yes i can conferm it is avalible. i went into "Name Censored" today and the technitian "Name Censored" has a magician branded as i mate jam. he noticed my mda compact (o2 rom) and asked what OS im runing on so i said WM2003Se and he proceeded to show me his jam running WM5 i asked him where he obtained the rom and he claimed from imate themselfs.. they have relesed the update for the jam users. but you need a jam phone to obtain this update...
anyone with a jam phone check this out and share the rom?

dated 25/8/2005 ..... I don't know what it is especially the "Aus" acronym...

i personally cannot download the file i would test it but i dont have access to imate, i have mda unlocked with o2 rom, but if the imate link isnt hte rom yes i will get a romdump from his device but acording to "Name Censored" (the cute girl whos number i got in "Name Censored") he wont be in until tuesday so we would have to hold out... thats only if the imate link isnt the rom like he claimed. although i can conferm his jam was becuae i checked the settings and version, and the genral interface.. and im not wm5 shy so its a 100% diagnosis of the OS. keep me updated on the Imate rom. if not i shal romdump from his jam. the file will be 256mb as standard though.

Bro forget about the Imate site , You have a working device that has the WM5.0, dump it and then we can try to get it from Imate. Thus, I have access to imate roms, and especially to the Jams but I don't believe it's the wm2005!!!

Hey there. I used this site a couple of months ago to upgrade to WM5, and it worked just fine, (only problem was sim manager was missing).
Turns out my Destinator can't run on WM5, and my primary motive for buying the xda was GPS capability, so i REALLY need to either download some software with aussie maps that will run on WM5, or revert to 2K3 and use my legit copy.

What are the risks of putting the wrong rom on?
I have the stock standard 02 XDA2 (i think thats the himalaya to you guys? I'm from Oz...)
So I've gone for the Qtek 1.75 english rom which i think looks like the most likely one mine would use. Please advise... it's downloading currently.

umm windows mobile 6 is not offered for the MDA, just the Dash. This has been established MANY times already.
Version 2.26 was just a more stable version of windows mobile 5 than what had previously shipped with the mdas.

If you click the MDA download and then type a valid TMO phone number its just thier 2.26 package which has WM5
I'll wait and check if anyone can guess what's currently on my uni!!!

Now, is it the radio rom which is screwed up? What could it be, now i sure am clueless :-?
The problem is - my phone goes to sleep with me at night, I wake up, and my phone doesnt! Only the radio portion is dead, and the rest of the device is usable.
Is there any tool like a "LOW LEVEL FORMAT" on my uni? So that i can wipe out ever resident bit on it to get it to a virgin state?

1. Out of curiosity, what Radio version are you using with wm5?
2. Is it the same Radio version provided by the seller of your Universal brand?
3. If not, than can you flash the original Radio version version provided by the seller of your Universal brand and see the difference then?

I made no changes, continued running in 1.17 radio.....and hasnt crashed as yet The same config crashed last morning, and hasnt crashed since then....it looks very stable so far, no soft resets at all :-/
I hate wm5 for many many reasons, i'm thissss close to jumping back...
I miss the phone app of wm6, miss the keyboard shortcuts all over (messaging app mainly!) and quick searching feature. I'll try cooking a custom wm5 rom with wm6's phone and messaging app when i have some time, if that works, then that would be just perfect!

Its 1.17 radio....looks like its working fine now! will wait a while longer and post in....looks like wm5 is no doubt much more stable when compared to wm6

It throws "cprog.exe is not a valid Pocket PC Application" and the phone module does not power up at all :-/
Looks like wm6's phone app is not designed to run on wm5. Can someone else with more experience give a shot at this?

hi, for my case, i have based the last official xv6700 rom aku v3.3, it is wm5, and i downloaded Microsoft Device Emulator wm6. my idea is wm6 os, with official wm5 hardware driver. put wm6 os to replace wm5 os in the aku v3.3 rom.
i still have not to start move any files. because i don't know what is files need to moves.

I guess if you have a Touch Cruise, and not a UK O2 branded XDA you'll have to go to the HTC site
That is correct, the HTC branded devices have different firmware to the o2 branded devices. You can obtain that from the HTC website.

Orbit 2 WM6.1 ROM
Loaded it today!
A couple of nice tweaks but I still feel the os needs a major revamp which will hopefully come with WM7.0.
I'm not a big stylus user and a couple of things really bug me, especially the silly little 'x' to close windows in the top right of the screen.
Whenever I'm in the Comms Manager and want to close the thing I seem to keep turning on 'airplane mode' rather than hitting the 'x' button because they're so close to each other!
I still think the device is the best out there though.
just wondering if anyone else has found this problem at som points my orbit will freeze and then start reacting like 10 seconds later.
This is the only problem i have yet to find/annoy me with the rom so far so quite happy, even more happy by the speed increase over the original rom
Hi, i downloaded the rom update, from O2 was wondering if gps and tomtom work fine still, and also with igo 8, i dont wanna flash it and find my gps wont work, thanks peeps.
I have updated to 6.1 and all appears OK, in fact I havn't noticed any major diffirence. For info I have both TomTom and CoPilot working OK.
I am no expert on this ROM upgrading lark, but it took me hours to get my Orbit back to its previous state with the installation and configuration of various apps.
Do those brave guys who are constantly changing their ROMS have to go through hours of re-configuration each time or is there an easy way??

is that with your internal gps, i have not got a clue myself about this stuff, you dont unplug anything while its doing it do you.
Battery life seems much improved. Also, the QuickGPS util works very well and a lock can be had in seconds rather than minutes.
One funny - my Direct Push email would not work correctly after the initial upgrade. I could download all my content but the device refused to stay in sync requiring a send/receive to empty the Outbox. No amount of deleting/recreating the Exchange partnership helped. In the end I chose "Clear Storage" and did it all again from scratch. That did the trick....

I'm trying to upgrade my orbit 2 from wm6 to 6.1 using the official patch on the 02 website. When I enter in my serial number I get the download link with some instructions.
One such instruction is...
"Please note that if you already have CoPilot satellite navigation software on your Xda, read this installation manual (links to PDF) before upgrading to Windows Mobile 6.1"
The PDF talks about upgrading from wm5 to wm6 with co pilot 6 installed. Now im upgrading from 6 to 6.1 with copilot 7 installed
Do I still need to follow the guide? or can I just install the upgrade without touching the copilot 7?
I dont want to lose the use of the co pilot software by not deactivating it prior to the upgrade.
I tried calling o2 but they were useless.

That would be really helpful. I don't want to waste a couple of evenings reinstalling and reconfiguring all my applications if 6.1 doesn't do a lot more than 6.0 (or the things which have changed are things which I wouldn't use). Anybody know?
Hello, this is my first post, so im not sure if this is the right place.
So... I have a qtek 9100 that i got from a cousin, he had a weird version of wm installed on it, that consumed a lot of battery and the device was always on heat (i mean it was hot). I installed an xda mobile 6 (wm6 cooked by nefraz) and i want to downgrade it to wm5 again, so i can install another OS. I am not sure about if my device is g3 or g4, i have looked up in the forum and i have seen that i could kill my device, (i didnt see that when i installed the xda mobile 6, so i guess i was lucky), now... the spl and ipl says that i got 3.08, but how this tells me if this is g3 or 4? i saw that i could see this by the number of zeros, but i saw the example only with 1xx or 2xx... not 3, im not sure about doing anything without knowing what im doing because of the killing thing xD... IN SUMMARY, how to downgrade to 1.01 since 3.08 wm6? or how i install a better version? i dont like this one, looks like vista and its pretty slow. Hehe...
