Falcon Model (XDA 1 with GPS) Info needed. - General Topics

I have just got hold of a NM8FALOCN XDA1 (NZ model) and could do with some information on it.
Mainly to do with the phone side of things. This model does not seem to have a SIM card slot or fit the profiles listed.
Details:
ROM version: 1.52.06 ENG
ROM date: 12/021/03
Radio version: 5500125
Protocol version: AA3.1.50TEST
PRL version: 01021
Running:
Mrcrosoft Pocket PC
Version 4.20.1088 (Build 13126)

A phone with no sim card slot? Have you looked on the right hand side for a rubber flapdoor or if it is xda 2 compatible then under the battery? I see the word "test" under protocol on your phone, maybe it is some kind of test rig.

I have had to strip the unit down to replace a broken digitizer and I have not found the SIM card slot.

If there is no sim slot then the phone is useless to you as a phone but I presume it will work as a pda. I looked up the model and it is supposed to be similar to xda1.

Not a GSM phone
This is a CDMA phone, not GSM. CDMA is used in North America and CDMA phones do not have SIM cards.

Slow phone with one sim

Basically i am currently working in the UAE and am trying to use an Etisalat sim card. Upon inserting to my phone it acts rather slow, gprs logo comes up but it cross hatched rather than solid.
In the UK i know the phone works with all network sims, so it is unlocked. Upon entry into the UAE with a british sim card, it attempted to connect to etisalat for roaming, but this also failed, so i set it to the other national carrier 'du', this works fine.
I assume that this is a radio problem. Currently running 1.10.OliNex
I need to use this Etisalat sim, as its a company simcard. I'd rather be able to abuse the edge/3g on my htc than the monochrome nokia i have been given!
Thanks!
try another radio version
I would try 1.11.25.01

You will also need hard SPL installed before flashing radio.
If you do not have hard SPL already go to thread in link below.

I have roamed on UAE networks with this radio before, let us know how you get on.

[Q] Pre-purchase question

Hi all
I saw in a local shops selling Moto Xoom tablet , the workers and the advertisement saying it is a Wi-Fi only,
I went to the store, I played with it for a bit, the model number MZ600 and it has a SIM Card slot but from the software there is no ( Mobile Network Settings ).
as far as i know if any device have a Wi-Fi only then there is no reason to include a SIM slot in it.
so here are the questions.
1- are all moto-Xoom devices comes with SIM slot and they disable the SIM card internally ?
2- Is there any way to make this SIM slot works ?

1. Yes.
2. No.

1) Yes because the Micro SD Card is also located there.
2) No because there's no 3G modem installed and you will never be able to get the 4G modem install.

[Q] Q] Help - NO Mobile Network with Three UK

I have an unlocked AT&T HTC One XL which has worked flawlessly all over the world - I have just put in a sim card everywhere I have gone and no problems.
Now on returning to UK, I got a Three micro sim card. The voice calls, SMS and Wi-Fi work but not mobile internet. The status bar shows 4G but under settings "Mobile Network" shows "disconnected" even though the button is on. Its driving me mad. I have been to Three website and manually changed the APN but still no luck.
Thanks for any help!

After setting up the APN, make sure it's selected with the green dot on the right side.
More problems

Thanks - unfortunately, I seemed to have created another problem! I thought I'd try the sim card on a different phone. Used a needle in the small hole to unlock the sim card. Nothing happened. The needle went right in! Eventually using it at a slight angle the sim card slot was released.
Now, the phone doesn't recognize the sim card! The screen shows a picture of sim card with a ! - basically no sim card detected.
This phone is such a nightmare.
Any thoughts on a fix?
Joe

The Sim card must be OK as it works on another phone. I have done a soft and a hard reset. Still comes up with No Sim. I have also tried another sim. Still no joy. So, sohow it seems must have damaged the sim socket?

Yes Exad - I damaged the SIM socket.
I bravely took the cover off by following an internet video. I noticed that when the sim card is pushed into the socket, it pushes onto a tiny thin wire that makes contact with another bit of wire to establish a connection. If these wires aren't touching when the sim card is in, the display shows "no sim". I had somehow disturbed this wire when poking around with a needle so that the sim card was in, the wires did not touch. I think I have managed to fix it - may be not for long before it springs out again. Perhaps I can attach it with a bit of solder.
You can't actually test it work until you put the cover back on - because that's where the antennae are. I spent hours trying to work out why it wasn't connecting to 3 and why it was no longer connecting to wi-fi. I mention this in case someone else is silly enough to poke round with a needle and has to take the case off.
Now, back to the original problem of not getting internet. You had it bang on with "After setting up the APN, make sure it's selected with the green dot on the right side." Although I had set up a new APN - it was the green dot that was missing.
Thanks for your help.

Boost 4G LTE C525c conversion to HTC One SV

Hey, so I got this problem with the original HTC one SV (european version with SIM card model) and had to get another logic board. Ordered one from ebay and it has finally arrived. Now the problem is - that this HTC ONE SV from USA is Boost version with 4G LTE and it has no sim card slot, pre-programmed sim card literally inside of the phone. However, I took off the sim reader and unplugged it from the old PCB which is easily done, and replaced it on to the new working PCB. now if I start my phone it will ask for the PIN code, it does recognize the sim card from the other phone sim reader that I have attached, but it does not pick up the signal. And if I go to settings menu in about section it still shows old pre-programmed phone number and not the new one.
How do I go about reprogramming it to EU version official HTC ONE SV? Hope to hear some suggestions.
Thanks

How to activate Dual Sim on SM-N970F?

Has anybody had any luck getting dual SIM cards to work on the SM-N970F.
I bought a dual Sim tray. And have tested the SIM card works in both slots (moved the SIM card first to bottom then to the top slot)... So it looks like the hardware is all there.
I'm thinking there is a firmware toggle / variant that might enable this? The settings panel only shows one IMEI.
If anybody has the SM-970F/DS could you advise what firmware package (CSC and PDA) that is active?
Thanks!
Does the phone show 2 IMEI numbers in "About Phone" via the phones seeing menu?

He did say Quote "The settings panel only shows one IMEI." Most likely he will need to flash via odin non 5G model firmware SM-N975FZKDBTU https://www.sammobile.com/samsung/galaxy-note-10-plus/firmware/SM-N975F/BTU/
Damn, I missed that, sorry.
Flashing firmware won't give you the missing IMEI number., therefore, even though the hardware seems to be there, it won't work.
It's not possible, I looked into it with the Note 8.
Well there's a way but it is not legal to do as it includes assigning an imei number to the second slot.
If you want dual sim just sell your single sim and buy a dual one instead.
Ahh, that's a shame.. I'm kinda interested in the assigning an IMEI to the second SIM slot idea though.
Do you have any information on how this might be achieved?
I'm fairly certain my version isn't 5G capable.
