My thoughts:
a little thinner is good for me, even at the expense of a little wider and a little longer body. WM5 is great news. There's Wifi at long last and integrated GPS is really the cherry on the cake ! Wonder if it will still have a camera ? I find one very useful in my line of work, even a crappy 1.3MP phone cam. On the downside, shame the Galaxy is a little uglier than the Magician... Anyway, think I'm going to sell my Magician and get this one.
Looks like they are trying to keep up with the HP Ipaq 6515: http://www.tekguru.co.uk/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=6688
I'm thinking of getting one of these when it is available with WM2005 and WiFi later this year (model 6517 I think)
What about GSM/GPRS? Sounds like this is a non-phone PDA!
with Windows Mobile 5.0 on it?

I got a test version from vodafone.
very impressive 240X320 screen even hard to see each pixel (because too small).
it is handy and light weight. The joystick feels like sonyEricsson T68 but has a small rubber on the top so feels better.
1.3 MP Camera does not have flash/light.
Layout uses different way from HTC universe, which dimension of logic-pixel is changed.
So some software show very small size text (although it still very clear!)
if they use absolute unit rather than logic unit when CreateFont.
It has some HTC software such as connection manager and debugging tools. It supports WIFI -- it will be fantastic if skype supports SP2005!
I love windows media player 10 for SP. It feels like its PPC version.
It is a pity that HTC changed their earphone head specification again.
so I cannot use Himalaya or BlueAngel earphones.
Finally I found I could use my old Sony Ericsson P800 earphone!
And sound quality of SE earphone is much better than HTC!
I don't understand why stupid HTC design incompatible earphones for each different mobile phone!
expect we waste more money on better earphones and stereo adapters?
You got it in one, they make money by changing the design of them.
I've been waiting for this phone for a long time. How do you find it, is it worth the money etc..? Any pics? Feel free to PM me if you want instead.
Sorry I don't have another mobile phone with good camera now.
I am afraid you cannot buy it. This is a "test only" phone.

More Info

It would really be nice if this were true: "256 ROM, 1280 RAM"
---
I think they meant to say "128 mb ROM".
It looks very similar to "upcomming imate ultimate 7150"
--
Hope the external screen has a caller ID. This was one of the biggest gripes for the Universal.
I also see no call accept / reject buttons on the outside. Does this mean that for accepting a new call the lid will have to be opened??. But I hope I am wrong.
The screen looks flush with the casing just as on the HTC Touch. Possibily this also has touch flo techlology.
The design looks attractive unlike the Universal which was a bit on the ugly side.
Regards
"I also see no call accept / reject buttons on the outside"
suspect it's because it's more of ucpc then a phone
and about ultimate then hope they do get released to give htc some serious compatition which is always healthy
but i still have a fear that they are vapor
4 inch wide screen 800 x480 pxls will have 16M colors rite....
If it is ....then it will be fun.....may be the first windows PPC offering 16M colors...

I checked out the slide and it says 256 ROM and 128 (!) RAM, not 1280. Too bad, but not the end of the world. I'm stilling loving this device
I have spend hours and hours searching for a smartphone that I like, but I haven't found many to choose from. So I though I'd ask the experts.
I am looking for a smartphone that has the following:
- Windows Mobile 5.0 or 6.0
- WiFi b/g
- Front Numerical Pad (NO qwerty keybords)
- Slim (As slim as possible)
So far I found the following:
HP iPAQ 510 Smartphone

Check Asus P series, better than HP
Cheers
gotta be the typhoon. Imate sp5 etc
I can remember back in the day when I first set my eyes on the UX50. What a beauty I thought and even now, 6 years on, I still look at it and think what if they had continued the line.
I thought the clam-shell design was very functional with its swivel screen and camera. Everything on it just seemed so right. Imagine how one would look now with the technology of this day and age. A big bright OLED screen filling out the front of the device, great graphics, blistering speed with a slim form factor and space for a full sized physical keyboard etc.
I really believe they made a mistake when they announced that they would discontinue the device. If they were to make a new similar device I know for sure that I be one of the first to snap it up.
So what do you guys think of a new PDA/phone coming out with a clam-shell, swivel screen action design?
