New features on the forum - General Topics

They're both pretty obvious, but I added a 'View posts of last day' to the options on the top right, and there is now a filter option when viewing the list of topics on a forum. Give 'em a try...

quick touchflo 2d question

hi all,
quick little question for the wise wizards around here:
i'm using touchflo 2d on my kaiser, and i very often accidentally go into the date/alarm settings by tapping (with my finger mostly) the clock on the home tab of touchflo.
i know i know, why not just lock the keys, but sometimes i'm just carrying my phone from room to room and i don't want to turn the keylock on, or press the power button. i've taken a look around the registry, and while i see ways to customize other parts of touchflo, i can't find anyway to change that mapping. so my question is, is there anyway to change the mapping so that tapping the clock just does nothing as opposed to launching the date/alarm app?
thanks in advance to all,
shammyh
[to mods: sorry in advance if this is in the wrong forum, wasn't sure if it was rom development or software appropriate]
You should be sorry, because you don't read. Right at the top of this forum it says ***READ BEFORE POSTING***
Must have missed this one too...
"We are all here for the same reason, to squeeze every ounce of fun and power from our device. Be kind, and contribute."
Now I'm left feeling I've done something wrong, and rather than a helpful response, enlightening me on where i faltered so that i don't make the same mistake again, i'm left with a slightly combative and in no way helpful response.
As the mod responsible for the "READ ME" at the top of the forum. I want to say two things.
Be nice Everyone.
And to Shammy... You would be best served to get a great answer if instead of creating a new thread, you posted in the Manilla2D thread. Its where are the Manilla Brain Masters are.
Thanks Have a great day.
[Software would have been the appropriate forum]

Lets vote for a Sticky Icons thread!

like the title says...if you feel like me...just vot for it...and i hope the moderator gona make one.
i think it would be nice if we had a Sticky thread for icons...there gona be links and preview of icons to all post with sets of icons like mine set.
so what do you think?
Definitely a good idea! Especially considering the many many useless threads that get created each day. Love your icons btw.
I'll vote for that!
+1 Vote for all icon packs to be compile into a single thread & always updated.
me too would like this, also slider tab icons.
I will create a sticky later today with a section for icon sets, a section for taskbar mods, a section for themes and a section for general screen mods. If anyone can help with ideas or links to any of the threads then post them here and I will compile them.
I will start with a simple Title and link with maybe a screenshot and see how it goes from there. I was looking into doing this anyway as its soo hard to find what you are looking for in here as soo many new threads are created every day.
Any help is welcomed
Mark.

Stickie created in Themes and Apps section to pull everything together.
I have put some of you in there already but if you have anything else you want to go in then post a link in that thread and I will add it to the relevent sections.
Hope it makes things alot more ordered and easier for everyone to find.
Thread is *HERE*

(Request) Split this subforum to 2 sub ones

Its really not easy to browse as is at the current state :/
There is 1 app post for ever 15 skin or icon posts..Its really hard to browse "whats new" , heck even the clock topics for cht must be over 50 by now!
So my suggestion is to split the "HD2 Themes and Apps " subforum to "HD2 Themes and iconsets " and "HD2 Apps and moded apps" or something similar to that..or even further split the App part into
1)office and keyboard
2)multimedia apps and encoding
3)gaming
4)Mods and OS Maintenance
5)GPS and mapping
6)Social Networking related
e.t.c a la marketplace
I wouls love to see our beloved forum organised this way and believe would also save time to many many members that cannot find what they are looking for. and much less "is there an app for doing XYZ ?"
Just my 2 Cents..If this was decided to be adopted i would volunteer to help organizing it in any way i could. Thank you.

Would make life much easier here
I fully agree - Needs splitting down for better organization !
Add my vote to this as well please.
I agree to split skins/themes and apps
I don´t agree. I wouldn´t look in 3 or more Subforums to see all new threads.
1 big Forum is good. After leaving the forum i marked it as read and later i see only the new one.
Thats good as it is
+1
It would make things easier
Agree. It's hard to browse like this =)
Good Idea.
Meh too bad i forgot to put a poll as well...now with edit there seems to be no option to add one..
Nevermind found it !
Totally agree with this idea too !
I have seen it done elsewhere where there is a sub forum that contains all items in the catergory and then there is another sub forum that contains all the same apps catergorised into further more specific sub forums. everything new gets added to the general forum before it is catergorised. This is great in that if your just looking around for something cool and new you can look in general and then if you need something more specific you can go through the categorised ones. He is a picture of what i mean.
Catergories A and B may be divided to sub catergories beyond that but you get the idea
Great idea, I totally agree
split please
Agree totally.
i disagree and agree with "icefreunde"
when i'm interested in apps and themes and ...and... and... , then i have to check 3 or more sub-forums in order to be up-to-date.
and believe me, we germans know what being "over-organized" means
+1, I agree. It would be great to look through apps seperately on those occasions when I'm temporarily happy with my theme.

LOOOOL
+1 ! Split !
Agree!
Split into:
1. Themes ('skins', icons, clocks, sliders, wallpapers etc.)
2. Apps (new apps, modded apps etc.)
Great idea, it's a mess right now

ListView Scrolling

I'm putting in code to allow color changes as user wants for background and some text items. I also have a custom array adapter.
When setting the background to say, BLUE, and when they hit the screen to scroll, the whole background goes BLACK while scrolling. This is particularly annoying when the text is BLACK as it disappears.
Do I need to set the background to the color selected in "onItemClick()"?
Thoughts?
TIA,
Roots

Yes. On each item click, you need to implement case switch methods. Similarly compared to basic language, on x= do this etc.....

Thanks Simon, I appreciated the link Works great!
@Mulcahyd "Yes. On each item click, you need to implement case switch methods. Similarly compared to basic language, on x= do this etc."
My question was about scrolling a custom list adapter and the color changing, not how to handle an on-click listener.

Here is the third item on page one of THIS forum, a sticky:
"[ATTN] : Read before posting - Any questions posted here will be MOVED or CLOSED"
So, I don't post questions or problems in "Development", and then, I don't post questions in "Android Software and Hacking General" or they'll be moved or closed?
I sent you a PM about this as it's very confusing.
TIA,
Roots

App Suggestion A quick way to watch/share a forum

When viewing a forum (like this one) there should be a (quick) way to watch/share the forum. Currently, we need to open the breadcrump link to go one level higher to find the watch button (pic)
I suggest adding the option in the "Add Thread" menu next to "start discussion"
Thank you.
I think we need to add "watch forum" to thread preview next to the share button.

Take into consideration that not everybody has thread preview activated in settings.
