On a full charge I get max 4 hours of standby from my XDa2i. I've tried a different battery and get the same kind if life.
Any ideas why this might be so short, I'm not even using turbo mode.
Running Journal bar Today add-on but that's about all.

Yes, I have the same problem.
After delate HZC , now I have 10-12h normal working. Also Problem with Spb and TT5
Now, I delate compled Carrier device..........fantastik! Only WM 2003 SEGER

Re Batterie Life
Hi Fritz,
Sorry, HZC like (Germany) is H for Home, Z for Zone, C for Control
On my XDA 2 i, here in German, when have a Special Payment for this (I don't no in GB)
so I delate this, (extendedROM) and I have a lot of hours more for working.

xda2i battery life
hi
i have just sent back my 2 week old xda2i because the battery wasnt up to it and the one they sent keeps its charge all day. its miles better
kevin
Mardie, how did you manage to delete anything in the extended ROM?
My xdaIIi will hold it's charge for days with the PDA off (or at least in "standby") and the phone on standby, with the PDA on I only get ~4 hours of use, should I get more?
I recoemmend you all buy a seperate battery or called backup battery incase you are running out of power you still have one. I have 3 backup battery for all sure
Speaking of additional batteries, has anyone tried those cheap (£10-£20) batteries from ebay, are they worth getting?
Im not trying to say that im against the cheap batteries but you should buy official HTC distributor wich can me you guarantee that it is 100% working and high quality.
The GPRS monitor says 4hoursish on the battery normally and that's probably right when I use the PDA?
Should the full usage of PDA on non-turbo mode be around 4 hours? I would think it should be more?
This is XDA IIi also.

Yeah, that's the same thing I had, so I decided to test it. I left the PDA on with the back light off whilst not in use and used it as normal.
The battery life indicator is odd, it starts with an estimate of ~4 hours, then when ~3 hours have passed, it then shoots up to ~6 hours. the PDA lasts for ~12-15 hours in reality. PLUS it looks like the more you leave it on, the more accurate the battery meter becomes

It is more, MUCH more
Mine was low because I had the backlight on permanently, well you have to so you can see the screen when using Tom Tom.
I found that the battery meter still says 4 hours but in actuality i get much much more time than that. I'll try leaving it on to see if I can up it a bit.
Anyone know of a utility that can easily switch power modes, rather than start-settings-power and then making the changes?
Thanks PC, it's just that it seems to not last long for me.
I have the phone going on + off between pure phone mode + PDA mode quite a bit during the day so the Today plugins reupdate quite a bit.
I'll see how it goes and do a test when I have time of how long the PDA lasts staying on.
Thanks,

Hello, got my Touch Pro ago 2 or 3 weeks. Lately I noticed a rapid decreasing runtime...
I had the phone the whole night (~8hours) connected to the power-adapter
and this morning around 8am it said the battery is completely full. Around 6pm (less then 12 hours) it automatically turned off.
First I had bluetooth or the weather-update under suspicion, but it was all deactivated. Then I turned of anything that would need a connection to the internet (and even with that sporadically on it shouldn't be empty after 12 hours!)... helped nothing. The last thing I thought what might could be the reason was the "SensorLock"-utility. It locks the phone after it goes into standby, nice if you keep it in the leather-bag and you get calls. But even uninstalling that prog didn't help.
What do I do now? If I send it back to Amazon it takes weeks to get a new battery or phone (German amazon sucks). What about HTC itself? Do they have some battery-replacement guarantee?
How much did you use the phone? Where you texting a lot or calling alot? I text about 100-200 sent messages a day, and my phone lasts about the same amount of time.

Nope, no phonecalls (beside one short incomming call) or shortmessages at all. Used it just 30 mins for playing music out of the loudspeaker and to get waked in the morning by the alarm. +300hours standby should'nt be 12 hours if I just use some progs and the display...
The best thing to do is cycle your charge. Leave the phone on until it shuts off and cannot turn on. Then recharge in the off state. Do this and your battery will last longer.
Also, don't leave your phone charging for longer then necessary. I've killed many a phone batteries this way. It should be come general practice to fully charge your battery before you do anything with the phone upon initial receipt. Most phone batteries come with a partial charge, but you should always follow the instruction manual.
I'm not 100% sure, but don't most modern high-end electronics have technology in them that make sure that the battery is not "over-charged" so to speak?
my t-mobile mda, nor my 8525 didnt...
or maybe i was just the victim of two faulty batteries on different phones.
Wow, another battery thread....
Could you please, please use the search option or browse through 4 pages before making a new thread??
Time for a lock.....
i was getting really crappy battery life ( i have a fuze) and this is what i realized:
- romeo's rom kills the battery on the at&t fuze
- S2U2 also kills your battery
-Touch flo is not great for your battery either
i've flashed NATF's rom, and disabled s2u2 (still running tf3d) and i still have about 40-50 % battery life after a full day (medium usage)
good luck
omar
use search...
there are apps that run while your device is off
also, things like 3g/hspda run the battery down quicker
and batteries cant be overcarged these days why would they invent cradles if they wanted us to let the device fully run out before charging again?
For two days in a row I have charged my Fuze before going to bed. I made sure it was fully charged, pulled it off the charger, went to bed, in the morning the phone was on it's last bar. 8hrs of sitting on my desk and the phone fully discharges, something is not right here.
Run Adv Config, & turn 3G off when not using 3G.. It's almost as bad as WiFi... otherwise use a taskmanager and see who is using the CPU....shutdown all programs too when the phone is really not being used. I had the Wizard / Hermes and both were crummy on the batteries...
I do have to admit though that the Fuze does seem to consume more battery already....even though I know I play with it since it's new...lol

I charged the battery to full state around 5 times after I got it, thats not the prob. Beside: it shouldn't make a difference if you let it connected to the charger, its LiIon and not a NiCd-battery.
It can't be that the battery dies after 2 weeks of use, even in a worst-case scenario! If, HTC is ****ed.

As I said earlier, I had the HTC Tytn before, and it really had a standby-time of around 300hours, so if I didn't use it and just carried in my jacket and received here and there some messages or calls it lasted around 3-4 days.
But the TouchPro now only lasts 12 hours "just in my jacket"?? Hello?
And: yes UMTS(3G) makes the battery-time smaller, yup. But e.g. from 350hours to 300 hours, not from 350hours to 12! Even if a GPRS/3G connection is established, as long no data is transfered the connection should, beside some IP-data to keep the connection alive, not make a much less battery-life... again think about the 350hours.

yes, that sucks. i never had any GPRS/3G connection, just enabled and the phone was dead after 12 hours or even earlier.
but since i disabled UMTS my battery lasts a week and longer, im really happy with the device now (but its annoying that i have to enable 3G everytime i need it)
Well in my eyes it is not normal, or if then mis-manufactured stuff.
I would like to know where the difference between the TyTn and the TouchPro is (in case of the UMTS-part) if it was before possible to get a week standby-time and now it dies after a half day.
Oh and btw.: where can I turn off UMTS? In the tytn with Schaps ROM i could do it in the comm-manager.
In the TouchPro I only have buttons for Phone, Wifi, Bluetooth, Flightmode, and DirectPush (what I can't use... no idea how. Works only with MS Exchange-server, huh?)
I know that it says 300 hours, but you'd be foolish to actually expect that. Those conditions would be pretty much not touching the phone, with no programs running, no calls, texts, updates (e-mail, weather, etc), in order to acheive 300 hours.
I'm on a stock AT&T rom albeit with more tweaks than I could possibly imagine with moderate usage (a few phone calls, dozen or so texts, an hour or two of surfing, push e-mail on two accounts updated hourly, GPS for about an hour, maybe more that I can't think of) and I hit about two days.

Hello all,
I was wondering if there are any other S710 users who have been experiencing battery issues with the HTC Vox.
For a while I was running Dr. Gonzo's Guava Rom and everything was great with it all except for the battery life. I didn't pay much attention to it, but it finally got on my nerves. It came to the point where I could only use the phone for around 14-16 hours under moderate use and wifi+bt OFF after a full charge.
Today, I flashed the VOX with fireburned CLEAN v1.2. and it seems to be the same. I don't recall having this issue with the Official ROM.
Battery issue? any ideas? I dont want to spend money on an extended battery if it is a software issue.
Much appreciated!
It seems same to me too. I flashed not less than 20 ROMs in my VOX's use of nine months and I found that my battery slowly got weakened and was going only for 14 15 hours without too much use. Practically I had to buy a fresh battery from www.megacapacity.com. It arrived yesterday and serving me about 1.5 days for normal use. It is 1100mah in place of 1050mah original but is of std size.
Opinion of other users invited.
Did not notice anything as such. My Vox is nearly 1 Year 4 months old. So I am not expecting much from it.
Because during my initial flashing, I never had any noticeable battery performance issues. I have flashed almost all ROMs of Dr. G's, a couple of fh's and 3 of fireburned's ROM, about to flash with the 4th
I've had my phone for approximately the same amount of time and I've only flashed it probably 4-5 times in total.
Perhaps I shall look into getting a new battery as well...I want to be able to use Wifi normally without losing the phone halfway through the day.

I think you may have a hardware issue (not sure though). When I am not travelling, my phones battery at the end of the day shows more or less 60% charge left. I use flexmail to check my mails every hour. If there is any mail worth reading, then I use i.e. to check mails. So I think you can consider it moderate GPRS usage, plus there are of course voice calls . Though I do not use wifi or BT.
If you plan to buy a new battery though, I think it will be better if you go for an extended battery.
I read in another topic that it's somehow related to the Radio version.

Parthabhatta, what were shipping charges to india? how much is the total cost? How much time does it take in delivery?
i am looking to buy a new one same 1100mAh.
Because im new with Vox in generally can someone tell me what should be aproximated battery life with vox? (NO wifi, NO bt, 1-2h/day using normal phone calling)
What could be normal battery life with TCPMP and movie divx 320x240 256kbit ?
Everyone seems to have great battery life, so I wouldn't be the person to tell you what the average battery life is.
I just tested out the battery life this morning. 100% charged and i turned on Wifi to use. 45 minutes later, my phone dies.
So I get less than an hour of power on Wifi. I don't think that seems like a battery problem. Using it normally, gives me at least 14-15 hours+ (no wifi/no bt).
Perhaps its a hardware bug? Software bug? Any input is appreciated.

Hi gwmnx!
The same problem i have to, my battery life is very poor , maxim 10- 12 hours(no wifi/no bt), without browsing internet or other else and battery dies.
I buy a new battery, and exact same problem with it, in maximum 14 hours is finished
I was in a service , and they verify my batterys, and they told me the batterys is very good both.
And probably the phone have a hardware issue , but they don't know to repare it because they don't have a electronic schematic of my phone
I tested 3 ROM's by now, but nothing is change, with every ROM, same problem.
I don't know what to do and what to say, i'm very disappointed
Excuse me for bad English , i don't speak very well!
Same issue i am facing here. My phone battery dies in 10-12 hours. Don't know if it happens due to lot of ROM upgrades everyday or using overclocking...
I am going to purchase a new battery soon. If that also works same, i will revert to original VOX 6.0 ROM. No overlcoking, no R&D, no research no development further because you need to compromise with hardware malfuntioning, damages etc against this kind of R&D.

I bought my battery for 15.5$. Shipping is free worldwide on all items. It reached me in 16 days. It is now giving me 1.5 to 2 days on fireburned 1.2 ROM.
For a change, you just change the homescreen from sliding to anything like windows default. And make normal usage. I'm dead sure you'll get better results even if you're in Rose ROM. I mean, you'll get better battery performance if you're not in sliding homescreen.
I'm using Fireburned's 1.2 version ROM.
Thanks

How does the sliding panel attribute to 45 minutes of wifi usage. I'm not even on the homescreen, just using the web browser?
I mean, I think it might be a definite reason since I only started noticing poor battery life after 6.1. With the original Vox WM6.0, I definitely had better battery life.
there are some roms that kills the battery life to around half or more. like gonzo's latest rose rom.

Great man! Rs.948 is still cheaper, HTC service centre rates are Rs1390.
What do you mean by Extended battery? Any difference from normal battery?
And what about 2250mAh battery, does it fit fine or looks odd?
2250 mAh is the extended battery. I didnot buy although it was comparatively cheaper because to me it will not only look odd but make the phone bulky and heavier too. But now i feel that 2250 would have been a better choice as i am an avid gprs user. Now think and buy- difference of only 2.5/3 USD.

Well, being in browser doesn't mean your homescreen is off. Sliding panel itself consumes lots of battery. Just change your homescreen from settings to something else not related to sliding panel or Rose Homescreen. For a change just change it back to windows default. let it be changed for a day (You won't loose anything). I strongly believe there would be some difference in battery consumption and consumption will be lesser.
Thanks
Extended Battery really looks too odd. it looks like you've added another battery
Hello friends, I currently have a fuze flashed with NRG's latest EnergyROM and I can only push about 5 hrs of heavy use or 8hrs of light use.
Light use consists of:
150 Text messages,
Email every 15 minutes,
3G Turned off
20 Minutes total talk time (Not even sometimes)
Windows Live Messenger online (not the whole day, just a couple hours) and maybe having a 20 minute IM conversation.
Heavy use consists off:
Music Playing
Heavy Texting (300 or more texts)
Screen on most of the time
Most use on EDGE
Browse a couple websites
Maybe some youtube on 3G
I have uninstalled Gyrator to get better life.
I have flashed many ROMs and I this is the best I can get to. How is your experiences? I'm willing to flash 6.1 or 6.5. Let me know what works for you with ROM + Radio + Rilphone combo you have. Thanks!
Everything depends on the rom u have installed. Try this rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=528217

My battery lasts about 2 days if I don't use the phone heavily but I think that if you squeeze a day out of your Pro with heavy use as you mentioned, you can be glad...
Most of the smartphones use a lot of battery in case of heavy use....
my stock battery lasts me something like 24 hours with medium use. battery life is very radio/rom/charge pattern dependant.

Right, but even with the slightest use I can only squeeze no more than 10 hrs. I tried every lots of combos with radio and ROMs. NATF 4.7 and Elite RC4 was pretty good enough but I want WM 6.5. Thank you everyone

Put it like this... im running Energyrom and I took my phone off the charger at 7 am EST. Right now it's 10:10 EST and I'm down to almost 65% already. That's with Beejive, Seven email with 3 accounts and about 10-15 texts. If I didnt like the rom so much I wouldve dumped it long ago but I just suffer and carry a charger with me.

I have been able to reduce the battery consumption to almost zero on stand by. But it uses 1-2% per minute on Wifi or GPS use. Infact it gets drained fater than it gets charged if GPS is used connected to car charger, with data and WiFi off.
My only gripe is that it gets drained fater than it charges on car charger when GPS is ON.

If this is light use, then I am Osama bin Laden. 150 messages, WLM and IM means that your display is on most of the time (while reading and replying), and display is one of the great consumers of the battery. Also, the fact that your checking email so often, and you're on internet through IM and WLM, means that you're online practically all the time. Internet is the greatest battery killer, btw. Anyway, I would recommend you to use the stock ROM because the battery lasts longer than majority of custom ROMs, and if don't want that, you shouldn't use 6.5 OS - it's a battery hog at this time. Also, lower your backlight, set in power settings "Turn off the device after 1 minute" and do a search on this forum about more battery saving tips.

I know the brightness is a total killer. Last year I had 15 phones... My SIM card is so beat up that it looks like a dog chewed on it. I know all the battery saving tips. I just can't make it work. I do not constantly check WLM. Just once maybe a half hour but I do not IM. I just leave it on. The blackjack II lasts me a whole day from 7 to 12 with email, WLM, major texting, browsing the web and more. I'm not comparing the 2 but the battery life REALLY sucks on this thing. Stock ROM is too slow and useless for my taste. I'm flashing timlol's like-stock ROM to see. The Dynasty ROM really has good battery life but its too buggy. Man I sound so pessimistic. Lol. You don't have to check WLM or IM all the time, it's enough that you are connected to web all the time. Blackjack II has a 2,4" display wioth 320x240 resolution, & Raphael 2,8", 480x640. HTC could've integrate bigger battery, but then our Raphael would be a fat piggy phone.
Btw., Timolol's ROM is pretty stable & good on battery - good choice.
dont forget batteries aren't meant to be permanent. they are consumables!
After 1 year of normal usage you should notice the battery isn't quite what it used to be. after 2 years, it will seem like it needs more charges then it did before.
After 3 years and longer, IMO, its just time to replace the battery.
I replace by laptop battery every 2 years (same chemistry as my cellphone battery), and each time I am shocked and how bad the old one was.
New is always better in the case of batteries.
My next point is that HEAT is the main enemy to any battery. Keeping the phone in your pocket or hot car is worse then in a purse or on a table.
Aside from that, theres a ton of good info above about lowering the drain on the battery and therefore increasing its useful life.

dont forget batteries aren't meant to be permanent. they are consumables!

Well unfortunately, I must keep my phone inside my pocket or in a case most of the time since I go to school and I do not want the teachers on my case. And looks like the rapahel likes to run a little hot and I'm really scared for my battery. But at least I have two (one from my old Fuze which only lasted me a month since i broke it :-( )
But yeah, my phone gets warm sometimes, and its with most radios. Some more than others but even with matching rilphone. Not sure what thats all about...
About half a day or so, but that's with me listening to music most of the day and EDGE with Exchange Activesync on.
I used to have crazy battery drain. RRE I got 5 hours tops with 3g on and a bit of internet and texting. NRG synergy rom I got 8-10 hours in GSM mode only with 1 hour of internet and a hand ful of texts.
I just flashed my radio to 1.14.25.05 and flashed the new warhawk NRG rom and I took my phone off the charger at 945am and its currently 5pm and Ive been texting most of the day with 3g on and Im currently at 82% battery. All settings are just as they are set right out the box with a freshly flashed warhawk rom.
Hi I have bought vibrant from ebay and using it for about week now
and it has serious battery problem
first of all
right now i am using official updated 2.2
but even before updating there was battery problem so it;s not 2.2 for sure
so i downloaded app called battery minder which gives me % and how many minutes left on my phone
so here is the problem comes when i fully charge my phone
no wifi, no blue tooth, no gps, data turned on it shows i have about like 6 hrs
and when i turn my wifi on and when it;s connected it says i have 18 hrs or something
and when i just turn my bluetooth on without wifi it gives me like 1 more hr from 6 hr so about 7 or 8
and when i make my phone to airplane mode it gives me 22 hrs or something
and the minutes showing on there it;s pretty accruate
so is there way to fix it? and even if there is way to fix it airplane mode and 22hrs i think that's way too little
or is that supposed to be
i don;t know how other ppls battery is so that's why i am posting here
please please help me
i love the phone but battery is just not right
and my point of view right now i do not think it;s the battery because when i turn my bluetooth on it gives me more hrs...
so please help me
i think longest i used in one day is like 8-9 hrs
when i didn;t really do anything with my phone...
maybe i played with it for like 1 hr maximum...
that's maximum usually 6 hrs or 5...
please please help
oh and i tried pulling my battery out and everything...
factory reset...
one last question if it is the battery if i change my battery get it from ebay or something which one should i get if i get those cheap ebay batteries will it damage my phone?
please help thank you so much
The battery drain was fixed for the Vibrant a few builds back. It should only be draining when your screen is on and you're actually using the phone. You may be expecting too much out of your phone. Those who report 14+ hours of use usually get that because they barely touch their phones all day or use it mostly for texting which takes very little battery life.
Dont rely on battery apps. Just use and enjoy your phone.. If you need, extra batteries are cheap online.
are those cheap batteries good?
will they damage my phone?
i see on ebay that like 3 batteries are like 10 dollars...
is that trustable?
and also i am not trying to expect too much it;s just that
when i turn my bluetooth on i get more hrs and i don;t know it;s just not right to me
and when i didn't use my phone at all i had like 40% after 12 hrs
when my friend uses iphone 4 and had 86%
is that why android sucks so much?
I have 2 ebay batteries and have had no problems with either.
thanks for that comment
i guess i will order but i still can;t figure out this battery problem..
You can try reflashing your ROM. But I really don't see a problem. Your phone has a super amoled screen which eats tones of battery. Being connected to 3g eats more battery than wifi, etc. You may just be expecting too much out of your phone tbh.
but that same for the iphone
my friend and i had class so oviously we couldn;t really use our phones
and after like 12 hrs later
he had 86%
and i had 40%
since i didn;t turn my screen on that much
that means i didn;t use the super amoled
and we both were using 3g
so atleast it should be somewhere near iphone
You can't make a direct comparison like that. Your phone and your friends phone have different operation systems, different amount of processes running, different hardware, and different batteries. Not to mention different signal strength which also effects battery life.
thank you for reply i understand what you are saying but
i just don't know
if it;s like 20 % difference i get it..
but 40%?
even though it;s different phoen and different system
it;s way too much..
you can compare mac and window with same spec
it;s not going to be that much different
40% shows me there is something wrong..
If that's what you wana believe. Maybe you should get an iPhone then.
My raphael really is working really bad last times and unfortunately i wont be able tu buy a new phone for another 2 or 3 months...
Im using energy rom. Dunno if it matters tho.
1.My problem is my raphael battery or something around it. When i charge it to 100% and then just keep it locked in my pocket it will easily last a day or even more. BUT if i only start doing something it will turn off after a few minutes or even SECONDS... What the hell? I cant use it at all... It has been like that for few weeks... But it was perfectly fine before. What's strange , if i turn it on again after some time it will again have some pretty high battery percentage allowing me to do something for another few minutes. Has anyone experienced this? Is it problem with my battery? I do not want to buy a new battery for those 2 months.
2.Is there any way to lengthen the battery live? I have heard something about putting it in the fridge (0.0) but don't remember what exactly...
3.What's the best way to charge my phone by connecting it with usb to PC? In work i cant use my charger.
I've never really had great battery life with any mobile phone. However, I imagine that you can gain a few hours/minutes by disabling the background data. I usually charge up my phone over night and it lasts till I put it back on the charger. However, I have run it down to about 10% a few times.
Well... I don't know what to do... I switched back to manila ROM , changed radio, disabled 3g, wifi, backlight as low as possible... And it didnt really help much...
It's like that. I load it to 100% , hide it in my pocket and it will last from morning to late afternoon if left unused.
But if only i start to use it will turn off by itself after 5(!) minutes... That's not normal i think... The strangest thing is that it started to be like this so suddenly.
I don't know what else to tell you. It does seem rather odd but if you are just going to get another phone anyway, I'd try to tough it out till then. Do you remember exactly when you noticed this behavior? Has anything changed during that time?
Well... my charger broke like few weeks ago and i started chargingmy phone by connecting it to the pc... Could it be the reason?
Is your battery swollen in any way? If it is, that could be the cause of bad battery life.
Come to think of it, one of my batteries seem slightly swollen and even though it is the oldest of my three batteries, it still works on occasion (when I use it). Now on the other hand, I don't constantly charge my phone via laptop. I hearsay, that doing this somehow *may* change the lifespan (possibly behavior?) of the battery. I can't say for certain as I don't usually charge my phone in this manner. Additionally, I try not to continuously charge my battery to 100% (rather 80% is what I look for) and I also try wait till my battery is at least 30% before I put it on the charger. I have read that this is the "optimal way" to charge and discharge your battery (or li-ion batteries anyway).
Perhaps you can try to do this and tell if there is a difference? I almost want to say that even through this, there is a slight chance that you'll notice an increase of battery life but perhaps, it'll be more consistent instead of the rapid discharge. Also, this could be a telltale sign that your battery is on its way out? You might want to keep that USB cord handy in the meantime and try to keep the battery levels between 80 and 30%.

Now when i looked at my battery i see it is REALLY swollen. 0.0 Ehhh anyway, i am changing the phone pretty soon so i dont care that much...
@R^7Z
It's not so easy , you know... It will show 3-4 bars of energy (max is 4, windows 6.1) and it will just turn off... Meh, i am glad im changing it soon
Ah, I forgot you were using a stock ROM and not a custom ROM. So, what do you see when you tap the battery icon/top curtain?
