[Q] Dead screen: Any way to do a full backup to sdcard? - General Questions and Answers

Hi folks
I have a HTC Touch Pro, with a dead screen. It simply won't turn on at all, but I can still hear it boot up and answer phonecalls though. There's no led indicator on the keyboard anymore either and neither does it show the charging light. Basicly all lights are off. Even tried hardresetting, but still absolutely nothing is visible
What I'd like to know if it's possible to make a full backup of the phone to the sd card, as I have another working Touch Pro, that I could restore this backup to then. I've tried connecting the phone to the PC via Activesync, but Windows doesn't recognise the "USB device" and hence Activesync won't sync. I was originaly thinking of using MyMobiler to view what was going on on the phone and take a backup from there, but I'm running out of options now
I really hope someone out there could have a solution so I might recover some of the photo's that are still lying on the device.
Thanks for your interest

Please Help me

Hi Guys,
I'm Using an HTC HD?
My touch screen and LCD screen NOt working! Phone Switches ON and comes to standby mode. (i hear all the booting dings and dong melodies)
I neeed to take a backup of my device. to do so i thought i'll use my mobiler and see the phone screen through the PC! unfortunately the last time i used i used the phone as the 'storage device' option. so every time i connec the phone to the pc windows open up my phone's storage card.
Is there a possibility i can change this back to active sync without using the phone's screen.
Or are there any other suggestions for me to take a full backup??
Hey there,
The solution to your problem is pretty simple. Goto settings/all settings/connections/usb to pc and check active sync ( i always select ask me every time as i use all diferent options).
You will then be able to active sync no problems.
Word of caution though, if you back up everything including registry, you may re-introduce the problem when you restore your backup (as an app maybe causing this conflict), so you may be best to do a selected backup or just backup you contacts and emails using PIM backup.
Good luck.

[Q] Broken display, access memory. Quite a conundrum.

Hi, fairly new here. I tried to search but came up with nothing. So the screen on my galaxy S vibrant was broken yesterday in a freak. As a result, the display and touch controls don't work. The phone still works, it will receive calls and texts/email, I just have no way to answer or check them. Is there any way to retrieve my info and create a backup from the phone? I was going to upgrade to the 4g version and wanted to transfer my info to it.
Android 2.2
Not rooted
Not in debugging mode
Bluetooth is off
I think wifi is off, too (don't see it in my router settings)
I can connect it to the computer via usb, but I can't mount it w/o the screen.
Is there any app I can install via the market that might help?
Is there a way to just make a backup image of the internal memory?
Thanks for the help.

Screen not working - backup txts?

Hey,
Looks as though the screen on my sensation has stopped working. I've just tried the suggestions in the sticky but no luck. Any one have an idea how I can backup the data on the phone. I've basically got 7 unread texts on the phone that I need to try and access.
I've got SMS backup/restore on the phone but its only set to once a week backup. Do texts automatically get backed up anywhere else at all? Preferably on the SD card? If I plug the phone in then it asks me to select what to do with the USB type which I can't do as the screen is still locked.
Any ideas please?
Cheers,
Andy
I had the same problem. If you`ve got ADB enabled on your phone, you can use Android Screencast http://code.google.com/p/androidscreencast/ and try to read and backup them.

[Q] Dead screen + not recognized by pc

Hi XDA!
I dropped my Nexus 5 from a height < 3 feets, it got a little scratch on the corner, however the screen has stopped functionning. I tried restarting the device but it still keep displaying black and white vertical lines. The good news is that Google will swap my device free of charge, the bad news is, I am unable to backup the data from my Nexus. Unfortunately, I have no backup of my photos and videos from wedding and vacation
Things I know/have tried:
Debugging mode is on, my Nexus was detected by my computer with no problem prior to the ''accident/drop''
I am no longer able to browse the internal storage, when I plug my Nexus 5 in my computer's usb port, it detects a media device(Nexus 5), but when I double click on it, it doesn't display internal storage.
ADB device -l, does not list anything
Any other ways to back up my data?
Thank you,
@cuem small question here, do you turn on your G+ Photos auto backup?

I did not , I wasn't even aware of that option. I also turned off dropbox auto-sync because it annoyed me to have my pictures synced between my computer and 2 laptops. Now... I regret it

I'm not sure but maybe these links can give you some enlightenment regarding adb and usb driver:

Good luck!
I re-installed ADB using your link, but I don't think that's the issue. I read somewhere that the screen need to be unlocked for the computer to be able to browse the files from the internal memory. There are some weird behavior with my broken Nexus, I can't receive any calls, but the alarm rang off this morning and my LED flashed, it means I received a kind of notice or something.
I also read somewhere that it was possible to flash your device and in the process remove the unlock code lock, however if I do that, wouldn't I void my Nexus 5 warranty?
Thank you,
PS*. I don't know how I could flash, computer does not detect my Nexus and I can't have access to my screen since it displays black/white stripes + it is not being responsive to touch input( seems dead)

Help please! Nexus 6 smashed screen. Still turns on. Data recovery.

I dropped my Nexus 6 and the screen smashed turning black with a few tough pixels remaining but essentially useless.
I need to recover the data off two particular apps and ideally want to access them. They have export functions within the app.
I'm not tech savvy and have read several threads but the main issues are:
1) Screen unusable, can't really make anything out.
2) USB debugging is not turned on
Positives
1) It turns on and still makes noises for notifications
2) Google now still functions and touching the screen changes the image visible through the few functioning parts of the screen, so I assume the tough screen is still operating.
Is there any way I can gain access to the phone via a PC so I can navigate my way around the device? Any help much appreciated!
Gary
kind of stupid but since your phone appears to be unlocked...why not try to enable usb debugging by connecting your device via usb and navigating based on aproximate knowgledge(or looking at screenshots) where stuff is supposed to be.
then follow this guide? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1581653
you can solve your problem with one solution Display your screen on pc with using phone manager on your pc
Install Phone Manager on your PC. Run the software and connect your Android phone to PC via USB.then it will show your screen on pc..you can back up with this ...try once
