How do I get £ Symbol rather than $ Symbol with 'Shift+4'? - General Topics

I was wondering if anyone knows how to change the keyboard layout on an XDA so that the £ symbol is displayed rather than $ symbol when you tap on Shift.
Is there a regional setting I haven't managed to find? Or is it a registry hack?

I dont know how to do that but if you tap the "au" button instead, you can choose from pound/euro/dollar/yen symbol.

Carriage return after symbol insert

When inserting a text symbol using the symbol page (hold the # key on keypad or Fn + Sym keys on keyboard), the symbol gets inserted followed by a carriage return (enter). This is extremely annoying and severely limits my SSH / command line usage (can't insert a symbol without an enter).
Does anyone else have this problem? Is it a WM6 problem or is it just my S710? Is there a fix or is it embedded in the ROM?
Yeah, I am also suffering from that in some apps. Don't know if there is a fix.
There is no problem, but it irritates. You must select the symbol by space button: "_/#" on main keyboard or "Space" on QWERTY-keyboard
Experienced this with my Dash before, must be a software conflict, after uninstalling some apps, it worked fine since then...
So you use space/# on keypad or space on keyboard to select the symbol instead of enter. Just tried it and it works. Thanks for the tip! I wonder why this behavior was changed from WM5 to WM6? Oh well, at least there's a workaround.

no £ or € using slid keyboard

Hi all,
Can any one shed any light on why the (green) FN £ , € key don't work, also the SYM key also does not work
I have recently hacked the registery with the following
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
changes for auto compleate
IMPORTANT: previously be sure that HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9\XT9SupportMSSip has a value of 0.
Simply change these two registry keys under:
HKLM\system\currentcontrolset\control\layouts\e 0010409
Ime File : \windows\xt9ime.dll change to Ime File :\windows\compime.dll
and
Layout Text : XT9 IME change to Layout Text : COMP IME
And soft reset.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
could this be the problem
Mine works m8 , so i'm not sure why yours don't
My £ and € both worked fine until I just read your post and tried the registry edit to get rid of the stupid word doubling black text at the bottom of the screen.
Now my FN does still work but not for £ or €
Have just checked mine and all seems to be ok. Try changing the reg again and seeing if that makes any diffrence

Click to collapse
There may be a shortcut, I don't know, but the only way I can see to enter this is to press FN and the space bar, then hit the "more" at the lower left of the screen twice. It's the second from the left in the second row.
Press the blue FN plus the SPACE BAR that when pressed togeter is SYM = SYMBOLS and there you go...

How to write Degree symbol °

Hello all.
I want to ask someone, how can I enter this symbol ° on a WM6 Smartphone?
I want to enter GPS coordinates to my Toshiba for geocaching, but I didn't found that symbol anywhere.
Is there a way to modify the symbol table(normally poped up by holding # button during text enter),because I want to have more useful symbols instead of the smilies f.ex.?
Thanks very much in advance,Tomas.

Adding new Fn Keys

Is there a keyboard remapping program that could allow me to add the characters "<" and ">" into "Fn + N" and "Fn + M"? I hope that's not confusing. I happen to use shifty eyes a lot, and it's a lot handier than having to enter the symbol menu all the time.
