On my T-Mobile (UK) Compact, when I select MMS video, I have the choice of H.263 or MPEG-4 format, both with a choice of different capture sizes.
Whatever format and capture size, the video recording stops at a file size of 234.17 KB. Depending on the format and capture size, the duration of the clip varies between 5 and 15 seconds approximately.
Now try as I may, my phone will not send the message at this size. It tries, but fails. I have managed to send a message if the file size is less than 100 KB, thus a very short video clip.
Whats the standard for video messaging acceptable for a MMS ?
There must be a max. file size and format, what is it ?
Also, does the file size come off my GPRS allowance plus message cost ?
Thanks,
Mike.
After a registry hack I can record decent length videos with MPEG-4 (about 10 seconds, fine for an MMS). However, the MMS app on my Magician says it's an invalid format for sending an MMS. :?
It will send H.263, but it the video seems to be corrupt, playing only the first 3 seconds or so in playback and with choppy sound.
Are there any settings I can change so I can send video properly? Ta

Hi there, it looks like outgoing MMS messages are limited to 100k (SP5m w/ WM6 Perfect Ed.), is that true? Is there a way to change that "max MMS size" value to 300k? I've tried changing that value with SmartTweaker but it didn't worked, I still see those only values (40k, 50k, ... & 100k) for the "max MMS size" and WM6 is still preventing me from sending the MMS if the size goes over 100k. Is it a WM6 or network operator limitation?
Thanks all for your time,
highmighty
Must be a network operator limitation because I can send 300kb mms without problem with my HTC S710 (WM6 Standard).
On my end, it's Windows Mobile 6 that prevent me from sending the MMS message if it's over 100k, how can I change that value? My only options are 40k, 50k, ..., and 100k?! How were you able of sending a 300k MMS message? Which ROM are you using? Mine is the "WM6 Perfect Edition"...
Thanks!

Hi,
I have Windows Mobile 6 in my Treo 750v (Vodafone).
I realised that the MMS is limited to only accept small size video file, every time I attached a video file that has more than 6 seconds recording time; the MMS will say: "File is too large...".
But if I record a video (still with that Treo 750v) only less than 6 seconds, the MMS will accept and sent it.
For the record, I've already tried to change the video resolution settings from the highest to the lowest possible; but the result is still the same.
Is something wrong with the Treo 750v MMS settings?
Because I know HTC devices that use ArchosMMS can be changed through the registry system... But I can't find the MMS registry settings in my Treo 750v.
Anyone can help?
Thanks in advance!
Ok so i've searched and followed directions of how to increase MMS size limit and my limit says I can send 16.1MB but when I try to send a video to facebook I get a message that says Proxy error when trying to send a video just under 3MB...Any thoughts?
the size is limited by the network. Whatever limit you set on your device is only for the MMS app on your phone to attempt to send it, it could be rejected by the network for being too large.
If your getting a proxy error i'd double check your connection settings.
Thanks for your insight
I have my mms settings configured to allow 600kb attachments. I have tried using handcent and gosms. Neither solved the issue. When I receive a message, it gets shrunk. I can send an mms in its full resolution to someone else, but when I receive one, it's always about half as large as the original. For example, if I send a 150kb picture to my girlfriend's tilt2, she receives the same 150kb picture. If I send a 150kb picture to myself, I get a 75kb picture. If she forwards the 150kb picture back to me, it is downgraded to 75kb by my phone. Is there a fix for this. I've been looking around for over an hour with no luck.
Update: I think it has something to do with the network. It's working for the time being. That is...I'm able to both send and receive mms attachments in their original resolution. Beats me.
This seems to do this to me all the time, it pisses me off cause when you go to zoom in its all blurry and grainy. Is there a way to fix this?
I don't believe there is.

It does suck! You have this badass phone, yet you could save mms attachments better with a damn ten year old razr.
Update: I believe it has something to do with peak time. All of the mms attachments that I receive right not (around 1:00 PM on Monday) are being shrunk to half their normal size, whereas last night I was able to receive them in full resolution. Still it's a problem with the phone not the network because I can send and receive them in full resolution on my girlfriends Tilt2 and we are on the same network, same city.
Bump
This to me is a major issue. I am willing to switch roms to solve it. Can anyone confirm if a particular rom fixes the problem?

What ROM are you using now? I'm using CM7 and have received MMS attachments from my wife's iPhone, and they are large, clear and zoomable. So maybe try CM7 or one of the many ROMs based on CM7.
I was on cleardroid. Now I'm on leedroid. Neither allow delivery of large mms attachments. Both roms shrink the mms to about half its original size. Both will send mms attachments in full resolution.
More info about this issue...
Some attachments are sendable and receivable without being compressed and some are not. Size is not the key issue. I sent myself a 175kb pic and received it in its original resolution, but I sent a 140kb pic, and it was compressed down to 75kb upon receipt. It seems to have something to do with the picture itself that causes the resizing. Could it be the dimensions?
I have been using GO SMS Pro for a long time on my Mate 7 (Lollipop 5.1) without any problem
But after i moved to Mate 8 GO SMS Pro has a very strange behaviour, specially when handling with MMS but sometimes also with SMS
Operator configuration is the same, and advanced MMS configuration is the same I used with Mate 7.
On the other hand native sms/mms app from Huawei works smooth and flawlessly.
Could it be some bug or non-compatibility of GO SMS Pro and android MM?
I would apreciate if anyone could share his/her experiencie with this app
many thanks
I have been using Go SMS Pro for 3 years and have had troubles with MMS as well:
1. Image files are dramatically compressed down to 30 KB, destroying image resolution
2. When an incoming MMS message has an attached image file, the conversation with that contact disappears from the SMS list - to make the conversation reappear on my Droid phone, I either have to swipe down on my home screen right after the message alert arrived, entering that conversation directly (rather than through the Go SMS app), or else I have to send a new text message to that contact, which makes the conversation (and the new received MMS image) reappear (in its compressed form, as per issue #1 above).
3. Sometimes MMS messages will simply fail to download. The only way to recover is to shut down the phone and reboot, and then the incoming MMS image file will be retrieved (in its compressed form, as per issue #1 above).
I do like this app, but the MMS image issues are driving me crazy. I just got a new phone and hoped that the problem would be solved, but it is not. Sadly, I'll have to stop using Go SMS Pro so that I can finally see my friends' photos in their intended original size/resolution.

I have also stopped using it but my problems where actualy sending mms (and sometimes even sending sms). Last update on GO SMS I noticed some changes in configuration options, probably to solve some bugs, but they did not solve my problems and so i moved to huawei messaging
