Newbie, Bluetooth question - General Topics

Hi,
I have a Nokia headset which works fine for calls. My 2 questions are;
How do I set it up for voicecalls (i need for making normal voice call via the speaker as well)
How do I get it to play music through the headset??
thanks.

what device do you have?
as far as I am aware neither option that you request is presently available on THC devices. (At least not the Blue Angel)

Jabra BT-800 not working w Qtek 2020 WM2003SE

I bought the Jabra BT-800 headset for 119 EUR and was hoping to enjoy the headset w/o getting my PPC out of my pocketst.
Well that didnt work out. Pairing was easy, and after switching on the headset (in profile on today screen) I could call with it. The only thing is, I cannot get the call list on the headset to work. It doesnt show any numbers at all, and i wonder how its supposed to work anyway.
That being said, I also don't get to see who's calling me when using the headset.
1) Incoming call.... PPC rings..
2) After a few seconds the headset backlight switches on showing "Jabra BT-800" (standard text). I do not get to see who's calling me on my headset.
3) When listening to the ring tone on headset, after a second or two I get a really annoying sqreaking sound and that stays on till I accept the call or hang up.
So it is not working for me. Besides the headset does not stay on my ear correctly. I have small ears and it is really uncomfortable.
I have Qtek 2020 with Windows Mobile 2003 SE ROM (downloaded from this forum), ROM version 2.06.00WWE, Radio 1.18.00, Protocol 1337.38, ExtROM 2.06.100a
The Jabra BT-800 does not do what they say it's supposed to do.
Anyone else got these problems or solutions? Ciao
R.
me too
Same problem... They say it is also capable of BT voice dialing. I hate the way it takes so long to answer calls.
I am going to find out if the sony ericson ones work.. Then get that. The reception on the BT800 is great though.

Lucky you to get that far
After the upgrade to the Diamond 1.2 I have tried to bond my Bluespoon Digital. That was very easy and everything works fine, exept a call not is trasferred to the headset. I have tried both stacks, and I have tried it with the Sony Ericsson HBH 65. It simply doesn't work at all.
Does anybody have suggestions to what to do??
bluetooth headset not bonding
Hi , I had smae problem with new I.Tech clip headset.
It's ok now as I downloaded the POcket Bluetotth Tools from this link:
http://bluetooth.i-networx.de/index_e.html
Now it's ok for incoming and outgoing calls...
Cheers..

Persnickety Bluetooth
Thanks for the link!
I had a problem with my Jabra BT250 after the WM upgrade. The mic and speaker remained active on the device, and the earpeice on my headset was active, but not the headset mic. The BT Tools did the trick.
Thanks
Jabra BT800 & XDA ii
Hi there,
The Jabra BT800 isnt compatable with the XDA ii (check www.jabra.com)
I owned this headset and had exactly the same problems, i now own the Jabra BT200 and it works perfectly
The BT800 needs a phone with bluetooth handsfree profile to be able to use the advanced features like caller id. Xda II as standard has only bluetooth headset profile.
I'm not sure about the 2003SE rom some of you guys are using, but I've tried it with the Buzz WM2K5 rom (thanks buzz et al) and this DOES give it the bluetooth handsfree profile it needs.
BUT...
It seems Jabra's idea of caller id is to only pass the number across, and not the name. So for those of us that don't have a photographic memory its pretty useless. This isn't restricted to Xda's either. I tried a couple of Nokia phones that are 'compatible' according to www.jabra.com and these do exactly the same. Number shows on the jabra screen but no name, even though the phone is showing both.
I emailed Jabra about it and they acknowledge it is an issue. They also tell me there is an issue with numbers in international format in that they fail to pass the + sign across, so you can't ring out from the call list.

Ya need 2.20 translated to have a working Hands Free profile.. BT800 needs hands free profile.
Caller ID still only displays if the number is a virgin to your system.. I think HBH662 will work with 2.20.
2005 may work with no problems too.

BT Headset w/caller ID and XDA II/IMate PPC

In reviewing the forums, I am unable to find a "straight" answer (at least one I can understand), about whether *ANY* BT headset with caller ID will fully work with the XDA II (or in my case, the IMATE PPC).
My configuration:
Imate PPC (XDA II)
ROM: 1.72.00WWE (3/15/04)
Radio: 1.14.00
Protocol: 1337.24
ExtROM: 1.72.800
I am running Pocket Bluetooth Tools V1012 (also tried 1100).
Can anyone tell me if the Sony-Ericsson HBH-660 or any other caller-ID enabled BT headset will properly display the caller number and/or name with the above hardware/software profile?
I know for sure that the Jabra BT800 will NOT. The headset works (actually, works great... good reception!), but the caller ID does not work.
Thanks in advance!
-Kevin.
Hi,
There are many ways to get the Bluetooth with Caller ID works on the PPC. The trick is that the Caller ID needs a Hands Free profile, which is not standard in the PPC. After using one of these ways, you will end up having the the caller number only appears, but no names. If this is what you want, I can tell you how it could be done.
Hi Waladany,
Yes, I would be very interested in knowing how to get it to work. A number (without name), is perfectly acceptable. I still have the Jabra BT800 headset for about 6 more days before I must return it for a refund, so I can use it to test.
Thanks in advance.

Ok Guys, here are what i got.
You have two ways:
1- Install the merged rom made by sin (you can find it in the forum), as it includes the bluetooth fix. ( This is what I tried)
2-a- Install the Bluetooth Handsfree fix, I will attach it for you. After installing both updates, you should try to bond with the Headset. you should be receiving the message telling you that this is a Hands Free Device (Yes or No). You better say yes. If you said No, another message pop up twice asking if it is a Handset Device.
2-b- As a test, if you already have the headset bonded, you can go to the devices screen in bluetooth. Click and hold on the device, you should see a shortcut menu with the option "set as Hand Free". Try to select and test the Hands Free

I have the merged ROM by Sin, but still experience the same microphone issues. The CallerID works great, but the microphone on the headset is not active. Both the speaker and microphone on the XDA-II are operating.

Are you referring to the registry fix? I think that just makes you able to select hands-free at all. It doesn't fix the microphone problem.
The only thing I've heard that works is the 2.20 Chinese version. But I'm pretty happy with the Sin version. I wish we could find a quick fix for it.
If I've missed a new BT fix from Sin, please post the link here.
Thanks

no way no how will BT CID work fully on even 2.20!! It sucks.
On 2005 it works FLAWLESSLY. But there are bugs on 2005, lack of mem, contacts and email database are new so will not work with many third party software, etc.
Even if you add the reg key "HadsfreeProfileOn", (Sins fix), or have any BT stack or even pray to the bluetooth God, your ****ed on 2.02 - 2.06.
2.20 is ****ty.. If I receive another call while using handsfree, even if I do not answer it, I loose all sound and mic ON BOTH until I click on Tools, Hands free off and then again tools hands free on.
Sometimes the mic - duel speaker things comes back and you have to reboot.

Help Needed On HBH DS-980 headset

I am using the HBH-DS980 bluetooth headset with my Nokia 6300 phone. I desperately need on the following questions,
1. After pairing and connecting, the contacts lists shows up as empty in the headset. How can I enable the bluetooth headset to read my phone's contacts?
2. When I receive a call the caller ID only shows the number of the caller and not his/her name as stored in the contacts. How can I fix this?
3. The auto-connect feature doesnt seem to work well. After connection, if I take my phone away from range for a while and then come back the re-connection does not happen automatically after any amount of time. I have set my phone to auto-connect with Bluetooth headset without confirmation. Still it does not work. How can I fix this.
Please help.
On this site people talk mostly about Windows Mobile phones made by HTC and AFAIK this is not the case with the Nokia 6300... (I could be wrong and this wouldn't be the first time).
I suggest you post your questions at Nokia Discussions or Esato.

navigation, a2dp, hands free - how to combine?

Hi there,
my next mobile phone is going to be a Topaz, but my question might apply to other devices as well.
Basically I want to feed a car radio via a2dp with music (coming from a microSD card inside the device) & navigation instructions (I prefer TomTom and Mobile Navigator, I have yet to decide which one to get in full version) and use the radio's hands free feature for phone calls.
The radio I might be getting is a Sony MEX-BT3600U (link).
My question is: how exactly do I get this scenario to work? I'm unsure whether the device has to "mute" the music and navigation instructions when calls come in or the radio uses different kinds of "channels" for a2dp and calls. Do the programs (music player and navigation) require certain functions to accomplish this?
Thanks for helping me out... and feel free to suggest other possibilities!
I have a similar, but older MEX BT deck from Sony, the MEX-BT5000. I will try to explain how it has worked with all of my WinMo devices (Hermes, Kaiser, Xperia).
It will auto pair with your device with both a standard cell phone and an A2DP connection. When using non-phone audio it will come out of your car speakers when you are in Bluetooth Audio input mode. Anytime there is a call or the phone functions are activated it will override the A2DP and you can accept the call and talk or send to voicemail. While the phone is in use normal audio will NOT come through the speakers. I think this is best because you wouldn't want TomTom yelling at everyone who calls you, or in my case have them hear my blaring music. Also the phone will override CD or Radio audio also, but A2DP will only come through when it is selected on the deck.
That's exactly what I wanted to know. Thank you!

[Q] Still no incoming ringtone over Bluetooth?

One of the only shortcomings of my first Android phone is that incoming calls ring over the phone's speaker, even when paired with my Bluetooth headset. All I get in my ear is a beep. This doesn't help when my phone is in my pocket.
I know my Jawbone Icon supports this as it's compliant with all the latest standards. It worked perfectly on my now retired WinMo 6.5 phone using MSVC (which announced the caller's name on top of their ringtone). Given the lack of BT support on Android until Froyo -- or at least that's my perception -- I can only assume this feature still hasn't been implemented.
I found one of the apps that reroutes all sound to the BT headset, but it's kind of primitive; it just leaves the channel open all the time, and is mono at that. Why, oh why doesn't Android support this rather basic function???
Tell me there's already a way to do this, and I'll send you a million thanks while apologizing profusely for my denseness. Tell me it's coming in Honeycomb, and I'll be patient. If not, then I may think about offering a bounty to any programmer who can build an app that sits on the BT stack to reroute all sound when the phone is paired with the BT headset.

Well said I have had this same problem since I moved fro WinMo 2 years ago... I am running Gingerbread on an Eris and as of the last 3.6 build, it will not even play the ringtone on the phone if it is paired. This is a new set back for Android and Bluetooth...I will help with the bounty...
I swear my S10HD just beeped at me on WM6.x, but I'd have to double check.
