Complete newbie here. I am trying to root my KB2007. I bought it on Amazon and after an update the Oxygen version is 11.0.13.13.KB05BA. I think I was able to get ADB figured out and the bootloader is now unlocked. I’ve looked at some guides and it seems like I will need a boot img that matches my phone to start rooting. I can’t seem to find this and my research has been telling me that the KB2007 is a T-mobile version that can have OEM unlocked can’t be done without a code even though I was able to without contacting T-mobile. Can anyone help me out or guide me on how to root my device?

Spent all day scraping this forum for some guidance on getting TWRP on the TMO variant.
I have followed several methods that have been posted here. The last I tried was flashing international -> Q Preview 3 to unlock the bootloader. I was able to get the bootloader unlocked, but this didnt change the fact that TMO has disabled the common fastboot commands like boot, making it impossible to boot to TWRP directly from the bootloader. No idea how this worked for anybody.
Attempting to flash recovery with the twrp image doesnt work since fastboot tries to flash recovery_b and reports that the partition doesnt exist. The set_active command has also been removed.
I managed to find one thread that provided instructions for flashing a patched boot image. However, there are no patched boot images I can find. I am willing to patch it myself if nobody else has tried this yet.
If there are any other people out there making monthly payments on the phone, you can bypass the bootloader unlock using the international to Q preview method, but i do not think you can permanently carrier unlock until you pay off the phone.
Many of the guides out there for TMO were made back in June/July. Looks like some updates have been issued to prevent them from working anymore. If there is anyone that frequents this forum that can help me out, I'd be happy to offer some ongoing assistance myself once i get this thing rooted.
There's a few threads on here that tell people to PM certain users to have their phone SIM unlocked. I was one of them, T-Mobile, only had the phone for 5 months now, still paying on it. Unlocked and converted. Also, just use MSM Download Tool to convert to international, you'll find a guide on here somewhere. After that, re-unlock your bootloader, fastboot boot TWRP, flash the TWRP installer zip, flash desired version of OOS, then you'll be good to go. Simple as that.
I've had this phone since launch with the hopes of rooting and being able to use other roms etc. but I've not attempted any of the guides posted on the g7 as almost all of them either exclude the verizon model or dont specifically detail the necessary changes to the guides for the verizon model. And yet other guides state the verizon model can indeed be unlocked and rooted however broken download links and multiple issues noted by users riddle the posts. Point in the right direction? Is there a clear step by step guide on going from a stock us verizon lg g7 to having an unlocked bootloader with root access? Or is this still impossible on this model?
The issue with Verizon model is that the fastboot is disabled by default, AFAIK. So try crossflashing another location's firmware or simply ULM (Unlocked). After that you will be able to get to fastboot but, again rooting phones isn't as easy as it used to be before. If you want I can write a dummy guide that explains every step of the procedure but I think most guides are mediocre and you can use them to unlock your phone/root if you have previous experience with newer devices. So try this first : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/cross-flash-oreo-pie-firmwares-lg-g7-g7-t3915303 to cross flash your phone. Then follow the guide here : https://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g7-thinq/how-to/howto-unlock-bootloader-root-g7s-t-mo-t4077105 . Feel free to ask me questions. Beware that you will lose all data so do your backup first. I can NOT help you if you brick your device, since I haven't bricked mine yet, but supposedly crossflash method should save your device in that case. Also make sure that your phone is unlocked by Verizon before attempting any of this since you may lose network connectivity. Cheers.
Root T-mobile lgg7
Thank you for your explanation on root for the Verizon model. Can I root my T-MOBILE LG-G7 without erasing everything? I have about 6 GB of photos and videos on my internal memory I wish to recover!

Hi All - want to flash my Tmobile 8t to Global, is there a way to bootloader unlock the 8T without waiting a week for the token code. I remember there was a way to do this with the 7T, hoping there is a way to do this for the 8T also.
Thanks!
did you founded any solution?
If you have a sim unlocked device, you should be able to follow the instructions in here

In summary use that tool to convert to global and then follow the instructions under Instructions to Bootloader Unlock a SIM locked device:

Anyone can share boot.img from msm tool file? Or tell the method to open msm file? I can unpack payload but not msm
As in title really.
I've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S10+
and
LG V50 LM-V5000EM
Got them both in front of me right now and I VERY much prefer the V50, but can it be rooted so I can use Titanium backup and system app remover etc?
Just come from the V30 forums...gave that to my mother.
Any help will be very much appreciated.
thanks
Matt
Geez.....this forum in DEAD....off i go to the S10+
This has been up for weejs now and had hundeds of views and not one single person know if it can be rooted????
First of all, your title is wrong relating to model number.
If your bootloader is unlocked, then you should install Magisk app manager. Extract the boot.img from the firmware and have it patched in Magisk. Transfer the patched file to PC and flash it to the V50 boot partition using fastboot. That should make the phone rooted.
If you have problem in extracting the boot.img from the firmware, I can help you.
I am writing this after a cursory search through the V50 forums.
Your device model (LMV500EM) has an official method for unlocking the bootloader: https://developer.lge.com/resource/mobile/RetrieveBootloader.dev
Once your bootloader is unlocked, you may try to follow the instructions in this thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...sk-root-using-firehose.4221793/#post-84336553
Namely, you want to try the instructions that follow the "Magisk Root" subtitle. That thread is for V50 models without an official bootloader unlock method, so the first part deals with unofficial bootloader unlock. Since your bootloader can easily be unlocked, you shouldn't follow the guide step-by-step. Rather, AFTER unlocking your bootloader, your goal is to:
1) Get your phone into fastboot
2) Take note of the active slot - _a or _b
3) Back up the corresponding boot partition - either boot_a or boot_b
4) Patch the correct boot image using Magisk Manager
5) Write the patched image back to the correct slot on the device
This is not a detailed step-by-step guide, but rather an outline of what you need to accomplish using the information from the guide I linked above. This is just an observation as I don't have this model, and have never performed the procedure in this order. I used this guide to unlock the bootloader on a Sprint V50 and it worked for me. Therefore, if you attempt this, make sure to back up everything you can. I personally would be very careful attempting this since the risk of failure is fairly high.
I could try writing out more detailed instructions but I find your entitlement to an answer to be off-putting. Either way, I wish you luck with this, if you attempt it.

Saw your reply after I had posted mine. I completely forgot European models have firmware files available. It'd definitely be easier to extract a boot image from a firmware file rather than trying to get it from the device using QFIL, so your approach is better. I guess having the Sprint version got me into a scarcity mindset.
No problem. I hope OP can follow your roadmap.

Just in case you missed it, @lallolu here offered to do it for 5 bucks which I think is a fair price. You mentioned you'd be willing to pay to get it rooted earlier.

Hi, I am not the one doing it. It is one guy called "Remote Unlock Service". He is very knowledgeable and he could help with other issues too. I used him once when I bricked my phone. Rooting and unlocking bootloader is actually easy for the ones that know how to follow guides.
I HAVE unlocked the bootloADER...THAT WAS SIMPLE.
This pile of junk defo being sold. Hello V60
Hello all!
Thanks for taking the time to click into this.
About me: I mostly see myself as a somewhat tech-savvy noob - I have rooted several devices in the past, flashed ROMs, etc.
New Device: OnePlus 8T T-Mobile Variant purchased from OnePlus.com
Condition: Brand New - never started the device
I would like to essentially imitate Calyx as described here.
=> install TWRP/Magisk + flash 'LineageOS for MicroG'
Questions:
1) Will I be able to unlock the bootloader given that this is the T-Mobile variant purchased from OnePlus?
2) Do I need to take additional steps because this phone is the T-Mobile variant?
3) basic question: I have never started the phone so it has no personal data - should I back up the current setup in case I need to return to OOS for any reason or can I track down the default OOS installation making that all unnecessary?
(I remember in the past default Samsung installations were easily tracked down and flashed using Odin).
4) Would you recommend any detailed instructions to go through the process of backup, installing custom recovery, accessing root privileges, flashing LineageOS for MicroG, etc?
(I feel like I am piecing parts together from different places and it's all not fitting together)
Thank you so much for reading this.... I feel like I'm going down several rabbit holes currently so any perspective or support is welcome!
It would be helpful to hear any thoughts from some more experienced peeps before I move ahead.
Thank you!
Currently, I am trying to get the SIM unlocked, then unlock the bootloader, and proceed with the plan above.
I am considering returning the phone and getting a different one that has more users on XDA to avoid having bizarre issues arise with the steps involved with the T-Mobile version of the 8T and being totally on my own.

whoa! that's helpful feedback. Thank you for posting!
Based on your comment, I am leaning towards returning the phone.
I think I learn best through examples and may need a little support.
I am now wondering how I can figure out which phones have the largest 'community' on XDA.
I have the T-Mobile variant. There's more support and options available so don't be discouraged.
Normally, you have to be SIM unlocked before you can do anything else, like bootloader unlocking. If the phone is being paid for or financed and you haven't been a long time customer you may or may not get it SIM unlocked.
That said, I got mine SIM unlocked after contacting the T-Mobile Tforce people on Facebook. Then I saw this thread on Rebranding the T-Mobile variant.

Following it I changed the T-Mobile firmware to the European firmware. If nothing else you get more recent updates and a local update feature (full OTA updates can be downloaded and installed locally). As a result of the conversion I was able to simply fastboot unlock the bootloader without need for waiting for a code from OnePlus. The phone is now bootloader unlocked and rooted with Magisk.
Note that according to the OP, SIM unlock is not necessary for the conversion but you'll still need to be SIM unlocked to be able to unlock the bootloader.
Now that I'm "free" I now have the itch for a custom ROM. Over the years all of my devices run either with microG or just UnifiedNlp but no Google. I feel the need to do the same here. Currently I just have most Google apps disabled and using FOSS apps in their place but still...
Besides LineageOS for microG, the 8T also has Carbon ROM and crDroid. They historically have always had signature spoofing support so I assume they still do with Android 11. That means microG can be used.
Check the guides and ROM/Kernel threads for more info.
I don't know if I can get to trying anything this week but I hope to. I work at a drive-in movie theater and with Spider-Man coming out this week I'll be quite busy.

No, not too versed on this device really. I searched for that error and got a lot of hits but didn't have the time to read up. Sorry.
