Hi guys!
Is there a way to close the application instead of going to the specific "task manager"?
FOr example, I open one application and if there isn't the exit option I don't know how can I close it up...
When there is no exit option the only way to close program is using a task manager.
There are many task manager.. but i prefer xBar 3. It's the best. Fast & good. Pressing & holding joystick will list runing tasks.
You can close a task by moving the cursor to an app and pressing Back key.
Handy.
For a free solution you can try SmartToolKit. But again, I prefer xbar.
Hi.
I ve a Touch Pro with much ram. I can run many program at same time without problems (tomtom, newsbreak, palringo, etc). But when I run Opera many programs are closed / killed. I ve debugged it with my own program and Its the tipical way used by Windows same years old when a program requested much memory and needed to close others. So:
1) Windows sends (shoots) other programs with WM_CLOSE messages
2) After some seconds Windows Kills the programs that refused to close.
But It doesnt happens after soft reset. Only after several hours. Maybe because the memory is fragmented and Windows cant allocate a contigous chunck of memory to satisfy Opera.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
Dani

HTC Task manager by default (i think) will "autokill" programs. Install advanced config and disable the autokill setting on the task manager with it. do a soft reset and it shouldnt do that any more.
But I dont use Task Manager. Just open a few programs (after several hours without reset). Then open opera and after some seconds some of the previous programs were closed....
I believe that the Task Manager is still inbuilt and thus you need to get rid of it and install the one mrvanx suggested.
Cheers

Hi Dani
As long as you're using TF3D, its taskmanager is running and killing programs if available memory goes beneath ~120 MB. You may change this threshold via avanced config (I think).

PS: don't do too much internet surfing - we're waiting for the new skin..

I know most people want the programs launched to close, but my problem is whenever I open one program (for example icontacts), and then open another program (for example opera mini) the first program (icontact) closes by itself... this happens with almost all software even when I have >8mb memory free. It's annoying because I have to reload the first software...
is it b/c of the ROM i have installed or is there a solution (i would hate to have to format and reinstall everything for this!!)
Thanks
Check if you have HTC Taskmanager or WKTask. These are both popular programs which can be set to make the X button close programs. You can change the settings of either of these programs.
Hello friends,
Pardon me for this naive question....
But I thought my samsung GT P3100 allowed multitasking i.e. when internet(opera, skyfire) is open simultaneously i can open nimbuzz, play game or do any other operation in the background.
However when i hit the "home" button on bottom left to go to the menu or applications page to open new app....while this new app is open all other apps get closed....i.e. if i try to open the apps thru the "task manager" button adjacent to "home" button on bottom left....all programs start Afresh.
Is there some thing i am missing.....request help, pls.
rgds.

Its called memory management by android. Whenever memory required by current active application is less than available memory android automatically closes some apps to get some free memory and allow smooth current app execution.
But it happens to me rarely.
I find that apps get killed quicker on stock ICS than they do in CM10
*blamesamsung*
In all seriousness, if you were rooted you could tweak the memory management, lowering the level of free memory where Android begins to kill apps. But this isn't a Desktop OS, that let's you REALLY minimize windows without closing.
If you want to multitask and browse, check out Floating Browser on Play. It let's you browse on top of other apps and can be minimized like in a desktop OS
Hi!
tried to search but no luck... Maybe you know!? I need an app with which I can see every other app processes. For e.g.- I launch an app and hit some options... and then I open the process app and I can see witch files/folders and what processes the app used.
I have rooted access.
try process monitor. may be that's what you need.
