Hi,
does anybody know, if the TomTom Navigator work on an MDA2. I've got my MDA2 since monday and i am not able to get TomTom Navigator (Version2 incl. the newest Updates) running. The installation-process works fine, but if I start the installed software, I get the lovely circling wheel in the middle of the screen...and that's all...hmmm...so, does anybody got a working installation of tomtom2 on an MDA2 or an XDA2 ???
Next question:
Does anybody have experiences with a Bluetooth-GPS-Mouse on a MDA2 (maybe this question is not very important, if the answer of the question above will be nefative ;-)
greets from frankfurt / germany
roberto
There's a thread on Bluetooth GPS and the XDA II/MDA II (http://xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3341)
in which there is an answer to both your questions.
Haven't seen anything new lately on either topic:
- Tom Tom with any kind of GPS
- Bluetooth GPS
I had the same problem, then I tried a different SD (128 instead of 256) card for map storage and it works. I remember TomTom having the same problems with Ipaq 5450’s until HP issued a fix.
I’ve just ordered a Bluetooth GPS.. Looks like I’ve got more problems ahead.

Please keep us informed, regardless if the Bluetooth GPS fails or not..
By the way: I read a review of the new Toshiba E800 PDA (which has a 480x640 screen  and beautiful indigo color (finally something else)) and the author mentioned testing the PDA with a Rikaline Bluetooth GPS receiver.
At first, he had difficulties connecting the Toshiba and the Rikaline, but managed to solve it by setting TomTom to 'Bluetooth Card' instead of 'COM6'.....
Might be worth a try :?:
Take care :!:
There is no 'Bluetooth Card' setting on Navigator 2.
I still can't get it to work.

 I guess it has to do with the Bluetooth Manager of the Toshiba then...
Nothing left but wait for Tom Tom updates and more MDA2 Bluetooth profiles
Somebody101, will you try something, install maps to main memory and see if that works, I know you can only install a portion but I would be interested to hear the results.

Hi all,
I have just bought a tomtom bluetooth gps system, I can bond to the gps receiver ok, but it just wn't connect. There is deffinately a connection during the bonding process but that is it, it never connects again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Steve
If its anything like the EMTAC then it needs to be considered as a serial port...
Have you tried changing the connection settings in the GPS icon? Default prob to Com1, so try changing.
I can't remember the options 'cos I haven't got it installed myself until later today - but using an EMTAC obviously

I think the problem is that the xdaII doesn't support a bluetooth serial port profile. I have tried virtually everything and had no luck.
Please keep me posted on how you get on, I really hope we can get this sorted or I will have a gps reciever paper weight.
Steve
Hmm
Due to the nature of yesterday, it wasn't until midnight (GMT) that I could get to have a play with my XDA II & EMTAC BTGPS (& I wasn't sober )
Installed TTN2 and tried to connect - not a sauasage
There "seems" to be something using COM6 and as such TTN2 can't use that as the path to the EMTAC - check box in the GPS options won't check. Turn off BT & you can check the box, but it won't connect as something else obviously can't use it either :? Dunno - I'm not a programmer but I'm going to have to check this out.
I'll speak to a contact @ EMTAC & see if they have been sucessful in bonding to an XDA II (HTC2?) & if so how. Otherwise I'll keep on playing with it & see what I can find out.
Anyone else got any tips or ideas what might be the way of resolving this?
Have you tried turning off the "receive incoming beams" under settings/connections, that may or may not free up the first com port.
I know someone with the same problem. O2 have told him that Tom Tom are working on a new version of software to fix this specific issue and it will be downloadable from the TT site. They couldn't say when.
xdaguru
Beam off did seem to allow me to connect to COM6 but not for my device Might be worth trying Steve because TT Wireless was one I could connect to.
IIRC from iPaq Bluetooth Manager, you had to bring up the device options once bonded and then select a serial connection. Pocket Loox as well. The BT Manager in the XDA II is very basic. So I do wonder if its a TT soluble solution or does it need an upgrade to the BT Manager?
If its a problem soluble by TT then I'm prehaps more hopeful
Sorry to go off topic but I wonder if this is the same PTMW that I know?
How you doin m8?
Hello Danny
Yes it is I
Can't be that many PTMW!'s about
All's well & I'll catch you on the other side one day
Yeah I guessed there could be only one PTMW
I take it you're lucky enough to have an XDA2 already? I always knew u were a gaget fan like myself. I have a month left on my XDA1 contract
Hopefully Tom Tom will have the problem ironed out by then as I have TTN2 aswell.
Pay us a vist on Scoobycity soon. Alots changed and we're alot bigger now
Any bluetooth GPS working with the XDA2 ??
Is there anyone who got the XDA2 working with a bluetooth GPS ? I am very eager to get one (both the XDA2 and a bluetooth GPS) but I would like to hear from some who got a combination working .
Thanks,
Marco
Its being looked into Marco
It may be that the BT Manager may not have various BT options enabled, so it may need a software update/patch from O2.
Spoke to O2 this morning.
They are "aware that not everything works with BT" and are working on a software update.
No timescale offered
I have an Emtac and was going to buy the XDAii to replace my Loox but without this bluetooth connectivity I will save my money. However interestingly it does say on the XDA website...
...or use TomTom Bluetooth with Xda II and cut down the amount of wires in your car

TomTom and Bluetooth
The fault with the TomTom software and Bluetooth lies solely in TomTom's software. TomTom have recognised this and are aggresively working to fix the problem.
The TomTom GPS software doesn't know to read the details of the virtual com port. So give them some time to fix the problem....
Where did this info come from? do you have a link? I had heard that it was to do with the Bluetooth GPS itself not the TomTom software? If you're in the know, could you do a little expaining for a half-wit like me?
Hi
I too have just upgraded to the XDA II from the Ipaq 3970, and I also have an Emtac BTGPS.
Speaking to O2 it appears they used to support the TomTom BTGPS but do not any more.
It would be very interesting to find out if any one has a TomTom BTGPS and can serial link it to the XDA II

The fact you're able to bond with the unit shows that bluetooth is working correctly.
The issue is that the tomtom software can't read com6: (which is where bt is hiding) or do anything with it, because of the way the software works.
This is because the Bluetooth manager on Xda II is from MICROSOFT, whereas on other devices it's manufacturer specific. As far as I know this is the first ever deployment of the MS Bluetooth stack directly.
Speaking to O2 it appears they used to support the TomTom BTGPS but do not any more.

Then why do they say they support TomTom on their website? Seems like a few people at O2 dont really know what's going on?
I've not known that O2 has ever supported EMTAC BTGPS 'cos the XDA (1) didn't have bluetooth support :?
Surely it is the BT manager that is at fault? Not allowing the a serial connection from the manager to the Emtac?
TomTom is looking to read Com6 (when told to) but the info its getting is not sufficient or mapable.
I've run BTGPS with a TDK B/tooth card and it needs to be told (as do other managers) to make a serial connection to the BT device.
Test for someone (I'll try & do it too)
Find an alternate mapping software that *should* accept a BTGPS device & try to connect...
Hi Guys
Before you go and spend your money on tom tom 5, if you have an xda2i it's not compatible and tom tom won't supoort it. I've only found this out after buying the tt5 upgrade.
I can't get it to see the gps device on outgoing com port 6 on my xda2i.
Got a Fortuna Clip On BT GPS
Lost all the will to live with this now, feel like selling my xda2i.
Any help before it goes on ebay?
thanks
jase
Just got TomTom 5 for my XDA IIi as well. I've got the wired TT GPS receiver and all I get is no GPS device. I've set TT to the right receiver type but can't see anyway of changing the com port to use.
Any ideas? or like you am I screwed
I have an xda2i with TT5 and BT GPS receiver...works fine.
Or at least as good as with TT3. TT5 seems to turn off BT once it's been closed though, bit annoying.
Didn't have any problems with installing it though.

Which BT GPS Receiver are you using?
Can you go through which settings in TT5 did u use, what's your outgoing com port etc.

I've tried this and it doesn't work.
Bluetooth app locks my outgoing com port to port 6. Does this need to be changed?
Thanks

untick recieve all incoming beams under connections
It was already unticked mate.
I have a QTEK 9090 with a BT antenna from TT3.
I simply installed TT5 over TT3 and everything worked right away.
Only problem is that in many screens, the onscreen keyboard is missing so I have to use the slideout keyboard. I expect them to fix that but it's really not that big a problem.
you have an xda2-s?
tom tom 5 is compatible with that but the xda2i isn't according to tom tom.
I am running Tom Tom 5 with the GreatBritain-Map on and XDA 2i with an "Aktronix" Bluetooth GPS reciever and it works absolutly with no problems whatsoever
My GPS reciever isnt paired and uses COM 6:
Tom Tom turns the bluetooth on by itself so my bluetooth is set to off usually.
I dont have a bluetooth headset.
Hi Danny
You saying that you didn't pair your gps receiver in with your xda2i first in the bluetooth manager?
Thanks
tomtom5 and xda2i
Have aked tomtom if it is a problem ,since have ordered upgrade, will let you know the response!
ok was just a suggestion ,as mine works fine ,with the phone off ,i got it to work perfectly with phone on made a call updated traffic until i put the phone in it's cradle and the gps locked it all up from then on

TOMTOM 5 Might be able to help you out IMPORTANT
Hi Guys & Gals!.. right might be able to help here... ive got a magician and I got tomtom 5 on saturday... I have the original bluetooth TOMTOM GPS and I had Tomtom 3 on the pda, I uninstalled tomtom 3 and then installed tomtom 5.. and it connected to the bluetooth reciever. Then I went off thinking it would work and it didnt connect (no GPS found), so I reintstalled again did all the bonding int bluetooth manager, and it still didnt work... so I did a hard reset which was a pain but then reinstalled tomtom 5 again.... went to work and it still didnt work so I was in the car messing about trying to get it to bond and did it all again and it didnt work!...
So just got to work (HERES THE IMPORTANT BIT) and went up to my mate whos a techie currently building the largest Oracle solution in the world) and said look this blinking things not working.. so he started proding the screen with the pen all over the place mumbling as he does and hey presto the screen was in the GPS status screen were it shows all the satelite data and he touched the bit thats says NO GPS device (its not a box its just the text) and it then came up to reset the device to finish installation and hey presto it worked!!!!! ....
SO try this if it works the bloke is a genius !....and TOMTOM have a serious floor in there software.
Post on here your findings  I keep checking it every 5 mins to see if its connecting and it is fine now.. SO FAR!
Having said that
Having said what ive just said... ive just turned it on and its now doing it again and not finding the module... dont believe it! it seems very wierd... let me know your thoughts please!
Having said that again.. ive now changed to a wired one in the configuration and selected it then gone back to the bluetooth one waited 60 seconds and clicked on the no gps device again which has reset the device and its working again! wierd.......!
I've tried both Helmis and Ibashas 3.5 ROMS and they are brilliant, but I have one issue with both that I cannot solve.
How do I configure TT6 with BT GPS - I also use a BT headset.
Tried to follow the "old" TT5 manual for Universal and TT5 from this forum, but I cannot select outgoing port to 8.
I've tried outgoing port to 4 and program port 5 and it works ok.
Problem arises when I pair my BT headset also, if it is switched on, when I start TT there is no connection to the GPS, and consequently TT cannot find any satelittes.
Switch off the headset and restart TT and everything is fine again.
A few times it has happened that I get the BT pairing dialog box up after a while with TT started (headset on!) and has entered the passkey again.
So I wonder what settings I should use to be able to use both BT headset and TT6 with a BT antenna, anyone seen/solved this??????
I've tried 2 dif. BT headsets and 2 diff. GPS mice with both ROMS.
Best regards
/Henrik
Nobody experienced this or know how to solve it?
Waiting....
Ok, so nobody knows?
I will try on Buzznet then.

I read in tom tom website, tom tom 6 is not compatible with all device. For example in my case, I use O2 XDA II . Unfortunately tom tom 6 doesn't work with my device so I still use tom tom 5.21
Actually TT6 works exceptionally well with your device, which is the same as mine! - If it wasn't for this BT headset issue that is, it actually think it runs faster and smoother than it does on my JasJar!
But if you want to run it in landscape mode, you have to have either WM 2003 2. edition or even better WM5 in order to be able to use landscape (TT6 doesn't have that facility anymore).
And then you get the issue with the BT headset, which I reckon someone must know how to solve, even if it is a bit strange, nobody gives me any answers, not here and not on XDA-Developpers.
I would so much like to know if this is a known issue with this device and WM5, or if it is too trivial a question for anyone to bother to answer??????

Hi all
First post here so apologies if this has already been asked and answered...I haven't been able to find it.
I've just upgraded my O2 Orbit 1 for an O2 Orbit 2 to gain the remote sim access profile (rsap) that my VW Passat's hands-free system needs.
I also have Tom Tom Navigator on my Orbit 2.
Here's the question:
when my phone's paired with the car, I have no problems making or taking calls but when I switch on the Sat Nav, while the connection between the handset and the car doesn't appear to be lost, the phone signal is.
Anyone have any thoughts on this?
Thanks
John
Hi Guys,
I've got the same problem with my Artemis an the blutooth premium of my golf.
The pairing with the phone is lost when i switch on tomtom.
Did you find a solution ?
Same problem as Lolo and did not find any solution until now.
Use McGuider
As far as the problem comes from tomtom and not from the GPS usage, we can use other navigation software like McGuider. I have tested, and it works fine.
I asked tomtom about this problem but no matter the problem is within their software. They did not want to know anything about it because their sofware continues working (is the rsap who goes down).
Tomtom is OK

the tomtom work fine with htc touch2
You shouldn't post warez links on here or you'll get barred!
If you like tomtom, have a search for Sygic Mobile Maps 10 - it's like a newer version of TomTom, maintains its simplicity whilst adding a few extra features and being a lot smoother, unlike Igo8 which is just too complicated...

Looks like this is only a theme / skin for QVGA devices. TomTom is not freeware, so you need to buy it.
From what I read so far:
MEGA is the code name for this device, it should be oficcially called "HTC TOUCH2", not "HTC TOUCH PRO2". The latter sounds like a completely different device.
The normal edition should be T3333, T3320 is a low cost india edition without 3g, and without GPS. So I guess without a bluetooth connected GPS mouse you will not get GPS. Maybe through the GSM + Google location services you can get a rough location on google maps, but nowhere near accurate as necessary for navigation (needs GPS).
Sorry

I guess he was thinking about a bluetooth GPS mouse, not about the integrated GPS in the T3333 / Touch2 / MEGA.
Actually also Wifi and GSM can somehow be used to get a location, but not really accurate at all. Not comparable with GPS anyway, and not enough for navigation.

That is called A-GPS or assisted GPS. Can be useful in places with bad GPS signal as extra help.

Yellowfever is right: your device T3320 does not have a gps (built-in) receiver, so you can't use tomtom nor sygic mobile without an external gps receiver(connected via bluetooth)!
