Hi, I am an author of the Sleep with Me android application.
Sleep with Me allows to shut down phone, turn off the WiFi, Bluetooth, stop music, stop radio or do whatever you like when you fall asleep.
It's perfectly useful for people who fall asleep with music and in the morning it's still playing.
Firstly you have to set times when application works. Between this times (eg. 22:00-06:00) the application detects that if you use your device or not (during specified time you do nothing with phone). If not, android will start to vibrate. During 30-seconds vibration, you can light up the screen or shake the phone. If you do it, countdown will be repeated. If not, selected actions become execute.
Vibration pattern and shake strength are also available to set to.
The application is free. However free version contains an advertisement in top part of the screen. On the Play Store you can also find a donation version. Buying it supports the application development.
Free version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mtm.sleepwithme.free
Donation version: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mtm.sleepwithme.paid
Sounds useful to me. Will try.

Hello,
the missing sleep tracking ist terrible, it seems the last update changed nothing.
Is there an app allready?
Is there a possiblity to do a night profile (without gesture for screen on)?
Greetings, vastl
For sleep tracking I really suggest G'Night app. I have it for about a month and it's really good. Worth the 3 dollars it cost. Today the app got an update and added monitoring you're heartbeat and improve stat and graphs. The only minus is that you can't export the data out of the watch.
Sleep as android is great if you don't mind the battery drain and know how to install it. Its significantly better than gnight and its only $2 more. There's tons of settings and the data is stored on your phone so you can see much much more information.
As for a "night" profile, do not disturb turns off gestures and vibrations. Drag down from your watch face and tap the middle button. Just keep in mind you have to enable and disable it manually. There's no automation, which kinda sucks.
Agree it sux big time it is not implemented in an official way.
This is a functionality every smart-band out there have!
Is there not a app that uses just your watch? I don't want to lay my phone on my bed. I actually just want to track how often I wake up like on the fitbit.
I heard the makers of sleepbot are making an app for S2 Gear also.

That would be. G'night. Just make sure you also turn on airplane mode to get it to work well

I am using DnD mode. Whats difference between both? Airplane doesnt wake up at all?
OK here is my question for those of you doing sleep tracking. When do you charge your watch. Mine had about 40%battery left when I go too bed. Then when I get up there is only about 1 hour where I could charge before I leave for work.
I charge my watch before bedtime. When i wake up i have like between 80-88% battery left. With that i can wear the whole day the watch. At the evening it will be around 40-50%.

Airplane turns off BT, wifi and NFC so your watch is not communicating with your phone. DND just turns off notifications so your phone doesn't light up. I have DND on all the time to save battery. With G'night your phone wakes up briefly when it is taking your pulse

Is there anything that deactivates the rotating bezel, find it does not take much to wake the watch that way when sleeping

Duct tape lol

I enjoy seeing my sleep tracking data in Samsung S-health. The watch automatically records it, then uploads it automatically when you check S-health.
I saw some people having trouble where their sleep graph wouldn't show, to avoid this let the S2 upload the data, in other words, dont say yes i was asleep during such and such time, because that's your phone, not the watch info.
Hello,
I'm doing a simple Android background service that implements the raise to wake up feature. Thus, when the phone is in sleep mode (i.e. screen off) and the user raises the phone from the table, it will be waked up by the service.
When I attach the phone to the computer using the debug USB to test the application, in particular looking at the message of logcat, everything work well. Even if the screen is turned off, I can see from android studio that the service is alive and when I try to raise the phone from the table it will wake up.
However, when I detach the phone from the computer, the service won't work. In details, sometimes it works, but if I leave the phone asleep it doesn't work anymore. Checking the running services on my phone I can see that my service is alive, however it is not responsive.
What could be the problem?
I tried both making the service as background service and foreground service. The result is the same.
I'm testing the service on Android 7.0.
You can see the source code (with a precompiled binary) and/or contribute on github (look for the project called raison, I don't have the permission to put the link). The service is started after the boot of the phone or when the user opens the activity.
It doesn't seem a bug of the application (e.g. in the logic), because it works during the debug phase.
Furthermore, I don't have any power saving option and I see the service running (using the developer options).
Another note is that my phone has the double tap to wake up, however the double tap often doesn't work or is really slow (it wakes up after >10 seconds), thus seems that my system is slowing down so much during the sleep. However, applications like whatsapp work well.
There is a way to force my phone to keep the service running (without slowing it down) even in the sleep mode?
Thank you! It could be helpful also to have a feedback of the application on your phones, to see if it is just a problem of my phone or it is some behaviour of Android that prevents the correct execution of the service.
EDIT:
I've also tried to use a wake lock to keep the CPU awake (preventing the deep sleep) without success.
i heard that the note 20 ultra may not be sleeping cores when screen is off and idle
also i have seen apps that can shut the screen off while forcing sleep at the same time
do not know what to type to find it as i want to test it on my note 20 ultra. anyone know of such apps list them below...

I use greenify. You don't have to be rooted to use it and there is a setting that puts apps you select to sleep and turn screen off (that might be a root feature tho, I'm not sure, I don't use it, I just have it set to force stop battery draining apps).

3rd party power management apps tend to screw things up by creating conflicts. You may find it better to let Android do it without using any other apps except to shutdown apps that are known offenders.
On my load it's Bixby (except Bixby Vision and Bixby Vision Framework) all cloud apps, Samsung Push, Gmail, Google backup Transport and Backup Transport Framework.
All I'm using is PD MDM and Settings changes on my 10+ running on Pie. You will need to -play- with it to optimize it. Most guides and power management apps just drop the ball.
Monitor it. The usage you see is AOD running. After I turned off the screen Android powered all the running Apps down. No trivmcks; in Stand By Apps you can see all are in the Active state, all the time, always but they power down when not in use. So much for buckets... using Samsung Device Manager adaptive power management will toggle those buckets to various states and cause more battery drain eventually.
Use Galaxy Labs>Battery Tracker
It's possible the newer versions of Samsung Device Manager run fine but test by monitoring and always be wary of all 3red party power management apps!
Have you looked into Bixby Routines or an app like Tasker where you can create rules? I can't say this will work (I don't use these apps), but if you haven't looked into using rule setting apps, that may be a solution for you.
still someone mentioned the note 20 ultra may not be sleeping the phones cores that is why battery life is so out of whack. i just wanted an app that when i tape it it will turn off the phone and sleep the cores instantly. someone mentioned it is better then waiting for the time it takes to let the phone do it. this will help me find out if the cores sleep or not buy using the app to see if it will give me better battery life. really no harm will be done. the phone sleeps cores anyway. but if a bug is keeping them awake i want to catch it and report it. so it be nice if i can find an app to shut off screen and sleep the cores as well and it will save my power button from wear
All I would like is an icon on my home screen that I could tap to turn the screen off. I feel I’m wearing out the power button the amount of times I use it to turn screen off. Not found any other way to do it

Oh. Why didn't you say so?
Don't think Double Tap* works on 10....
but the Samsung Good Lock family app One Handed Operation Plus does

This app is why you bought a curved screen Note....
*Double Tap may work on 10; it has a 2x tap on home button off option. No ads, no data usage, very low resource/battery usage. This is one of three screen off/no button options I have enabled.

Mine does but no idea how yours is configured.
The app simple turns off the screen same as hitting the power button.
Apps like Greenify tend to make a mess out of unrooted phones.

To what end? I have about 60 apks blocked, no sync running for Gmail, Calendar, etc, no cloud apps, no trash message apps, no FB, Playstore is blocked unless I unblock it and no 3rd party power management*.
My OS "sleeps" within a minute or so of turning the screen off.
Still a lot of stuff running though plus I'm using AOD.
It uses a little under 1% of battery per hour and better with no AOD.
Reboots generally don't fix power issues at all.
*all 3rd party power management apps including Samsung's Device Manager (disabled) cause more problems than they solve and many times cause excessive power consumption as well. All my app buckets show as active in Developer Options.

i bet, but some have said it is not sleeping cores that may be the same as os sleeping. and why wait a min when you can have an app do it when you tap it. i just want to test if forcing the os/phone into sleep will make a difference and they got apps that can turn off screen and force sleep i just can not find them. i found one in 2015 and lost it forever

I use Nap Time by Francisco Franco the kernel developer for rooted devices from a couple years ago. It will put the phone into a deep doze, which android already has. You will need to do a couple adb commands to get it working on non rooted phones, it's one of the first apps I install on a new phone. The phone can sit 10 hours over night and drop between 3-5%, you can have it turn bluetooth, wifi and data off while in a doze. Here's what Franco says about his app.
This is the real battery saver. No placebo and dumb marketing shenanigans!
Naptime lowers your device's power consumption while the display is off by empowering Android's built-in doze power saving functionality. Faster idle means less power being consumed unecessarily. By default doze can take a while to kick in so Naptime just speeds-up that process automagically for you.
It can also automatically disable W-iFi, mobile data, location & bluetooth as soon as doze kicks in.
Experimental features such as automatic Android Battery Saver, Aggressive Doze timings, Aggressive Doze scheduling times and location detection.
Now you have profiles so you can load them up on demand based on your usage and accessible from Quick Tiles.
Most features work if you're not rooted, but to have the full experience you'll have to root your device.

You can't double tap with that one; set one or more of the slides to turn off the screen. I use that as to kill the screen, navigate and more.
Double Tap is the one that does just that.

You need to install the app, Double Tap first*
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...apk&pcampaignid=APPU_1_GzNZX_bWNsWosgXA3bmQAw
Give it required permissions/access. A clean app; zero data usage, no ads.
*Sorry if I mislead you. I have a lot of customization apps on this Android; most are Samsung but a few like this one aren't.

It turns off the screen. There's always system apks running in the background unless you power off the phone. You can limit what runs to some extent.
If your getting around 1% per hour battery drain when the screen is off I call it done.
