Quick question bengalih,
Do you change from portrait to landscape quite often?

In terms of normal usage... not really, but I must admit I have been using my Tilt more for messing around with than actually being productive since I got it
When testing a new ROM I always do alot of mode switch tests as I like to have a quick swap.
However, for purposes of this test, I didn't switch mode at all.

alright, cool thanks.
Earlier this evening I had to reset my phone. It sat in stand by for at least 45 min and i was playing with it, using touchflo, tapping, etc. All was normal.
However, after flipping out the keyboard I noticed that it briefly started to have its freezing moments when flipping back to portrait. So perhaps this could be looked into a little.

Well not to get too off topic from the SPL issue, I will say that I have found portrait/landscape mode swapping to be very inconsistent on all ROMS. On the fastest ROMs I have tried the screen rotates in about 1 second (1 mississippi count). On the worst ROMs it is about a 3 mississippi count. However, the fast ROMs will sometimes perform at more of a 1.5-2.0 second interval and the slower ROMs will sometimes perform closer to the 1.5 marks. I don't think this has to do with what i have running etc as I will usually do these test just after a soft reset (giving the phone about 60-120 seconds to finish starting up first). But I'll leave it at that...back to the topic at hand....

These are the results of Jocky's 1.1...they are equivalent to HardSPL:
Jockey SPL (SPL-1.1.JockyW)
1588
1588
1558
1588
Average:1580
As far as the other ones you attached... HardSPL is I believe the normal OliPro one which I already tested. JumpSPL is a "soft" SPL and can't actually be flashed permanently. Correct me if I'm wrong.

As you are I am very sceptical as to how the SPL could have any affect on the OS. However I did read one interesting post in the other thread.
The poster brought up the fact that the SPL loads the OS. If the SPL improperly starts that load out before the .dlls take over it could have an effect on the OS.
So far that is the most logical reason I have heard thus far. I would love to see olipro jocky or one of the other heavy hitters weigh in on the issue.
Till then I think Ill stick with HardSPL.

I'm not a fancy-schmancy tester-roony (what? ), but I can state with certainty that my Tilt, which is currently running L26's Diamond v4 ROM, has seen major improvements since flashing to the new HTC 3.28 SPL.
With the L26 v4 ROM in particular, I was experiencing screen lag several times per minute. With the new SPL, it has not happened once!

I am almost positive that a benchmark is not going to show touch screen lag. Also, the improvement does not seam to be quantifiable, but noticeable none the less.

Fact of the matter is bengalih has been the only one I have seen to try to quantify and qualify the effects (if any) of the newer 6.1 based roms and various SPL's. I applaud his efforts, and further investigation is warranted IMHO.
Frankly, posting one-off reports of success or failure using one SPL or other using one ROM or other pale in comparison to a well documented method and means, which bengalih has at least attempted. Too often this forum relies on "Ok this is what works for me" posts, rather than sytematic efforts to determine what will work for most under such and such conditions. The results should be quantifiable and replicable. Bengalih has attempted that, suggested a process, and is asking for replication or refinement of the procedure. That is what this thread is for IMHO.
You may not like the message, but dont kill the messenger.

Back to the topic!
I dont post much but on this issue I am totally convinced that the SPL is causing issues. I started having the freezing with the official att rom 1.62 after I had been using other cooked roms and hardSPL. Just yesterday I switched back to the SPL that came with att 1.62 and I havent had a freeze at all. I am dying to hear from Pof, Jockey, Oli anyone of those that know how the SPL really works and perhaps a new version of HardSPL. So let me reiterate, no placebo here, problem solved by reverting to original spl. However I dont like being stuck with official roms.

Please qualify and quantify your results using the procedures outlined in the original post. Or maybe suggest new procedures? THEN you will be on-topic. I'm happy whatever you did works for you, however it is practically irrelevant in this thread.

I agree with most of your post.
YOU DON'T HAVE TO USE OFFICIAL ROMS TO USE OFFICIAL SPL!!!
1. HARD SPL
2. Flash L26 V4 (Cause it is the best out there)
3. Official SPL
If you want to try another ROM (but you wont, till L26 V5) simply flash HARD SPL, repeat.

The original poster tested not only two, but as many as five SPL's if I recall correctly. At-large testing is good, however your personal assessment will be drowned in another flood of "me too" and "me-not" posts. Which IMHO is counterproductive. Stick to the procedure, test, and post. Suggest changes to the procedure, test, then post. Otherwise you are just noise.

Procedure:
Device=Tilt
Use original rom.....no freezing
HardSPL OliPof
Flash Rom I tried aprox. 10 of the most popular. Then perform common tasks on each. ..... freezing occurs, non responsive screen and keys random times.
Didnt matter if it was a 6.0 rom or 6.1 rom. Freezing occured on both but the freezes were more frequent on 6.1 roms.
Flashed updated ATT SPL and then flashed official ATT 1.62 and havent experienced a freeze in 24 hours. Note this rom did have the freezing when HardSPL was used.

Can you help me decide? WM6 ROM for old AT&T Blue, 8125 in Southern California

hello everyone!
i have been reading feverishly on all of this, and think i have some solid ideas.
Wanted to come right out and ask.
Anyone have a recommendation for me as far as which WM6 Rom to upgrade to?
My 8125 is unlocked for use with the old AT&T Blue (yes, i know, im holding on for dear life out of contract!)
Which would work best for me? (rom, radio, etc, for WM6. and do i have to unlock the CID again? same old method? or new for WM6?)
I am sick of WM5 and the issues i am having a fresh start would do it, but why not upgrade!?
appreciate any links as well.
Thanks for your advice in advance!
Dan
My findings
Hi,
It's always best to first read the tread on how to flash. Realy.
2nd flash to the latest rom from your provider .
Radio 2.19 seems to be the best in general. Others have issues in some situations. However you can flash those without hard reset. So you can try several without losing settings and stuff.
On OS my findings for wm6 are Faria's latest (no touch) or reTOUChed final. But i didn't try NBD 7.9 yet.
All respect to other cooks! these just met my needs best. It's personal.
greetings
Spinner van Webben
thanks for the input
i am trying to catch up. i used to visit this forum multiple times a day! i am trying to jump back in the scene after almost a year. thread links are a definite a plus!
can you post links for that stuff?
I have flashed before, but it was a whilllle ago
i have been eyeballing this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315178
any particulars i should take extra time to study?
i am having the battery drain issue. started up within the last month.
my current setup is as follows:
IPL 2.17
SPL 2.17
GSM 2.07.10
OS 2.17.7.2

Hey, take a look at my sig.
I've been reading through these forums for months too.
Here's my 2 cents:
You need to decide what kind of ROM you want... Touch or Crossbow
I use to love Crossbow but I found Touch and I'm in love with it...once you go with Touch you won't want to go to Crossbow anymore.
If you want Touch.. I would say NBD v7.8..it's awesome.
If you want Crossbow.. NTS v1 (jaguar) is awesome too... there is NTS v2.. but I haven't tried it.
sweet. you have the same setup i do
i am not familiar with touch or crossbow. what is the diff?
can you link me to the files i need, and/or the procedure you used to update?
thanks so much

Sorry, my friend... then you have lot of reading to do.
Espeically if you don't even know how to flash...
This is for your own good.. if you don't know what you're doing.. you might brick your phone.... meaning dead phone.
So, I advise you to start here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613
This should tell you how to flash...
Then you can start picking out what you want to flash to.
Touch: NBD: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311534
Crossbow: NTS: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314660
If you don't know the difference then try flashing them both and pick which one you like... I did... I must have flashed like dozens of time to figure out which one I liked. Also, people have different needs and preference so my taste in ROMs might not fit your needs too.
Just because you flash a new ROM doesn't mean everything's going to work... we'd want them to but sometime it's now.. so, without knowing what you did you won't probably enjoy the new ROM.
Try to enjoy this learning process.. otherwise, I'd say don't even bother because you're gonna have hell of a time trying to get everything just right.
I'm not trying to be mean.... just trying to help.
I'll try to help anyone if I can.. just like everyone else in this forum.
PS. I go here to see the list of threads for WM6 Wizard (8125).. I try to keep up with it but can't..so, I just focus on what I like.

I do know how to flash!
i flashed it before, but i am not up to speed with the new stuff.
to make my phone ideal, stable, and the best it can be,
which version recommendations do you suggest for, rom, radio, etc.
how should i set the phone up? which rom should i download and is there a particular place you can link me to download?
if i just know WHAT i want to, which versions, etc, i can read up, search and do all that myself. i just dont know what would be ideal for me right now
i am having a problem with the 8125 where i will be talking and it will just shut off and start rebooting, and keep rebooting. die, reboot. with full battery.
then when i plug it in to the stock charger, it will come on, but the battery reads in at like 6-15%,
is this the battery?
it started acting up when i spilled a little water on it last week!

I am in SC with ATT (Cingular) and a 8125 G4 and am having good results with XDA Mobile 6 Release 2a Full Version. I started flashing without unlocking the CID but it was a pain so I went ahead and unlocked it, but it is not necessary and there are some great step by step instructions in the forum. I followed the instructions and even though I am a newbie I haven't bricked my phone.

Oh.. in that case.. just like my sig says, I use NBD v7.8 right.. gonna flash to v7.9 soon.. man, thast zoki guy is fast and good.
go here and you'll find bunch of he's ROMs... I found that v7.4 & v7.8 is most stable, for me at least.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=311534
For Radio.. the UK T-Mobile 2.19 is most stable from what I hear and experienced.
I've only tried 2.69 with ipl/spl 3.08.. but didn't work out.. I started missing calls.
There are group of people who's trying to figure out which Radio is the best in this forum... so, look in there time to time.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=312834&page=22
When flashing I always try to flash to T-Mobile 2.26 first.. then flash UK T-mobile 2.19.. then whatever ROM I want.. this way I start fresh all the time.
About your battery... well, I'm no expert but it might be with your battery... don't know.. I bet that water did do some damage.. if it's still under warrenty I would try getting a replacement for the phone first... then, if it still doesn't work then try getting new battery. Other then that, I don't know much about battery... good luck!

New Builds TouchFlo & Touchscreen Responces Problems. [SOLVED!!!!!!!!!]

I have have problems listed below with new build roms :-
- Missplaced effect to screen taps i.e. press htc home tab instead effects plugin below like calender pops up, or when using the on screen keyboard it enders the letter below the one i select.
- When doing a finger 'flick' or 'drag' scrolling in for example programs menu, when i begin it on a program icon, which on older builds would be ok, in newer builds, it will begin to scroll but the program will also be activated.
- Also when scrolling on file explorer, if i hold my figer on screen while scrolling up, the hold menu (one that pop's up when you select and hold on a file) will pop up. This while its actually scrolling.
Notes
-I do perform hard resets after every flash even just radio flashing.
-I have performed several realignment of the screen.
-Tried all possible radios compatible with the roms.
-Tried reflashing oem rom then back to wanted roms.
-Tried redoing Hardspl.
Solution
Using Kaisertweak here attached change TouchFlo Sensitivity to Normal.
yet again no help yet new 'best rom' threads still get replies 'sigh' well whatever.
i have 1.65.20.29 but haven't had any problems that u decribe.
you *HAVE* to use a compatible ROM. You can't just toss it against any WM6 or even WM6.1 ROM. If the ROM wasn't intended to be used with a 1.65 radio, you WILL HAVE PROBLEMS.
What ROM are you using?
-Mc
I am using the radio's specified for the roms all the new builds = 1.65.xx.xx right? unless its hybrid, in on NoThrills build .19202 that only works with 1.65.xx.xx roms as well as every other .19202+ unless some hybrids e.g. dutty's, and all of them as long as i use that build of radio gives me above problems. I do know my stuff on radio - rom compatibility
Sorry I don't know how after all these replies and nobody has stepped up to say I find it VERY hard to believe ANY of those problems would be caused by the radio. Enough Said.
**I see you finally re-edited your post after all this time, and REALLY YOU THINK???? Someone with a post count of yours should have know from the start**
For the screen issue, try and re-align your screen. Start/settings/system/screen/align screen.

- When scrollling with touch flo still selects program you place finger on while scrolling.
- E-mail accounts deleted (one happened once recently dunno if it could be with the radios)
I've tried posting in rom threads of this problem and got nothing except that knowone else seemed to have the problem? if these are new radio for new build would any new official releace builds have such radios? and if so could i have a hardware problem? would i need to replace my device? i have an MDA Vario III is it that the builds are originally ATT.

I dont have said problem with dutty's roms since they are hybrid and so allowing me to use any radio problem isn't with the rom its radio just newer builds only work with the problem radios if i try a different radio with the roms buit to work only with the problem radios apart from camera and sound issues i don't have any problems with them, (any problems i mentioned above) thats why i say my problems are because of the radio.

I'm not entirely sure what you just said, but even on the hybrid only one version is compatible wiht the new radios. That's why there are 2 versions of each rom that he made of the V2 Hybrid. One for the 1.65.xx.xx radios and one for all the other radios, a cube, non-cube, and lite version for each radio.

Yes 150% sure + Camera and sound worked fine, its not just with dutty's roms it's with all new builds iv tried NoThrills, TNT professional and vanilla, Hyperdragon and the newer PDAVIET ones.
i had a problem
my cell was making a static sound with the 1.65 radio and I am using dutty's v2 with no cube. I think it's not compatible with the rom, i went back to polaris 1.58.21.23. It's the best rom for me, although i still get calls in which the calling party can hear me while i cannot hear them (maybe every 2 out of 10 calls i receive).
Any Help from the senior members?
So nothing i can do?
Any tips on telling your carrier my device has a problem only noticeable through the use of custom roms and radios.
Which Hardspl have people used from looking around it seems they are two which is the more common one? only post if you are using 1.65.xx.xx radio with no problems .. thats probably everyone else using the radio ( Yes desperation is setting in)
Help experts plz
On the new 'official' rom with a 1.65.xx.xx radio which flashes both rom and radio and to work i would have already carried out a hardspl so the problems aren't down to me HELP! and for the record problem only there with 1.65.xx.xx radios yes i am sure i have carried out tests and i only have the problem with these radios so don't patronize me plz.

Could SPL create ROM issues?

I saw this post over at the new 6.1 ROM thread and I couldn't avoid thinking that it makes a lot of sense. This is the post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2228205&postcount=203
I didn't want the post to be lost inside all the new 6.1/Video accel questions and complaints so I opened up this post. Mods feel free to close this post if it's redundant.
So I'm running Jocky's SPL as per the procedure to get out of the radio from hell (thanks for your efforts man!) and I loaded L26's Diamond ROM and noticed it started freezing for around 5 secs and then coming back. This morning I flashed to Dutty's new Diamond-based ROM and holy hell it was freezing for 10secs or more at a time. Before these two I was running an AT&T that ran fine, slow as hell, but never froze on me.
I'm running the HTC Official 6.1 now and I'll try it over the weekend and see if I get the same issue. Don't get me wrong; This post is not for me to find a ROM that doesn't freeze on my phone but rather investigate if there's any correlation between those random lockups and the SPL.
I remember having this issue with the Hermes depending on the ROM but never really thought about the SPL having anything to do with it.
Is this something worth investigating?
Mine also froze on the L26 & Dutty Diamond ROMS. I'm currently running the Death ROM beta and it's performing beautifully.
According to my device my SPL Version is:
SPL-1.0.OliPof

Orange Kaiser Upgrade of but REALLY Slow Now ;-(

Hi Guys, took the plunge and installed the HTC wm6.1 update on my 3month old UK Orange Branded Tytn.
TBH it was ok before - but i just wanted to see if it would be any quicker and fancied the threaded SMS as i used it on my n95 and it was easier to keep track of conversations. First problem was it would not run HardSPL and i got the white screen problem that i cured by following these instructions..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=354061
I have been now able to install the new rom okay, BUT it is as slow as hell (I thought the orange firmware was bad lol) seems to be ok then it just jams - sometimes for a good few seconds. bit of a pain. The keyboard Touch screen and any buttons dont do anything, sometimes for up to 30s, then it all catches up with all the buttons iv pressed during the freeze ect being actioned, a nightmare.
I tried one of Duttys ROMS (Must say im very impressed with his work!!!) BUT Same problem as before the thing just freezes for a few seconds (doesnt crash - just freezes) its a pain trying to browse or send tst messages.
Have I done anything wrong in the upgrade, or is it "Orange care time"?
did u remember to hard reset ur device after flash?
Thanks for the reply,
I just ran the JumpSPL program then ran the rom exe file(S) The thing is fine, just as slow as hell - having to resort to my old n95 now ;-(
I didnt do a hard reset after i updated the rom, just activsync`d it and set it up
do a hard reset it should improve your rom spead. Some times when you flash a new rom and don't do hard reset files of the old rom are still on device and cause conflicts with the new rom that is why a hard reset is almost highly recommended after a rom flash.
Don't forget to back up your contacts, messages, documents on device as a hard reset will erase everything except spl, os, rom, radio.
good luck
ill give that a try, thanks
Can you let us know what ROM's you're running.
I'm on Orange (UK) and mine is much faster than the stock ROM now.
Do you have any other software running on it ? SPB Mobile Shell sometimes slows things down ...
Read my signature for the ROM's I'm using on the Orange Tytn II.
hi,
Where did you download the ROM from? The one from the HTC website only gives me the option to download Norwegian version....any ideas?
Thanks
EDIT I've jst downloaded RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship - Is that the ROM you used?
Just flashed my HTC TyTN II Orange, with the above ROM & everything is O.K at the moment, woo. lol
Iv tried the "Genuine"
RUU_Kaiser_HTC_WWE_3.28.405.0_radio_sign_25.83.40.02_1.65.16.25_Ship
and Duttys
Duttys_Ruu_Signed_5.2.19585_1_65_16_25_test
Tried doing a hard reset as suggested and im not running any other apps. Iv reflashed a couple of times today and both are still causing the same symptoms - touch screen suddenly not as responsive then the tytn freezes completely for a few secs, then its fine for a while.

I think the clue is in the title "...test'.
Dutty dropped off the scene for a couple of weeks due to work pressure and came back to play with the new 'official' ROM's.
The test ROM, is just that !! it's for testing. I would never suggest anyone with a posting score of less than 100 attempt to put TEST ROM's on their Tytn II ... There's already been some issues with Radio's that won't allow downgrading etc.
The test ROM has reports showing issues of a similar nature to those you mention.
I would suggest you re-install a more 'mainstream' ROM at this stage and wait for the test ROM to become stable.
I've had no problems with Dutty's Official WM6.1 5.2.19209 Rom or Polaris Radio 1.64.08.21 Radio, although I may upgrade to the 1.65.16.25 Radio in the next couple of days.
As a rule of thumb, problematic radios exhibit poor signal strength, sound issues and problems with GPS. The issues you mention are often associated with the OS rom, in this case the Duttys_Ruu_Signed_5.2.19585_1_65_16_25_test rom.
Even if changing just the OS Rom, it might be worth downloading, and installing them seperately again - Remebering to Hard Reset after each install.
Backup all your contacts etc. to your SD card with PIM Backup 2.8 before you do anything and remember to remove the SD card before you begin.

I've flashed my Orange Tytn2 and a friends without issue using the 'official' 6.1 rom that was posted on Modaco.
I didn't hard reset afterwards and both units are working fine. Maybe try flashing your device on a different pc?
As far as i was aware the title of this posting was "Orange Kaiser Upgrade of but REALLY Slow Now ;-( "
tbh i dont think you really got the gist of my post, i WAS saying i had problems with the STOCK ROM, and that i had also tried duttys rom (I was very impressed with it), If you read my posting i think you will realise i simply commented it was showing they SAME symptoms on my phone. My problem was NOT with duttys rom (btw i DID notice the word test in its name before i loaded it, but thanks for pointing that out), I was having problems with the flashing process in general.
Thanks anyway.

What are the symptoms ?
Have you added any other Software (i.e. programs or cabs) ?
Has the device got slower over time ?
What challenges are you having with problems with the flashing process ?
Are you using a screen protector as this reduces the touch sensitivity ?
Im not running any other programs or screen protector, the thing is fine for a minute or so then starts to slow down and reaches the point where nothing will happen and it locks up (for what feels like ages) prob about 30-43secs but its enough to cause grief if ur trying to send a txt with it or browse. Then it comes back to life and is fine again for a while, also getting a few error msgs saying that CProg has problems - (on all the 6.1 roms iv tried).
i have tried several roms (inc stock roms) and although i have read postings in modoco about the new 6.1 rom making the machine unresponsive this takes the biscuit, i thought my old n95 was bugridden when i first got it ;-(
There's a thread over at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393062 that tells of a similar tale, it might be worth a read.
Some of the issues are with the ROM and poor touch sensitivity making the unit appear to slow down.
If you have nothing to lose, overwrite your ROM's with the ones in my signature, they're on the forum and I know they're quick, and I'm on Orange, so its a good benchmark.
If you are still experiencing similar problems, then I would suggest you update the phone with the original stuff and tell Orange Care that they have a duff handset and you want it replacing.
i will give it a try, thanks ;-)

Help Please! Getting error with JumpSPL

Which folder on my device do I have to copy JumpSPL1.94 to?
I have SPL- 1.0.OlifPof, CPLD- 8 (whatever that means?)
I flashed a new Rom after a couple years of having a Dutty Rom (which made me hate my phone) now I like the new rom but my radio doesn't work.
I've spent lots of time reading guides already. Just want to know where to go from here before I change my radio (I have no sound!).
Any help guys?
I have tried two times to flash the Hard SPL I copied the JumpSPL then ran KaiserCustomRUU. But I keep getting an error and this time it was stuck at 0% and I had to recover. I don't want to brick.
Is there anyone around that can walk me through it?
Should I go back to the stock rom and start over?
As I said before I'm on SPL - 1.0.OliPof. Is that a hard SPL or do I have to JumpSPL then HardSPL?
Just follow the how to flash for noobs guide and follow the HardSPL directions EXACTLY! When HardSPL won't flash for me, it's usually because I didn't follow the instructions exactly (Eg didn't take out my SIM/SD card). Good luck and happy flashing.
Dave
Yes I followed it exactly. I followed the Noob Guide exactly and after Kaiser Unlocker, Step 2: Unlock Radio. I have a fuzzy screen after restart.
Damn it! Don't know what the hell to do now that's why I was asking.
Next I hard reset my phone to get passed the fuzzy screen. It went alright til the phone restarted and I got a loud buzzing sound coming out of the back speaker. The phone restarted again with another quieter buzzing sound.
R- 1.70.Olinex
It's allowing me to tap and setup device. Same buzzing noise throughout the whole process.
Thanks DaveTheTytnIIGuy for your input. I appreciate it .

It's posts like this one that irritate the long term members of this board. They are not your perosnal tech support, so being pissy about them not responding as soon as you want (even with adding a smiley face) doesn't really get help.
I am a complete noob to this, but after doing a fair amount of research I can try to answer your questions because I had those questions as well and just kept reading until I took a leap of faith. And yes I know information on this site is hard to find. You just have to keep at it and read forum posts on several different ROMs and their issues and you will find commonalities.

I always drop mine into the root of the phone file system when it is connected to my PC through USB. Then I use file explorer on the device to navigate to and then run the file.

I suggest you go to the radio page which is listed on the Wiki (and so is the suggestion that the issue with your volume is related to the radio):

To change SPLs, you always need to stick a Jump SPL on your phone and run it, and then run the update for the specific hard SPL you want. I went for the JumpSPL 1.94 initially and found it didn't work. Stepping back to the original JumpSPL allowed me to follow the directions to a T (including removing the battery, SIM and SD cards, deactivating USB in ActiveSync, etc...).
So it sounds like you went to a 1.0 Hard SPL, and doing so changed your radio to the one you listed. Generally if you are running Windows 6.1 Mobile or Windows Mobile 6.5, then you want to look for a Hard SPL in the 3.X range. Which one is a bit of a "poke and hope" but you should use the version that matches the OS your ROM version is based off on (most Windows Mobile 6.5 versions are based off of the HTC OS version 3.34 which is why I changed my Hard SPL from 3.56 to 3.34).
So might I suggest you get on the SPL version that matches your ROM base OS (the chef should know which one if they haven't already listed it), and then update your radio. You don't need the Jump SPL stuff for the radio or Windows Mobile ROMs.
Good luck and as I said keep reading multiple threads to try and see what others are running into and how they fixed it.
Thanks hotfix. My smiley and comment were more a joke for me to keep it humorous. Because I knew i messed up and there was no point in getting mad. I ended up having to start over.
What you said about the 1.94 JumpSPL was the same issue I had I went to the original and had no issues.
Information here is EXTREMELY hard to sort through. Wiki's and guides link to each other and parts and files are scattered all over the place.
I'm just looking for a stable rom at this point. But it's not really clear cut on this board. Do you know of any cooks who choose Quality over Quantity with their Roms? Meaning they make sure things are fixed before moving on.
ROMs are different from chef to chef but some are created more equal than others. I'm hooked on TPC's Elite series. you've got to understand that not all ROMs work the same on everyone's phone. TPC's v9 is probably the best one i've seen in a while but his v10 incorporated some new parts that caused problems for many. Try his or ultimate x2 if you want stable and fast with lots of extras.
Just make sure you follow the directions in the FAQ and be sure to read their FAQ posts FIRST (TPC's is the post #4 in his thread
Off that link I posted, I searched for "cooked" and found a thread of all cooked ROMs. I have personally only been at this for less than a month, but I have been watching which ROMs are being updated and supported by the authors and which haven't.
I think you will find 2-3 to start with there if you simply watch the first page to see which ROMs are getting traffic (and if the feedback is good).
Stable is subjective. What is stable on one phone isn't necessarily stable on another. I was playing with on ROM everyone raved about and eventually ditched it because it kept doing wierd stuff that the authors couldn't reproduce. That and a v9 of a ROM can be very stable and a v10 can go off the deep end.
Right now I am playing with AthineOS (the multimedia version) and am quite pleased.
still should have asked the question in the right thread and waited for an answer instead of starting a new thread, i recommend reading forum rules before starting a new thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=378
