I just got an old HTC Trinity 3600 from my dad, I installed WM6 on it and I noticed there seems to be something off with the devices battery reading. If I dont touch it from a full day the battery will remain at the same 90%, but as soon as I do something with it the battery drops really really fast, like down to 50% in just a few minutes. But the weirdest thing is, once it gets to 10% it stays there for a very long time.
I tried doing a full charge and empty it as much as I could (turn it back on several times and even load the bootloader and let it die there) but it doesn't seem to have fix it.
Is there anyway I can fix it? Or as a last alternative, is there anyway to remove the battery limitations WM6 has once it reaches 10%? For example, it doesn't let me use Wi-Fi, even though the battery will still last a long time once it reaches 10%.

Hi All,
Got this funny problem since I have flashed TNT WM6.1.
My mobile battery shows some funny traits.
1. It can suddenly go off (even if the bar is at 87% or 63% or 30% or anything of that sort)
2. Once it goes off, it gets into a loopback of restarting the device, goes upto the screen where WM6.1 logo appears and restarts again.
3. The only way I can then get it restarted is to get it to plug to a powersource.
4. When I plugin it shows within 5 min that the battery is fully charged.
5. I use audio manager a lot and its like every 30 seconds 1% of battery is gone.
Have search through the forum but haven't found anything like this.
Anyone has face a similar problem and found any solution?
Any help will be much appreciated.
I am on SPL/IPL 3.08.

I ran across the same problem. It turned out that the terminals on the battery were seriously worn down so much that the battery couldn't hold a charge to safe it's life let alone mine!!!! I went to a battery store and replaced the muthaf^$#a!!!!!
Go grab a new battery and you'll be electric sliding again in no time!!!!

Had the same issue.
Replaced the battery ... and now everything is fine.
Now I don't expect 5 days without recharge but at least 2 days.
Along with the new battery I bought an battery charger so now I can use two batteries.
The nice thing is that the old battery is lasting at least as the new one, Maybe because of the charging more regularly and not so frequently and because both batteries never go in usage when they are hot of charge.

I had the same problem pretty soon after I flashed my ROM for the first time. I would charge to 100% and then browse the Internet or take a call, and the device would reset within a couple of minutes b/c it would think it was out of power. The timing may have been a coincidence; I don't know. I bought an extended battery and everything works fine now.

I had the exact same problem right after flashing to wm6. I really wonder if it's a coincidence.
I ordered a new battery today because I have exactly the same problem. I also apeared after flashing WM6.1 a while ago an became worse with time. Since my battery is 3 years old, it could also just be a battery at its end of life...

Maybe this depends on the batterys but mine was having that problem of going dead at higher and higher % it started at 10 than 30 then 50 and up to 70 I think.
I've tested all the solutions in the wiki (yes the freezer too ) but with no improvements, then I did the opposite, instead of draining the battery fast I drained the battery slowly and when the Universal shuted off I pluged it to the electricity until it boots ok and the cpu returned to 0/1%, then take it from electric power again and wait until it goes dead again and did this over and over again until I reached the minimum battery of 9% i think. Great improvement since I was already looking for battery replacements... Then I charged it over night.
Conclusion I have the Universal alive for 3 consecutive days (and nights) now at 52% waiting to check when it dies again
By draining the battery slowly I mean no light in the screen, no running programs and universal in closed state, flight mode and just one thing to check if it was alive or not, play some music in WMP in repeat mode, when it stoped playing it was time to have a litte more eletric juice until I could boot it up and start the music playing again.
When I have the final results -> when the universal goes down I will post the solution in the wiki
Again this may depend on the batterys but since there are so many people buying new ones you maybe want to try this solution too.
Oh and by the way I solved an "other" problem while trying to solve this...
Besides the tests on the battery like freezing it over night, taking the power level pin etc, I've started to think it was a problem from the rom so I cleaned the Universal doing that "task 28" thing and the result was solving the problem that I was having with the battery status (now home screen plus plus) it was not getting the cpu using percentage when in the past it did. Now with the cleaning reg whatever It is showing again the cpu using %
I don't know if you use this but it has a cool functionality, posting the cpu using % at the top bar of your universal can tell you how much the universal is working all the time, enabling you to notice when it is working when it shouldn't, normally some stupid background program that didn't go off...

I have two same unis, and three batteries. two standard, one big capacity 3200mAh (personally I dont believe it have such capacity, it is some china crap). but all three had that issue (uni shut down when capacity still showing more as 30% or more %). tried to deplete the battery completely (when it wont boot, I put device to bootloader mode and wait untill died completelly). now it show again 0% on all three batteries. I dont want to say, that your method is bad . no, I am just a lucky one, where the "wiki" methods worked correctly. and I think it is also important sometime charge the battery completelly, not only for couple of minutes, but until you see green light. when you deplete the battery completelly to zero (it is never zero, electronics integrated on the batter doesnt allow that) charging to full take much more time as before.

one more thing, you can test, how much capacity your battery have. it is simple utility called power detect. you can find it in THIS thread or as attached file. just copy to device and run. the test will suspend itself after one hour, so set all settings as needed. it will automatically create file, where you can find all important information. before you use it first time, charge your battery to full.

I tried the boot loader mode but it seemed it had a timeout, instead of dying from battery losse it died from some kind of time out :/ because I was still capable of juicing some more battery if i went again to boot loader...

well my battery used to shut off at 95 above present...wat i did was drain the battery with a 12 volt motor, took me a complete day for it to discharge, then i put it in the freezer, was suppose to put it for one night but i actually forgot bout me putting the battery in the freezer n i remembered after 2 days. then i charged it which also took around 18 hours to charge now my batter shouts itself at 70% n i can listen to music for 1.5 hours. which is a lot from a battery which was shutting at 95%

I also have this kind of problem on my device, but not it doesn't occur every time on these situations. In further research, I find out only some of the batteries (I have 3 original batteries for the device) can't read accurately. Does anybody else experience this problem?
I also have this problem.
HTC support seem a bit oblivious to it however and gave me no help.
seems that after a few reboots, once the loss of charge seems to settle, ie only going down by say a few percent each boot, then it is stable, and once given a full to 100% charge, which can take more than overnight (if you leave the phone on - which it seems you have to, for this to work) then it holds a charge well.
Yep, same problem here as well. It seems to have started with me over-loading the battery. Afterwards it showed a bit of variation before and after a cold boot. However the differences are not that extreme (+- 5%). Also I noticed that temperature plays quite an important role.
Maybe also the battery % tweak has something to do with it, but I cannot confirm this.

I've also noticed this. But I think that the battery reading is never fully accurate and never was on earlier devices either. It's only the detailed percentage reading which is now possible on the VGA screen that makes us noticing it.

I always use other utilities to view battery status in percentage for years. On my previous devices, from Magician to Kaiser, percentage was going down all the time, but on Raphael, sometimes the percentage just freeze - It means, the percentage stayed on like 73% for serveral hours but after I soft-reset the device, the percentage reads 49%. So this problem is more than inaccuracy, actually it may be a hardware bug.
I've noticed that after charging my TP for around 2-3 hours the battery will be fully recharged, even though my TP is reporting it only being as low as 50 % charged. If I just unplug it at this point, and start using it normally, the battery reading is highly inaccurate and often freezes for several hours just to take a ~20 % dive later. However, if I do a soft reset after charging (no matter if it's fully charged or not) I feel I can get fairly accurate and consistent battery readings. Also, if I've been charging for ~3 hours, the battery reading may well say it's only 80 % charged, but after a soft reset it's gone up to 100 %.
So, for me, a soft reset after every charging period keeps the battery reading quite accurate.
I've been noticing the same problem with the soft resets from all my ROM flashing. I've also noticed that it pccurs sometimes when texting or using the internet. I'll send like one or two texts and my charge drops 5%. I guess the thing that calculates the battery charge uses some weird algorithm that doesnt work correctly when the phone is essentially idle.
I know there are a few threads on the battery levels being a bit random at times, but mine is really hacking me off.
It will stop at say 75% and just stay there, when I reboot its down to like 50% or less. Twice now its gone dead because I though it had plenty of charge but just wasn't moving.
Is it the phone or battery thats the problem or drivers or something - ps this is on a standard rom, no tweaks etc.
same here.im using romeos rom but it seems to be a problem with another roms to.the battery % stay (for example) 10 hrs 68 % and after reset dropt 5,10,15 % down . is it hardware problem or software ?
And quite same here... The case is a bit worse even. When I charge it from lo-bat warning to full, it sort of overcharges itself and might hang up even! I noticed this in two phases - 1) when I left my TP to charge during night, it was hanged in the morning 2) when charging from lo-batt and restarting at ~85% bat level, after boot up the battery reports something at 98% or something!
I have the same (all posts) some time I have 78% and make reset and now i have 89%. Which is real 78 or 89%!??
when I charge all night I have only 70-92% after 6 hours, and after reset 100%
For me this is unusable as I cant trust it without constantly rebooting which is not good enough.
Lucky for me its a second phone, so I'll flog it and think of something else.

I have the same problem, after charging over night. The battery indicator shows, that a battery is not fully charged. After short removing battery and rebooting it shows 100%. With another HTC battery it is the same. When I use another spare battery (not original HTC), it works correctly. But I dont like the spare battery, because it is hard to remove from device because of its sharp edges. I think, it is a HW problem of battery, or a problem of device.
I bought my phone new when the Galaxy S6 first came out and have not rooted it.
For while now my battery life has been bad but consistent, or I would say acceptable given what is running in the background. With normal usage, including connecting to a bluetooth watch, LTE, and location services on, my phone battery would drop from around 100% starting at 7am to around 70% by noon. On weekends when I'm just at home and have it on Wifi instead and no bluetooth, it takes until around 6pm to drain to 70%. These numbers have been consistent, give or take 5% for over a year.
The problem started recently when I received an OS update. I can't remember if I was already on Android 7.0 before this update and it was just a minor update for something else, or if this updated me to 7.0 from 6.x
The first week after the update the battery was great. With no change in the way I use my phone I was able to go the entire day without recharging. By noon I was still at 85-90% and by around 7pm it showed 60-70%. So I was able to go the entire day without recharging for almost 2 weeks after the update.
The problem started 3 days ago when suddenly the battery is draining like crazy, and it seems like there's something weird with the battery indicator and the way it's charging. Again, nothing has changed in the way I use my phone.
Now, when I use it, the battery will go down by 1% every minute. And even when I don't use it, it will be down to 70% by 8am and 20% by noon. The stranger thing is when I try to charge it.
Before, with normal use, it will take around 1 hour to charge my every night. Also, the indicator showing how much time is remaining is pretty accurate as well. Now, when I charge it, it seems to take a lot longer. The time indicator will sometimes fluctuate. It may show a realistic time like 45mins remaining, then change to 10mins, then back to 45mins. Also, the times seem to be incorrect. For example, before if I'm at 85% it might take another 15-20mins to reach 100%. Now, it will be at 85%, say it will take 40mins, but after 40mins it's still only showing 90%.
I tried restarting my phone normally, and resetting it by pressing the the vol down and power buttons. I also tried other power saving methods like forcing apps to sleep when I'm not using them. But for some reason, the battery is still draining like crazy.
At this point, given what is going on when I charge the battery, I'm wondering if the real problem is the OS update screwed up the way the phone is reading the battery's power and not that the battery is actually being drained. Maybe the battery in fact is still at 70% by noon even though it says 20%.
Sorry for the long post, I just wanted to be as detailed as possible given that this seems to be different from some of the other battery related problems I've read about on the forums.
Any help or insight will be appreciated.
