Wm6.1 Sms Inbox Question?

in wm6 when i went into messages/sms/inbox there would be a complete list of messages sent to me and they would be individual irrespective of where they came from.
now in wm6.1 there is a list of received messages but if i get another message from the same number it puts it inside itself and calls itself
"conversation with" so if you click on a message from 12345 it opens up loads of other messages from 12345.
when inside you can't delete individual messages but you can delete the first message in the inbox but then that deletes all messages in its sub folder.
my question is simple...can anyone advise how i can go back to using the wm6 version of messages/inbox?????
i know theres a boffin out there with the answer
Yep - take a look here and install the "Disable SMS threading" cab file
Hope this helps

Or, you could get off your high horse and help the poor geezer.
thanx dontpanic you are elevated to a god like status in my eyes.....
only upgraded the rom 4 days ago and didn't know this particular thing was called "sms threading" (thats why i couldn't do a search orb3000) i just knew it was bloody irritating..found the cab as you helpfully advised and it works tip top so i'm a happy bunny again.....(amazing how the little things bug us)
Hehe! Its the first CAB I install on a new 6.1 ROM
Simple switch ...
This is how I did it:
Goto --> start-settings
Then click on the "system" tab at bottom
Look for "Text Messaging" and select
Here you can change from "Threaded" to "Classic"
Hope this helps .

Threaded SMS (Conversation)

Interesting oddity I've noticed with my new HTC Touch Pro.
I'm new to this threaded SMS (been using WM5.0 for years) and I kind of like it, but I also like to keep my SMS inbox clean. (habit over the years).
So when I delete a conversation I expect the messages I sent to be in the "sent items" folder and the messages I received to be in the "deleted items" folder.
The latter appears to be true, I have all of the SMS messages that were sent to me (received) but NONE of the messages I sent are in the "sent items" folder?!?!?
What's up with that?
I know I can disable this new threaded SMS (conversation) "feature", but I kind of like it. I just want to be able to keep what I sent and what I received for archive purposes in case the info is needed in future.
Thoughts?

There is a setting in SMS that you have to set for it to save messages to the sent folder.
Where is the setting?

Can you elaborate on this alleged setting?
Gripe #2...
When you start a new SMS it keeps track of how many characters you have left out of your 160 character quota.
But...
When you are in a "conversation" there is no character counter!
Anyone know if there is a way to turn one on?
Custom ROMs are looking more and more attractive after playing with this new WM6.1 phone for 3 days.
Strange behavior?

PS... In Messaging, Under Tools/Options/Message "Keep copy of sent messages in Sent folder" is checked ON in my phone
Interesting discovery though...
Now I notice when I delete a conversation all messages (sent or received) within the conversation go to the deleted items folder. Not ideal, as I'd like my sent messages to be in the Sent Items folder, but at least all messages are somewhere in an archive.
Now I ask, what is the purpose of the Sent Items folder if nothing is stored there when in conversation mode (except current conversations)?

Its just the way they wrote the program.
I believe there is a reg edit to change your max characters in SMS but as far as it not showing from one interface to another, no fix.

Whatsapp Chat Conversation Email

Hi,
I tried exporting my whatsapp conversation via email. This conversation is received to mail box in .txt file attachment. Once the file is downloaded to pc and opend with notepad as usual, the chat messages with our local language (hindi, india) are not displayed. Only square boxes are displayed in notepad. (making the conversation backup useless) What i need to do so that all the messages are displayed in pc ? (Eng msg are displayed correctly)(emoji not displayed is ok for me)
regards

You will have to make sure that the app you are reading it with has the language plugin installed. Most Notepad apps dont have that language by default.
