Outlook notes not syncing with Activesync - General Topics

I used to be able sync outlook notes with my xda2.
Now I cannot.
It says "Attention required" under Notes in the ActiveSync window. When I click on :"Resolve Items..." I get an "Information Type Not Synchronized" Error. With text: "Items of one or more information types cannot be synchronized. Disconnect and reconnect your device. To view all error messages and dialog bozed that require your input, you must connect to this computer via infraren or serial/USB cable."
I DID NOT INSTALL ANYTHING NEW BEFORE IT HAPPENED. The last thing i did besides the usual texting, is write a new task and new alarm note thru Pocket Informant. (My suspect is alarm notes in Pocket Informant.)
Actions I took and results:
1. Reset XDA2 -> Didn't work
2. Restart MS ActiveSync in PC -> same
3. Reset XDA2 and restarted PC -> same
4. Uninstalled ActiveSync and installed ver 3.8 -> same
5. Detect and Repair Outlook -> same
6. Scanpst -> same
Questions:
1. Has anyone encountered this?
2. What was your solution save a hard reset?
Thanks.

dunno if it's the same for you but i had duplicates in outllooks calendar that caused an error so worth a check ,but it's probably not that ....only trying to help

Don't know how many notes you have...try creating a new notes folder in Outlook. Temporarily move all of your notes there.
Syncing should work.
Move the notes back eithe rone at a time or in small batches...syncing after each move.
This should help you pin down a bad record. Once you find it, just recreate the note (copy and paste works fine).

One time the unplug and reconnect worked for me.
The next time I unplugged and moved the notes to a location that does not sync. I reconnected and it cleared. I then moved the whole folder of notes back and they sync'd fine.
Update: I set a song to be my ringtone and it was copied to \My Documents\My ringtone folder. Activesync cannot sync the ringtone file since it is "in use" by the phone software. I moved the ringtone to \windows\ringtones and the sync error stopped.

Pocket Outlook 2003 hast gone Kaputt !

I have a strange problem here, haven't seen it mentioned yet on the forums.
Calendar: creating and editing appointments gives "An unexpected error has occurred in this program".
Tasks: when I create a new task, it appears OK, but if I close and restart Tasks, the changes vanish! When I tick-off a task, I get the error "No program memory available".
Contacts: creating or editing contacts gives "No program memory available"
I am able to view entries without problems, but completely unable to create or edit...
There is plenty of memory available, 25MB storage + 50MB program. All other applications working ok, including Notes.
I have guessed that the problem might be in the Outlook databases.
I have tried:
1. Soft reset - no change
2. Restoring ROM backup - no change
3. Deleting the ActiveSync partnership and overwriting the device databases - no change
4. Hard reset - fixes the problem, But comes back as soon as I restore from ActiveSync backup. Sadly the only backups I kept were after the problem arose.
5. Deleting the Outlook databases using PHM PowerToys - but half of them I couldn't get rid of because "another application was using them", though apparently nothing else was running. Deleting the ones I could gave no change.
I DON'T want to do a hard reset and start again from scratch, because I lose a lot of data that will be hard to restore. E.g. a few very important progs that I haven't got the installers for, my SMS messages, the phone call history + timers, GPRS and network settings, and a huge number of program configurations, including photo contacts database, transcribe settings etc. (don't know of a way to back these things up).
I have an XDA2 (Himalaya/xscale/128MB) running PocketPC Windows Mobile 2003 Phone Edition. Please help! :x
Forgot to mention, I am able to create items on Desktop Outlook and sync them across. (I'm using ActiveSync 3.7.1)
I have also tried ScanPST.exe on Desktop Outlook, which finds no problems.
Not sure if it help, but I would recommend to export the files from Outlook on the PC, then delete Contact, Calendar and Tasks on the PC and synchronize - which should delete the data on the XDA as well. Then re-import the data on the PC from the exported files and sync again...

Caledar Synhronisation

I have an XDA. Recently, the battery wore down and I had to reinstall everything and also synchronise the calendar from a PC. However, I notice that, although all 2004 and 2005 appointments are all there on the PC - Outlook - all 2004 appointments have gone from the XDA. How can I put them back. I would like everything on the PC to be exactly the same as the XDA.
Perhaps I am not viewing them correctly. I have noticed that recurring appointments like birthdays are still there from 2004 but not all the appointments I put in.
Thanks.
open pc activesync
click the tools menu
choose option
choose the rules tab
click on the dropdown box called desktop
pick the "always replace the items on the pc"
The items are on the PC - I do not want to replace them.
I want to take the items from the PC and put them on the PDA. I am sure they are on the PDA already but I can't view them.
just go in and look for yourself
you can pick the reverse
so your pc will always have what your pda have
It's okay - I had the XDA set to synchronise only the previous two weeks appointments - now I have set it to synchronise all of them!
Thanks for your help anyway!

Activesync 4.1 errors

Hi,
I just updated to ROM1.60c and ActiveSync 4.1 build 4807. When I try to sync, Activesync keeps giving me the error code 85010014.
The funny thing is, there's no problem syncing Notes from Outlook. But the other Outlook items such as Contacts, Calendar and Tasks are unable to sync.
What's happening? Does anyone else have the same problem? Why Notes is ok, but not the rest?
Any help is appreciated, thanks!

Had the same problem after upgrading to WM5. If you use offline folders, make sure Outlook is connected to your Exchange Server, they try to sync your PDA. It takes a little while to sync Contacts and Calendar the first time, but afterwards you can "Work Offline" and sync everything successfully.
If it doesn't work, I would start with a new partnership.... delete previous computer partnerships from AS on your PDA and also delete PDA Partnership in AS on your PC.
There's also a few other posts here that refer to performing a "Repair" of the Outlook 2003 installation and another that says to uninstall and re-install Office 2003 all together. I tried the "Repair" (in Help Menu of Outlook) and it didn't work... I wasn't about to re-install my Office.... Luckily I found my solution through further digging on the Internet.
Good luck! Let us know the results.

Hi kcchen,
It works! What happened was that I had installed AS 4.1 at home over the weekend. On Monday I came to office, sync and suddenly it works! Never knew that it was becoz of Exchange...
Thanks for the great help. Next, to solve the problem with insufficient ROM...too much for programs, not enough for storage.
Thanks again buddy
Glad it worked for you! I was pretty frustrated with the error also...
where do you get ActiveSync 4.1
mine is ActiveSync 4.00.4343
can you give me the link for ActiveSync 4.1
thx
search goes a long way

I solved my ActiveSync problem with Error 85010014.
I also run Eudora and Incredimail Plugin for Outlook on both PCs, Work and Home. Both are on XP Pro SP2 and when I installed ActiveSync 4.1 on my work PC without issue, I decided to attack my Home PC Outlook installation to see if I could resolve the issue.
So, At home:
Putting Outlook in Offline mode did not solve the problem.
I uninstalled ActiveSync 4.0 and installed ActiveSync 4.1 - No difference.
I backed up Outlook via 3rd party program to grab account settings as well as my 2GB pst file then ran Help->Detect and Repair... - reboot, no difference.
I then ran Control Panel -> Add or remove Programs -> Office 2003 and chose to modify my installation by adding or removing components. I unchecked Outlook and updated it to remove Outlook from my Office 2003 suite. Then returned to this option and re-checked Outlook to add it back to my Office 2003 Suite, CD-Rom in hand but updating, it did not ask for the Office 2003 Install CD-Rom... - Rebooted and connected - Bingo NO 85010014 error!

Help. Pocket Outlook Database is broken

Hello,
I've a great problem. I used PocketInformant and made a new appointment. Then my PDA (HTC Trinity) freezed. I made a softreset and after this lots of programs could not be started.
But the greatest problem is that all my PIMs (appointments, contacts...) are away. When I want to open Contacts I get a Error Message: Cannot logon to the the Pocket Outlook Database .
What can I do now? I know that all data is stored at the pim.vol . Are there any programs where I can read out this file?
It hasn't to be comfortable. I just need to see my appointments so that I can write them manually down at my Outlook on PC.

Please Help - Exporting information from PPC to Desktop Outlook

I'm pretty new to ppc's, so this may be a dumb question....
Recently the Outlook server at my office crashed and the guys at work had to format the whole thing. Now the Outlook on my desktop is basically empty, and I thought I could just sync my ppc and get all the contacts and calendar entries etc back to the desktop.
But when I tried, it says "there's been a change made on your server that requires you to re-synchronize all items on your device. You may lose changes made since your last successful synchronization. Support code: 8600050d"
If I click "Yes" to continue, it'll wipe everything from my ppc. I've already selected the option for "If there's a conflict: Replace item on desktop".
What can i do?
I'm using HTC Touch Dual, and running Windows XP....Thanks....
I've seen this error when there is a time difference between the PPC and Outlook, as a result of traveling. In your case, is probably due to the server crash. You can try deleting the AtiveSync partnership and then create a new one. AS will ask you to select which info to keep, i.e. Outlook -> PPC, Combine PPC and Outlook or PPC -> Outlook. Just select the PPC overwrites Outlook at that point. HOWEVER, I don't know how will it handle PPC emails in subfolders (that is, will it create the subfolder structure in Outlook?). So, just to be save, do a PIM backup on the PPC before you try anything. Good luck.
PS,
Also, your IT guys should have a kept a backup!!! Or at least, setup your Outlook to use a PST file on your computer to store the information.
Thank you very much, it worked after I deleted the ActiveSync partnerships.
