Hello,
I think it's a good experience to upgrade to this Rom because she contain the AKU2 from microsoft.
Exchange server administrator will enjoy it !
With Aku2 you can create policies for mobile device who sync with exchange, push mail, meeting contacts... make remote wipe..

Has anyone got direct push email working with WM5.0 yet? I'm not clear on wether it needs the messaging and security feature pack in additon to Exchange 2003 SP2. I'm running wm5.0 on my Himilaya and Exchange 2003 SP2 with the 'direct push over https' enabled but no joy...
you'll need new ROM incorporating MSFP on your device to do so
rats. I was hoping someone would say 'you'll need the msfp - here's a link to pre-release i found down behind the sofa' or something. it's incorporated into the rom is it?
All,
I have setup my exchange 2003 sp2 for direct push, can some tell me how I can configure my MDA Vario II in order to work with direct push?
Thanks
Msuk
You need to sync your device using ActiveSync, it will recognise that your device and Exchange are push enabled, and display addition settings for syncing with Exchange.
The only challenge you may have is ensuring that you have the relevant certifcates installed on your device if using SSL
Hi,
Is there a guide or something I could use to set this up?
Thanks
Msuk

Managed to get it all working
I'm having problems setting up my Vodafone v1605 for Direct Push with my Exchange server.
I'm pretty sure it's to do with SSL certifcates. Do I have to purchase a certificate as a self-signed cert doesn't appear to work?
Hi,
You can use your own certs, I created mine using SelfSLL then exported the cert as a .cer file and installed it on my Vario II.
Thanks
Hello,
I would like to have your experience feedbacks about Direct Push and SSL under WM5.
I have my own authority of certification (Windows 2003 Server) and I generated the root certificate and installed this one in the terminal.
But activesync does not function (error 8001014). Lot of articles covers the subject, how to add certificates root, the activesync errors, but nothing goes. I spent already much time on the subject.
Then I decided to contact Microsoft. The answer is surprising: Microsoft use direct push with HTTP and not with https (strange isn't it ?)
Here their answer: "Indeed, we have in-house HTC but we pass in HTTP and not in https… If not, WM5 in SSL functions and all the incidents which I saw relate to WM5 and not WM6 and the resolution were to pass in HTTP "
I have create this post to know if somebody made a success of this exploit or if it is really impossible...
Thanks in advance
PS: Does WM6 works with SSL/Direct Push/Own certificate ?
Anyone Please ?
I am using SSL over WM6 right now. What I did was I renamed my *.crt file to *.cer and then put it into the mobile phone and clicked on it to install the certificate. After that I can use SSL over Exchange.

Do you have FormBased Authentication enabled? If so; read this: http://www.petri.co.il/problems_with_forms_based_authentication_and_ssl_in_activesync.htm
And perform option 3. I'm running Exchange 2003 with SLL and Form Based Authentication enabled, and having pushmail.
I am not exactly using Exchange Server but something similar. It is a software by Kerio called Kerio Mail Server. It has push mail features and many other features that exchange lack. Setup is very simpler for me on Kerio than on Exchange but the procedure for setting up Push Mail is very simple: go into your pocket pc, setup the server information and ssl if using it. Then download the certificate from the kerio mail server and rename the file from *.crt to*.cer for windows mobile to be able to install it. Then once it is installed, you can sync and receive mail on pocket pc using push mail. I am not familiar with Form Based Authentication and I think it has no relationship with Push Mail unless you are using it without SSL. I don't think you can use Form Based Authentication since there is only SSL option in the pocket pc. Hope this helps!

I don't know what Georgeot uses for mail. I assumed he used Exchange. And with exchange there is a problem with the ActiveSync, FormBased Authentication and SSL on one computer.

I saw in you other post that you are running : 8.1.122...strange version ...
Exchange 2007 SP1 is : 8.1.240.0
And Exchnage 2007 is : 8.0.685.0
What's your exchange ?
SP1 beta 2
rollup package 3 for exchange 2007 is needed

Certificate?
I also BELIEVE that you need a CA Security Certificate. Self Signed doesn't work. Don't have direct proof of this statement only from reading documentation and the fact that in other arenas (including Sharepoint integration) you have to use a CA Cert.
anyone tried this with getztek ?
0x85010015 - 1
Also have you tried the disable TASKS in Activesynch, soft reset, enable TASKS in sync trick?
0x85010015 - 2
For testing just yourself with a qualititively different phone in terms of either hardware or ROM on the phone - this is a long shot because you don't have others at the Enterprise to test this idea before deciding it is only happening to you or everyone
It is a long PIA to do but actually worked for me the other day. Remember in this case - the clue was that it was only one person in the Enterprise having the problem. All others (with identical phones) were not.
Somewhere DEEP in Google Groups is a discussion (sorry I lost the link) of this error code which saved me the other day when it was only happening to ONE person in the Enterprise.
In essence there is a corrupt entry in their Exchange Storage somewhere. The fix is to:
Back their mailbox up to a PST by ExMerge or Export tool in Outlook
Run the PST repair tool on the PST file
Delete their Mailbox in Exchange.
Run Exchange Cleanup
Create a new empty mailbox
Import their data from the PST file.
Like I say - long shot but worked for me.
I was able to test on a SP1 Exchange 2K7 a real one and it works
Cheers

I use a hosted exchange mailbox, syncing & push email work perfect for me, even with WM6.1, never tried it with the original roms but my cooked one has no issue with exchange for sure!
Hi, I just upgraded to the official Dutch WM 6.1 ROM. Everything is working great... except Exchange sync! I get the error 0x85010015 too. The system administrator says he is already running Exchange 2007 SP1 which would contain the mensioned update.
Does anyone have an idea on what I can try to get Exchange sync working?
Exchange 2007 SP1 here, and works fine with every WM6.1 ROM i have tested (including official ones by HTC)...
Cheers.
I this a production E2K7 environment? Why not install RTM bits???
I'm on HTC's "official" WinMo 6.1 Rom on my Tilt and have no issues with email sync ... as for certs to the listener in the ISA server, you can use self signed (not recommender), but unified certs with multiple alternate names are problematic on ISA Server 2006.
Hi all, I have configurated my imap gmail account on my pc outlook 2007 and is working fine. Now, when try to synchronize my outlook mobile emails with my pc, the mobile doesn't get any email from my computer. It seems like the imap account is not linked with the main outlook folders but to a new imap folder linked to gmail which is not recognized by activesync. The mobile runs under windows mobile 6.1, does anyone had a similar experience? how can I configure my outlook 2007/outlook mobile? I try to configure outlook mobile on my device but it looks like is not possible or must be done automatically when connected to my pc.
Thanks!
bugs on samsung omnia ii firmware
hi all, I've been reading on the internet and found that apparently there are some bugs on the rom of my device (omnia ii) which are partially solved by a new firmware release that can only be flashed at the samsung service center... By the time being it seems like there have been 9 releases but most of them still have any bug so think will wait to the windows mobile 6.5 upgrade which is expected for october. Anyway I do not recomend buying this phone until samsung guarantees that all the problems are solved given that very important fuctions on a smartphone like the e-mail are not working properly.
