limited MMS? - Palm Treo 750

Hi,
I have Windows Mobile 6 in my Treo 750v (Vodafone).
I realised that the MMS is limited to only accept small size video file, every time I attached a video file that has more than 6 seconds recording time; the MMS will say: "File is too large...".
But if I record a video (still with that Treo 750v) only less than 6 seconds, the MMS will accept and sent it.
For the record, I've already tried to change the video resolution settings from the highest to the lowest possible; but the result is still the same.
Is something wrong with the Treo 750v MMS settings?
Because I know HTC devices that use ArchosMMS can be changed through the registry system... But I can't find the MMS registry settings in my Treo 750v.
Anyone can help?
Thanks in advance!

mms settings and video calls not working for me on universal

I just brought a universal (XDA Exec), I'm using it on 3 in the UK and have got a couple of problems.
I hard reset it and then stopped it doing the O2 customisations by doing a soft reset at that point, I then ran the mms cab file from the extended rom, giving me the mms folder.
I've got GPRS working (can access the net/3 usage page etc.), and have configured MMS to use that as the connection. I have gateway: 217.171.129.2, port number 8799 and server address http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc set, but I cannot send or receive MMS. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Also, video calling was working fine when I got the phone before I hard reset it, I've also installed the native VGA stuff and vjbigphone, now I haven't got a video call button in the phone application, and even if I hold the stylus down on a contact and select "video call" from the menu it immediately fails.
Lastly, my vjbigphone installation isn't quite complete - I've done the registry changes to make the button text bigger and that's worked fine, but I can't change the bkgnd_land or bkgnd_port files in /windows to get rid of the area the standard background doesn't quite cover in vga mode. When I try and overwrite the files, even after removing the "read only" and "system" attributes in resco explorer, I get an error saying the files are stored in ROM and cannot be overwritten.
Thanks for any info
Paul
bump... No-one got any ideas here?
thanks

MMS sending & Receiving problem

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
heyyy guys;
my mms has started creating fuss since Jwrightmcps 2.02.00 WWE.
mainly i have two problems.
1) What happens is like when i try to send mms to anyone... it starts sending and the percentage starts running... but as it gets to 99% , the baloon disappears and the mms either remains unsent in the outbox or moves itself into the drafts folder.
I called up my carrier and they say there ain't no problem with their service and my settings rather it is a total handset related problem.
2) Second problem is like... when i used to receive mms, the pictures are always resized. E.g. if the sender has sent me a photo of size 640x480 (file size 70 KB) it gets resized into say size 105 x 80 (File size 7 KB). what i want to know is if this action is normal or are there any settings fix it an get a full sized image as sent.
when ever an mms is sent to an email address it is always as the original size as sent but not in the handset. pls guide if there are any settings the arcsoft mms client 3.5.
thanx & regards,
farehmani
When I upgraded my 02 Exec to AKU3 it broke MMS with T-Mob (UK). Receiving (not sending) MMS would get to 99% and stop. Everyone had this problem until T-Mob changed something and it started working again.
I have no problem with MMS on this ROM on my Exec with T-Mob so it's probably that your privider doesn't work with the arcsoft mms client 3.5.
I could be wrong.
Change The Mms Composer
Try instal MMS Composer 4.2 or 4.8...
Try your GTW IP set with or without 0's:
example:
217.65.192.33 or 217.065.192.033
and try differnet ports (9201, 80, 8080)

Help MMS!

Hi All,
I recently upgraded to WM6 using midgets build. I have found now that when recieving MMS they all come through as 5kb and are tiny. I have tried sending small files like 50kb to myself and they come through at 5kb too. this also happens when it gets sent from another phone to my phone.
I have checked on the other devices that the compression is disabled but still no joy. Was wondering if anyone is having the same problem? If so is there a solution? Other than this the WM6 version is very good.
Would appreciate some help.
Thanks
Hi Wolfie,
Are you sure you're using the same MMS settings you used before..? because I used both Midget's and Ivan's ROM and they both seem to have MMS working fine. I tried sending 80kb (with audio, picture and text) MMS messages to myself and I can receive the entire thing.
Hi Thanks for replying.
I'm pretty sure i'm using the same settings? What settings are you using? I am on O2 if that helps. Is there anywhere i can find the optimal settings?

hi uatec,
thanks for the settings, i tried this and still no joy!!! I can send to other phones ok but when recieving it comes very small?? I'm confused
Uhmmm... how about Photo Resolution under MMS Configuration-Preferences? Is it set to original? Have you tried playing around with the WAP version under Servers?
yep it is set to original resolution, i have tried both wap stack settings. I just reflashed the rom and still have the problems? i also tried using the settings.cab that was talked about in the other forums, still no joy. Maybe i will just ahve to stick with recieving 5kb MMS!!!
UPDATE!!
i reflashed with Ivans rom and MMS is back working again? So it must be an issue with Midgets rom? or compatability with my phone? Very interesting any thoughts as to why?
My problem is exactly the same - incoming (even selfesent MMS pictures) are coming to me with MAXIMUM size of 6KB. I use Jwrightcmp's WM5 AKU3.2 1.90.96. I put a note in relevant thread. Incoming pictures are always resized to 128x119, without any sence what resolution was the originally. Settings regarding foto in MMS composer seems to be only related to outgoing fotos but not for incoming.

Max MMS size is 100k with WM6?

Hi there, it looks like outgoing MMS messages are limited to 100k (SP5m w/ WM6 Perfect Ed.), is that true? Is there a way to change that "max MMS size" value to 300k? I've tried changing that value with SmartTweaker but it didn't worked, I still see those only values (40k, 50k, ... & 100k) for the "max MMS size" and WM6 is still preventing me from sending the MMS if the size goes over 100k. Is it a WM6 or network operator limitation?
Thanks all for your time,
highmighty
Must be a network operator limitation because I can send 300kb mms without problem with my HTC S710 (WM6 Standard).
On my end, it's Windows Mobile 6 that prevent me from sending the MMS message if it's over 100k, how can I change that value? My only options are 40k, 50k, ..., and 100k?! How were you able of sending a 300k MMS message? Which ROM are you using? Mine is the "WM6 Perfect Edition"...
Thanks!

With Anyone using 6.1 and At&t...MMS issues?

im having issues recieving MMS messages. Ive loaded the right cab but still cant get it to work. I get "error syncronizing" im using schaps beta rom. Anyone have a clue?
thanks,
Maybe its related to this.

well, i did have prob initially after loading 6.1 but i loaded the MMS cab, from dutty i think and it works fine, i m using Alex's 6.1 try going to the faq on his wiki for 6.1 u will find some help there or download a cab for mms/sms. it should fix it.
I used the WM6.1 from the austinsync link and it works fine without any mods at all. It actually runs great just has the reboot bug. I attached the link link.

Have duttys 6.1 on att. No problems what so ever
Dutty's would load on my phone go thru the customization then reboot and freeze at the HTC screen. So I looked in Austin's post and found one I am happy with. Since it was a "public" beta I didnt want to even bother dutty.

I can neither send nor receive, and I'm running the same setup.

The problem associated with that is you have to flash to a older or new radio. Dutty's Publicly released beta requires the older radio's.
Try running the enablehiddenproxy.cab & make certain the user agent is coorectly set for the HTC-8900, Not TYTNII.
I am having a similar problem with MMS. I can send but cant not recieve. Im using WM6.1 based v3.0 by Sleuth. Anyone find a fix for this yet?
FWIW I just reflashed to the orginal At&T rom and now MMS works just fine. Maybe its a WM6.1 issue

Thank you very much that was it.

I've had problems with the MMS since I started flashing the phone. Here are my observations, and then where I'm at now.
- stock ATT Rom, I can send and receive fine. I send to myself they show up full size (506kb sent, 506kb received), I send to someone else, if they can accept the 506kb, they get it. I can send to email addresses and it shows up full size.
- Then I started flashing. I've tried 4 dutty's ROMS, 3 Alex ROMs, two Sleuth ROMs, a Schaps ROM, a Q-ROM and now I'm on a UDk ROM. I see the MMS issue going one of two ways.
1- Non-reception of MMS messages at all. The way to cure this is to play with radios. Downgrade it, upgrade it whatever. Often messing with the radio will get the MMS to receive.
2- Reception of MMS but at a greatly reduced size and or clarity. Take my 506Kb from before. Right now, on my UDk Rom, it goes out at 506 K, receives at 5 K. Basically useless. I'm on the 1.64.08.21 Radio.
In case two, I have tried dutty's, schaps, and alex's cabs (IIRC)... I have three cabs on my phone to setup the er... ATT MMS settings. None of them get me to receive at full size.
Also, I've tweaked the registry settings a thousand ways from yesterday- 614400 for all three receive settings, graduated from 204800-614400 and still no dice there either.
Now sometimes, if someone sends me an MMS message below the 300K threshold, I receive it full size. But anything over, resizes from 5Kb to a max of about 120Kb. Just useless to me.
So far, every ROM I've flashed I've had issues with MMS.
I've even tried the enable hidden proxy cab. I'm not sure what GSLEON3 means by the user agent thing though.
Any help would be appreciated, and hopefully my observations help someone else.
ON EDIT:
I figured out what GSLEON3 meant, I think. I went to start/settings/system/about/Device ID
Then I changed "HTC_TYTNII" to "HTC-8900" and I can now receive MMS messages full size.
So, maybe the fix is this:
For no MMS reception or spotty MMS reception, change radio.
For sending/receiving limits, check your Registry settings, and check your Device ID name.
At least, it worked for me, this time on ATT in So Cal.
overland2:
Hunting around the registry, I found the following key:
HKLM\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader\User-Agent
mine was set to:
Vodaphone/1.0/HTC_Kaiser/3.08.161.0
In addition, the key:
HKLM\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader\x-wap-profile
had a value of:
http://www.htcmms.com.tw/voda/kaiser-1.0.xml
This is from the 5.0.31.7 Package Alex has in his kitchen. I cooked this into my ROM based on the 3.02.405.0 WM 6.1 ROM. I can't receive mms either, but I can send. I am using an ATT Tilt on the ATT network.
I suspect these two reg keys need to be corrected...can you check yours?
GSLEON3 - Can you lend some additional assistance? Thanks..
My experiences with MMS on Windows Mobile 6.1 with At&t are as follows:
I am currently using JohanDC's DCS v1.5 WM6.1 with Radio 1.64.06.04 and the "Att Internet n MMS settings.cab" instead of the autoinstalled settings* and I CAN both send and receive what appear to be full sized image mms. (they are not thumbnail sized at least)
I have also tried Sleuth's WM6.1 with both radio 1.64.08.21 (it came bundled) and 1.64.06.04 and the same cab and could send but was unable to recieve. The phone would wake up from a sleep as if it were about to recieve but it would never connect to download nor would it even give any notification.
*edit*
Reg entries:
HKLM\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader\User-Agent
value= HTC-8500/1.2
HKLM\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader\x-wap-profile
value= http://www.arcsoft.com/mobile/UAProf/ArcSoft-MMSUA-PPC-v42.xml
Thank you Zer0.
You may want to consider changing UserAgent to HTC-8900, although I suspect the 8500 is adequate because it is a Hermes. Did you happen to grab that settings cab you use from the Hermes section?
If you could, can I ask that you post the cab you use to set the ATT mms settings, so that I can extract it and look at the reg settings it changes? I want to see if there are other settings we are missing...
Thanks!
Thanks for the ideas on changing the Radio versions. I reloaded WM6.1 based v3.0 by Sleuth. MMS worked for the first try but then like usual i could not receiver them. I loaded up Radio Rom ver. 1.58.26.20. I then soft reset my Tilt and have received 4 MMS's in the last 1/2 hr with no problems. So i hoping this is the fix I've been looking for.
At&t settings cab attached.
OK heres the issue. When I originally went to 6.1 my mms worked great right out of the box on Duttys Rom. Two days later i could no longer recieve mms. I tried reflashing and using connection setup. Still no recieve. I tried reflashing and manually configuring. Still no recieve. I tried reflashing and using a different settings cab each time. I have tried everyone i could find for ATT (5 in all i think). I tried flashing every 6.1 radio just to see if that could have any chance. I reflashed the rom and played with nearly every reg setting that I had any clue what it was for. Still no recieve. If I send a MMS from my wifes phone mine wakes up but it never connects and recieves. I tried flashing every 6.1 rom out there. Only one ever let me recieve. That was the XTRM rom. However it has huge TCPMP issues so i couldnt stay with that one. Has anyone else with this issue actually found a workaround? How many on US ATT have the ability to recieve MMS? Could anyone that does PM me and send me theyre exported registry key for MMS? It has to be some type of issue with the registry causing it not to querry and connect to the server. Sometimes my mms options will say 300k max send but my composer when creating a mms will say 600k. Its almost like theres two different mms programs overlapping one another. Im open to any suggestions at this point.
Confirming MMS issues on ATT network with Tilt.
As previously posted by other users, I can send just fine but I can not receive any messages. Currently using Dutty's 6.1 with 1.64.08.21
Throughout all my flashing experiences, this has changed back and forth. Sometimes I can receive but not send, sometimes send but not receive, sometimes no MMS whatsoever, and on vary rare, vary brief occasions, I can send and receive.
