Hi since couple of days I have issues with my notifications, when I set notification sound for certain app, it just reverting to default, also sometimes it seems like android dosn't remember that I didn't allow notification for making sound, and it still allow it to make it and it's default. I'm thinking that some app is messing with settings, but I ca't figure out which one. I'm posting logcat , I tried to figure it out myself, but i'm not so good with android logs Any help would be apriciated
How to Change Notification Sounds for Each App on Your Android Phone
Customizing the notification sounds on your phone makes it easy to hear when your most important apps are sending you alerts.

I did this, for each app that I needed notifications and it worked like always, but from a couple days it keeps back reverting to default notification sound, no matter what I do

Issue: Having anything I do interrupted by random, useless WhatsApp messages or other notifications because of Google's glorious decision to force iPhone-style intrusive notifications on us with Lollipop
After doing some research, I've found a ROM called Cataclysm that seems to fix this problem nicely. Problem being, its dev only cares about outdated devices like the Nexus 5.
I've tried the SlimSaber and BlissPop ROMs, both of which feature a supposedly working option in the app-specific notification settings.
However, on neither of these, the switch actually changed anything.
I've tried enabling WhatsApp's internal "Show a pop-up" to "When screen is off", and that's partially a solution. Now, as long as the screen is on, notifications move nicely to the status bar: Just where they belong. Problem being: Whenever the screen is off, I get the useless pop-up whenever I receive a message (Working as intended though, not WhatsApp's fault).
I remember that, mid-December, a LiquidSmooth Lollipop build (03/12 or 08/12) did not feature such notifications, which was amazing. It did randomly restart every 10 minutes or so though.
Have any of you found a solution for that issue? I'm sure I'm not the only one being annoyed by Google's awesome new features, this alongside with the removal of silent mode.
It's the first time for a long while I've held back on getting to newer Android version, because right now, Lollipop is just crap in these two aspects. Here's to hoping Android 5.1 will unf*ck most of these errors.
I've finally found a temporary workaround.
Using a version of Whatsapp previous to 4.11.444 results in Whatsapp actually respecting the settings.
Why this was removed in 444, only the mildly incompetent developers are Whatsapp are ever going to know.
Still, I had hoped Google would be a bit more thorough with enforcing settings - not allowing individual devs to override global settings.
Hi everyone.
My wife has an S8 and recently she has noticed that she hasn't been receiving notification on Facebook messenger.
Me thinking it was an easy problem to solve went into the phone setting clicked on notifications and found that the notifications for the app were all on how they should be.
Then I went into the app settings and checked there and everything was right.
Then I restarted the phone and it still wouldn't work.
Then I uninstalled and reinstalled the app and still no success
I even got my phone out an S7E and checked how the settings should look on mine and hers matched my settings.
All her other apps are working except this one.
Am I missing something here, because it doesn't make any sense why it's not working. I performed a stock flash on the device about a month ago to 3 software, so she could have wifi calling but I don't see how this could of affected this one app and none of the others.
If anyone has any suggestions here I am all ears because I am out of ideas.
Make sure that it's not being forced close by the S8's onboard memory manager... sometimes it shuts down apps and you won't get notifications. Double check in the battery settings (you can get there from settings or the swipe panel) to see if the Messenger app itself is active.

Hi people, I seem to have solved the problem.
I followed the suggestion and went to the battery setting. In those setting there was an option for unmonitored and monitored apps. When checking the list of apps that were in these setting everything was right, including the messenger app in unmonitered app section. I removed it from that list and didn't bother adding it back.
Tested.........and it worked....I even got other people to message her in different situtations and it worked and still works.....not added it back in to the list yet, as long as it keeps working I prob won't
Hi people from XDA,
today i tried a few things with my S7 running resurrection Rom with Android 9, which resultet in a boot loop. I tried using unofficial xposed framework and some recommended modules. This Problem got solved with a factory wipe inside my recovery.
After the wipe, i obviously had to setup my system again.
Then it happened: a constant ringing sound was heard, sounding more like a ringtone. I tried killing all background apps and playing around with the sound settings, but nothing worked. I rebootet the phone and it seemed to have solved the problem, until it started again after some time. I checked for malicious apps and all kinds of settings, including do not disturb and other stuff.
What I did find out, was the fact, that the tone was linked to the ringing volume slider/setting.
I would appreciate any help, but nothing like turning off the sound. I want to know the source and reason for it to happen.
I have some new information. The tone is played, when i have unread messages in my status bar. After opening all the messages from the bar, the tone stops. Sometimes its buggy, then it continues until there are new messages that I need to read to make it stop.
Edit: I found the "name" of the tone. i didn't find it under ringtones nor notifications, but under wake up sounds. The name was Argon, but there were two Argon Sounds, which is weird i guess. the lower one sounds more minimalistic and the upper one is the one im currently having problems with. It sounds longer and more like a "happy" tune.

OK so just delete it from system directory.
Such a simplistic idea! Thanks. Didn't thought of that. I'll try it.

Tried it, but it made some interesting things with my phone. Although the file was from alarm sounds, notifications suddenly had "19" listed as a set sound, which was actually nothing. I changed it to "none" and waited for notifications to test it. I think it worked, but i cant remember, because i had some unrelated (or maybe related?) issues. My magisk manager stated, it had no magisk installed, meaning i didnt have root anymore. I tried to reinstall magisk, but that made my device reboot after a specific time after every boot. Right now i'm trying to fix my Rom. Feels bad.
Edit: Rom works perfect again. Deleted the sound file again and it seems to work.
For now my Problem got solved by deleting Argon from the alarms folder.
If I get any more errors, I'll post them.
I'm very thankful for your answer and I hope my explanation of my problem was not problematic.
I'm having some issues with notifications on this phone. It often just doesn't notify me at all!
Sometimes I go into whatsapp and there are new messages but no notification in the top bar at all. Additionally, I have 2 smart watches (a pebble one and a cheap chinese one) and these both work for showing notifications but only for about an hour after installing the app, after that, nothing until I reinstall the specific app. I have told the phone not to optimise battery for the smart watch apps but it made no difference. I've had this happen with text messages, whatsapp, gmail and ring. It seems that this phone just has a real issue with notifications! Has anyone else experianced this sort of thing?
I hope there is a fix because it's basically unusable if it doesn't even let me know when important stuff has happened (like someone at my front door for instance!!).
go to settings and type in search optiflex, you can set up to I think 10 apps that will always run in background, Im having there all IM apps and some I want to get notifications from (no need for gmail, that works always)

I've got this problem with lesser used apps like those with live match scores.
Interesting, I've had this issue with my Note 4, budget galaxy phone (can't recall exact model), ZTE zmax 2. and ZTE Blade Spark. I assume it's just a matter of dealing with ram management. I've had a hard time finding another person with this issue.
Did any one come up with a fix for this? I suspected it was related to aggressive battery optimization, but even when the app is not optimised I'm not getting notifications through.
No problems with notifications... Optiflex disabled, all apps that you want to get notifications from must be white listed from "autostart manager" (or something like that, mine is in Spanish)
Probably phone configuration error.
No problems with notifications at all.
I do not use PowerMaster, but I use OptiFlex.

Yes, go to battery settings>powermaster>auto-start manager>allow all apps to start automatically (or select individual apps to whitelist). Also allow newly installed apps to start automatically as well.
Just Purchased ZenFone6

Hey, I have had the ZenFone 6 for about 3 weeks and I must say that I think I wasted my money. Im having the same issues with notifications but more so with RING and WHATSAPP. I have tried all solutions that everyone has come up with and it seems as it its not 100% working. If you dont mind me asking, could it be the network that we are using? I dont want to believe that is it, but I wish I knew the reason for this cause.
I recently got my Xperia 5 II. While setting it up I imported my old apps and settings from my xperia XZ1 via the set up wizard (that automatically pops up). (Not sure if that has anything to do with it).
The problem is that the notification led doesn't work reliably. Sometimes it blinks, sometime it doesn't. I'm not even sure if it's caused by certain apps or not. Most of the time gmail notifications don't make it blink but sometimes it does. Whatsapp never blinks, although it should accodtring to the settings.
Obviously the notification settings have the led enabled both in system settings and each app. I even tried deleting and reinstalling some of the apps. For gmail the notification led worked once after a new install but afterwards never again.
My last hope was to add it to the exceptions of the battery management, so it doesn't get killed, but that didn't help either.
What's going on? Is this a common bug? Has anyone else noticed this behaviour?
