to do this on Android?

Stolen from another forum (original post regarded an EVO - but likely applies to all Android OS phones.

Mail accounts use one of 3 protocols: Exchange, IMAP and POP. Both Hotmail (as of a few weeks ago) and Exchange use over-the-air (Active) sync technology so when you delete a message on your phone, it's removed from the server and thus your client program as well (web/Outlook). IMAP also supports a similar 2-way update.
In order to only delete messages off your phone but not the server, you need to set up your mail accounts with POP instead. POP downloads a copy of and sends mail to/from the server -- nothing else. Hotmail supports POP but your Exchange server may or may not (a lot of larger companies policies do not). You'd have to contact the Administrators to find that out.
If they don't allow POP on Exchange, then ask if they can forward a copy of your mail to another public mail service, like Gmail. Then you can add the Gmail account to your phone via POP.
Remember, if you still want to sync your Contacts and Calendar with Exchange, you need to keep those and just uncheck Mail instead of deleting the Exchange account entirely.

My 2c:
Not sure if it will work - I personally just delete on the fly, be damned the server. However, when I had an old LG v11000 (Envy Touch) I had the VZW email service on it - and even if I deleted from the phone, it was sitting on the server when I logged into Gmail. It was set up "POP3" style.
IF you go under mail/menu/more/settings/send & Receive you can check the box that says "delete mail on server" to turn it on or off. I turn it off so that it will leave a copy on the server but remove it from my phone.

I am having the same, or a similar problem. On my PC I use POP3 to access my mail; the ISP recommended using IMAP on the HTC (with different "in" and "out" mailbox settings for the HTC IMAP i.e. on the HTC two different settings for in and out). Was working fine but then found that messages I had received on my HTC were not appearing on my PC when I got home (my PC had been off, usually it is on, syncing every 2 minutes). I think this is because I had deleted them from my HTC in the meantime.
Trouble is, there is no setting ""delete mail on server" to check or uncheck under mail/menu/more/settings/send & receive, so I cannot follow the above advice. Only Mail size limit, Update schedule, Download options (it's not in there), Auto download message, Folder to sync, Reply with original text and Always bcc me.
What am I missing please ? Software says it is Android 2.3.3.
Thanks in advance.
I use K9 mail and go to more/settings/fetching mail/when I delete
I am flummoxed. I changed the HTC settings from IMAP to POP and did some tests; nothing being deleted ie still available on server. But when I looked at "Send and receive" options, I now have a list with 2 new option, inluding ""delete mail on server". It was not there before. Honest !!
I have been bak and re-set the thing to IMAP, and then the option about deleting from the server disappears again. So I am not going mad. But why should the options be different ?
low on memory
My father In-law has a Thunderbolt and is constantly having a low on memory issue on his phone.. When I go and look at his app's, his exchange is hogging up 2.6 gigs of memory while everything else (APPS) is using only KB'S of memory nothing big.. How would I be able to transfer his exchange email to the SD card,, He has a 32 gig card with 26 gigs of it being free.
Thanks for your help.

Work email won't send, sits in outbox forever....

Ok so my Exchange server emails are just sitting in the outbox forever. I noticed it started happening about a month ago. My hotmail emails send just fine.
When I go to the account settings, there is only an option for "Incoming settings" there is no "Outgoing settings" menu to select and change the options.
Has anyone else ran into this and is there a fix? I noticed others are having this same problem, apparently for the last couple years on various devices.

Ok, I fixed it.... I went to the exchange web app on my phone and tried to send an email and it informed me that I had no storage space left in my email. I deleted a few hundred emails and now I am sending away again from the email app. Hope this helps someone in the future.
