Help MMS! - JASJAR, XDA Exec, MDA Pro ROM Development

Hi All,
I recently upgraded to WM6 using midgets build. I have found now that when recieving MMS they all come through as 5kb and are tiny. I have tried sending small files like 50kb to myself and they come through at 5kb too. this also happens when it gets sent from another phone to my phone.
I have checked on the other devices that the compression is disabled but still no joy. Was wondering if anyone is having the same problem? If so is there a solution? Other than this the WM6 version is very good.
Would appreciate some help.
Thanks

Hi Wolfie,
Are you sure you're using the same MMS settings you used before..? because I used both Midget's and Ivan's ROM and they both seem to have MMS working fine. I tried sending 80kb (with audio, picture and text) MMS messages to myself and I can receive the entire thing.

Hi Thanks for replying.
I'm pretty sure i'm using the same settings? What settings are you using? I am on O2 if that helps. Is there anywhere i can find the optimal settings?

hi uatec,
thanks for the settings, i tried this and still no joy!!! I can send to other phones ok but when recieving it comes very small?? I'm confused

Uhmmm... how about Photo Resolution under MMS Configuration-Preferences? Is it set to original? Have you tried playing around with the WAP version under Servers?

yep it is set to original resolution, i have tried both wap stack settings. I just reflashed the rom and still have the problems? i also tried using the settings.cab that was talked about in the other forums, still no joy. Maybe i will just ahve to stick with recieving 5kb MMS!!!

UPDATE!!
i reflashed with Ivans rom and MMS is back working again? So it must be an issue with Midgets rom? or compatability with my phone? Very interesting any thoughts as to why?

My problem is exactly the same - incoming (even selfesent MMS pictures) are coming to me with MAXIMUM size of 6KB. I use Jwrightcmp's WM5 AKU3.2 1.90.96. I put a note in relevant thread. Incoming pictures are always resized to 128x119, without any sence what resolution was the originally. Settings regarding foto in MMS composer seems to be only related to outgoing fotos but not for incoming.

mms settings and video calls not working for me on universal

I just brought a universal (XDA Exec), I'm using it on 3 in the UK and have got a couple of problems.
I hard reset it and then stopped it doing the O2 customisations by doing a soft reset at that point, I then ran the mms cab file from the extended rom, giving me the mms folder.
I've got GPRS working (can access the net/3 usage page etc.), and have configured MMS to use that as the connection. I have gateway: 217.171.129.2, port number 8799 and server address http://mms.um.three.co.uk:10021/mmsc set, but I cannot send or receive MMS. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?
Also, video calling was working fine when I got the phone before I hard reset it, I've also installed the native VGA stuff and vjbigphone, now I haven't got a video call button in the phone application, and even if I hold the stylus down on a contact and select "video call" from the menu it immediately fails.
Lastly, my vjbigphone installation isn't quite complete - I've done the registry changes to make the button text bigger and that's worked fine, but I can't change the bkgnd_land or bkgnd_port files in /windows to get rid of the area the standard background doesn't quite cover in vga mode. When I try and overwrite the files, even after removing the "read only" and "system" attributes in resco explorer, I get an error saying the files are stored in ROM and cannot be overwritten.
Thanks for any info
Paul
bump... No-one got any ideas here?
thanks

Noithing is supposed to come in your inbox folder unless someone sent you something that hasn't been downloaded. MMS files are downloaded as they are received (unless you specified manual downloading)
He's having trouble CREATING a new MMS, not reading one. Do a search for MMS folders
I solved this problem

I do the same with you and have the same problem with you. I solved it hard reset and follow by setting the MMS manually. It's work. I tested both sending and receiving.

wm6 mms

I just installed WM6 on my Cingular 2125 and it works perfectly except for one thing. I went to Messaging to set my MMS setting but there's no MMS listed in my accounts. How do I add MMS?
Same problem...
Hi Guys,
I got the kinda the same problem Is this something you might have heard of before? I've run a few searches on the subject (Google and this forum) and found a few items but nothing that seems to pertain to this exact issue...
I have an Orange SPV M600 which used to have WM5 (MMS worked fine) but now I've 'upgraded' to WM6 (carefully following the instructions) using one of the cooked ROM versions and everything works wonderfully *except* for MMS. Basically, there are no configurable options for MMS inside the messaging program (you know, open the messaging program, click on menu BUT there is no 'MMS Configuration' option).
I seem to remember in the previous bog standard Orange WM5 version that 'MMS Composer' (manufactured by Arcsoft) appeared inside messaging but inside my new cooked WM6 it isn't. Can it be installed? Does it need to be installed? Is there a cab file that can install this? I'd really like to try and avoid formatting and having to try another ROM because of all the configuarion I've done...
Thanks guys
I'm having the same problem, but I tried install the most recent version of the MMS composer and it didn't work either.

I don't see that option anywhere. Did you install anything extra to make that show up? All I have is the OS installed, nothing else. Also that still doesn't tell me where the settings for MMS are.

MMS is working in the WM6 from andot but befor updating do a format binfs(phils instructions) if you don't know who the are you have to do some home work.
MMS
I had the same problem, but hes right you have to actually go into text messages and create a new message, it will as kif you want SMS or MMS, select MMS and from there you can get into settings. Weird you have to create a new message to get to settings, but thats how its set up. From there you can put in your MMS settings from the ATT website.

has anyone got the Arcsoft working to send picture files up to 1MB. I get an unsuccessful installation error and I have already gone into policies and changed the registry to let me able to install other programs, but for some reason this one doesn't work.

i can't get arcsoft working. but there is a simple registry hack to fix the file limit size.
this worked on wm5, i doubt it would be different for wm6

Well I'll be darned, you're right!
Thanks so much to all of you. You're right, you have to go to create a new message and only when you're IN the new message can you go about configuring the MMS options (from inside the new message > menu > options > MMS Options)
Still can't get the bl00dy thing to send and receive MMS messages but I suspect that I haven't configured it quite right. Nearly there though.
Thanks again!
great fix, now I just have to figure out to view sent and received messages
*edit, it actually didn't work.....I have 3 different "SendLimit3"s
you have to get the account settings from your carrier.

Sorry, I keep going back in fourth, but now I can see the messages, but they are very small because they have to be sent under 100k and when I take a picture from the phone, the camera takes them really small. I haven't gotten the size limiter fixed yet
once i entered my account settings, i had the option to send up to 1000k
there is a quick registry hack to change this as well.

I tried changing both

There's no "options" in my menu when I make a new message. I'm using Phil's ROM though, I'm guessing that's my problem?

MMS Problem

Hi,
I got spv c600 n upgraded it to wm6
when someone tries to send me an MMS message, the phone connects to GPRS, but i doont get no notifications of receiving any message.
When I click on the message icon, i only get outlook e-mail and txt messaging. no MMS
can anyone one help me pls
I have been using WM6(the andot version) on my Cingular 2125 for about 3 months now and love it. One issue that I cant seem to resolve is the MMS. I know that if you go into the TEXT MESSAGING and then click Menu, New, and then you can select either SMS or MMS. But I cant receive any MMS, unless I go to create a new one, then it shows that I have a received one, but by this time it is already expired. I cant seem to find any settings that affect the MMS Gateway or such, so any help would be great.
Update***
Now I seem to receive the message about a week later.
What WM6 ROM are you using?
Try Nitro's or EA's version. There is also a setting as to whether you prefer messaging to use GSM or GPRS somewhere.

Got similar problem here with wm6 Eng_Standard v.3.1 running on c600 - I can send MMS but not receive - instead of that I receive SMS notification that this MMS was placed somewhere on GSM carriers servers. By pressing Menu>Send/Receive the top bar shows 'Error Synchronizing' message... Is it possible to change some settings to fix that? Any suggestions, please (my HTC TyTN on the same carrier copes with this issue without any prob - Sends/Receives MMS's both ways).
I suggest having a read of this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=343434
.. it may answer a few questions. I have MMS working perfectly on o2 UK on the "perfect English" ROM with the settings I posted in the above thread, no delay in receiving messages.

Trouble with radio on Tilt

So after trying what seems like an endless number of radios, I'm unable to send emails from my phone using Gmail. Before flashing Hyperdragon III onto my phone, I was able to send/receive email no problem. Now I'm only able to receive, can't send email at all - says Unable to send message(s) - error synchronizing.
If someone could point me in the right direction, that would be awesome. This is starting to get frustrating.
start, settings, connections, manage existing, proxy settings, un-check this network uses a proxy server to connect to the internet
Checked that and the option to use a proxy is already disabled. Any other ideas? Definitely appreciate the suggestion tho.
PS. I also have the cabs to enable/disable the cingular/att proxy and neither makes a difference. Before changing the ROM, emails would send regardless of which setting I used. Hope this helps.

Edit Account setup, then keep hitting mext until you get to the outgoing server settings and after "smtp.gmail.com" add ":587" to the end.
Worked immediately for me. It has to do with the new server authentication that wm6.1 or something requires.
Hope that fixes your problem! let me know if I need to be more specific, I'm at school and I gotta run.
Tried that and no dice. Does seem to be a WM6.1 issue though from what I've been reading.
maybe you should flash different HyderDragon...as there are two new versions came out. Or maybe try to flash the radio...Do you know what radio version you were using before flashed to HDIII?
Don't think it's the radio at this point. I've tried most of them in an attempt to fix the problem, but the 6.0-6.1 upgrade seems to be the culprit.

it prolly is, i mean since its release theres been all sorts of bugs reported ( as well as with HPD III, hence why i wont flash it ) but imo what u should do is start over..
re-flash, get ur new radio and take it from there
Jstar
try running the remove hidden proxy cab and then run the restore hidden proxy cab. i had this problem with gmail before and i think thats how i fixed it. it has nothing to do with the radio your using. just go to at&ts site and look up the connection settings and make sure everything makes sense...
If that doesn't work.
You could always try this.
I seriously doubt this is a radio related issue

Checked that already, too. I'm not exactly a total noob I've had all my stuff working perfectly until upgrading to WM 6.1. The Hyperdragon rom was after the initial upgrade from 6-6.1. Email sending (receiving is fine) through my Gmail accounts just doesn't seem to work now. I suppose I can go back to stock, but... *shudder*
