I have recently broke my XDA screen.
Does anybody know if the screen of the IPAQ 3630 is the same as the XDA? Is there any hardware modification to be done or the connectors are ALL the same?
People at Microsoft told me the Wallaby was designed after the Ipaq 3630, so most of the parts, including the screen should be the same.
Please advise. It could be helpful for a lot of people fouled by O2 with CRAZY requests for fixing the screen.
The ipaq 3600 series screen is bigger.
I have no idea about what you asked, but I would really like to know how you broke your screen?

it is very easy to make the screen break ... just drop your XDA, it happened to one of my XDAs
regards, monika
i drop mine about 5x a day...(scratches on case, looseing that wen vibrates, it rattles alot)...thats why im SERIOUSLY lookin for a dummy model, but everytime i try to check on ebay, the auctions are over...so i tried going to TMO stores, or where ever they carry them, always ask the sales ppl if they could just sell me the model, an they never want to  i jus tell em to order an extra one, an say sumone stole the old one....but since theyr too stcuk up to get a few extra $$$$ in there pockets, ima just have to "take" one
Basically the screen has imploded. I was talking, the screen went on power saving mode, and when ended the call it was broken.
O2 asked me too much money to repair, but I am sure the screen of the IPAQ 3630 is the same size, already checked.
Has anyone tried to open up both devices and check it?
Just want to know if connectors are the same.
Thanks
yes, my friend did open the device .... not mine but the similar unit - MDA, seems like it is a sony make, but according to his words IPAQ screen will not fit
BTW I have the same problem - I have two machines - one MDA with broken but functioning screen and XDA I do operate on a daily basis, I can make calls from both units ... but hesitating between repair and sale as is

You must have the only ipaq 3630 that has a screen the same size as xda1, I have one in front of me and I will eat my shirt on camera if you manage to get it into the xda1.
although I am not going to eat my shirt  but I agree that screen sizes are different

I broke my screen by dropping it face down on a stone 1 week after buying it. I was insured by O2 for £4.99 a month and the next day I recieved a brand new one with all the accessories and I only had to return the main unit. I now have 2 batteries, headphones, cradles etc.

Do you fancy selling all those XDAII extra's
Sorry, I find them really usefull, I have the cradle next to my bed and one attatched to my desktop. The spare battery is allways usefull as the main batteries are not very goo. that leaves me with a headset and a dummy SD card which i am sure are not very usefull to you. If it happens again I will contact you. Adam
Hi all,
As some of you may know, I've had a problem with my Himalaya for 2-3 weeks now, soI wish to sell it for spare parts, as I have been unable to restore it from death after upgrading to tofclock's w2k5 2.01wwe.
Namely, I used this rom for a week, and then suddenly my phone died, I only get a blank white screen(no usb or serial words) when I do hard reset, and that's about it. I am not even able to get into bootloader mode, perhaps the b/l got corrupted in the upgrade process or something. However, I gave up trying to restore it, so I figured out that I can sell it to someone for spare parts, or maybe if someone is able to restore it, then good for him, he can get an awesome device for litle money.
This is the deal:
My Himalaya (Qtek2020) is in good shape, the housing is in excellent condition(apart from few scratches of course, it's been used for 1,5 yrs or so, but I've never dropped it or something) the screen is also in good shape (I've had screen protectors all the time since I've had it) all of the button are working(D-Pad, Power, record, camera, reset, calendar and contacts buttons)connectors are all working as well, I have a wall outlet charger, sync cradle and a leather case. I can sell it altogether or separately.
The price is negotiable, for whoever is interested. The payment will be discussed as well, we can do it via paypal, direct bank transfer, western union or something else. I am open to offers
If you're interested drop me a line here, PM me or email me:

P.S. I can also send you pictures if you're interested. Let me know.

And I am sure I did subscribed for one...
However munzab,
I did sell the himalaya to another member of this board, back in February.
Thanks for asking though...
All the best,

Hello all,
For the past 2 months, I have been facing various problems with my VOX. First, the display was not working properly. Then, the spring between the two halves started sticking out. Next, suddenly, after I restarted the phone, I saw that the display was blank. I thought that there might be some problem in the cable connection between the two halves. On closer inspection, I saw that a plastic like cable(presumably, the connection between the two PCBs) had got cut. Also, due to an earlier mishap, my receive call button had broken.
I would like to know if my phone is salvageable, and if yes, at what cost.
Presumable repairs needed:
1: keypad replacement
2: possible display replacement
3: maybe the connector between the two halves needs to be replaced.
4: connector between the two halves needs to be replaced.
I would like to get a rough idea as to how much will it cost to effect these repairs from the authorized service centre and if it will be worth going through at all.
I like this phone for its versatility and do not want to replace it without giving it a benefit of doubt.
Hoping to hear from you all as soon as possible.
Akshay
The authorised service center will charge approx 1000 for serving as labour and fitting charges. and rates for genuine spares if u buy them from service centres are
keypad - Rs. 600
display - Rs. 3200
connector - dont know
but still, after so much expenditure, they still wont guarantee for it to work though!
so, dyu think its time for me to let go of the phone??
If yes, then i have been looking at a few models, what do you think about the new samsung marine or star 3G??
Or suggest me a phone below Rs.10k and having maximum features... touchscreen is optional
If you are really affectionate to your VOX, then i'll suggest you to buy another VOx because i would have done the same.
else you can look for more mobile phones at poorvika.com, indiagsm.com, compareindia.com or gsmarena.com. but do tell me the one you buy.
try ordering online at ebay. i ordered mine for 42 US dollars just arrived 2 weks ago. Its an orginal housing front and back and including front and back keyboard. Il look again for the buyer and post his name here. Too bad fpc keypad is not included. But the housing is original.
Just get the service manual from winmodaco for htc vox
ditch it....
I went to the service centre. the guy there sed that the whole thing will cost a minimum Rs.3000 upto 70% of the phone cost ie. Rs.7000.
I think its time for me to move on [sob][sob]...
ah well, the phone served me well during its time....
goodbye HTC....
will post my new phone selection when i get it.

I think after using vox u can never be satisfied with Gene.
Vox is far much better, specially for those who love to watch video and movies on their phones since the video quality in GENE is far more inferior than VOX. but one thing is for sure that GENE in cheaper than vox but price hardly matters if u want satisfaction.

Update
Sorry for reviving the thread, but I need your opinion on the topic again.
The service center guy told me that there was a complete hardware failure( too obvious, cos the torn cable between the two halves were clearly visible)
He said that it would take Rs.10k($200 approx) for complete repair. This mindblowing charge made me gulp and i took the cellphone back. Coming back to home, I saw that the guy was just citing the obvious as he had most definitely not at all opened the phone and tested it for any other faults. So, i took up matters in my own hands and opened my phone(finally). Well, I had nothing to lose and hence, went ahead. After opening the phone, I saw that one the springs in the sliding apparatus had loosened, and come in the way of the cable. The flimsy cable had gotten caught and hence, had got torn due to sliding of the two halves.
In the end, after complete disassembly, I saw that the only visibly damaged part was the cable between the two halves. I cannot see any reason to charge 10k for that. So i am planning to go to the repair center and show him the damaged part only and ask him to replace it. Searching the net, I found that the replacement part for the rigid flex board( I believe that's what it is) is $89( mebbe totally $100 approx after shipping charges, etc..).
So, do I go ahead and order the replacement from the net and reassemble the whole thing on my own, or do I not risk it?
I am gonna buy a new phone anyway, mostly the samsung marine. It looks good, albeit the small screen.
what i think is, you should post some pics to show us. someone might be know what wrong with your phone.
also we not know what exact problem hardware you are facing. if you have extra money why not to take a risk. same to me when im trying to replace a ribbon cable in my hermes. the shop said it will be cost 80usd/280myr. so i decide to not repair it and let it be...
now im happy with my vox and kaiser...
I am in a catch 22 situation. I have to take a photo of my damaged vox, but my vox is the only decent camera in my house. Neways, to give you a rough idea of what is broken, I will attempt to photoshop a stock image of the component.
The site from where i obtained the image( http://mobile.brando.com.uk ) was selling the same for $38+$3(shipping). I want to know if this site can be trusted and also, what are the chances for me to fix the vox at home without any further damage.
When I opened the phone, I saw that the connection was pretty delicate, So, I am a bit cautious of a home repair.
PS: here is the link of the product: http://mobile.brando.com/htc-s710-rigid-flex-board_p03852c1023d088.html
@RxenDrav: If the site is good, you too can check for your item there.
Plz help...
K ppl nebody hv ne idea what shud i do now? shud i risk 35$ or go for a new phone?
akshay, unfortunately im not profesional and dont have any experience in dissamble or repairing htc vox. but i'd done before on my hermes..
Someone here should help akshay fixing their vox...Anyone out there? we need help here!
also akshay you also can buy a used vox from your indian friend check here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=554896
ask him
hi akshay,
instead of wasting your Rs. 2000 (approx), you can buy a second hand vox for Rs. 3000 (approx) at gaffar market in new delhi. Since i saw many of them being sold there yesterday. You can get a 'never disassembled' phone instead of disassembling your phone and then reassembling your phone.
I have faced this many times, that each time my vox has been disassembled, everytime a new problem arises. So dont be so sure even after buying that abovementioned part. I think you can look for a used vox in pune also. u can easily find a cheap and gud one.

It seems as though I have problems after problems. After replacing my cracked screen I accidentally ripped the internal antenna now I can not get any reception what so ever. I looked everywhere for an replacement but no luck. Please help!!
Wish you lick finding one...honestly at this point I would try to scrounge together the 90-100 bucks it would cost to just buy another g2x
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
But don't buy another g2x, seriously!
The noob says:
In the absence of a valid argument, 2+1=3 may be used to explain why the g2x did not get the ICS update!
ANTENNA!!
Hi;
Was reading your post; and feel your pain!

Parts can be expensive, then if you're doing the repair yourself, that's another risk factor.
If you can get some more money, get another phone altogether (be it another G2X or something else).

I found the internal antenna from Digi-Key! Haven't had a chance to install it thought but it is the right size and length.
Hey, guys. So, what happened is my XT925 fell screen straight down on ceramic tiles and the display just shattered. Well, the glass shattered, all right, but the display seems gone, since it no longer lights up at all, not a single bit of it. I have it connected to my monitor via hdmi and it's still up running and I'm keeping it connected to the PC to keep it up and running for not sure what reason. The digitizer is gone, too, it does not respond to touch anywhere.
The reason it just smashed is the freaking horrible case I got for it which didn't even hold on properly on that side, so there was nothing to hold it from smashing to the floor screen-first. Boy do I now regret going for the cheapest possible case, instead of buying a premium for something that would actually provide some protection to the thing.
Thing is, though, I really love this thing. It has been giving me everything I want from a smartphone for the past few months and I really want to get it fixed. The biggest trouble to this goal is that I live in Serbia, so shipping can cost aaa looot.
First thing that cross my mind, naturally, was looking for a new screen. On ebay I found chinese ones for ~$90, and some supposedly OEM ones from the US at ~110, but they included the whole front of the case plus a small toolkit, which is awesome, and I would definitely go for that before the chinese one.
But, then, I thought about something else. Finding a bricked XT926M, the HD MAXX, and making a hybrid of the two. I'd use the case, display and the battery of the MAXX and everything else from my phone. Although I'm not sure if all the sensors and the front camera are working (using keyboard to control Lollipop sucks ), so all the spare parts from the Maxx would be great to have just in case.
Now, problem is I can't find one. Does anyone know where I should look besides ebay? Even there most people are not willing to ship internationally. I can pay via paypal, that's not an issue.
So, in short, my questions are these - can a new whole front of the Razr HD (OEM) be found for less than a 100 bucks? Or where I could find a bricked HD Maxx in a very good condition exterior-wise? Please point me to somewhere, as I'd really love to get the poor thing back together And then get a proper case for it.
(Not sure if I should call on someone personally... @iBolski @Zeljko1234 @[] AL [] @bweN diorD @DorianX ?(sorry guys if you consider this spam))
I would browse through this help forum looking for the few threads where some other members had bricked phones. There was a good hand full if not more. Maybe you can arrange (via pm) to pay them the shipping to send it to you.
I don't think that would violate the rules of Xda, as there phone is basically trash anyway.

I'm pretty sure it wouldn't. I mean, PM stuff should really be private stuff... I was thinking about adding a "[WTB] A bricked XT926M in good shape" to my signature but that would surely be too much.
Also, are there any other places where I could look besides ebay?
And do you think my idea makes sense?

You can try Swappa, but broken phones of any nature aren't allowed there.
Your idea sounds reasonable, but I'm really no expert in that area.

There are so many bricked HD's around here... I didn't have a clue. Thought they were unbrickable, at least the unlocked ones. I'll try contacting some of those guys. It's not very cool, trying to get the carcasses of their dead RAZR HD's, but I hope I'll find someone willing to work it out with me.
Also, I must hand it to you, man. You seem to be the most helpful member in this section of the HD forum, it's remarkable. You and DorianX seem to be the locals around here. Huge respect for the two of you!
I'm not really that helpful ?
Poor thing looks as if it were on life support. Turned it off now, no reason to keep it running and I can turn it on again any time, anyway.
Still looking for parts, so... If anyone's got more tips, do share, please!

Unfortunately, I can't really help other than what was suggested. I already traded mine in when I got my new phone (LG G3), so I don't have it anymore.
eBay is your best bet. Just research the seller really well. Stay away from any new sellers. That's not to say all new sellers are bad, but you just never know. Pretty much any sellers with really high ratings are legit (depending on how many people have reviewed them). I usually look for sellers that have been around for years and have over 1k ratings and look to see how many other items they've sold.
Other than that, not sure what else you can do.

Hey, that's still advice, so thanks, mate I'm not a newbie at e-commerce, I've been doing it for years (albeit only locally, within Serbian borders) so I kind of now what to look for... But I was hoping there would be someone on the forums with a XT925/6/M he no longer needs. Oh, well, I'll keep my eyes open for a good deal, thanks guys!

Sorry to hear that, mate Last time you broke it, did you buy an OEM new one or one of the cheaper replacements available from China? And, if you ordered the one from China, how good or bad was it? I'm scared that if I order the cheaper one, I might end up with a non-AMOLED-who-knows-how-bad screen covered with non--gorilla glass and with a lousy digitizer... Am I too paranoid?
I bought the "cheaper" one I say cheaper cuz I only pay like $50 for the RAZR on 18 months plan and the China screen it cost $110 free shipping (like 1 year ago) was good I think the same as OEM, I think you are to paranoid [emoji38]
