Just purchased an Alpine and cannot read the SD backup of my Himalaya!
Prob1: No PC backup, only a SD backup's available (xBackup)
Prob2: My Himalaya got the screen damaged, creating a hard reset but the device is working fine, just no screen, no touch screen
How to transfer this backup (compactflashbackup) to the Alpine?? Problem specific to HTC devices :?:
MANY THANKS
Olivier
i dont think it will et you
even upgrading the himalaya from one rom to another
can make a restore impossible
Thanks. A down to earth solution is to replace the screen but $$$
Thought about emulating my Himalaya from my PC to control the restore I cannot access through the screen...

Hi All,
My Orbit 2 has a faulty screen and O2 have agreed to replace my phone. The only issue I have with that is that I will have to somehow backup my data so that I can transfer it to my new phone. Whats the best software to use? Can I somehow take an image of the whole phone?
Thanks
Andy
Backing up Orbit 2
What is that you need to backup?
If you perform an active sync then all your contacts and playlists should be backed up. You only need to plug your device into your pc's usb port for the sync to be completed.
If you use your storage card for storing all your other data then you shouldn't have a problem.
If the data is elsewhere on the phone then use 'explore this device' from your pc's desktop sync window to transfer that data to your computer before returning the phone to O2.
Well, if only screen is faulty and device works, you might try MyMobileR http://www.mymobiler.com/ for remote control., and PPC PIM Backup http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1806 for backup.
However, I am using both programs, but in "normal" conditions, where device is functioning normally.
If yours is anything like mine which also came from O2, they supplied Sprite Back up with it on CD, that'll do a full back up for you.
But if the screen is toast you may still need some remote software to help view the Orbit.
Well I have managed to break my touch screen on my 02 XDA Orbit , not a big problem as I have a spare XDA Orbit.
The problem is I need to access to the broken one, the phone powers up into the unlock screen, but I cannot get any further due to the touch screen being dead .
I have loaded mymobiler onto my PC to try to control it through that. The program requires an acknowledgment on the phone so that the application is installed, cannot acknowledge this because of the broken touch screen.
I would like to know if there is anyway of unlocking the touch screen, so that I can control the phone using keys or through mymobiler.
Any help is appreciated, I have used the search engine and google, but cannot find if it is possible.
For what purpose do you want to access the phone?
If you got a spare LCD-Display, just replace the old one and you can acces the device.
Or does your data get lost if you take out the battery?
Another solution for exporting contacts and other data is Jeyo Mobile Companion. So you can save your data and repair the device afterwards.

Thanks for the reply. I have several applications on the phone that I need info from, so that I can register them on the new phone.
I do not want to remove the screen from the working phone just to get at the stuff I need. I might end up with two broken phones
There must be a simple way of deactivating the screen lock feature
Right.
I have two phones, a HTC Hermes and a HTC Touch Pro.
The HTC Touch Pro works fine, and was brought to replace the Hermes. The Hermes had a broken screen, which I replaced, and now has a white screen.
Now the problem is, there was a storage card in the Hermes, which was encrypted. This is still encrypted, and as such I need to copy the files off it when it is in the Hermes. But what I am 95% sure is the password for the Hermes is not unlocking it at the point where I am pretty certain it is asking for the password on the device (the box saying the device is locked has popped up).
I can not currently move any files off the device or storage card when it is in the Hermes. Solutions I have thought of:
1) Copy the hashed password from the Touch profile, if I set that password to what it was on the Hermes. (Won't work if there is a seed, and don't know how to use the config files for WMDC.)
2) Somehow get around the password protection to copy the files off the device or remove the password. (Haven't been able to so far)
3) Send the password from the computer instead of entering on the computer, as I think it must be an input error I can't see due to the broken screen. (Don't know how).
So, any advice people?
Robert
Assuming you have working Active Sync try this My Mobiler. It will let you see your Hermes screen on your PC, and all inputs can be made with your desktop keyboard.
Hi XDA experts.
I have found myself in a bit of a quandry.
My HTC Ignito touchscreen failed while I was on holiday. ( no entry possible at all =-(
I just go back, and have been trying to backup the phone.
I have read all the threads I can find on the subject, and tried to install EveryWAN and Mymobilier software. The problem I have is that the device is stuck in HDD mode, as I set it to go to that mode automatically ( with hindsight a stupid move......)
Therefore EveryWan and MyMobiler will not connect to the phone.
I want to backup my contacts and download the holiday pictures.
I have seen some mention of adding a file to folder 2577 on the HDD to autorun, is it possible to use this trick to set the device to activesync ?
I am a programmer by trade, so dont be afraid to suggest something complicated and off the wall, I will try anything to get my contacts back !
I have ordered a new HTC Desire to replace it, maybe there is a way to swap data across directly ?
I have been on to HTC Support, and they are out of ideas, they say there is no way to change the activesync mode remotely =-(
Looks like i am screwed =-(
Hi folks
I have a HTC Touch Pro, with a dead screen. It simply won't turn on at all, but I can still hear it boot up and answer phonecalls though. There's no led indicator on the keyboard anymore either and neither does it show the charging light. Basicly all lights are off. Even tried hardresetting, but still absolutely nothing is visible
What I'd like to know if it's possible to make a full backup of the phone to the sd card, as I have another working Touch Pro, that I could restore this backup to then. I've tried connecting the phone to the PC via Activesync, but Windows doesn't recognise the "USB device" and hence Activesync won't sync. I was originaly thinking of using MyMobiler to view what was going on on the phone and take a backup from there, but I'm running out of options now
I really hope someone out there could have a solution so I might recover some of the photo's that are still lying on the device.
