Hi people
Does any one know about a USB driver for the S100, That alow us to access
a pen, or a mini usb harddisk,or for that matter any PC withoutActiveSync,I know that there are some software like on Dejepocketpc, but there is nothing especific for the jam. did anyone try this software, or something alike? every one is crazy about the bigest sd they can get, hell i want a 40GB DISK to put in my pocket  ! any remarks?
Hi jonycarlos,
according to everything I read on this topi c (and this was a lot :wink, this won't work because our little Magician doesn't support USB host mode (which is needed to access USB storage devices).
If you search for "USB Host" in this forum, you'll get more info.
HTH,
BGK
Maybe if you get a bluetooth disk that supports the FTP profile...
Toshiba HopBit
This portable, Bluetooth HDD lets your Bluetooth-equipped device (e.g., laptop, PDA) access 5gb of data (stored on an internal 1.8" HDD) wirelessly. On a fresh battery, the Toshiba Hopbit can stand by for 200 hours and spin/transmit for 6 hours. Its range is approximately 5 meters. It can also transmit data via USB 1.1 interface. The Hopbit measures 110x70x22mm and weights 180 grams.

HARDWARE
Yes , I was afraid of that , I guess that it ain't gonna be with software.. how about some hardware? some kind of SDIO card that alows this conection, or some other kind of contraption that pluged to the jam ,coadjuvaded by some software, could make this work? what do u think?
the bluethoot idea is actualy great, but there is a but, for 5 GB it ain't worth it
I already can get a 4 GB sd card on any FNAC store back here in portugal. very pertinent any way.
the bigest wish I have on this earth is to handle 20 GB + on my S100 PLEASE HELP ME !

I went online to FNAC in Portugal - they don't stock a 4GB SD card. Where can you get one?
fnac portugal site is not very god. they still have 4 and 2 GB SDcards do. I supose they should have it in the U.K. to . try in a diferent store, here in some stores they do not have access to these cards nor have the information that they exist , don't understand why , but is like that.

I just bought Xda II a few months ago and i love it ! The problem is, i just realize that i have problems with my storage card. I'm using kingston 256 mb sd card, and it sucks. The processing is very slow from and to it. My question is, what brand is the best brand for storage card ? How about the capacity, is there any limitation ? As i heard from someone, the storage card capacity for Xda II can't be more than 256 mb, is this true ? And the last, are there any differences between mmc and sd card ? Which one should i use ? Thanx in advance...
storage card
Hi, testimo.
i have and used sandisk 512 mb (blue color), is worked fine to me, my friend in Surabaya have sandisk 1 gb, not complain untill now.
my opinion, pda, no need fast storage card, except digital camera, but if you want to fast speed, you can try sandisk ultra II. (the best brand depent on you)
better using sdcard than mmc.
hope this help.
thanks
im using kingmax 1GB SD,brought from singapore last month, work perfect, much better than my old 256 MB scandisk SD.
is it ok to run programs and software from the storage card or will it run slow? because i might be getting a 1gig mmc card but if its not worth using it to run applications on i wont bother getting it.
Thanks
i install about 25 games + 5 software in my 1GB SD,no problem at all.
i think kingmax is the best...fastest speed, water proof, life time waranty.
hi all i have 12 XDA 2 under the Qtek brand. And i have had stupid amounts of issues with sd cards. i have gone though over 30 of em.
im using the latest firmwares and im usign them for tomtom 3.09 and email attachments.
but i keep getting the SD cards dying. do most users find this normal?
i had a sandisk 256MB with my xda1 and that never gave any problems but were a bit slow
with my xda2 i had a 128MB sandisk card also slow
now i have a kingston 512 elite pro and it's fast and ok
never had a sd card die in any device
but sd cards have limited writes before they die but they have 1000's of writes before that
i have had many SD cards varing from dane elec. Viking. and kingston.
all of these are 512k and not (hi speed) just standard. but i hav e had to send so many back for completly dying. my supplier thinks i eat them or something
odd maybe there is something wrong with your xda so it gives them too much power or something
you mean 512MB right ?
Try Kingston. Mines a 256mb and I haven't had any problems at all. TomTom is fast (both version 3 & 5) and never had any die on me
I've also had a 256MB Kingston, which has been faithful in my XDA 2i.
I thought ok, time to get bigger, so put in a 1GB Toshiba, followed by a 512MB Toshiba.
Both of which are now DEAD!
90 quid, Mwaa... Bye bye!
I tend to agree with RudeGar - I would imagine that the HTC manufacturers didn't want the extra cost of a variable regulator to power the SD card, so if it negotiates a lower voltage, they are not able to supply it...
Linux just reports "block read error" when trying to access a dead card, Windoze hangs!
Anyone found a way around this problem?
Cheers,
Richard.
My 256 meg sd card today passed away, it was a viking I think and it contained my tomtom program and maps. I am glad it didnt happen while travelling as I get lost easily, anyway it has now gone to silicone heaven and I am heartbroken.
Anybody got a any cheap replacements :?:
My Kingston 256 MB is OK too, but now I'm very leery of upgrading to higher capacity... :?
yess it is
oh yes it is
dunno if this will help anyone, but i started with a regular sandisk 128mb, then upgraded to a sandisk ultra II 256, then a kingmax (not kingston!) platinum 512mb, then now a toshiba 1gb. All this on my xda2.
all have been fine except one time where i had a problem with the kingmax platinum, but i suspect that was because i dumped it in a card reader, and did some major transferring in and out of large files (movies, etc). Soon it would show a greatly reduced capacity in both my xda and card reader. Got cnetx's flash format, fixed & formatted it, and now it's fine, though i've since moved it to my digicam, and now use the toshiba 1gb.
I had a Toshiba 512 SD which completely died within a week now I have a Kingston 512 MMC+ had it a month and still going strong and very fast.
sd cards...
Hi all, I've got a maxell 128mb and a Panasonic pro high speed 512mb. My Maxell gave me a bit of a scare when i had my Xda2. All my data was wiped off !!! I inserted the card the one day and it was as empty as the day it was born. Took it back to Dixons and that was not much help. They said i can send it away to try and retrieve my lost data.
I cut my losses and formatted the card on my PC. No probs since
I am now using both cards in my xda2i and i've had no data loss.(touch wood)
I have been using 128 and 256 Ridata cards for 3 years without any problems. Also I have used a 512 Astone for the past 9 months for movies also without incident.
I always keep my spare ones inside a case and don't expose them to direct sunlight. They may be tough critters but you can damage them if they are mistreated.
MMC or SD
I have an XDA IIi (Well the Qtek version of it) and am going to get a memory card in the order of 512Mb for it. There seems theres been a lot of bother been had with the SD cards. Has anyone had any problem eith MMC's? Are there any disadvantages to using MMC cards (speed etc)? Can anyone reccomend a cheap SD card at this size that they have had no problem with? Cheers
Tom
Hi all, I just want confirmation that the universal using Beasty & Laurentius 2.08.01 ROM can handle 4GB and 8GB SDHC cards before I go ahead and buy one. I am currently using a 2GB SD card with no problems but obviously would like to have bigger SD(HC in this case), card available.
Thanks and hopefully you guys can let me know.
Works perfect

Internal Read/Write speed is good.
But USB hdd mode terrible slow ( with SDHC cards )
I guess this come from USB 1.1 transfer capacity and speed limitations. ( I've forgot about Read/write buffers, Changing buffer may give damage the device Beasty or Laurentius has said that in a thread. )
Actually USB 1.1 has 42 mbps transfer rate ( SDHC Class 12 cards have 12~48 mbps ) but not in sale at this moment. Currently class 6 in shops ( 6 ~ 24 mbps )
I'm currently using SDHC cards and there is no problem.
Except : Device get small freezings while watching High resolution and high bitrate encoded videos ( 640*480 etc.. )
At the end.
Big storage good for more multimedia.
Note:I've not tried B & L 's latest rom yet . but I Think SDHC driver is same and come from one of Guru of Rom Masters mamaich and I always believe his works.Hopefully it's works for you too..
Thanks for info.
Hi there, thanks a lot for the info, I use my Universal primarily for GPS (I have both TOMTOM and iGo installed) so I just want to be able to put more maps without having to erase any of them when I go back to america. Thanks again for the info, I will be looking into buying an 8GB SDHC card now.
i've recently got my hands on a VOX/s710 phone
my last phone before this used micro SD cards, it was a nokia
when i try to put my nokia micro SD into my VOX, it doesnt recognize, but, as soon as i put it on a nokia, other phones like a palm, etc, it recognizes
is there a problem between nokia branded micro SD cards with HTC?
i tried another brand of micro SD and it worked perfectly
any ideas?
cheers
Initially I tried a NOKIA micro SD card with my Vox and it worked fine.
hum, tks for the reply
so no clues at what the problem might be?
guess if i dont resolve this, ill have to buy another micro SD card
May be, you give a try by formatting the card using a card reader from a Windows PC. That might help.
Yes, make a backup and format to FAT32 (also useful if you want to flash from sd card)! Then put your files back on the card and try again!
thanks for the tips
fortunately, i dont have any indispensable information on the microSD card, i didnt use it a lot, since it was a 1G card, and i had a 2G on my older nokia.
i'm going to try and format it and then post the result hopefully it will work
but since i dont have a memory card reader right now, im gonna try and put it on my old nokia, connect it to the pc and try to format it from there, or format it from inside the nokia phone.
ill figure out something
thanks again for the tips
cheers

tks for the tip tryed it right now, and now its working fine
many thanks both of you for the help!
I have 2 GB microsd card installed. Is it possible to install a 4Gb card or more? Who tried? Does it support SDHC?
Funny thing, I've got an answer from htc support, they say 2Gb is the only possible amount supported

I dont know exactly how to do it search the forum, but i know that there is a thread that says that partion 4gb (using WM5torage that thread tells how to) and then you can use it.
the vox supports SDHC microSD up to 8Gb, found this in www.pocketpc.ch (will post the link l8 when back on my pc).
i'm using a sandisk SDHC 4Gb fat32 formatted, works perfect! i will buy a 8Gb soon and post the results here .

remembered to post this note, after fomarting the sd card, it worked well
just another question though, you guys are talking about 4 and 8 gigs sd cards
doesnt having a much bigger sd card slow down the phone? i've heard of such rumours but never got the chance to tested myself, and since i'm willing to make a sd upgrade i would like to know if its better to stick with a 1 gig or 2 gigs sd card, or i can go ahead and get a 4 or 8 gigs?
cheers
so, finally i bought this fine 8Gb microSDHC from sandisk, and i works just perfect.

i never tried with a 1 or 2Gb card, so there i cannot say. but on the otherhand i did not remark an diffrence of speed with the 4 or 8Gb card, they're just as fast as usual (in cellular device or in pc with cardreader). the only thing i can say, is that cards from cheap(er) brands are always slower than cards from quality brands (such as sandisk, as example). and also SDHC cards should always be faster than 1 or 2Gb cards, because they have a newer controllers (not 100% sure about this point, i think i might have read that in c't).
i hope i could help a little bit...
Dang, 8GB cards work without driver patching? That is champion. I'll be ordering myself one soon.
Yep, can confirm 8gb card works fine, have had one in mine for some months now...
Now what about 16gb? was that article written before 16's were available even the sandisk site seems to be out of date saying nokias that are supposed to support 16's only support 8?
anyone actually confirmed 16's don't work?

i guess we have to wait some time to test it
at work, some weeks ago, i discussed this with a dev. and he meant that from the hardware side it should be no problem, but maybe the driver needs to be updated. i'm not sure, but as i know the driver adds support for sdhc, no matter of the size of the card. he's not a sys dev, he does apps and branding, i'm only test-ex and advanved user, so correct me if i'm wrong (i'm still learning ).
edit: found following on http://www.wisegeek.com/what-are-sdhc-cards.htm
The new 2.00 specification should last a bit longer, as it allows SDHC cards to reach a maximum capacity of 32GB.
Click to collapse
so i think, if the device supports that specification (and the vox does), it should support cards up to 32Gb.
and again some info about speed:
The SDHC specification 2.00 calls for cards to be classified according to the minimal sustained DTS as follows:
Class 2: minimum sustained DTS of 2MB/sec
Class 4: minimum sustained DTS of 4MB/sec
Class 6: minimum sustained DTS of 6MB/sec
SDHC cards are classified to guarantee a specific sustained DTS. This potentially saves consumers money, as flash cards are priced not only according to capacity, but also to speed. For example, if a product's maximum DTS is 2MB/sec, dishing out extra cash for Class 4 or Class 6 SDHC cards would be a waste of money. Conversely, devices that can utilize the 4MB/sec or 6MB/sec DTR (i guess the author meant DTS, kel187) will perform significantly better with Class 4 or Class 6 SDHC cards, respectively.

my 4Gb card is Class 2 and my 8Gb is Class 4. i did not recognized any diffrences in speed advantages, neither on the mobile nor on the pc. so the vox and my cardreader must be class 2 devices, what a pitty ^^

corrupted my 8GB Sandisk Ultra II after 3 days of use.
The card could be read INSIDE of my Raphael but not on my PC with different card readers. This would be a minor problem but my Raphael also destroyed randomly files on the card too.
I thought the Micro SDHC Card was defective and send it back.
Now I own a Sandisk 16GB Card and it got also courrupted in like 2 days of use.
Some file from my *Notes* was thrashed and other files followed.
Raphael will try to open the file and then stay busy. After like 20 seconds a message containing "There is not enough memory " pop up... (150MB free ram should be enough to open a 2 kb Notes-file )
Wierd thing -> My *old* Sandisk 6 GB MicroSDHC Card I own for more than half a year now works flawlessly... (Till yet )
Someone here got the same experiences ?
Someone got some advice for me ?
I read something about updated SD sdrivers from member Tucan which he cooked into a german stock rom. Are they any good for me ?
Is there a Rom which should solve my problems ?
Help will be really appreciated !!
im sorry but the new memory you have must be fake, that explains why it works with your old mem, and why after sending it back, the same place sent you another fake.
Oh lord here we go, I just ordered my 8gb MicroSDHC card from newegg since the Fuze will be out soon I hope this isn't a common problem.
I corrupted my 8GB once, but by my own fault. I was in the middle of a transfer and was connected as a hard drive, not through activesync, and hit the power button which disconnected it from the computer. I hooked it up as a hard drive again, went into windows and reformatted the MicroSD... No issues from then on.

I ordered both cards from completly different places, so that is unlikely.
They did work normaly (some days) even on my PC, so I guess it is my Raph which corrupted them

I´m always *releasing* my harddrives/cards (on my PC) with the icon in the lower right corner to be save from what you experienced.
Oh man. I have the 16GB Card sitting here and cant use it... I will try it in my old XDA Trion (aka Hermes) for the next days ...
Anyway thanks for your replys !
Someone else has some thoughts about the problem ?
Maybe it has something to do with all the powersaving *features* beeing enabled through -Advanced Config 3.2- and -Diamond Tweak- ?
Well I'm using the same rom as you and was using an 8gb Sandisk card until I got a 16gb Sandisk card and both work flawlessly I'm afraid. I have also applied the power saving tweaks you mention with no ill effect.
using 8gb for about a month now, no problems at all.
Oh, I should mention I've heard many people talk about how there were a lot of Tilts that corrupted MicroSD cards. It was a flaw from the factory, apparently affected a number of them. I wouldn't be surprised of HTC saw some of the same issues with the Fuze, knowing all of the issues they've had already.
My 8gb card works just fine.
For reference, I'm using an A-DATA Class-6 8gb microSD purchased from NewEgg. Cheap, fast, reliable, perfect.
16gb bog standard San Disk Micro SD is working fine at the moment.
Formatted using Panasonic's SD Formatter as I corrupted it before I even put it in the Pro.
my 8GB works fine too
Maybe if everybody posts the brand name of their cards we can determine if this has something to do with the issues.
I remember with my Hermes I had to get a specific brand and produced from a certain plant to not have any issues. I still have my Kingston Micro SD from the Japan plant with no issues.
Using 8Gb and 16Gb of Sandisk with no probs on my Touch Pro.
Hi,
I may be barking up the wrong tree here but are you sure you have not enabled the Encryption setting under Settings. This will encrypt the storage card so it can only be read from the phone. Removing the card and placing in a PC or Laptop would show up as corrupted.
I selected it by mistake once and it corrupted my folder tree and showed garbage.
Not saying this is what is up but is worth looking at.
Personally I have a 16GB SanDisk card in my Touch Pro and it been OK. Been running for about 3 weeks now.
John
maybe the cardreaders from youre PC are not compatible with sdhc.

Sandisk. Always. Forever. For my memory cards at least
FYI...
I put a 16Gb Sandisk in my TP on monday (5 days ago)... not a single problem with it and no corrupted files either.
I was previously using my 4Gb Sandisk card from my old Kaiser... which also worked perfectly fine.
Had a Sandisk 8GB card in mine, no problems. Now have a 16GB Sandisk, no problems.
For me I'll buy Sandisk, and only Sandisk, for my memory cards.
I have the very chip you described in my kaiser (class 6 a-data 8gb) runs without a problem. I've never really had much problems with microsd chips but I gotta admit I got a little worries when this thread poped up not so much about the chip but the phone itself, I've never had a bad chip in my life bought about 20 or so thus far, the a-data does well in terms of speed nothing to be excisted about but for it's class and size it holds its own.
