O2 Battery Plugin? - General Topics

Has anyone managed to seperate the O2 battery plugin from the rest of the Active nonsense?
I could really do with a today plug in that shows normal and back-up battery life and there's no way I'm prepared to put up with having to soft reset every hour just to get it!!

XDA IIs Backup Battery at 0% and will not charge

I've just acquired an O2 branded (from HK) XDA IIs, and when phone powers up I am notified that the backup battery is at 0%.
Leaving the phone charging in its cradle for 2 days and backup battery still shows as 0%.
Have done both soft and hard reset, as well as upgrading to latest radio stack and OS.
Am I now forced to do surgery on this unit and replace the internal backup battery?
Has anyone performed this process on this unit before?
Hints, part numbers etc
I appreciate all help and thank you in advance.

In a seperate thread, Sandy suggested charging main battery first in aux charger location, and then trying to charge backup battery since she is under the impression that backup battery charges from main battery. (see Blue Angel forum)
Thanks for the suggestion Sandy.
However, the problem persists.
I've even tried putting the phone on the cradle without the main battery to see if this would force a backup battery charge. The charging light stays red, and after a couple of hours, backup battery status still says 0% (so it's not a sensor issue), and if you remove main battery, it continues to be the same as a hardware reset.
On a positive note, xbackup seems to restore things quite well.
Can anyone else think of any good ideals?
The error message on boot-up emphasizes the problem
"To prevent possible data loss, replace or recharge your battery according to the owner's manual"
I find no such instructions in my owner's manual.
What's the longest you've left it on charge.. I had a flat backup battery after it had been off for repair and it took over 3 hours on charge before it showed any charge being taken.
Also I did charge the main battery first as it does affect the ability of the backup battery to acccept a charge
Everynight for the past week it's been on charge for atleast 8hrs at a time. However this is not in a cradle but rather using 'travel' charger. Could there be a difference?
I remember hearing the same problem a while ago, and im sure the only solution was to get a replacement as it was a faulty device.

Can I get rid of the Backup Battery Problem

Hi All,
I rarely use my Magician device, and when i eventually turn it on, the backup betery is dead and often I need to re-install the whole things from scratch, as I have lost every single bit of information stored on memory.
I was wondering whether there is a tweak so that the backuo battery doesnt get used at all, instead the main battery, so this way I will not have the problem described above.
Thanks in advance.
The backup battery gets drained only after the main battery is depleated.
I got the same problem, phone turns off any moment and if i want tot turn the phone on he's resetting itself to factory default. Even when my main battery is 100%
possibly corroded backup battery.
Its the case with my I mate jam. I do have a XDA mini and it has no problems.
The backup battery is behind the loudspeaker, so dissassemble and clean, really.
And if your thinking if you can order a replacement batt, think again, i cant get a hold of a replacement battery so i have to clean off the corrosion every few months.
backup backup backup is the moral of the story.

Battery drain... funny problem

Hi All,
Got this funny problem since I have flashed TNT WM6.1.
My mobile battery shows some funny traits.
1. It can suddenly go off (even if the bar is at 87% or 63% or 30% or anything of that sort)
2. Once it goes off, it gets into a loopback of restarting the device, goes upto the screen where WM6.1 logo appears and restarts again.
3. The only way I can then get it restarted is to get it to plug to a powersource.
4. When I plugin it shows within 5 min that the battery is fully charged.
5. I use audio manager a lot and its like every 30 seconds 1% of battery is gone.
Have search through the forum but haven't found anything like this.
Anyone has face a similar problem and found any solution?
Any help will be much appreciated.
I am on SPL/IPL 3.08.
Time for a new battery....
I ran across the same problem. It turned out that the terminals on the battery were seriously worn down so much that the battery couldn't hold a charge to safe it's life let alone mine!!!! I went to a battery store and replaced the muthaf^$#a!!!!!
Go grab a new battery and you'll be electric sliding again in no time!!!!
Thanks Trej3k. Much appreciate your response.
Yeah
Had the same issue.
Replaced the battery ... and now everything is fine.
Now I don't expect 5 days without recharge but at least 2 days.
Along with the new battery I bought an battery charger so now I can use two batteries.
The nice thing is that the old battery is lasting at least as the new one, Maybe because of the charging more regularly and not so frequently and because both batteries never go in usage when they are hot of charge.
Try your thing

I had the same problem pretty soon after I flashed my ROM for the first time. I would charge to 100% and then browse the Internet or take a call, and the device would reset within a couple of minutes b/c it would think it was out of power. The timing may have been a coincidence; I don't know. I bought an extended battery and everything works fine now.

I had the exact same problem right after flashing to wm6. I really wonder if it's a coincidence.
I ordered a new battery today because I have exactly the same problem. I also apeared after flashing WM6.1 a while ago an became worse with time. Since my battery is 3 years old, it could also just be a battery at its end of life...

What if I leave my Imate Jam without charging?

What will happen if I leave my Old Imate Jam without charging for many days? I am not using it. Will I loose everything? if the battery dicharges?
Nope. It'll eventually reach a point where it just shuts off because it's not receiving power.
Technically speaking, after your main battery drains, you phone may then switch to a backup coin type battery (I don't know if your phone has one), and after that drains, the worst that will happen is that the date and time on your phone will reset to factory. That's it.
Thanks jadel and kraize for your support.

How do I fix an incorrect battery reading?

I just got an old HTC Trinity 3600 from my dad, I installed WM6 on it and I noticed there seems to be something off with the devices battery reading. If I dont touch it from a full day the battery will remain at the same 90%, but as soon as I do something with it the battery drops really really fast, like down to 50% in just a few minutes. But the weirdest thing is, once it gets to 10% it stays there for a very long time.
I tried doing a full charge and empty it as much as I could (turn it back on several times and even load the bootloader and let it die there) but it doesn't seem to have fix it.
Is there anyway I can fix it? Or as a last alternative, is there anyway to remove the battery limitations WM6 has once it reaches 10%? For example, it doesn't let me use Wi-Fi, even though the battery will still last a long time once it reaches 10%.
