It would really be nice if this were true: "256 ROM, 1280 RAM"
---
I think they meant to say "128 mb ROM".
It looks very similar to "upcomming imate ultimate 7150"

Hope the external screen has a caller ID. This was one of the biggest gripes for the Universal.
I also see no call accept / reject buttons on the outside. Does this mean that for accepting a new call the lid will have to be opened??. But I hope I am wrong.
The screen looks flush with the casing just as on the HTC Touch. Possibily this also has touch flo techlology.
The design looks attractive unlike the Universal which was a bit on the ugly side.
Regards
"I also see no call accept / reject buttons on the outside"
suspect it's because it's more of ucpc then a phone
and about ultimate then hope they do get released to give htc some serious compatition which is always healthy
but i still have a fear that they are vapor
4 inch wide screen 800 x480 pxls will have 16M colors rite....
If it is ....then it will be fun.....may be the first windows PPC offering 16M colors...

I checked out the slide and it says 256 ROM and 128 (!) RAM, not 1280. Too bad, but not the end of the world. I'm stilling loving this device

Here is a video and more pictures. ---->> HTC MAGNUM
this looks like a tablet PC i have seen somewhere before, some how they have WM6 running on it.. what a waste downgrading from a real OS to a mobile one LOL..
"i wonder if HTC released the video drivers for it yet?"
It is an hp monitor photoshopped with a screenshot of windows mobile. I have the same monitor.
Quickest way to tell is the first shot the buttons on the bottom. (or top right side of it in the pic)
Kinda reminds me when i made it touchscreen for a day using led's and a wiimote, lmao
Edit: I could be wrong about the photoshop part though.
I like this story, no matter it is a fake or something. The photo that he was talking with the "phone" was so amusing - look at his eyes. lol
This could be done with an I-Mate 8502/9502 or Touch Diamond etc with the video out.
If I'm not mistaken, WM6.1 devices can utilize mice so would it be feasable to connect a touch screen to one too?
Audio could be connected easily to the moitor's built in speakers.
Would be funny to have it in your car.

Hello all,
I have been thinking about a new design for a windows mobile phone that I had in my mind and today I managed to put it on my blog at http://sollers.wordpress.com/2009/02/19/ideal-mobile-design-dual-slide-out-mobile/

Honestly, I do not know how to design a phone, nor I know what software to use, but I did some simple design using powerpoint and hopefully you would understand what I had in my mind.
Let me know what you have in your mind and what you think of this kind of phone, if this comes to market. Will that be useful really for consumers?

Dear abdelamine,
Thanks for your reply
What is the model name of the sharp handset you put in there?
Cheers

Sharp EM One
Definitely an attractive concept on paper.
The practical downside of a "dual slider" like that is thickness, though. You'd probably wind up with a bulkier device than you'd like.
I think a good, solid touchscreen really reduces the need for a number pad, and since you've put a nice, full-face widescreen on there, I think I'd get by fine without one.
Essentially I would like to have dual touch interface,
1. Touch screen display
2. Touch screen pad (when you slide down it shows number pad)
3. Touch screen keyboard (when you slide left it shows full querty)
With no buttons apart from the four standard buttons below the display. I hope the two touch based screens (display & input) will help reduce the weight and need of having hardware buttons as keys.
I was using my stylus earlier and I noticed i was tapping the screen quite hard.. and sometimes I press hard with my fingers while using the phone. Does anyone know when to ease up on the pressure?
hello, not sure how much is to much, but if your stylus cracks the screen, or your finger goes through the phone and comes out the other side, its too much pressure, , nah , all kinding aside, i would say only use enough pressure to get the phone to function, i know that might sound dumb, but i think its the right answer, if a light touch works, why would you want to press any harder? if you have a heavy hand, you might have to change your habit. hope this helps

The maximum allowable pressure is 3.8351 megapascalmeters per nanogramsecond squared.

where:
q, p1, ..., pk are distinct primes (Euler).
q ≡ α ≡ 1 (mod 4) (Euler).
The smallest prime factor of N is less than (2k + 8) / 3 (Grün 1952).
The relation e1≡e2≡...≡ek ≡ 1 (mod 3) is not satisfied (McDaniel 1970).
Either qα > 1020, or
> 1020 for some j (Cohen 1987).
(Nielsen 2003).
It's scary that I actually understood that.....
If you are feel that you are putting too much pressure---try feedback vibrating and also look up iTouch by azarhunny. Makes the screen even more sensitive..
And, it's actually 3.8352 megapascalmeters per nanogramsecond squared
I can remember back in the day when I first set my eyes on the UX50. What a beauty I thought and even now, 6 years on, I still look at it and think what if they had continued the line.
I thought the clam-shell design was very functional with its swivel screen and camera. Everything on it just seemed so right. Imagine how one would look now with the technology of this day and age. A big bright OLED screen filling out the front of the device, great graphics, blistering speed with a slim form factor and space for a full sized physical keyboard etc.
I really believe they made a mistake when they announced that they would discontinue the device. If they were to make a new similar device I know for sure that I be one of the first to snap it up.
So what do you guys think of a new PDA/phone coming out with a clam-shell, swivel screen action design?

The main features of this new version are as follows:
First, concise arrangement of applications. Besides the 3 fixed APPs at the bottom screen,
there are only 6 APPs on one interface. This gives larger area for each application.
is this real? will this come in other phones too?
1. It’s a brand new concise version, which can offer more convenient handling steps and much
more concise visual effect with customized bigger fonts and bigger APP image design.
2. Of course, you can go to the Settings for even larger text size and APP images.
3. Click to Settings, it can be easily changed between the max interface and the original interface.
