What is the com port responsible for Infra-red?

Go to settings/connections/beams and uncheck the box, in tomtom choose com 1, nmea 4800.
Thanks mate worked a treat!!!!!
SameProblem?!
Hello!
I'm a newbee... i want to connect a GPS 4TomTom to the USB Port.
So i don't really know, how to connect the MDA II to the USB GPS-Mouse.
I've taken an USB cable, that could charge the MDA II and build a adapter to connect the cable and the GPS Mouse in it. It won't work. I've think so already, but i've read it anywhere in the www.
So, could anybody help me with the Problem?
I've an Haicom HI-202E GPS-Mouse,
the MDA II
a soldering iron...
and a 5V Powersupply in my adapter (consists of 2 USB ports connected to each other, powersupplied with an 7805 (2A))
How can i fix it?
Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure, but i think, that wouldn't work.
The USB Specifications says that USB requires one master device to controll the slave devices. Your PC is the master device and the mda is just an slave. You won't be able to get 2 slaves talking to each other without a master.....
Stefan
cant the MDA work as an Master?
I've heard it so. But I'm not shure.
Some people gets a external HDD working on other PDA's.
I'll look and think about, but i've never found anithing an web for thet problem/solution.
I've wondered that nobody wants to connect more on the PDA...
I mean 20Gig HDD may be nice in Holliday to listen music
the tomtom software for PPC's will enable under "GPS-status - GPS" the options to select a protocol/GPS-Mouse and the connection:
Ir
BT on com6
serial on com1
com9
.
.
Serial on USB
Bluetooth GPS
so, i thought it will
Thanks for more...
Found this in another thread:

Yes, this is right. The XDA2 won't function as a USB host. You do need that backpack and a www.ratocsystems.com host card. Then it will work.
I know this becuase I'm trying to link mine up to a HDD to store loads of music in my car and use the PPC as a controller but I don't want the confounded backpack - for you though on the motorbike, only using it when you need it it sounds perfect.

@nobody: THE MDA can ony act as slave.
BUT: For GPS you ony need a serial port. And after all USB IS a serial type of port.
Only thing you need to do is solder a cable that connects the +5v, ground, Tx and Rx of the GPS USB connector to the appropiate pins of the MDA connector . . . .
On one of the german forums (cant remember the name :-( )there is a memeber nicked 'mocki' that offers custom built cables.
Tanman, choose nmea 4800 and com 1. Make sure beams are off and also that you dont have a keyboard driver loaded. Go to the gps screen in tomtom and see if there is any bars showing for satellites. If this doesnt work or gives an error let me know.
Hi cruisin-thru
Worked a treat
what I could not find at first was 'nmea 4800' which was the name of the sat receiver
Nice one thanx a lot
Tan
Tanman, that is actually the protocol used by the receiver rather than the name/model. Glad its sorted for you.

So what you're saying is that, asl ong as the hardware is compatible with NMEA, we can use this generic driver with the correct baud spreed ?
Yes

com ports

Hi guys, I have a problem connecting a bt gps with Pocket map. I worked with Pocketap last year under wm2003se and it worked fine. It has a feature to search for your GPS device and it fids it within seconds. It doesn't work with wm2005. It only offers few com ports (1,2,3,6,and 9), but whenever I try to connect one of these com ports I get the same message "the com port could not be dreated. please check your settings and try again".
Does anyone have a solution please?
I'm not using Pocket map, but did you check if you haven't assigned your com ports already?
Installed the GPS by pairing it, selecting a free port. Then changed the GPS settings by selecting GPS under Settings -> System. Here you must select the same com port. Under the Access tab make sure that the Manage GPS automatically option is on. TT now automatically finds my GPS for me.......
My BT GPS mouse is connected to com4 and I can connect to 5 or 8, but none of them or seen by pocketmap. I can use these ports in TT5, but not in pocketmap. I need com 6 or 9! But if you try with bluetooth connection you (I) cannot connect with these ports, only 4,5 or 8!
I had the same problem
I had exactly the same problem.
I finally solved the problem by hard-resetting the device (power button + camera button + record button and the reset switch). Also clean then your registry (look for hard resetting wm2005 on xda-developers).
After that i was ably to assign the com-port for the bt-gps. (com 5) in my case.
and tomtom 5 works with my GPS (bt-gps).
good luck!

Thx for the response, but this is not working . I can connect to com4,5 or8 and I am working with TT5 since last year, but I can not connect to com6,7,9 which I need for my American pocketmap navigator.

MDA PRO and TOMTOM problems.. please help :(

Hi,
I'm hoping someone out there will be kind enough to help and solve this problem before I rip all my hair out!!!
I've installed tomtom (V5.00) on my mda pro, but I can't get it to recognise my bluetooth gps receiver.
I've set up a bluetooth partnership with an outgoing COM port. My MDA allows me to choose COM0 ,COM4,COM8
When I select other Bluetooth device from Tom Tom configuration, it gives me the options:
QCT Data Interface
Serial Cable on COM1
COM7
RIL on COM6
Infrared Port
Ir on COM3
I can't seem to align the software and the bluetooth to get it working correctly. Please help
Update your application to at least version 5,21 to get this working, have a look at http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?Language=1&FID=3361 for the software - Mike
Apart from the 5.21 and above (current is 6.03) software requirement, many users also have to set a COM port your MDA offers you (i.e. COM0) manually in the navigator.cfg (or was it .dat, donĀ“t remember, try) file where the COM is stored that TT is using. Just change to navigator.txt, edit and change back to .cfg Good luck.

Print function in the wizard?

The other day i saw a USB port on one of my printer at work and i was wondering is there a way to print from the wizard if i plug the phone up using the usb port?
never heard of it... i tried only to print via bluetooth and it didn't work (even if i tried with serveral roms)
i read somewhere Wizard's usb is passive, doesn't have an automount. So i think you should find or develop a program to manage printers and usb drivers to print.
Is it 'PictBridge' you are talking about??
Mag be you or someone els can find a way to use the PictBridge standard/protocoll to print.
Alltrue i read somewhere that the usb port on the Wizard is not an 'host usb port', that means the wizard cannot controll any devices but the other device(ie laptop/pc) will controll the wizard.
So i dont know if there is a way you can print by using the usb port.

creating new COM 1 port for HP BT Keyboard on HTC devices

hello guys. I need to ask you, if anybody tried to solve my problem. I have couple of PDAs and I cannot get work this HP FA287A Bluetooth Folding Keyboard on any pda. I have one HP 614c, where it works correctly. the main problem is, that on HTC phones (Universal, Wizard, Touch) is only COM6 and COM7 available. so even if I install driver for this keyboard here it automatically tryin to connect to COM1. On HP there is 10 COM ports available...
so the question is, it is any way, how to map paired device to another port? in this case COM1?
thanx a milion
ohh and I did found few virtual COM drivers on the net, I will try them ASAP and will provide feedback. but I guess, this will be not easy.
