SD 256MB memory corruption. - MDA II, XDA II, 2060 Accessories

I deleted the contents of my SD card on my XDAII. This seems to have corrupted the memory card to the point that I can't re-format it using a card reader on my PC. This has left me with a unusable 256MB memory card. I would appreciate you help regarding this matter.

Harry

SD card was 2GB and now :(

hi all
i have 2GB SD card
i put it in digital camera and format it
now it readed as 1GB
is there any sw that format SD to specific size coz when i try fromat it , it formated as 1 GB
best regards
MAK
Get an SD usb reader for your pc, destroy the partition in windows system manager. (Rightclick on 'My Computer' and choose Manage.) Go to the disk manager, and destroy the 1GB partition, and recreate your 2GB, -OR- make another 1GB partition along side it. The camera should ignore one or the other, and just use one of them, so you can have your phone use the other and be able to read the camera's data.
Have fun.
the problem is that windows see it in disk manager as 1GB only
seems the cam make something wrong in the card and not detect anymore as 2 GB
any sw to do reformat again
use resco file explorer on your ppc. the camera foramtted it to 1gb because that will be the maximum size sd it can handle!
http://www.resco.net/pocketpc/explorer/default.asp
just install resco, tap and hold on the storage card then hit format!!
2gb sd card is back!
Have you already tried low level format?
I recommend utility called "Pocket Mechanic", but for sure there are more programs that you can use for that.
Where did you get your 2gb minisd from?
Still not sure if I wanna trust the ones from ebay. Should I wait until Sandisk releases their 2gb minisd version?

mini-sd issues

I've got some interesting issues with my sandisk 2G mini-sd card...
When saving camera photos directly to SD, I consistently get file sizes of 0b. When trying to open these files I get, of course, failures.
At first, I thought my sd is bad... However, I can copy picture files taken with the same program from the internal memory into the sd card and view them without problems both on the phone and using external readers. So it seems the sd is not bad after all.
Any thoughts? I have no idea how to approach this further... in additional directions or tests anyone?
Thanks!

have you tried to format the SD card with an external reader? i have a 1GB sandisk with no problems at all...
also try to copy from the pc to the SD in the phone a big file (30-40 MB) ,i have read that there are some issues with the mini-SDs and you can identify these issues if you cannot copy big files in the mini-SD from the computer...

4MB SD memory card

My Qtek 9000 cannot recognize 4GB SD card (DANE-ELETC)
Your help much appreciated.

I guess you mean 4Gb SD Card.
Is it SDHC?
If so, then it would be worth looking in the Universal accessories board at what people have to say, which is 'no' for the sdhc cards.
I bought a 4 Gb card but it is a non-sdhc type so that it would work.
Cheers

I can't seem to find the manufacturer's website. Can you post the the spec sheet of the model you have got?

Exactly...I'm using a 4Gb transcend non-HC and it's works find ...!! I heard about problems concerning the SDHC for the universal... Maybe you should change your SD
Transcend 4GB 'SD' card getting corrupted repeatedly
I have one annoying problem,It is the third time that my Transcend 4GB SD card got corrupted without any reason ( as far as I know ).
It goes like this --I just moved one .jpg image ( clicked with my Universal ) from main memory to card -- a my document--my pictures folder, then I checked it ,the entire my document folder is empty..around 150 MB.No data recovery tool can retrieve it.
The default file explorer and Resco explore read the card differently --950 Mb and 1100 MB respectively. The data is gone, the space 150 MB is gone.On previous two occasions, there was not any transfer of any data from device to card yet it happened .I had the card replaced, but it is very annoying to live in this impending possibility of losing the data.
What is the cause of this problem?WM6?Universal?ROM?4GB?Transcend?
I never had this problem with 1 GB cards. What is the solution? Please suggest something, anything.
There are a couple of WM6 roms which can corrupt your SD card.
But it shouldn't make a difference if you have a 512 mb card or 4 gb.
Did you upgrade to WM6 and then got the 4gb card?
You could try to flash back to the original wm5 rom from your manufacturer, good change the problem's gone then.
ROM change?
No Sir,
I did have this problem with WM5 and to get rid of it I shifted to WM6,but the problem persists.Other people with WM5/6 with 'NCP' 4GB are doing fine,I am also going to try it.Like I said I never had any problems with 1GB.
I like the HTML mail support in WM6 and I need it for the attachments so I'd rather keep WM6.
One more thing, the file explorer SOMETIMES shows two separate folders viz. storage card 1 & storage card 2, and in storage card 1 there are only files called mail attachments. At the same time all the today shortcuts and programmes on the card are 'uninstalled',Then I have to hard reset and install the back-up file and everything comes to normal. What does it mean? Please clarify.

This is a known issue. Sometimes the system forgets about the exixstence of SD card. You can brows here for such cases. People claim that it happens while the battery goes low or for some other reason.
However, if this happens, and some of your apps are set up for using Storage Card for saving it's data, then the system creates a folder named "Storage Card" in the main memory. Then if you softreset or recharge your device, the system finds again your SD card and tries to give it a name "Storadge Card", but this already exists, so it names it as "Storadge Card1", and so on.
Solution:
Ither delete the "Storage Card" folder from main memory or rename it as you wish, and then rename your card as "Storage Card" and softreset your device. It should help.
okay

Okay,
Thanks for explaining and the simple solution.
But a soft reset doesn't solve it,reinstalling the backup(I use SPB)does.
But what about the card getting corrupted, losing data and vanishing folders? Is there any cause and solution for it? Or should I go for another card manufacturer as decided?
i have tested 1 gig sdhc

SDHC start at 2gb, you have a normal SD.
Native universal SD driver does not support SDHC, the driver ignores CMD8 that is required for SDHC to work. I've purchased 8Gb card and can tell that after patching - Uni started to recognize it. But testing is required before publishing a patch.

Does this patch involve physically deforming the SD Card such that its lifetime warranty (lifetime warranty is applicable to some SD cards only) becomes void?

I always wished a scenario would come up where I could ask such a question and make it seem valid at the same time
How about 4GB SDHC?
If 8GB SDHC can be used then how about using a 4GB SDHC card?
And please make it possible,soon,Mamaich.Thanks.

Unable to recognize SDHC (Sandisk SDHC 8GB)

Hello everybody, I've just bought my new Galaxy s, so I've put my old sd card into the phone but, surprise, the sd results unreadable and it's impossible to format. On the contrary, if i try to plug the sd card into an usb port of my PC: no problem.
The card was working very well till now on my samsung omnia.
Anybody encountered problem on sd card?
Is there a way to make the card readable again to the galaxy s?
thanks in advance...
my SD card is:
SanDisk Mobile Ultra® microSDHC™
the 16 GB sandisk micro sdhc card i just got in yesterday (and returned) came with a small 66k "media manager" program (full name "sandisk media manager") that one of the steps was for the user to select the actuall make/model of phone you wanted the media to format the card to or for
you might try sandisk's web and see if that program is available for download -
it installed on my computer, so i saved it for the next card, but, in case that helps
SOLVED!
Thank's for the tip.
I wasn't able to find the Sandisk tool, anyway I installed a software from HP to format the SD Card in FAT 32 filesystem, and .. it worked!
The sofwater is HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool (SP27608.exe), maybe it can be useful to others...
cheers

Internal sd card who prevent application exportation to real sd card

Hi everyone,
My friends who's making a world tour on bike just bought a smartphone to help him in his journey.
The MTT Smart Robust (can't put the exact link but it's easy to find on google)
We added a sim card of 64GB in it and tried to move applications on it because the internal memory is only of 4 GB.
We encountered a surprise when inside the phone there were an internal memory of 2GB, a phone memory of 2GB and the SD card.
And when we try to export the applications they never end up on the SD card.
Can you explain to us how to bypass the phone memory which looks like an other sd card (and act like one since the exportation of the applications ends up on it) ?
Because, we are trying to install application with offline maps and also google traduction offline. 4GB is not enough
Thansk in advance for your answer !
Sorry to up this topic but we could really use some help
Isn't there a way to bypass this intermediate phone memory to use the real sd card to export the applications ?
Thanks in advance.
Why not replace the phone memory with the new sd card, just copy everything on phone memory to the new sd card first...
Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Thanks Talsadus, but the phone and internal memory are not accessible. That's the trick.
I don't know what the people who made this phone tried or if it's a normal doing but The only accessible sd card is the one we put. there are no other place. : /
If you go into Settings->Storage can you unmount the Internal SD Card that is acting as external SD Card?
Sent from my GT-I9500 using XDA Forums Pro.
We just look and there's no button to umount the phone memory which plays as an external sd card.
The phone is not rooted and I kind of don't want to do it because my friend just bought it. (for the warranty)
