Clarification of ROM Upgrading

Hi,
I am expecting my German XDA in the mail in the next few days.
I have been reading this forum for the past 2 weeks, and have tried to wade through all the great advice to educate myself on ROM upgrading issues. I would like to clarify that I understand this properly.
As I understand, in order to render my new XDA "O2-free" and customizable, not to mention english, I need to install a new ROM - probably the latest Imate ROM or maybe the PDAMobiz ROM.
Before I do this, should I Unlock the CID? From my reding, this will allow me to the install any ROM.
Is this an accurate understanding of everything involved?
Are there other better options to achieve my goal of a non-branded non-operator specific Jamin/Neo?
Is there a way to save my original German O2 ROM if it became necessary to return the unit for service?
I hope people do not object to thsi post. I know that it can be irritating when newbies post on topics which have already been discussed thoroughly. I have spent at least 2 weeks trying to educate myself on the procedures, and really would just like if some knowledgeable contributor could reassure me that I have not missed something obviuos.
Thanks,
Ronan

Hi,
I tried to follow the steps as outlined, but when I get to teh first soft reset, the device locks, and I can do nothing with it!
Please tell me how to fix it. Can I use bootloader?
How?
Thanks,
Ronan
Crisis averted!
Got into bootloader and installed the dopod rom.

Dear Ro,
have you upgrated your PDA?
Can you write your procedure?
Best regards
Daniele
please, read this topic and tell me what you think about it...

I entered bootloader then used the Dopod ROM with the modified romupdateutility.
I have not tried anything else.
Does anyone know of a solution for us SPL 2.15.0001 users? We seem to be very restricted in options.
Ro
Please, can you write the links where it is possible to download this rom and all the necessary files?

Thanks dears,
I have updated it with Dopod rom......but now....how can I update to I-mate JAMin (italian) rom?
Does someone have an Idea to how do it?
Thanks, thanks, thanks
Daniele
Yes, you have to go to ftp.clubimate.com there you can find the JAMin ROM's and also you can choose the language you want.
As you know, first, you must CID unlock, then you can download your favorite ROM. Tell us your opinon after install it.

Hard SPL frozen with white Screen

Hello everyone together,
I have a HTC (T-Mobile CZ) with the CZ language. I work in CZ and in Germany and need an English or German ROM. I am a beginner to patch the equipment and have read the most important instructions in the forum.
My problem is, that the PDA always says "goodbye" with the white Screen (HardSPL). Hard SPL does not work. My Rom Version is 1.56.0000. I have the Hard SPL with and without SIM Card and Micro Card tested, every time the same effect "WHITE SCREEN (the device is in delivery state). The device works after this reboot in the CZ language normaly. Who can help me which details need you still more?
I have got the following links yesterday, however no success. Is there a Work a round to avoid HardSPL? Is it possibility to patch a the original ROM T-Mobile Germany (without HardSPL) to the device first and afer this to patch the device with the special cook Rom?
Many thanks for your help, I am dispaired, enclosed the links to yesterday

Hardspl V7
I found HARDSPL v7 Version. It is possible to update the original T-Mobile Device or damaged the Device? Is this the solution to fix the Problem with HardSPL v1 and white screen? Does the "COOK Rom" work with v7?

I think another new thread would help Seriously the v7 is for Hermes not for Kaiser. I have PM Olipro and Pof so maybe they will look for a solution. But again maybe a third or fourth new thread by you will expedite the fix.
Hey wpbear,
thx for your information. I read the thread ptukar

Thank you for your help.

How revert back to orange rom for warranty issues.

Hi I have a HTC TYTN II from orange and something has packed in with the display, it is very faint with virtually no color. As I havent dropped it anywhere i guess I should return it to orange for a replacement. I remember reading somthing on the forum about invalidaing the warranty if you change the rom. I have Sleuth 1.1, operating system only rom, installed I was wondering if any of the senior members could help in reflashing the original orange rom as I do not want to be left with a dud phone from orange. I have searched the forum for anything to do with the original orange rom but cannot find any answers. Thanks for any help you can provide.
Check this thread. There's a french Orange ROM. If it's not the one you need, you should post in this thread to ask someone to dump his ROM for you.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=337066
after you get your ROM restored to the Orange one you will probably also want to "remove" HardSPL. My best guess is that the HTC SPL is the closest you'll get to the Orange one. It probably won't be exactly correct but it will at least LOOK that way when you go into the Bootloader screen.

Hi thanks for the info. I need the english orange rom. I was silly to not create a backup before I flashed my sleuth 1.1 rom. Anyone out there who can help it wuld be greatly appreciated. If it is quite a bit of work I am willingly to pay for the inconvenience as I really need to return my phone for warranty issues.

[Q] Need help please with choosing new rom SPV M5000

Hi Guys
I was wondering if someone could please help me,
i have a SPV m5000 and after installing wrong rom and bricking the phone I then bought a second hand one with damaged screen and told was working ok just damed screen which was unlocked on O2 and I swoped the motherboards over so I now have an O2 motherboard in a orange M5000 phone.
It's working a ok except it shuts down when the battery seems to be half empty and it happens with both my batterys, so I am hopeing it's a bug in the OS and not the phone it's self, so I guess one way to find out is change the rom, I am looking for the most newest and stable rom with instructions on how to install as I am not that up on flashing roms on phones which is clearly obvious .
my phones about page lists my phone as follows,
Windows mobile 6.1 professional
CE OS 5.2.21028 (Build 21028.1.6.0 TML)
processor PXA270-520MHz
memory 48.37 mb
I am using this on Orange network but the phones boot screen says O2 when booting, and could someone tell me if the rom for O2 XDA is the same rom as rom for Orange XDA?
If any one would be so kind as to point out the exact rom link I need I would be eternally grateful.
Many many thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
kind regards
Daz
