When I reconnect my BT dongle after unplugging it the selected COM port disappears from the choices in ActiveSync.
Is there any way round this?
I'm using the WIDCOMM BT software. Would it help to download something else?

but
its not working

dont know what to do ???!!?!?!?!?!?!?
PLEASE HELP
open your bluetooth setting first then add incoming port... to your o2 mini active sync, tap onnect via bluetooth...
solution that works
Hi,
I've found this article on another forum. I have tried it and it works !!!
1 To sync with BT first delete all your pairing with your computer and phone on both devices.
2 Go to BT Manager on your phone and click both check boxes for Inbound and Outbound COM ports and pair the devices.
3 Once they are paired go to BT manager (on the phone) again and click on the start button (for BT ActiveSync setup) and pair the devices again if you have to.
4 Once that is done make sure that on the computer in BT Settings the the Serial Port Profile (SPP) "Serial Port COM4" is checked.Click on the phone device>property>services.
5 After that on the computer's BT Manager itself ensure that the COM ports folder shows incoming and outgoing ports with the phone's name in front.
6 Open ActiveSync (on the computer) ensure that the COM port no. is the same as the Incoming COM port no. given in step 5 above and it being shown as available. Sometimes if it is unavailable, the computer needs to be rebooted and then it will be shown as available.
7 Click on ActiveSync thru BT on the phone and it should work.
8 Whenever you wanna disconnect ActiveSync press stop on the compouter to disconnect.
i hapen to have upgraded my bluesoleil software to the latest version 5.05 build 176..
have lots of new features and stability and all.. but i can not BT activesync with this version..
my previous version connects instantly with activesync (despite the sudden stuck ups and disconnections)..
i do the standard discovery and pairing methods in connecting via bluetooth..
and my qtek 9090 (wiza200) can see the activesync service on my PC via BT..
but after that, when i go to activesync>menu>connect via bluetooth.. i am once again prompted that i don't have a PC that have activesync.. so i recheck, and refresh the bluetooth devices and see my PC having activesync service..
anyway.. the new version of Bluesoleil have COM3 and COM4 as the available Bluetooth serial ports, while my 9090 can only create outgoing ports for COM6 and COM7.. i believe this is the reason why AS over BT won't connect.. i remember that i used to have COM6 as my BT serial port on my PC (and activesync)- the same as the outgoing port on my PPC..
now, my question, how can i add COM3 to the list of outgoing BT com ports on my QTEK 9090??
afaik once u've paired a device you must configure outgoing com port via bluetooth-> com ports.
Totally forgot how to do this but if your still stuck I can reinstall bluesoliel and check it out. I remember having some sort of problem that took me a while to figure out. Something to do with the pc only recognizing the device for a few seconds, giving me less than 5 sec window to sync or something like that.
BTW what aku are you currently running on your device??
I have a bluetooth GPS reciever and i want to connect it on COM port 9 but in the bluetooth settings it only allows me to use 6 or 7, does anyone know how to change this?
Thanks

Im using the HTC Vox if that makes a difference?
Thanks
When you say "Bluetooth settings" are you referring to the settings in the GPS software (TomTom, Garmin etc) or are you referring to the bluetooth settings in your phone settings?
When you first pair your device with the external bluetooth device, you need to set up and outgoing port (COM5 on a Himalaya, not sure what Vox would use) and also go to the advanced bluetooth settings and chose "serial connection". The com port should then appear in your GPS software bluetooth selection choices.
Let us know if this helps.
Ports :S
Thanks Jadel for the reply, i was referring to the bluetooth settings in the phone not gps software. i have paired it and and selected serial port and then it gives me a selection of ports to use: 6 or 7, but i already have things connecting to those ports and want to select another one to use? Any ideas?

the guide may not be using the latests wm version but still it should
give you a clear picture as to where on the PC you handle the activesync comports
rather then on the pda which dont use comports for activesync at all
When most of us know GPS are using our COM4 in raphael, i wonder what about USB, i have some application ask me select COM communication but i didn't know which COM my phone assign for USB use ?
devices without usbHost can't use usb as a comport
you can with bluetooth though
