I know this has been discussed before but how many people can hear a noise which sounds like a spring when they open the keyboard. Feels very flimsy and nowhere near as solid as the tytn.
I hear it too; I thought it was just me. I had the Hermes before this, and I wouldn't characterize the slider as solid though
I hear it, but it feels pretty solid to me.
I hear it too, I don't like it one bit. Feels pretty solid though

I have no such thing as a spring noise when opening my keybord...

Dont think its a spring, but a slider that protects the ribbon cable. when the device is open
Having listened again its more of a rattle and it rattles when the keyboard is open if you move the device about.
Hi All,
I maybe had the same thing.
If u flip your keyboard and turn your TP around u can see a little panel. This seem to be protecting something. This panel can go up and down and does so when you flip your kboard. In this panel is a spring
On My first TP (i switched mine becos of this fault) the panel jumped open, which sounded like a spring.
I ttink this is the problem.
I returned to the store and switched mine, np since.
Hope this helps
Mine is brand new today so do you think I should send it back? From the poll, seems about 50/50 people have the problem.
Edit...
It has all become clear, I can see the little plastic cover that is loose making the noise. Dont know if its suposed to be loose or not though
It's supposed to be loose, it moves while u flip your keyboard.
What happened with my old one (just after tweo days) that when i flipped my kboard, the plastic cover moves to far and opens for a brief second, hence the sound. I still have the sound but it's way softer cos tha plastic cover dont move that much.
Hope this helps, if u worry, return it, way to expensive !
Well, overall, I think the build quality of the Touch Pro is wonderfull! I love that its slightly heavy too!
But the keyboard slideoutmechanism, although very solid and robust gives away a worrying noise, sorta like its scraping against something. Anyone managed to confirm if this is nothing to worry about? I feel like I damage the device each time I pull it out.. lol
Regards
According to me that's the LCD flatcable cover sliding into place. With the device opened you'll find a little latch of sorts at the top of the screen back, that slides shut when opened and opens up to give the LCD flatcable some room to roll itself up in.
Nothing to worry about then!
Hi everybody,
Got myself a brand new Touch Pro last monday and really love the thing. However, after playing with it for the past few days, it somehow stopped reacting to stylus take outs. Both when in sleep mode, as in a call. It won't wake up or pull up the notes application, respectively. I didn't drop the device or anything. Just installed some apps.
Anyone experiencing the same thing? Or does someone know of a certain option or registry entry that I can check?
Thanx! Scott
EDIT:
I tackled the problem! For anyone else experiencing this problem:
There is a tiny switch located at the top of the cut out for the stylus. Check whether this switch is obstructed. Mine got stuck under the casing of the device. Maybe this can happen randomly when inserting the stylus.
If anyone of you have had a similar problem, please report it here. If it is common, we should report it to HTC as well.
Scott
see and i thought the pro didn't wake up like the diamond does. now realize u have to take it fully out to wake.
Out of curiosity how did you clean it out? The only way I can see to do it is to pull the phone apart or just blow backwards down where the stylus rests.
I've had the stylus jam up inside the casing on me a few times. Quite possibly the battery sitting funny inside the case, a guy on whirlpool mentioned it.
ugh this happened to me today... how did you fix yours?... i don't really see where the dam trigger for this thing is
How to fix
I fixed mine using a toothpick and a flashlight. Use the flashlight to shine into the stylus silo. When you look closely you can see a tiny switch about 1cm upwards from the bottom of the device.
The switch roughly looks like this: _/|_ When you insert the stylus it "rolls" in a upward direction. Mine got stuck at the top of the square hole where the switch normally points out.
I carefully used the toothpick to pull it back out. I carefully pushed it in a little bit and made a downward movement. It popped right out to its normal position.
I hope this helped!
Scott
I'm having the same problem... Can someone post a photo so I know what to look for?
Same problem here, fixed by flicking the switch a couple of times.
Quick idea, maybe install the program: Gyrator2.
If it's not a sensor problem, I believe it might help since it's one of the specified rule and the program is quite useful anyway
This problem will happen if you jab your stylus into the slot without being careful. It won't touch it's switch. So it'll slide to the side. I'd suggest you point a flashlight at it and find out.
I found this thread when looking up how to solve my stylus issue, out of the blue it has been jamming up when I tried inserting the stylus in and out. Almost as if the stylus got thicker during the day, a very tight fit. Read this thread and got a clue that it may have something to do with that switch.
If I insert my stylus in at a angle it glides in and out as it is suppose to. If do it without paying attention like i do 90% of the time I will jam. I have have a look at this switch once I get home.
Thanks
Well, this forum has saved me yet again.
I was actually playing around with Gyrator when my stylus suddenly got really, really hard to move in and out. I had just deleted the stylus events in the app once I figured out what was key-locking my device, when on the next stylus insert it got really stiff. For a moment I thought maybe the app make some magical change to the magnet or something and so I uninstalled, tried it, then reinstalled gyrator.
I put an LED flashlight up to the little hole about an inch (5 cm) down the stylus shaft and then used a needle to play around in there. I can't say I have a clear idea where the switch is exactly, but I figured it was toward the body of the device. I finally saw something move and then tried the stylus. It worked a lot better then next two times, then suddenly it's again snapping in and out easily.
Thanks to the OP!

My stylus got super sticky all of a sudden (to the point i was scared i would break it if i pulled any harder to get it out). I couldn't figure it out. Then i read this thread and found out about the stylus switch. My switch was not aligned straight in the silo. All i had to do was find the switch and bend it back into place with a toothpick. I had some success bending it back with the stylus itself, but it is far enough back in the silo that it's hard to get good contact with the stylus point. And it quickly got stuck after a few inserts/removals. But after i bent it into place with the toothpick, it has been fine for the last few hours.
I've attached 2 photos of the stylus silo (the picture titled switch2 is better), in which you can just barely make out the switch. The pictures are taken with the Touch Pro face down. The switch in the pictures is in the correct position. It should jut straight out into the silo. If it is coming in at an angle, it may be making your stylus stick. Or it may not be registering (and thereby not waking up your Raphael) when you remove your stylus. You need to shine a light down the silo, or you'll never see it. It was extremely hard to get the photos because the natural light wouldn't illuminate down the silo, and the flash had to be aligned just right so that it would bounce back to the lens of my camera. But it's the best i could do.
Stylus prob
I am having the same problem, and have been unable to resolve it yet, if anyone can document exactly what they did to fix it I would be grateful.
Twiddling about with a needle is kind of hard to visualise.
Thanks

Thanks for the tips and the pics pokeycd.. i was scared that i had damaged my magnetic sensor but ur pics and info were just great and my stylus locks in and comes out perfectly now. thanks a lot.
I had the problem too. I got that cellphone and thought that it was suposed to be that hard to insert that stylus. Then i read this thread and watched a little closer and i found that switch beeing stuck. I first repositioned it with a toothpick. Then it worked again, but i need to be careful inserting that stylus (inserting it with an angle) else it will get stuck again. But later on i realized that i can easily reposition that switch with that stylus just by inserting it at an angle. (Angle). I hope u can figure out how you can fix that.
A picture of the switch (it's not that sharp but it will let u guess where you have to look for):
Switch for the Stylus
I hope it will help.
I have same problem too. I buy today Touch Pro. I think that magnet sensor is not OK.
Thanks to all for solved this problem
I think this problem is for all Raphaels..
There is no magnet sensor as far as i think. The magnet is just for keeping the stylus in the phone. There is a 'machanical' sensor (as you can see on the photos above). That sensor is either sticking in the case or is beeing stuck by inserting the stylus without caution.
I have this problem too I think...My stylus now slides in and out of the device without a problem, but if I look in Gyrator it always thinks my stylus is in. Despite all of the pics and advice above, I can't seem to locate / unstick / bend the sensor back to its correct position.
My switch came out
I was having this problem with the super-tight stylus on my Fuze, and after taking it in and out a few times (which I wish I hadn't done), I did this-
Take out the battery and shine an LED pocket flashlight into the opening of the silo where the batter sits, shining it back towards the opening.
I saw the tiny black lever that senses when the stylus is in or out. With my Fuze positioned with the silo on top, screen on left, battery area on right, this little lever was on the bottom right.
I took a toothpick and could position it so it stuck straight up into the center. I tried to move it around a few times, but then it came off and fell out! (came off or broke off)
Here are some pictures of the little piece and the stylus opening after it came out.
It doesn't look like the plastic is broken... anyone know if it can be fixed?
I have a design flaw on mine
I think I have a design flaw: instead of the switch and the casing for it, mine shows a cavity with what I thought was a metal sensor. I think the whole swith thing is missing on mine. Always has been.
This is the second fuze ive owned... and this is also the second time this has happened. In the middle of the screen there is a small block of like a rainbow of colors... but you can only see it in certain light...
Has anyone else ever come across this?

Mine too.. But i have a screen protector on it so I figured maybe its the screen protector? never really check it without the screen protection.
Yes.
My first fuze did this after a few days, its an exact square with sort of a frame, I was thinking it was condensation, but my phone has been dry always....
I thought it was weird that it was square shaped and a almost perfect square.
Anyone know what this is?
Yep...nothing unusual for raph unfortunatelly...my old post:

BTW, this is well known issue by HTC so replacement is in most cases done free of charge as a part of warranty. Eventhough I've heard that in some cases in UK, HTC was demanding some kind of payment for replacement.
Anyway, this cannot be fixed in any other way but replacing the screen....afaik
I was told that it means that the screen under the digitizer is broken. Most likely from pressure on the middle of the screen.

Oh man, mine just expanded Can I know what did you guys do?
Pressure between flat wires, conductive tapes and backside of LCD screen causes the problem. You should take apart your Raphael to see the back of LCD. There is a very thing black tape around the display. Check it for any kinf of damage. If there is no sign of penetration, make the same thin tape from any kind of office tape and place it over dark one. I hope this can help you.

i was just about to start a post about this. the middle of my screern (75% of the screen) has these rainbow swirls and they form a perfect rectangle. you can also see a grid of dots. once i noticed this square i started havin problems where its as if someone is pressing the touchscren just on top right corner of this rectangle. so i cant go through menus and it will randomly go away. it also happens on other random locations. can someone explain what i should do?
Mine just did the same thing. The phone seems to work normally. I called and I am sending it in for warranty repair. Is there any way to prevent this from happening in the future? If they replace the screen, do they have some process in place to prevent the same issue? I really love this phone!
Oh, and now my iPhone loving friends are all saying, "You shoulda got an iPhone!" I dont want a crappy iPhone, I just want a good screen! This is my second phone already.....I have never dropped or abused it in any way.... I really wish they used better quality screens. i can do tons more stuff with my phone that my "iPhone friends" cannot....
UPDATE: to anyone who gets this problem. I finally got around to calling ATT and they say its not a known problem so its not covered within warrenty. They want 500 to fix it.... Then I called HTC and they said this is whats known as a Newton ring and its due to pressure applied to the screen so they wont fix it under warrenty. Now they are asking for 200 for it to be fixed. Not worth the fix if u ask me. Thier rep was pretty shocked it was on a Fuze and said hes seen this before and they never fix it under warrenty so its not worth sending it in unless im prepared for the bill.
I have this weird issue i have only just noticed. In the middle of my screen, there is almost a perfect rectange of slightly discoloured, rainbowy effect on the screen. It is right in the centre of the screen, and goes to aout 1cm from the edge the whole way round.
Its like the digitizer has detached or pushed up against the screen. I cant remember doing anything to it. And if i run my finger over it, the rainbow effect moves/follows my finger then snaps back to the rectangle (kind of like when you have a bubble under a screen protector).
Also the area under this spot is slightly less sensitive and seems to be giving the odd random input.
Do you rekon this would be covered under warranty? I cant remember doing anything to the screen, and the fact is so pefectly placed in the middle of the screen.
Hey,
Mine does this as well... It's a perfect rectangle, and only visible in strong (especially flourescent) light. Can't notice any differences in input though. Interested to see what people think, and if it's a common problem. Can't remember any incident that could have led to this, I take care of my phone.
In case it helps, it's a UK Vodafone Touch Pro, with the latest HTC WWE ROM.
I have had a similair effect but not a perfect rectangle. somewhere mid screen slightly to the right I had a bubble of rainbow colour. I actually thought it was underneath the screenprotector so i bought a new one to change it. To my surprise the bubble was still there but internally.
I used to have my phone with the protective leather thingy in my jeans. I decided to take it out for a while. And what do you know. after a day the bubble dissapeared. I then put it back in my jeans and checked every hour. The bubble came back. So i'm guessing pressure on the glass internally or something.
Nowadays I dont carry it around in my tight jeans anymore. I use the protective leather that came with it and put it in my jacket pocket instead.
Edit: It has all the attributes xternal listed. The bubble that is.. less responsive random input rainbow following finger. In my case it has been due to pressure on the screen from my tight jeans. Yours might be something else though...
thanks for replies guys, sounds identical to what i have. i thought it was screen protector too, took it off to clean and noticed it was below. wasted blue, i was almost about to edit my post to include exactly what you said about flourescent light.
maybe it has happened from being in my tight jeans, strange that wasted blue and i have the same sized area though.
i have a fuze.
Mine is the Htc Touch Pro from HI, KPN Netherlands.
Xternal i would suggest you don't keep your phone in your jeans for a while and see if the bubble dissapears. Might take a few days at first. just put it in your jacket or something. If it dissapears you know what it is. I don't think this will fall under warranty. if it sticks regardless of pressure you might get warranty...
Oeh i just remember. If the backlight is out you will see a blacker than black dot on the screen where the bubble is supposed to be. if the light goes on its rainbowy fluorecent.
Thanks King, i have taken the protector off and will keep it out of my pocket. The pattern is the same if the backlight is on or off. Id post a photo, but its really hard to get it to show up in a photo.
Im of the opinion now that as you say, the digitizer is pushed against the screen, not detached. Hopefully it pops back
Hey guys.. same issue for a lot of people
It is something like this:
http://contactus.htc.com/Download.aspx?TicketID=396548&ReplyID=2&FileName=IMGP6088.jpg
Look at what HTC told me:
New Response From [ Cathy (Malaysia Support (Tech)) ]
Dear xxxx,
We regret to inform you that based on our warranty policy, we can not provide you the free repair on this issue.
If the touch window having some rainbow mark, it is caused by extra force enter to the touch window and it is under user misused. Thus, there is no Warranty Provided.
Thanks.
Best regards.

After some rants:
Thank you for contacting HTC. With reference to your query, we understand you are upset for this issue. But according to the HTC warranty policy, the LCD is not covered by warranty. Please check the attachment for HTC warranty policy. For the "newton rings" issue, we recommend you send it to service center to replace the LCD. Thanks.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll try keeping it out of my jeans pocket for a while. Sounds like this "newton ring" problem in the other therads though. I'd tried replacing the screen protector as well before, but no joy there. Might need to try to get a replacement (took out insurance on it), but guess I'd need to flash back to the carrier ROM.
Anybody know how good Vodafone UK's insurance is about newton rings?
Just read kingpinda's post again, when my backlight is off I can still see the rings, so doesn't sound like the same problem. I'll still try it though, thanks.
