Hi,
I tried exporting my whatsapp conversation via email. This conversation is received to mail box in .txt file attachment. Once the file is downloaded to pc and opend with notepad as usual, the chat messages with our local language (hindi, india) are not displayed. Only square boxes are displayed in notepad. (making the conversation backup useless) What i need to do so that all the messages are displayed in pc ? (Eng msg are displayed correctly)(emoji not displayed is ok for me)

You will have to make sure that the app you are reading it with has the language plugin installed. Most Notepad apps dont have that language by default.

In Windows Mobile 6.1 the sms was now threaded.
Which is good but i have some question
how to display the received time in the sms.cos for now it only show date.
thx
I have the same question.... Maybe show something like 2/13/08 5:32 PM next to each message in the thread would be excellent
I would also like to know how to delete an specific message from a thread. I tried click/hold, but only displays select all. There's no delete option for just one message.. only the complete thread.
Same thing here.. Can't delete specific sms.. the only thing that i can do is to delete the entire thread of sms.. =(

While viewing the thread, use your D-pad (arrows) to select the desired message to delete, it will turn blue, then you can delete/forward/etc.. to that SMS, this is also the ONLY way you can forward a message.
what about searching all your texts? you used to be able to type in anything and search for any text with that word in it. it was so helpful and i dont think u can do it anymore any one know?
thanks for the information, kasush!
i have another question. when in inbox, the choices at the bottom are "delete" and "menu". would it be possible to replace "delete" with "new"?
Is there any way of removing the "threaded SMS" altogether
(i.e. go back to the traditional viewing options??
i did this on the universal but im sure it will work on all devices
Remove Threaded SMS & Return To Traditional SMS
Open a registry editor and navigate to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\
add a folder "OEM" (without the quote marks)
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Inbox\Settings\OEM\
add a dword value "SMSInboxThreadingDisabled" (without the quote marks)
and set it to 1
ta-da! you now have traditional SMS
using Mode sms for disabling threaded msg is much easy go here

SMS Folders
I'm unable to create SMS folders in WM 6.1. Option is disabled. It was very easy with Windows Mobile 6
Can´t ENABLE threaded view
I just got an Acer DX900 with WM6.1 pro and I noticed the sms inbox is shown in the old non-threaded view.
I´d like to use the threaded view I had before in my previous HTC phone.
I´ve checked and the registry key (SMSInboxThreadingDisabled) is not present so I don´t understand why the messages are not shown in threaded view.
Any ideas???
how to change number of SMS (is thread view) displaying on one site (default 12) to other number?
SMS for configuring MMS
Hi all,
my provider (t-mobile germany) have a service to automaticly configure internet and mms on windows handys.
he sends a sms, which I have to "install". This worked on my old windows versions. but in the new one, with threaded sms, the question to install the configuration, don't apear.
Do anyone know, how to install this configuration sms?
greetings from germany.
Harry
The easiest way to change your sms from threaded to the original (classic) individual messages is to go your system settings (start menu, settings, system tab). There should be an icon for text messaging, in there you can switch between classic and threaded.

Nice Job dude!!
Is there such a thing as Contact or SMS metadata in Android? If so, how do I clear it?
I jumped through some hoops importing some contacts from my old WM phone and some of them didn't import correctly. The problem only appears when I try to send the contact an SMS message - somehow, someway, only in the Messaging app, the contacts mobile number starts with a comma (e.g. ",314-555-1234")
I found an app that will backup SMS messages to an XML file and have cleaned that up. I deleted all messages from the contact. I've even deleted the contact both on the phone and my gmail contacts.
With that done I restore the SMS messages and *BOOM* it shows up again with the leading comma. If you watch fast enough, it will even flash my contacts name before it switches to just displaying the number because there's no contact for it. So the question is - where the heck is it getting that leading comma from and how do I get rid of it?
i need an answer to this also
I have the same problem after I imported data from WM. I can send new SMS but not reply becouse there is a comma before some phone numbers.
I tried export SMS to .xml or .txt - there wasn't any comma before phone numbers. After that I deleted all contacts and SMS in my phone and restarted it. I edited .xml - deleted all names, there were only phones numbers left. After I imported this .xml. To my surprise I could see also Contacts names with SMS number!! How can the SMS program now the names?? Is there any Contact cache?
After I restored the main Contacts the comma is back :-(
(My phone - LG Optimus black, An. 2.2.2)
I found the solution
I have to delete file "mmssms.db" and restart phone.
-run Terminal Emulator on phone (superuser must be installed):
su
rm /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
--restart phone and import SMS -> comma is gone

Thank you! This fixed a problem where [email protected] was being associated to contacts in SMS and making replies fail. I deleted the mmssms.db file on my Samsung Epic Touch and the problem is gone.
Note that the vm.vonage.com problem occurs when you have Vonage set to send you text messages when you receive a voicemail. If one of your gmail/phone contacts leaves you a voicemail at Vonage and you then receive the text message from Vonage with their number prepending @vm.vonage.com, you will no longer be able to reply to text messages from that contact.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU! This has been one of the bane's of my existence for almost a year now! I had the same problem with all the [email protected] voicemail texts taking over my SMS. Got me in trouble with the wife I don't know how many times, when I thought I had texted her back. :crying:
By the way, don't know if this issue is the reason or not, but Vonage seems to have gone to where all voicemails come from a single number (don't remember what it is but it's one of the 5 digit numbers) and the text starts out with the number the call is from. So this shouldn't be an issue anymore with Vonage voicemails anyway.

It looks as though you may have solved the problem, & perhaps your solution could have helped me! However, I eventually solved it another way, so I thought I'd post for the benefit of others who may have the issue.
I had this problem with just one contact for about two years. When I received texts from her, I noticed that they showed up with a comma in front of the number. Hence, the number that I was trying to reply to was not valid. I had to manually type her # in every time. I edited the contact dozens of times from both my phone & Outlook, and even tried deleting & recreating it. I got a new phone today, and this one shows me more details than the old one. I was able to see that I had her mobile # set up twice. One number had a plus in front of it. As soon as I deleted the # with the extra plus, my problem went away. I think the issue was that I had her set up as a contact in multiple locations: Outlook & one of my two Gmail accounts. When it tried to merge the two, it kept them as two different numbers because the number formats were different...only it didn't show me that that's what it was doing! I'm guessing I didn't delete all of the occurrences of that contact when I deleted (probably just one, or one at a time), so when I recreated it & it tried to match them up again, the issue came back. Hope this helps!

Dear friends i am very much new to this forum and android.
i s have shifted from Nokia so few things I really miss about that and copy and paste message into phone memory for forwarding to some one some other time is one of them.
I Nokia we had a option to paste any text in Nokia communication center and then save it as message for later use and import in phone to use as template or something like this. I have surfed lot and did not find any suitable pc suite or software to do this so I figured out a method to import new messages to phone memory or inbox without having phone attached or saved or backed up from nokia pc suite.
First of all you should have following softwares
For Pc
1. My phone Explorer
2. ABC Amber nokia converter
3. Microsoft Excel
For Phone
1. Import Sms(Full Version)
Method
Here is step by step process with images
1. Open My phone Explorer and click on the message>and draft
2. Then click on the new message icon on the tool bar like this
After this copy your text and save it as draft
Now open Message windows of My phone explorer and right click the selected message to save/ Export it
Now export/ Save the selected message in nokia message format *.VMG format
Now you have to open ABC Amber Nokia converter and open the folder containing *.VMG nokia message files like this
And save then In CSV Format like below
After that open that message file in Microsoft Excel and edit the message like delete first three Columns and first row
Now make Arrangement of the columns like this so that I should look like Nokia CSV format to import in Android
Now please remember write sms in first column, in second column write submit, in third keep empty and fourth is for the no from where you have received message so keep it empty as well and in 5th keep empty and in sixth write date as “ yyyy.mm.dd HH:mm, seventh is empty and eighth is message body
After that save that CSv message, any warning click yes
Now put that message file onto sd card of your mobile
Open “SMS Importer(ful version)” and give path of your file
Now clock menu and click “preview and import” on phone menu
Its done message will be in your inbox
sorry for the screen shots you can download the whole procedure in doc format from address below
/office/9rnvAxVJ/file.html it is on 4shared.com
you can also download sms impoter full version here

How to Copy and Paste Multiple Messages in Whatsapp
Whatsapp allows you to copy a single message by long pressing it, But occasionally we need to copy part of a conversation, which is not supported by Whatsapp. Here is a way to do this. Hope it comes handy.
Requirements:
Whatsapp application.
Jota Text Editor application (available in Play market).
Method:
Open the conversation to copy messages from in Whatsapp.
Press menu button and select "More" then "Email conversation" then select "Without media" then select any of the Email applications shown, for example "Gmail" but don’t send any message just cancel.
Open the Jota Text Editor application.
Press menu button and select "File" and "Open" then select the "Whatsapp" folder, then "Media" folder, then ".Shared" folder. You will see the name of the conversation you asked to Email earlier. Open it.
You will see all the messages of the conversation and you can copy multiple messages from here.
Notes:
We used "Jota Text Editor" application, but you can use any text editor or file explorer that can open a TXT file.
This method is for Android system, but can be used for other systems with minor modifications.
Use a file explorer to dispose accumulated TXT conversations in the ".Shared" folder. This folder is hidden but file explorers has an option to show hidden folders and files.

I am trying to send contacts vcf file as mms from galaxy S7 to another S7, but it appears as text file instead of vcf file in message app even though send as mms option is selected. The message app displayed vcf file in the format below. Due to this, contacts cannot be saved directly.
Begin: Vcard
Version:...
N:...
FN:Tel:0400..
End: Vcard
Has anyone ever see these symptoms before and / or know if there is anything I can do to diagnose / fix the problem.
Thanks in advance.

It's a text file, once converted to mms your contacts app can't read it anymore.
Email the text file to yourself ,open with contacts on the new S7 , save contacts.

I am converting a phone number from Contact app to mms format to share it via messaging app. But the problem is that the recipient Message app displays it in text format as above instead of mms format. This problem is happening with only one S7 phone and other phones are displaying mms vcf file correctly to save it directly to Contacts.
