Any way to only recv email when on WiFi not GPRS? - General Topics

Hi, in Windows Mobile 5.0 (O2 Xda Mini S) is there any way to set the POP3 Messaging client to automatically download new e-mails every few minutes *only* when connected to a Wireless network (i.e. free of charge downloads), but *not* when connected via GPRS (paid for)?

Windows Mobile 5 & ActiveSync 4.2 Pass-through

Hi all,
I have an XDA IQ (HTC Tornado) device that on the whole I'm very happy with but it keeps throwing an annoying error message at me, every time I try to sync with my desktop PC.
Activesync is set up to synchronise with our corporate Exchange server, which we connect to via a private GPRS APN, which has no Internet connectivity. For my private POP3 email, I use O2's Mobile Web GPRS APN, which resolves to Internet. I've created a domain exception to ensure that whilst mobile, the correct connection is established, depending on whether I'm synchronising my private or corporate e-mail.
All is well here but when I connect to my windows PC to synchronise my other PIM data (Contacts, Calendar, Tasks & Favourites), my phone throws an error message at me, because I guess it's trying to sync to the Exchange server via my desktop PC and there is no connectivity.
The error reads: "Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Data Connections".
It makes no difference if I change my ActiveSync connection settings so that "This computer is connected to:" "Internet", "Work" or "Automatic" the error message always appears on my handset when I sync with my PC.
Can any of you think of any way around this please?
Is there any way of persuading ActiveSync not to sync with Exchange whilst connected to my PC or better still, to exclusively associate the Exchange sync with the private GPRS APN connection?
My guess is that anyone setting their device up to sync with Exchange via an internal WiFi network might be facing the same issue..
Any help you can provide would be much appreciated!
I've had issues like this before but usually a reboot of the computer and phone get it working again. Make sure you've installed the certificate for your webmail (if one is required) and that you can connect to the exchange server when you're not connected to the computer. You may also be having a problem on your internal network, try connecting to webmail from your desktop as well.

Blackberry Connect GPRS Not Working

hotmail connected via cellar when wifi is available

Hi there,
I have a question about an annoying problem that I've only managed to find one (unanswered) question to on the web.
I have an HTC Touch HD (WM6.1) which I use to read email from my Hotmail account, amongst other things. The problem is that the messaging client ALWAYS tries to download my mail via 3G/GPRS even when there's a WiFi connection available. This occurs both when I initiate the send/receive using TouchFlo 3D or from within the mail client.
Connection manager is, as far as I'm aware, configured correctly, and PIE/Opera/weather will all happily use WiFi to connect to the internet, only using my data connection when WiFi isn't available.
The same results occur with connection manager configured in either of the following ways:
Internet Connection = "My ISP" settings with 3G modem connection
Work Connection = Default "My Work Network" settings
WiFi Access Point = Connects to Internet
Network Card = Connects to Internet
OR
Internet Connection = "My Work Network" with 3G modem connection and "This network connects to the internet" enabled
Work Connection = As Internet Connection
WiFi Access Point = Connects to Work
Network Card = Connects to Work
Interestingly, if I disable my data connection and enable WiFi I CAN send/receive mail over the WiFi connection, so it seems like the data connection is being used in preference to the WiFi one.
Is this a known issue or am I doing something wrong?!
Thanks,
Mike
What´s the version of your ROM?
Is the device labeld by Vodafone?
There is an option when setting up the email account in pocket outlook to select the preferred connection for the account. It is in one of the advanced options pages when setting up the account. Normally it is setup for THE INTERNET so your WiFi adapter should point to the same.
Now, I use a little Mortscript to switch-on the WiFi and immediately change my Network Selection to NO DATA, which is just an empty setting (no internet connection). This effectively shutdowns the GPRS / 3G connection and pocket outlook has to use the WiFi route.

ActiveSync vs GPRS

Hello!
Can anybody help me with such question?
How to use GPRS-internet on my device while it is connected to the desktop with ActiveSync? It tries to connect only through ActiveSync not using GPRS, but the desktop uses proxy for internet, so for example weather application or mail application can't update their information.
Thanks
