Hey there. I used this site a couple of months ago to upgrade to WM5, and it worked just fine, (only problem was sim manager was missing).
Turns out my Destinator can't run on WM5, and my primary motive for buying the xda was GPS capability, so i REALLY need to either download some software with aussie maps that will run on WM5, or revert to 2K3 and use my legit copy.
Please help =)

What are the risks of putting the wrong rom on?
I have the stock standard 02 XDA2 (i think thats the himalaya to you guys? I'm from Oz...)
So I've gone for the Qtek 1.75 english rom which i think looks like the most likely one mine would use. Please advise... it's downloading currently.
not sure if it would accept a wrong rom at all
but it's the himalaya rom you need
and 1.75 is the latest official english rom

yes i can conferm it is avalible. i went into "Name Censored" today and the technitian "Name Censored" has a magician branded as i mate jam. he noticed my mda compact (o2 rom) and asked what OS im runing on so i said WM2003Se and he proceeded to show me his jam running WM5 i asked him where he obtained the rom and he claimed from imate themselfs.. they have relesed the update for the jam users. but you need a jam phone to obtain this update...
anyone with a jam phone check this out and share the rom?

dated 25/8/2005 ..... I don't know what it is especially the "Aus" acronym...

i personally cannot download the file i would test it but i dont have access to imate, i have mda unlocked with o2 rom, but if the imate link isnt hte rom yes i will get a romdump from his device but acording to "Name Censored" (the cute girl whos number i got in "Name Censored") he wont be in until tuesday so we would have to hold out... thats only if the imate link isnt the rom like he claimed. although i can conferm his jam was becuae i checked the settings and version, and the genral interface.. and im not wm5 shy so its a 100% diagnosis of the OS. keep me updated on the Imate rom. if not i shal romdump from his jam. the file will be 256mb as standard though.

Bro forget about the Imate site , You have a working device that has the WM5.0, dump it and then we can try to get it from Imate. Thus, I have access to imate roms, and especially to the Jams but I don't believe it's the wm2005!!!

Yes, it should go, but if you made some docx-files with office 6.1, you have to convert them ...
and you should save your PIM not with a backup tool, you should take activesync

I have done it from WM5 to WM6. Then to compare back to WM5 and still back to WM6. And not planing to do it again.

Ahh.. yeah.. it looks better.. I just use wisbar to compensate for that though.
And yes, video call is very important to me.
The best way is to send a mass mail for wm6 video call for uni to HTC.

It definitely is possible to go back to WM5.
In fact, after extensive experimenting with WM6 images designed by our gurus here, I regretfully had to go back to WM5, because I use my Exec for business; it was a hard decision to make, because I liked having new Office Mobile formats on board, but the following reasons brought me back to WM5:
1) inability to get onto Wi-Fi networks.
2) inability to get certificate stored on device for Exchange push mail (easily done on WM5, may be I didn't try hard enough on Six...)
3) hang-ups during off-peak hours when trying to leave GPRS/UMTS on.
4) minor niggling interface errors.
You just get an image for your brand of Universal and load it into the device as usual.

I noticed that after a hard reset the phone automatically runs a filed H3G.tsk , the phone then customises and then re-boots!
maybee all you people running Kaisers on three need to run the tsk file to be able to run it properly with the planet 3 etc...
I have attached it for you guys to try! please let me know (you could rename tsk to cab if it doesnt work)

I was thinking the same thing. It would be different if it was like 1.72 or something... especially since it's so new. But 1.27 is WAY old (and not 6.1 compatible).

I think it was a misprint because three's TyTN is only on WM 6.0
They haven't released an upgrade.

Hi 3UK sim users. I have unlocked my MDA Vario III and still with original wm6.1. I can use 3uksim for ringing in and out. If I use this 3UK rom will I be able to use 3 skype and planet 3 options. Has any one tried this?

yeah im also here for the 3 skype, im slightly worried hearing about the radio though and the fact that its wm6 and not 6.1? has anyone got anything to say about the quality of the 3UK rom/radio?
i heard skype are going to be allowing all 3g handsets to use the skype free calls offer, hope this is true...

Can we have an update in your first post in this thread as well then please. Unlike with a wiki where anyone can edit the page, you (or I guess a mod/admin person) are the only ones who can correct that. 3 UK users may be all excited seeing mention of WM 6.1, only to be disappointed when they find out it's still WM 6.0. FWIW I've found that as far as HTC TyTN II releases go, their WM 6.0 ROM/Radio combinations are superior so I can understand why 3UK don't have a WM 6.1 update (at least not here on xda-dev).
3 UK and Radio
Hi - I've upgrade to Win Mobile 6.1 (Shifu 13F) which works great, appart from not being able to hear or be heard in calls. Everything else works.
Radio is 1.27.15.32 (the original one I think) Is there not another radio that will work with this and other 6.1 roms? What is different about the 3 radio and others? Does this mean that those of us on 3 cannot use cooked roms?

Found a solution!!!!
I upgraded my radio to 1.70.18.02 and all works fine now, camera, sound and calls! Going to try it with a Win 6.5 rom soon as well!

Hey guys im from the uk and i use 3 UK pay as you go sim in my lovely kaiser, i can access 3 planet to check my balance and free stuffs, ive got installed Dutty's 6.1 rom, it recognised sim and also changed the network settings at setup so that i could use internet and access planet 3. One other thing i use the 1.70.19.09 radio, its pretty good, camera works, call quality is perfect no problems whatsover, GPS very responsive

i have just gotten hold of a 3 sim and i'm trying to access planet 3 services but without the certs included in the official 3 rom i am getting nowhere fast! can anyone offer some advice? do i need to decompile the 3 stock rom and rip the certs from there? any help would be appreciated! I heard mention of a cab called SDKCerts which may be exactly what i need - all i really want is the skpe installer from 3 so the data used for skype calls is free rather than being taken from my usage allowance (3 customer services have confirmed this is what will happen if i use skpe's own installer of the skype app!!!)

Anyone have my phone or similar and know which Cotulla rom I should upgrade with? I only have 2003SE and have an iPhone 3g and to be honest disappointed with it!! Will be in the market for a new smartphone/ppc soon but atm would be interested in breathing some new life into this old phone. I don't use much data (grps) but have the Sandisk Wificard which I use at hotspots, etc. English rom aswell, thanks!

Sorry bout the Vista part it seems unless you search a round abit, the USB drivers on Vista don't seem to work properly. You could try flashing on Windows 2000. It's either it will or it won't detect the phone during the RUU's detecttion procedure
Hello, this is my first post, so im not sure if this is the right place.
So... I have a qtek 9100 that i got from a cousin, he had a weird version of wm installed on it, that consumed a lot of battery and the device was always on heat (i mean it was hot). I installed an xda mobile 6 (wm6 cooked by nefraz) and i want to downgrade it to wm5 again, so i can install another OS. I am not sure about if my device is g3 or g4, i have looked up in the forum and i have seen that i could kill my device, (i didnt see that when i installed the xda mobile 6, so i guess i was lucky), now... the spl and ipl says that i got 3.08, but how this tells me if this is g3 or 4? i saw that i could see this by the number of zeros, but i saw the example only with 1xx or 2xx... not 3, im not sure about doing anything without knowing what im doing because of the killing thing xD... IN SUMMARY, how to downgrade to 1.01 since 3.08 wm6? or how i install a better version? i dont like this one, looks like vista and its pretty slow. Hehe...
