creating shortcut to bluetooth manager - General Topics

a couple of hard resets ago i found a way to create a shortcut to the bluetooth manager (to turn BT on/off, not bluetooth settings) which enabled me to put a shortcut on the today screen which would be there permanently, unlike the standard now-you-see-it now-you-don't bluetooth tray icon.
i have been trying to find out how i stumbled across it ever since but have been unsuccessful. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Would love to know how to do this, if possible.
Thanks

ME TOO!! Me wants ta know too!
I have only been able to make links to the Control Panel Bluetooth Settings... but I think we would love to know this little trick!
Cheers!

Disable speakerphone programatically?

Anyone know how to do this? I would like to be able to do this instantly from a shortcut or script. Thanks.
Bump... Anyone?
A great man comes to the rescue (i don't mean me, i mean ViJay):

Thanks a lot RPG0. Unfortunately that software only works on WM5. Also, that's just one of the features of the software - I was actually hoping to have an EXE or something to toggle speakerphone on/off, or figure out how to do that. Thanks again though.
Hmm, I know you can put a button on the today screen with PhoneAlarm for that.
Did you try it? I think it says WM5 only as is WM5 or newer. The system didn't change so much from WM5 to WM6... And it does give you a link (i was using it for callhistory)... Just try it.
One of the built-in settings in AE Button Plus allows you to map that functionality to any button you want.
There's a new version of VJVolubilis lying on my harddrive somewhere that does this (written literally years ago!), but for now, go with AEButtonPlus.

Thanks guys! That worked great. One last question - what about disabling the phone's external speaker altogether?

How to A2DP Switch for bluetooth stereo headset - SOLVED POST 6

Hi Guys,
Apols if this has been answered before, but i have searched
I use Sony bluetooth stereo headset for my music. But to get them to connect every time i have to do lots of clicks : start/settings/connections/bluetooth then right click on the headset and click set as wireless stereo.
This is a major pain in the butt but i lurv the headphones
Is there any way to make a shortcut to the bluetooth section and i can then place this short cut on launcher of HTC home, it would save alot of clicks!!
I have tried to create a shortcut, but the settings/connections/bluetooth is not visible in file explorer, (yes show all files is switched on)
It would be IDEAL if possible to create a small program that i can then install that would do all of the above steps, then i could simply click the program on the laucher and hey presto my head phones connect I am not conversant in programming on WM..... yet, so would really appreciate help and willing to donate
Try this one
Ha Ha thanks, but that only takes me to the comm manager and only sensibly cuts me one click. Was looking really for something more, but thanks for the reply
Hey buddy try this!!! I'm not sure what you are using as an app that will create a button for you but this should do it for you . I think!!!!
I made a shortcut to bluetooth.
To do it create a file called bluetooth.lnk and put the following line of code in it:
23#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,23,1?\Windows\AppButtons\bluetooth.gif
I think it is best to put this shortcut into the programs directory in windows and then you can choose it from the dropdown lists.
But better than that is to use A2DPToggle. Which makes it one press only to enable bluetooth and one press to sync headset or unsync headset on the Today screen. Killer app if you have bluetooth headset.

Fantastic, thanks for the advice, the A2DPToggle is exactly what i need. I had found a way to use battery status as it has a2dp toggle on there, but it uses a tray icon which takes up too much today screen, hence the reason for putting it on launcher tab on HTC home.
I downloaded A2DPToggle and now have a toggle switch on my HTC home launcher tab so the pluggin on the today screen is not needed
Here is the link for anyone else : http://www.teksoftco.com/index.php?section=freeware
Also attached is a small cab file which switches a2dp off and on, meaning you dont need to have the plugin on the today screen as it provides a switch that is placed on the start menu and which can be placed on the HTC home launcher, many thanks to JKingGrim the developer!! Works a treat!!
Thanks for the switcha2dp app. This is exactly what I was looking for. Works like a charm with my Vogue running Manilla 2D!
Any chance of getting an icon for it, so it's not just the plain window icon?
Sony Headphones
With mine all I have to do is press the middle button on the Headphones and it automatically makes them the default sound device?
i still hav to turnb bluetooth on though!
Quick and stupid question - how do I actually go about creating a .lnk file on my Touch Diamond?
Thanks
Ed.

Why don't you use Home Screen ++ ?
It has a tray icon for bluetooth settings (on/off,A2DP,pair,settings)
lol thanks for the reply, but home screen plus is a pain if your running manila and dont want to use a second today screen, your relying on a home plugin. Also home++ doesnt do the job of the a2dp switch.
The switch is very effective in that you can put a shortcut in the program laucher and its direct and effective... give it a try.
I don't know what the issue is, doesn't just pressing the play button on your A2DP headset automatically connect it to your phone?

[REQ] Toggle to switch between 2G/3G

Need something similar to the WiFi toggle, but for 3G/2G.
Anyone?
Bump...
Anyone? I can't be alone in wanting this??
Hi,
You can always toggle it in CommManager.
Yeah but the point is like the WiFi toggle - it's easier to have it on the home screen quicklinks rather than having to go into the comm manager
Find this program but not working well, is there any solution? thanks
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=L37PKTA2
Looks like no one find it yet.
There are numerous requests on xda, but no real solution
I'd be interested in this too. The 'Advanced Network' program lets me change it, but it also says that I need to reset the device after I change the setting.
I'm looking for something that I can just quickly toggle a few times a day when I'm not actively using 3g.

Automatic bluetooth on when on external power

Wouldnt it be great if bluetooth turned on automattically when I put the phone in the car holder(with charge function), and when i pull it out bluetooth turns off.
I Know that Phone alarm can do the trick but i don't need all the extra things that come with phone alarm, it only messes things up.
Is there a simple cab file around who enables this function?
Or if there isnt, could someone make such a cab file? I know a lot of guys who would love to have this working.
I would like it!
i am using phonealarm which also supports this function. Find it at www.pocketmax.net
I know i used it also but it is overkill if i only want to use it for the bluetooth function.
forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3367344
I installed it, reset my phone but it does not work.
Is this one especially for the hd2?
Oh boy would I like this! It's such an simple and usefull thing, and yet there still is no cab for it.
I'm not a developer, but it seems easy: power on = BT on, power off = BT off. It should be a matter of finding the right trigger for power on, and then combine it with the bluetooth-toggle cab found elsewhere. (See attached)
Who can help!
ps: it's for a HD2, so post mentioned above (bluepower) doesn't work indeed. Probably because of the other BT protocol used.
ps2: the attached Touch X Bluetooth Toggle.cab DOES work on HD2, but manually. If this cab can be changed to toggle BT on power-status in stead of manual input we'd have what we want.
ps3: phonealarm does know how to do the trick, but it's not flawless, and surely overkill. BUT.... the right trigger (powerstatus-on, powerstatus-off) should be in it somewhere... who can find it, and convert the attached BT toggle with it to the wanted function?
would be a nice one to have indeed, hope someone can help!

Yeah, as per the thread I started on a similar subject, I want to do this stuff but like others, Phonealarm is a little bit OTT for what I need, and g-profile just simply doesn't seem to work for some reason.
I set up a bunch of profiles but when you change (either manual or auto) the stuff you set up for the profiles in question just doesn't seem to happen. Hoping I'm just doing something wrong!

Sorry, but the logic is flawed. Some times the user may have BT on when not charging, then start charging. It would be bad to disconnect bt when he or she did not want to charge any more.
I'd do it like this: power on, save bt status, turn on bt regardless of previous state. power off, turn bt to same state as saved. You could possibly ask the user if he or she wanted to disconnect.
That would be an improved functionality indeed. But not needed for me (yet). I only use Bluetooth for connecting to my carkit. The rest of the day it's turned off. So for me power_on=BT_on and power_off=BT_off would be enough.
Your added function makes it even nicer though....
Nobody who can help us?
Bump,
wow this topic goes down fast.
hope someone will pick this up, it's a really good idea
and so simple.... it seems.
I really would like to have it too. I even provided the raw material with the working other programs, now all we need is a Winmo magician who can extract the needed elements, and brew it into a working cab...

On the profiles tab hit options an use the top function(automatically change) to ad the toggle on power state.
Ok, one last try.
Isn't there anyone who can help us.
I do use phonealarm right now but i think it drains my battery fast.
How about this guys?

Havent used it myself, and it is not clear if this is touchscreen compatible..

wifi / bluetooth switch tile

I want a quickly accessible switch to turn on/off bluetooth and wifi... why has that not been addressed with Mango? MS always claims that WP7 has been designed to access features with less effort (clicks) but turning on bluetooth or wifi (which is a daily accessed feature for me and I assume for a lot of other people as well) still needs at least 3 clicks. That could be reduced to maybe 1 if there would be a tile for the switches...
Hope someone addresses this "problem" soon...
Yes they have to add some sort of quicktoggles down the line..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1209853&highlight=toggle
Nice discussion in your linked post! I like the toggles on the right hovering over the tiles when swiping to the right or with a little button underneath the -> (right arrow on the right)
Also the idea to have them on the app-list screen is a good one...
This has to be addressed. We need a petition and send it to MS!
They surely has some ideas in the works themselves, but probably far down on the todo-list.
there is a xap which i try but it doesn't work for my nodo. Can't remember the website.
The Wifi toggle should be in the topbar directly.
I can't believe that it is currently so complicated to turn on/off Wifi...
I know. That's kept me from setting up my work's wifi network on there. It's not worth the effort to turn it off when I need to get somewhere blocked by our filter.
I would also rather like to see the ability to choose specific BT profiles. I have a car stereo that supports Bluetooth. While the A2DP is useful, the handsfree on it pretty much sucks. Problem is that every call I make or receive ends up jumping over to the hands free and I have to go back in and turn off the headset.
Just leave WiFi on, I never turn it off. I used WiFi both at home and at work and WiFi uses less then the mobile network. I do agree a toggle would be good or at least enable pinning settings items to start and/or apps list.

These shortcuts are only working on OMNIA 7 (maybe Focus).
If there are interested OMNIA 7 users here a link to all under Mango working OMNIA 7 shortcuts: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15364970&postcount=163

And what about the rest of the toggles that we want?
It wont be pretty having them all up there, too cluttered for this OS.
