I'm was curious to know it it is possible to listen to the local fm radio. I downloaded a program called "mobile GX P3kit" which shows that it is receiving a signal, but was uncertain how to turn that into music.
An suggestions greatly appreciated.
Quick look here and I found the below...
http://www.mobilegx.com/ppc/p3kit/p3kit.html
It shows REALTIME Radio Signal Strength from your PDA screen. It is tested on O2 XDA, but should work on other similar platform like i-mate, T-Mobile etc.

Does any of you feel this? Once a while, I can see that the the network operator will change to "Searching" then "Home Network" and then back to my service provider's name. Sometime, it happens when I am receiving a call, and the call will be dropped and will be considered a missed call. The other party will think that my phone ran out of battery as they are directed to the voicemail.
I also have this problem, sometimes when I call out, the ringing tone that I hear is distorted, this is not the speaker problem as even with loudspeaker, the sound its the same, the tone pitch is high and distorted, even when the other party speaks, their voice are distorted and high pitch. It's like when you play a DVD movie with fast speed, the speech becomes "cartoon-ish"
The problem resolves only if I reboot my phone, does this got to do with my phone or the radio ROM?
Even after reflashing the phone with the same original firmware, the problem persist. Another friend of mine using the same phone which he bought together with me complained the same problem at times.
FYI, I am using Dopod 577w installed with AKU2 patch
ROM version : 2.0.11.0
Operator version : 2.5.39.2
Radio version : 4.1.13.15_02.29.01
i get this too
ive put it down to just crap radio rom on the stock aku2 update from vodafone
which one do you get, the line dropping or the distorted sound when calling ?
yea i thought it was just me having this crazy thing going on... the carrier changes to display "HOME SERVICE" the back to its name... tho i never experienced it the call dropping and stuff...
carrier changes just before a call or txt msg
doesnt drop though
Try radio 2.61.01. On my Qtek8310 I install this radio and have no such kind of problem like you have.
I've attached an older radio version. I am using this with rom version 2.0.9.0. The radio that came with that ROM didn't seem to work well (had similar problems to what you describe, and others), at least in the US with Cingular service. This radio, (1.14.00) seems to do quite well. I am trying to extract the radio ROM from the latest cingular 2125 ROM (2.0.13.0), but haven't had any luck.

By the way - PLEASE, reload this file to other service! iFolder, slil, ets...
What about some of the latest radio ROMS? going backward doesnt seem right ot me
Any stable and good radio rom? What do you guys think about the Radio rom from QTEK -radio 2.61.01
and btw, what's the difference between Operator version and Radio version as in my first post?

Works fine! But - still testing
Your link is null
zyldenGL--good question!! I have no idea what ROM it was from originally, but it works great.
karhoe--I tried the link that I posted, and it works.
I am having an issue where the person I call states that I sound like I'm calling them from the space shuttle. I had someone call me on a landline from my MDA and it actually does sound like a NASA shuttle call.
I've applied the registry edit for AUDIOGAIN:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\AUDIOGAIN]
"EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME"=hex:CC
"RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME"=hex:CC
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\AUDIOGAIN0]
"EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME"=hex:CC

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\AUDIOGAIN1]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\AUDIOGAIN2]

The problem is present with handset, BT headset, and wired headset. Anything else I should be looking at? I'm on TMO USA, but I roam on AT&T and EinsteinPCS. Problem crosses all networks. The only thing I haven't tried yet is putting an AT&T sim in and see if it's still there. I don't really think that would be the problem since I can put my sim in my Nokia 6230 and it sounds fine.
Running mfrazzz's XM6r2a. Original TMO 2.26.10.2 has same result. Tried 2.19, 2.25 (TMO OEM), 2.40, 2.69 radios. 2.25 seems the best of them all for me. Signal sucks, but call quality is about the best.
Any direction would be appreciated!
yo
dude that's like an added bonus no? you can use that to your advantage say you've went into the space program
seriously though i've tried them all (i'm on ATT) and I stick to 2.25 here in the middle of the USA, I get full bars just about everywhere, i've no doubts that each radio rom has different traits with physical location as well.
Sorry, forgot to mention that when I do have full bars in major cities, the sound quality does not improve.
same problem with me... any ideas?

Can you elaborate a little more on "YOUR" situation. ROM version, radio version, what you have done...
Went back to original TMO 2.26.10.2 and problem disappears. Copied audiogain settings and went back to XM6r2a. Still no go. I am using the same radio, 2.25.11 as in the TMO 2.26.10.2.
Is there a thread about all the reg keys that deal with the phone/radio?
When I search on phone & radio, it brings up everything but what I'm looking for.
Moderators: Is there a way to have the system not search signatures? Many users have "Radio:" in their signature and it seems like it is pulling on that also. I have been searching each sub-forum individually and it seems like I'm getting at least 1000 hits per search. Also, I show posts, not threads. Thanks!

Have you tried having someone call you on a land line to see if it's just quiet, warbly, or cut's in and out?

what I tried was call my mobile from a land line and put some comversation with good resulst in quiet emviroment but when the place was noise i cant hear a thing
Same problem here. The most frustrating part is the audio on my end sounds fine and is intermittent on the recipients end. Friends tell me it's so bad I should throw out my cheap phone! I've tried 2.19, 2.25 and 2.69 with various 6.0 roms (XDA, TNT, Black Diamond and others) applied Cingular radio hacks and still have the problem. I had to send back the phone for an unrelated reason and it's the same with the replacement. It doesn't seem to be signal strength related and can come and go during a conversation. I don't think it happens with the stock rom but it's so painful to use I've only had it loaded for a few hours. Went back to 2.25 and applied the audiogain hacks above. Will let you know how it goes.
Problem solved... at least for me
Going through the registries of both TMO 2.26.10.2 and 5.2.318's, I found that the GSM codec is being replaced with MSG711. I'm assuming Microsoft's implementation of G.711, probably to support VOIP as well. Since I pulled VOIP when I customized mfrazzz's rom, it's not a concern for me.
I'm assuming that the people who aren't having problems are on a completely EDGE network, where I'm still on many GPRS towers. I don't think that directly has an implication; however, I'm sure providers have greater bandwidth going to towers that handle EDGE, thus the EDGE tower is less likely to go to full capacity, and can handle extra bandwidth.
GSM Codec: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-GSM+Codec
G.711 Codec: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/G.711
Below are the reg fixes that helped me. I flashed TMO 2.26.10.2, then my modified mfrazzz, then applied the reg fixes. Echoing and Deathstar-spaceshuttle voice on the other end has disappeared, and I only had one bar with radio 2.25.11. Haven't tried other radio's yet, and not sure I will for a little while until I know this solved the problem.
Hope this helps!
Reg Fixes:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\07]
"Hnd"=dword:0003EBC0
"Name"="ACM1:"
"Key"="Drivers\\BuiltIn\\CODEC_GSM610"
"BusParent"=dword:00032400
"InterfaceType"=dword:00000000
"BusName"="BuiltInPhase1_0_43_0"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\CODEC_GSM610]
"Flags"=dword:00000002
"Order"=dword:00000000
"Index"=dword:00000001
"Dll"="gsm610.acm"
"Prefix"="ACM"
looks like it work, i just chang the registry like you say and i think that works
im going to reflash the phone and see what the other people say
tks a lot
*** IMPORTANT NOTE ***
In the reg key: [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\Active\07]
07 is the location under Active where it sits for "ME" after loading my modified mfrazzz and using radio 2.25.11 that's there from the TMO 2.26.10.2 original install. When I applied 2.69.11 for testing, it moved to 02. It moved the contents completely; however, if you apply the reg fix and it's not at 07, it won't solve your problem.
Good rule of thumb would be to check this registry entry manually to verify its location, make any adjustments if needed, then run the fix.
hi,
i've a big big problem. i made the official upgrade to WM6.1 for my tytn II (italian) but once finished it was set under HSDPA. I disabled HSDPA and i turned to 3G.
with the old rom (official wm6) i disabled 3G by setting GSM following this path:
Comm manager -> options -> phone -> banda (i don't know the english translation, i think is band). under that panel i selected GSM and the phone turned to GSM, with G icon in the home screen
if i do the same thing with the new rom the phone freeze, and 10-15 seconds after a message says: cant switch band, try later.
i tried many times but the problem remains, i also tried to install the rom update again and again.
can you help me? 3G doesn't work fine where i live, so it's important to set GSM
someone told me that changing the radio rom (it has the original one) can solve the problem, can you give me some advice?
thanks
Same thing happened to me, restarted and tried again and it worked.

different radios yeild different signal strengths depending on location. try different wm6.1 radios and see if there is one that gives you better connection strength. go here for a list of radios:

ps. at home (Nottingham, uk) i get a minimal signal and at work in large building i struggle to even get a remote signal at all

Best thing to do is to report the problem to HTC support, so we can get a hotfix.

Could not get any radio stations with the supplied headphones plugged in.
Tried using my big headphones with a 3m lead.
Picked up all stations crystal clear. All well and good, but hardly practical to carry them round with me when out and about

Hello
after several posts with Customer Support of HTC and with full and yes full explaining exactly this problem with auto scan, I get this answer
=============================
Thank you for contacting HTC ,
Dear Mr. *****,
Regarding the issue you're facing with the handset, kindly follow the instructions below:
Kindly confirm that you have followed the instructions below to save the channels:
To save FM stations as presets
1. Tune in to the desired FM frequency, and then tap Presets.
2. On the Presets list, tap that appears on the desired preset number where you want to save the FM station.
Tip Tap to remove a favorite FM station from the list.
3. When done, tap OK.
To listen to a preset FM station
On the FM Radio screen, tap the station preset button. If the station preset button is not on the screen, tap Presets, scroll through the list of preset stations, and then tap the station you want to listen to.
If you've followed the steps above and still the issue persists, please perform the troubleshooting below:
1) Kindly Check if the device has enough Free Memory to run (at least 5MB)
Please go to : Start> Settings> Menu> All settings>System> Memory,
If there is less than 5 MB free in each category, you need to free up some memory by removing files from the device or by shutting down programs that are not actively in use.
To Free up the program memory
Please go to : Start> Settings> Menu> All settings>System > Task manager> Stop All.
Free up the Storage memory
Please go to : Start> Setting> Menu> All settings>System tab> Managed Programs. Remove programs.
Once memory has been freed up, kindly re-test.
2) Please check if this issue has occurred after using any 3rd party applications. If yes, please remove the 3rd party software and retest the device.
3) Kindly perform a Soft reset to the handset by removing the back cover and pressing the reset button.
Incase any of the troubleshooting above doesn’t solve the issues you’re facing with your device kindly perform the following:
Please backup all data on the device by synchronizing to a computer, My phone application, or using a data backup program using a memory card, afterwards, perform the Cold-boot (Hard-Reset) and retest the device.
To perform a Hard Reset:
3. Start>Settings>Security>Factory data reset
4. Press 1234 and press yes
Caution: this process will erase all the information from the phone memory
=========================
and that is the solution, don't use auto scan because there is no auto scan with some devices
any suggestion
FM radio...
In Switzerland, everything's fine.
But I'm searching for another FM radio tuner (free of course) to replace the poor native that comes with HD2. Before I was using Power Radio on Blackstone but with Leo it doesn't work.
Does anyone know a good FM Radio (not Internet) for my little (I mean giant !) Leo ?

thanks and sorry for posting here
Hi, I'm too new here, but really need help for my LG optimus net (p690b), running 2.3.4 stock, anyone has the FM radio.apk for this?
The phone is brand new, stock 2.3.4 but without the FM radio app, software version v10i from virgin mobile, didnt change anything yet. Knowing most people who have this usually have FM radio even on stock, just need an apk if someone can help... well, ... me too new here.
It dose have internet radio and will cost your data plan,but that is not i want.
Tried Spirit FM radio already with no luck, the FM receiver did catch signal well as you can see it from the screen, but however there is no audio no matter how u adjust the audio setting
Thanks!
