Ok I've done a lot of reading...
I was able to upgrade my i-mate jam from 1.06 to 1.11 last night.
A few questions, I'm a bit confused between the differences of ROMS. There's shipped, extended and radio. From what I've seen it seems like there's three roms on the jam. The actual rom, a radio rom, and an extended rom?
I think the shipped roms, where I got my 1.11 rom, are the complete packages. And the extended roms are small customizations from the manufactuers, ie i-mate and qtek, for their small programs etc.
I wanted to actually install the qtek rom because I've read somewhere that they include a pdf and ppt reader in their rom. But I think I can't install that without the actual rom. So I have to let the rom upgrade, and then when it says it's going to restart in 3 seconds, soft reset it. Then when it comes back up, apply the extended rom?
Someone set me straight.
Thanks in advance,
UltimaSE
I'm a little confused on what your question is but here goes.
YOur on the right track, when you do a soft reset before the 3 sec warning it stops the device from installing the apps in the extended ROM. You then need to use your file explorer and you will see an "Extended_ROM" folder, click on this folder and you will now see all the apps in your extended ROM. To install the 2 items you mentioned you need to find the files called.
CV2.41.386_wwe.CAB (this is from my O2 Mini)
Don't forget there are other CAB files from the extended ROM that you will probably need.
Does this answer your question?
And if you want to save a bit of main memory, you can get a free program called CabInstaller that will let you select where you want to install the extended rom apps. Something like a pdf reader would work fine if you installed it to an SD card or your Storage folder.
jimmy-bish, I've already downloaded cabinstall, great great program. Don't know how I put up with cab's before it.
ampda, basically I'm confused on the question of the different roms.
the main rom for the actual functioning of the device
the radio rom for the "radio"
and the extend rom, for the customizations from the suppliers?
So again, if I wanted to apply an extend rom I would download it from the ftp here, place it on my storage card. And reflash it, when it tells me it's going to reset in 3 second, I soft reset it. Then apply the extend rom, from my storage card?
Sound about right?
Thanks again,
UltimaSE
Yup, that's correct.
Weird, I reinstalled the rom, and reset it before it restarted itself, and then applied the qtek rom by running the auto run. Everything seemed to be working fine, except, I still have truefax and others. Nothing seems to have changed.
I'd like to apply the qtek rom because I've heard that it has a ppt and a pdf viewer, anyone have any suggestions?

I don't think you need to install that ROM for those programs, If you want I can upload the CAB file I mentioned above and you should be able to install it
Hmm, is there anything functionally different between the qtek extend rom and the one that comes packaged with the 1.11 850 rom?
If you could upload it i would appreciate it. Please let me know where it will be...
Also, is there any difference between upgrading the rom in a 850 mhz, versus the 900 mhz jam? I have a 850, but I need to upgrade my gf's jam that is a 900, so I'm curious if there are any differences.
Thanks again,

Not sure what the differences are but heres the file.
Thanks, so for the most part it doesn't look like I can get rid of the fax program and other stuff bundled with the 1.12 american 850 rom?

The only way is a hard reset then do a reset before the 3 sec warning appears, or better still do a Big Storage mod that will get rid of all the apps

Im new, have read all the guides, and tried searching.
Having had the phone 12 hours, i need to upgrade the rom, to either unbrand it, or switch it over to O2.
I have the Tmobile MDA Compact but use O2 Online as my operator.
Ideally i want to unbrand the software, but if i must, i will settle for going to O2 firmware.
I have backed up my original rom (1.01.00 tmob) and have my header.
Which is the best rom for me?
I could just goto 1.13.00 Tmobile, but then im in the same position but with a newer revision, i want it unbranded
Going for TMO 1.13& unbranded you got 2 options:
- Get the 1.13BS rom from the ftp, transfer your header & flash. Gives you 27Mb storage as well
- Update with the 1.13 shipped-rom and do the soft-reset just before the customization sets in. 3 seconds after the initialisation finished. Remember to do this after every hard-reset.
Cheers, M
excellent oltp, i was wondering the same. also, do you get any more space by doing the softreset before the customisation kicks in?
WWE_T-Mobile_1.13.zip (17,75mb) i presume thats the one im after (in /BigStorage)
It wil prevent the ext-rom from kicking-in. And especially java, BlackBerry & intellidialler are ram consuming. i installed java & intellidialler in my BS. just starts slower after that there loaded in to ram & have normal speed. Move the fikes & change all associated reg.values & shortcuts.
So yes you do save ram the combination with BS is very nice.
Cheers, M
so if i install the BigStorage Tmobile 113 which extended rom files do i use? MDACompact_WWE_1.12.152.zip or can i use any?
perhaps the O2Mini_WWE_1.11.922.zip? as i want to have majority o2 settings?
A BS-rom is unbranded, so you can use any ext-rom fileset you like. In your case I would say O2 is appropriate, the newest camera & album are perhaps from TMO. So mix&match.
Cheers, M
hmm i just upgraded to BS113 and have got download fail & checksum fail
[e!] having read the pdf its normal 8)
Yes that's normal, as long as you get the splash & it Boots ecerything is fine. Black screens are usually a pants full.
You said everything seems fine so you succeeded & congratulations.
M
yep all good here, just checked Version numbers and its still got old Radio, protocol and ExtRom so i guess theyre my next upgrades?? (how?)
In Device info my ext-rom version has disappeared, don't know when, because it was still there right after the BS patch. Radio version should be 1.12, but you can update to 1.13 with the files provided in the thread 'upgrading to TMO 1.13 and radio ...' It is under magician upgrading etc. Do it now it will cause another hard-reset.
Succes, M
i played about a bit too much and cocked it up needed a reflash, so i decided to try the Tmob 1.13 with 1.12 radio, that went on fine and completed. i aborted the tmobile customisation stuff, but maybe i was too late as i couldnt access Extended Rom, so i decided to put the 113 big store back on. and now i still have 1.12 radio
so now im running on the same spec as your good self.
many thanks OLTP
you're welcome
Note: This is a custom firmware but it is DEFINITELY the best and should have been a company of its own! Damned it isn't. It even lets your mono bluetooth headset listen to music!!!!!
ROM OF THE YEAR!!!
Since HTC issued new IPL/SPL version 2.xx.0001, all tools that we use to cook the customize rom to be a single nk.nbf file can not be used because nk.nbf structure are different from the previous version. We were trying to hard to solve the problem. Futunately, we found the new method that save and convenince, because it will not touch with bootloader. Just active sync prophet with pc then run UPGRADE_ROM.bat.
This method can be used with any version of IPL/SPL of SPV M600, Qtek S200, i-mate JAMin, Dopod 818 Pro, XDA neo. Need not to unlock CID.
DAMobiz Customized Rom can be download from here:
http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/...n_Upgrade_Rom_for_IPLSPL_2.15.0001_v.1.02.rar
Step by step to upgrade rom
1. Backup all data in Prophet, then hard reset it. You can also use the method of Clear Storage in menu, Start -- Settings -- Clear Storage.
2. After Hard Reset, tap at the screen 1 time, and stop at Align Screen.
3. Plug usb cable at Prophet to start ActiveSync, then click at Cancel.
4. Prophet will connect with PC as Guest.
5. Go back to folder that you unrar (www.rarlab.com) then click at UPGRADE_ROM.bat.
Wait....
Wait.... It's now finished with extended rom, then the next is OS rom.
6. After finish, you may hard reset by press and hold at Camera and Voice Dial, then depress at reset. Still hold camera and voice dail until you get the screen as below:
Press at send to format, then it reboots.
At the buttom left, it shows "PDAMobiz.com" that is pdamobiz customized rom. To get all program of pdamobiz customized rom, you have to let extended rom program install until it complete.
PDAMobiz customized rom has only 3 Thailand operators, you may add your own file before upgrade rom to "extrom" PC folder and autoconfig.txt to have your own country autoconfig.
Plenty of wonderful software, you may see the whole pictcure at: (sorry there is no translation)
http://www.pdamobiz.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=60019
If during upgrading you have some problem, and it stuck at bootloader 3 colors screen. Just download below files, run upgrade rom with that file, after you can boot normally, you can upgrade this customized rom again, becuase this customize rom need active sync only.
http://files.pdamobiz.com/ROMs/XDA/Prophet/RUU_Prophet_2151327_21513121_021921_DOP_ASIA_WWE_Ship.exe
Thank you very much to itsme, the Administrator of http://www.spv-developers.com for his utilities, machinegod for enablerapi, buzz, the Admin of www.buzzdev.net for unlocker of prophet extended rom, RuChonburi for his customized rom.
By the way I make 3 very small utilities, those are sleep4 (wait 4 second), clattr.exe (clear file attribute of \extended_rom) and roattrib.exe (set read only attribute for files in extended rom), to automize the process to 1 click at UPGRADE_ROM.bat
Caution! There are some risks to upgrade rom, please use your own risk, we shall not responsible for any damage.
(TAKEN FROM A SITE CALLLED en.pdamobiz.com who created this ROM! They rock..forget about Imate roms and anything else! )

1. Anybody tried that on JAMin?
2. Any succes stories on DOWNGRADING back to JAMin Rom after this?
3. Is it FASTER(the overall working process) than latest I-mate's one?
4. Russian dialpad working with this one?
Not before i receive answers to that shall i try this out as if it's no satisfying on 3rd question there's no need in it for me, as i know how to install cabz myself, even though it may not be in 1 click, but since we're out of battery dead-data lost problem it's not a thing to worry anymore, and i cant say if i really need all that bunched into my tiny device.
1. Anybody tried that on JAMin? - YES!! ME!!!
2. Any succes stories on DOWNGRADING back to JAMin Rom after this? - You can never downgrade with Prophet after you hit the version 2.x systme without using 3rd party software roms.
3. Is it FASTER(the overall working process) than latest I-mate's one? - It autostarts with Omap clock at 240 speed and overall its about 3x faster than Imates latest 2.13 rom.
4. Russian dialpad working with this one?
- Yes
5. Note this - Battery Lasts longer (dont know how they did it. but it gave me 7 hours talk time compared to ImateJamins usual 4-5 NON STOP. weird...
More Notes - It has lots of nice software inside and basically makes you feel like its a fully loaded system and yet faster than ALL (Not just the last) Imate JamIn one. If you need my creditibility go to Imate jamin offiucial support forum (clubimate) and see my id shivam / shivamxp. Posted alot there before I dumped the Jamin Rom for this baby!
Not before i receive answers to that shall i try this out as if it's no satisfying on 3rd question there's no need in it for me, as i know how to install cabz myself, even though it may not be in 1 click, but since we're out of battery
ps - forgot to same . the exntended rom is also unlocked by default, a nice set of media players that play almost everything in video n music - mp4, divx ,etc. It has a great file manager. Bluetooth headset can grab any programs music or video whether it be media player or real media or some other program. basically all sound from ur device can get forwarded to ur MONO bluetooth (now even regular bts without stereo can get great sound n music).
Man, i DONT want device to start with omapclock and god, feels like u r so Xcited 'bout this that seems like YOU made this Rom. If there's no rollback, i pass it out.
http://en.pdamobiz.com/en/forum/PDAforum_posts.asp?TID=440&PN=1
are the guys who made it ...PDAMOBIZ...but i used it and was shocked to see it just so d*** good.
Ive used Prophet and seen it suck up as bad as an O2mini (no offence HTC Mag guys)...i used to have a o2mini ..moved to this and definitely both are sucky (speed n feature) just the compactness. Seeing this new rom, everything that made my views so negative are gone EXCEPT i still want a bigger screen the real vga..
anyways, dont install it if you dont wanna...just dont blame me if two weeks later theres a big hype and you say i didnt listen cuz i was too over occupied or wanted to wait...you can wait all you want...you sure wont lose anything..youll just be delaying your gain.
Look im comparing this rom against the current Roms of "Imate" and IMHO this rocks..sure wait as much as you want, but then again a guy who made similar posts earlier (check my post logs) about Imate Software and support on the forums there sucking...well your choice.
heyy shivam, looks promising, but can u possibly upload the rom somewhere? the link u supplied is ridiculously slow (1.3kb/s)
thx
lookin forward to trying this out as im not too impressed with my spv m600 after coming from the great jam
for the person who use XDA Neo, don't use this rom now as before using this rom, it is neccessary to unkock CID first, but the programmer of this rom said that he still haven't known how to unlock CID for device that has IPL 2.15.0001 and SPL 2.15.0001.Fortunately, he said that in a couple days, he will have a solution for this problem (to help you unlock CID) and then you will be able to use this rom on xda neo.
I have not much knowledge about this pda phone. However, I am Thai so that why I can understand all the topic in the original link of this rom. So I just want to translate this point to you guy to prevent you from wasting your time and any harm that might happen to your device.
Anyway, this rom is very good rom, have evreything you want, help your mobile much faster than before, and will help you a lot, so wait until programmer has solution for CID then upload it.
Has anyone with a Qtek S200 tried this?
I want to take the plunge and I have done lots and lots of ROM mods and upgrades to my former Himalaya and a friend's Blue Angel, but I would love to know if there is some way to backup my original ROM beforehand.
Thanks for the find tho!
P.S.- Can someone please upload this ROM to the XDADevs FTP????? the TX is really slooooooooow..... .4 kbps!!!
God bless!
Rayan
Ist it possible not to install some of the included programs ? (like vxutil, Regeditor, CallFilter, image maker, calculator, opera and Realplayer of course ...)
Like deleting them from the extrom before upgrading?
Reason is, that i already use some nice programs that i got used to, and i dont want to waste some extra memory on programs i will most likely not need.
Edit: any way to change the omap clock Startup MHz ?
Greetings
In order to avoid installing any unneeded software on the ExtROM, just Soft Reset just before they install after a Hard Reset.
Then you should go to the extended rom and manually install whatever apps you want by clicking on them.
Do you already downloaded this rom?
Can you please Upload it to the xda developers ftp?
That would be great...
Thanks!
Rayan
@Rayan - i know how to avoid installing the extrom - i was wondering if some of the programs are included in the normal rom.
Didn't download it yet - i will wait for some more experiences

Thanks for the upload matey.
Howdy Boys and Girls
Well I took the leap and installed the Rom described here, on a new Imate Jamin I bought last week down here in Australia.
The existing Rom on the Jamin was the latest from the Imate website.
"JAMin_WWE_213923_2139123_022021_ship"
First of all let me say that after upgrading to the Pdamobiz version, I was able to restore the Rom back to the original Imate version.
That should answer the questions of a few wondering if it's not all it's made out to be you can always go back to what you had.
Onto the new Rom.
The Jamin I have according to Omapclock runs at 180Mhz. With this Rom it was running at 240Mhz and I can tell you now this Rom is SLOW, very SLOW. With the original Imate Rom installed clocked to 240Mhz it screams along very nicely.
Some of the Apps installed with this Rom are also commercial versions requiring purchasing or "other ways around purchasing".
In fact come to think of it most of the apps were pretty ****ty and neither here nor there. Just my opinion expressed here.
Ultimately it's up to the individual preferences here and I'm certainly not taking anything away from the people who spent the time putting it together. It's a good effort.
In the end I installed it ... had a play with it for an hour or so ... dumped the Rom onto an SD card and restored the orginal Rom.
When I get around to it I'll install a few of the goodies like the A2DP stereo audio and the Extended Rom patch. They work
Thanks to original poster for making this Rom available in the first place and the guys who put it together.
Now it's up to you
Regards to all
Thanks for the info, Nudester. I was about to install this one on my XDA Neo (running JAMin on it now), but stopped after I read your post. Also, I do not like the application programs in that ROM, too, since I have purchased much better programs already. Your info is very helpful. thanks.

Thanks lvlx!
I'll DL tonite!
Peace!
ok, i installed this (thx lvlx for the upload, that link was just agrhhhhhhh ), and for the most part, i agree with nudester. speed is ok, althought i was getting better/more stable operation with the latest dopod rom on which it is based when overclocked with omap clock. a lot of the utilities are on the rom, and not the extended rom which means u cant remove them, and to be honest, most are overkill, like the are about 4 different sim utilities, nevertheless, some are pretty damn good. however i just dont like havin stuff that i dont need/use.
PROS:
decent rom (stable and quick)
loads of cool utilities
downgradeable
good with storage memory
pre-configured with most of the registry edits for speed, gps, etc....
CONS:
some utilities/programs are trials/unregestered
most utilities/programs are built into the rom
overkill, i mean why do u need all that stuff anyways?
---did i keep it? -----> NO
id rather have a clean oem rom that id play with myself and install what i want.
fair play to the guys at pdamobiz.com for creating it, coz it is good, and it gave me a lot of ideas, but it just wasnt my cup of tea 8)
Hello Every One,
I installed the ROM and agree with Nudester. Please Nudester tell me how to go back and load my original imate JAMIN ROM.
Ok, I have been reading a lot about bad battery life using BatteryStatus, and wanted to let people know some observations I've made which might be helpful.
1) BatteryStatus is a nice program, but it's erratic. It has to be watched. Especially after a reset, or after recharging, you need to be careful that it's actually doing what you want it to. For example, if you use cpuscalar, it will turn off when you set the cpu speed and vice versa, especially if you access the settings from the Today screen. I recommend using the 1.x versions as you can monitor cpu utilization, and can see if the cpu speed is going up or down based on your settings.
2) On that subject, use cpu utilization and not battery load as your primary indicator. If you're getting above 10% cpu load "at rest", something is probably not right with your setup. Which leads me to ...
3) I have discovered that if one wipes the extended rom, you will have high cpu utilization rates (I got 20% at idle with the x-plore rom, vs 1-4% clean, with an extended rom) Apparently there is some process which checks for the Autostart.exe file in extended rom, and keeps checking if it does not find it. This can't be good for battery life.
Hope this helps someone,

True! Also found that this was causing the high CPU load. Maybe people experiencing fast battery drop are having this problem.
DUDE! my problems lead me to SAME conclusion! i mean ext rom wiping leads to 29-32% cpu utilisation and up to 340 mA DRAIN!
im glad that someone told same thing!
your observation seems to be true.and very useful.
yes, omg, yes, it will be nice day!

If you flash an official rom before a custom rom, you know you will have an extended rom left over from the official. When I was on NotTooSmart's rom, I checked out the extended rom area and saw all the T-Mo extended stuff was still there from when I flashed the TMo 2.26 Official.
The point is, don't go and delete everything in extended rom as that will cause issues.

Why?? After I had installed Xplore 1.0 and just had teh extended_rom from faria - I just flashed an own cooked extended_rom and I still had it after flashing Xplore 1.1. No problems. Now I have deleted everything in my extended_rom and it is empty. I even could unlock it and use it right from fileexplorer. But it doesn´t make sence when using total commander.

Read point #3 in the OP. Maybe the problem only comes after a hard reset, but you can have issues by removing the extended rom. If you replace it with your own cooked one, then you are fine (if its setup correctly to work like a regular one).
I have no direct experience with this, just have seen this in other posts and now this one.

You know, i think we "could" mess with EXTrom...but totalcommander method seems to make thing f up... i always get messy names, sizes, if i am trying to copy sometihng there....
is it locked or what...IDEAL thing, anichillus, would be making CLEAN ROM, as clean ,as it can be, then cook SOME extroms to make people happy AT LAST ....
rethink it, its method for makin everyone happy...(or not..?).
Strange, i have 42 mA idle, but battery still drops...maybe i just must discharge to max, then recharge... not sure 'bout it...
Xplore is just awesome, waiting for 2.0, but for gods sake, make it clean...
btw, with wizard's love ROM flashing method i have THAT extROM, when i flash xplore, so its rather useless(what is in that extrom inside), but that 35% CPU usage is gone... plz give some links to FLASHABLE ext ROMS here plz...

I used this an extended_rom including this apps. I can post if wanted.
thanks, m8, i just used wizards love ext rom, and aborted autorun.exe after flashing x-plore..safe...at last.
I'm glad this has helped some people
I think what many of you are describing is the best way: Downgrade to a rom that includes an extended rom, then upgrade to x-plore, and abort the extended rom installation by soft reset at the "installing customizations" screen.
If you are sophisticated enough to be able to design and flash your own extended rom as per Faria's sticky in the upgrading section, that should work too. Then you could let the customizations run.
Resist the temptation to delete the extended rom with total commander because you're not using it. (Unless you just want to prove it to yourself, and don't mind reflashing and reinstalling!)
i am reconsidering making ext rom on my own.. but geez.. i must stop FLASHING for some time lol
any thing made by tottal commander on ext rom lead to battery problems - 30-35% cpu usage ALL the time etc...

Sure, I do it all the time. In fact I recommend it unless you WANT the customizations and programs loaded in there to run. It saves memory and avoids conflicts between rom upgrades/changes. Some rom cookers do put things in there which they would like people to try and those should be considered as part of their package. Others take a viewpoint of putting everything they feel is important into the "Rom" itself. (i.e. x-plore) However, it is always "safe" to abort the extended rom loading, you just may have to do some customizations yourself. (Carrier settings, dial skins, stuff like that) Try it both ways and see what you prefer.
I too experienced just now some problems when messing with the extended rom.
Why the f** this thing happens ?
The only thing I did was to unlock the extended rom from the rgu's so it would be directly accessible without any other program, simple, with file explorer
First time it started, it was ok, I could browse the Extended Rom, no problems. I did a soft reset, and after that the Extended Rom changet it's name to Extended Rom2 and nothing was to be seen in it. After another soft reset, I could see files, but it was giberish ... and boom, the cpu stable at 20% ...
I need to fix this. My rom doesn't has the extended rom in the windows dir so G4 can use it and also seems easy for me to place cabs
The battery drain/Cpu usage issue anyway, i solved it. The first time I did this
I flashed the TMob 2.26 and after that I flashed again my rom(meantime I removed the settings unlock for ext rom). Now it's working great again.
Any thoughts ?

Sorry for the double post,
Man, not every customisation should be aborted...not wise at all
You can skip those who you know for sure that do not affect the stability of your rom...those that don['t mess with registry and fixes.
I for example have put some fixes in the "ext rom" (the one in windows) with some important fixes.
No problem with the double reply. My experience is that the extended rom unlocker are not true unlockers, in that the extended rom cannot be written to reliably except by flashing. But you can delete files from them, or more likely corrupt files in them by trying. If you do attempt to write to the extended rom "on the fly", it will look like it has worked until you do a soft reset. Probably the files go into a temporary storage memory although I haven't researched it deeply. I think your extended_rom2 problem has to do with the "real" extended rom being corrupted, and inaccessable. If I remember, the device then creates another on the sd card or something like that. (There is a thread in the upgrade section about the extended rom unlocker where this stuff is discussed).
As far as skipping the customizations, I agree that if the cooker has placed settings, etc in there they should be run. However, many cooks leave the extended rom alone, which can cause confusion when say a T-Mobile rom is initially there, and the T-Mobile customizations get run on top of the custom rom, (or Cingular, or whatever) unless that is what the owner wants. It might be helpful if the chef is explicit about it during the initial posting of the download link.
Has anyone tried the new build yet? I just noticed it about a week ago.
I was using...
Ver. 1.04.201 beta3 build 0178
The new one is...
Ver. 1.04.201 beta3 build 0182
It has increased the battery life for me and is more accurate at updating the battery strength as well.
Thanx.
Hello,
I've updated my I-mate PPC to WM5, trying various different ROMS.
Everytime I reflash, all of my contacts, appointments, notes etc stay on the phone. Also the software I installed before flashing stays in the system. Is this normal? How do I get it to completely wipe everything and put on an entirely new system so it's like a brand new phone?
Also, the storage size stays at 14.57MB, which isn't enough. Why isn't it making it bigger to say 32MB or whatever the Rom is supposed to set it at??
Sorry if this is all just because I haven't read the instructions properly but I can't seem to find the solution to these problems.
Cheers,
Tim
you format diskinchip from the bootloader
any chance of getting some more info? doing a search for diskinchip gives me nothing... really all I want is more storage memory than 14.57 MB...
Cheers
HELMI SP2

i-mate PPC to WM5
Hello Tim,
please note that the upgrade from PPC to WM5 is not possible in some cases it can run and get installed but in most cases it might damage the device main board and in this case the device will no longer works and also note that the windows mobile 2005 is not easy to work on the 2003 operating system like what the PPC got. and also about the storage size on the PPC its not enought because of the programs that get installed with the operating system of the PPC and take from the size of the actual memory on the device i hope you take the advice in conisderation about upgrading to wm2005.
Brad
thanks guys I've installed the Helmi rom and am very happy with it...
one thing that I wish it had, that other WM5 ROMs have, is a memory icon on the bottom taskbar. Is it as simple as a registry edit?
Also, holding the on button down doesn't turn the backlight off anymore - is there a fix for this??
I read the Wiki page for Q Mobile 1.2. I never flashed any ROM in my Tilt yet. I removed all the AT&T specific boltwares (Hard reset and after WM6 install, soft reset before AT&T Cingular boltware are starting to install). This gives me around 110MB free space.
I use Kaiser Tweak to stop the scroll sound and increase the touchflo sensitivity and other features. The usability is good and fast enough until i install anything on it.
I have a basic question. I see different versions of ROM, Radios floating around. I am guessing all the ROM's are the same windows mobile 6 with certain features removed / added. I assume every ROM maker aims for more free space and Ofcource some windows tweaks (compramise the feature - some people think certain features are crap).
Right now i have 110 MB free space in my Tilt. (Nothing loaded except WM6). Your ROM has 145MB free space. If I install your ROM and install 35MB of applications (say 15 applications) can i assume that the device will perform with the same speed like my current Tilt with 110 MB free space?
I am just trying to understand. Also, are you rewritting and compling certain codes of WM6 itself for performace. I am not even sure if SDK is available for WM6.
Thanks.

In no way will it perform the same as your Tilt currently does--it should be far better. The reasons for this are many--beginning with the fact that it has a much newer operating system core. Then there are MANY cache, registry, file, etc tweaks that go into my ROM.
In any case, there are clear instructions for going back to your ROM so what you should probably do is install HardSPL and try some custom ROMs and see what a difference there actually is. Cheers,
Thank you very much for your instance response. It gives more confidence. My first ROM flashing start with your Q-Mobile 1.2 ROM. I will read Wiki page for other instructions. couple more yes/no questions.
1) I see clear storage CAB in your WIki page. That will do the same job like it does in current tilt - reverting back to your factory setting?
2) The newer Radio is something released by AT&T itself for public?
3) "Compatible with 1.27.14.x Radios and includes the 1.27.14.09 radio". I assume this ROM comes with a reliable Radio.
4) Can i install any WM6 applications or are there any issues reported on any applications. (I saw the newer camera version has issues)
Thanks.

Yeah its the same as pressing the two soft keys and resetting the device...I don't include it by default because its redundant for that very reason. But people have requested it so I provide it as a CAB you can install.

Yeah, it comes with the 1.60 and 1.61 ROMs from AT&T.

Right, just remember that if you go to a non-Tilt rom someday to download one of the 1.27.12.x radios from the link in the Wiki. It is common for "Tilt" branded ROMs to include the 1.27.14.09 radio because currently its the only one in its class. But there are MANY versions of the 1.27.12.x series radios so ROMs compatible with those traditionally don't include a radio--you can use whichever suits you.

You can install pretty much anything you want. It is encouraged. You may find things that don't quite work, but thats why this forum isn't called "Kaiser Everything Works Upgrade At Will" Most apps do though.
Thank You So Much. You Are So Kind And Great!!
