Question Can't seem to get my att phone to work on t-mobile (assurance) work please 😣 help - Samsung Galaxy A12

I just purchased a new galaxy a12 that was pre-installed with att firmware. I had the device network unlocked by att . I have been told from many sources that att phone and tmobile phones are the same type of network and so my active assurance wireless Sim should work fine in the phone I purchased since assurance is on the t-mobile network.. it shows my assurance number in the Sim information and shows assurance in the apn settings but won't connect to data dating the Sims not registered on the network ... how can I get the Sim to connect with the network with this new phone. Would the easiest fix be to just flash with something and if so how can I do that. Thank you for your time!!!

Mess around with the settings, I have a phone that was unocked, and it works fine from AT&T to Google Fi (Which is T-Mobile based), so flashing wouldn't equal to the problem being solved, you should go to networks and select it manually.

AirFire Mobile

So where i live we have another option for gsm networks called air fire mobile... I called at&t to get my unlock code after giving me my code they asked what my intentions were, i told them to switch networks. The rep then told me my inspire would not work on this other gsm network called airfire. I dont know if air fire is a national thing or what but in case not here is there web site. http://www.airfiremobile.com/
Well i went to airfire mobile and they said my phone would have to be unlocked so i had them put there sim card into my phone and nothing popped up for unrecognized sim card..... My g/f has a htc aria and she got the option to unlock sim she put the unlock code in she had received and it worked but her phone could not recognize air fire's network only there roaming service with is covered by at&t... is there something with HTC phones that will not allow us to use this network, or are there any steps we need to do once the new sim cards are in the phones like settings and apns numbers or anything? Please help looking to escape my raping by at&t each month lol
You should have no issues with ATT phones working on AirFire. Looks like they use the same bands as ATT. And maybe she was showing as roaming because she was actually roaming. There is only local coverage in wisconsin. This page shows everything you need to know except nowhere on the site does it say they offer 3G. I am guessing it is edge only.
http://www.airfiremobile.com/Support
thank you for you help, when i asked the lady if they offer 3g her response was we offer 2.5g lol im guessing that would be edge?? Also when i go Menu>settings>wireless and networks>mobile networks>Network operators: the only thing that comes up is at&t. This is with my at&t sim card in, but shouldnt it show airfire also? or does my phone need to be unlocked before it will show airfire?? so confusing lol
Is your phone sim unlocked? You said you got the code from ATT but never said if you were able to enter it sucessfully. Is your phone rooted? If yes then during the rooting process it will become sim unlocked. So if you phone happens to be sim unlocked then select "network operators" and do a search for your new network. And YES you have to have an AirMobile sim or all you will see is ATT with an ATT sim card.
Just in case you don't understand, you unlock the phone to use any simcard. You are not unlocking the sim card to use any carrier.
As far as data it is an ATT phone. It does not have the APN for AirFire Mobile. You will have to enter that yourself as a new APN.
yes my phone is rooted, i never knew that by rooting it unlocks the phone, maybe that would explain why when i put the airfire sim in the box never came up asking for the unlock code?
But even still when the g/f had the airfire sim in her aria and she unlocked her phone it showed airfire network but it was roaming.. and didn't show there home network, the rep at the store said it could be something within the hardware from htc??? and at&t told me my inspire wouldn't work on airfire because my phone was 4g phone.. which i dont see why a 4g phone cant come down to Edge network if thats what airfire is
Any ATT phone will be able to make calls and connect to data on AirFire's 2.5G system if thats what they call it.
Let's just say that the rep at the store should be selling shoes.

Your right the guy is stupid. First the inspire can't connect to att 4g network that is not even 4g. As long as they are GSM based you are at least gonna get edge. I don't even want him selling me shoes lol

S7, APN Settings, and Prepaid

Hello, I just bought a verizon Samsung Galaxy s7. I am a net10 customer, so to use the phone i purchased the byop kit and inserted the verizon compatible chip and then i go to register the phone with net10, and it says it cant do it, to contact customer service. So I called them and they said that for some reason the imei wont register manually, and that i have to call verizon and see if it was locked. So i called verizon and they said according to the imei i gave them it isnt locked, and that verizon doesnt even lock 4g lte devices. but no matter what i do i cannot get the phone to register with imei. I have even tried strait talk. Another thing to note is that on the verizon website, the s7 isnt listed as compatible device for a byop plan.
So theres no one i can call to have anything unlocked, i cant get my money back from net10, after i called net10 customer service back and told them that verizon said it wasnt locked, net10 CS then stated that the phone wasnt compatible on their network.
A verizon tech said he sometimes has problems registering phone imei's. He said sometimes it goes through, and sometimes you have to keep trying. I really have no clue of what type of process is happening here...
So, i took out the verizon compatible sim, and put in the att/unlocked gsm device sim and then registered that through net10. it actually went through, I now have a phone number and i have basic data, but i cannot send or receive mms. I used the APN settings i found somewhere on the internet for ATT network as they are the only ones that work so far..
The other problem i have is that my phone says the sim isnt from verizon, which im assuming i can just flash the "u" version of the rom to take care of? But am i hoping there is a way to make my phone work in their network so that i can use the intended sim card.
So with all that said I have a couple questions.
1. Why wont my phones imei register on the carrier networks?
2. If i cant get it to register on their networks, is there any way to at least get my mms working?
I find it very strange that no one else has had this problem. I cant find any information as to why the s7's arent part of the byop yet.
Thanks in Advance!

WiFi Calling on Factory Unlocked S8+

A couple of weeks back, I purchased a factory unlocked S8+ Model #G955U1, Baseband Version G955U1EU1AQE3 (The AT&T Galaxy S8+ has different Model and Build #s), inserted my AT&T SIM card and have been using it since. Then I decided to activate WiFi calling, however, unlike my wife's iPhone 7, my Galaxy does not have the option to enable WiFi calling (this option should be under Settings>Connections). After some research, I found out that this a carrier feature which AT&T must provision. When I asked them to do it, they provisioned it on my wife's iPhone 7 but not on my Galaxy, so I called them again and asked them to provision it on the Galaxy. Although they insist that they did, the feature does not show up on under AT&T Devices (It shows up under the iPhone but not the Galaxy). After spending no less than two hours speaking to three agents, I learned that AT&T does not have in their data base the IMEI number of the Galaxy because it was not purchased through them. So obviously, not having an IMEI number, the WiFi calling feature is not going to be pushed to my Galaxy. Not being able to solve the problem, they escalated it to another level who is supposed to contact me two days from now. A friend purchased his Galaxy S8+ through AT&T and the WiFi calling option is there in Settings>Connection and he is able to toggle it on or off. When I used AT&T's IMEI Verification tool, the result was "Device is compatible but we cannot find matching SIM card".
Any and all input would be appreciated.
Same here. Looks like wifi calling is not a feature that is available on the unlocked version unfortunately. Same with using LTE while on calls and built in visual voicemail :/
You have some advantages going unlocked but you lose some things too.

But you can always use Odin to flash the ATT firmware to the unlocked device. There's plenty of threads here regarding this very subject.

True, just keep in mind that future att updates can't be done via OTA - which can be a pain too.

With the unlocked s8+ i've found that wifi calling and volte only worked on T-Mobile, I tried it with T-Mo and verizon. It stinks that ATT cant be more like T-Mo with accepting non branded devices

I am pleasantly surprised and a bit puzzled because when I spoke to T-Mobile Tech yesterday, she could not confirm if WiFi calling will work on unlocked S8+. If I can be assured that it will work, I will switch to T-Mobile.
Please do me a great favor and check if your unlocked S8+ has the same Model and Build Numbers as mine. Here are my numbers:
Model #G955U1
SM-G955UZKAXAA
Baseband Version G955U1EU1AQE3
Thank you.

All the information you provided matched with my phone. As a matter of fact, I also tried my friends SIM who is on MVNO called Mint Mobile that runs on T-mobile network. Mint also allowed me to make wi-fi calling. I am surprised that t-mobile rep could not confirm this feature because this feature is on by default! If I don't want to make wifi calls, I have to turn it off. The only little annoying part is that you get constant notification," Calls will be made over WiFi". Even when you block this notification, it will reappear on the reboot

Thank you indeed for your response. When I got my S8+ and before inserting AT&T SIM, this feature was NOT listed under Settings>Connections. I was informed by a Samsung agent that the carriers will push this feature to the phone through their SIM after they provision the feature. So now since my SIM is AT&T and my phone is unlocked, and its IMEI number is not in AT&T's data base, I don't have the feature listed.
Unfortunately, I can't comment on at&t network. On t-mobile, I did not have to do anything except during the initial setup, I was asked if I was ok to make wifi phone calls when a wifi connection was available & the signal was strong. I still have the option not to use this feature. You may wantvto visit a t-mobile store or find a friend who is on t-mobile network. It might not be a bad idea to reset the phone (after backing up) when you get the new sim card. Good luck ?

I switched yesterday from AT&T to T-Mobile and immediately the wifi calling showed up in Phone Settings as you mentioned. However before switching from AT&T to T-Mobile, wifi calling was not anywhere to be found.

That's because WiFi calling and VoLTE are not available on ATT using the US Unlocked device. You have to either buy an ATT carrier version, or flash the ATT firmware to your current device.
Try to reset to factory defaults with sim inside
I'm on Argentina and with unlocked software i got wifi calling when the device is set up with my sim inside

I found that after wasting several hours with AT&T's techs. The 3rd option is to dump AT&T and switch to a carrier that has wifi calling available for unlocked S8/S8+ phones such as T-Mobile.
Wi-Fi Calling works great for me

To access Wi-Fi calling you need to open your phone app and hit the settings button in the top right corner and then scroll all the way to the bottom and it will be there.

Straight Talk won't activate my phone.

I have a tracphone Samsung Galaxy Luna SM-120vl. It is brand new and I called straight talk to activate it but only to be told that because of upgrades to their system they No longer activate this phone to their network. So basically at the moment I'm stuck with a non working phone. I requested they unlock the phone and they refused. How can I get this phone activated on their network or one of tracphones other networks like total wireless? What if I activated a SIM card on another device I no longer use then move it to the non activated device. Would that work ? Or try and change the imei number. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure if this method is valid, but, here is a video detailing how to SIM unlock your device to be used on other networks. Be aware that even if the unlock method works to actually unlock the device, there are still no guarantees that the device can be activated on a Tracfone network. Your best bet would be to contact the various Tracfone subsidiary networks to see if your device can even be used on their network before you go through all the trouble of trying to unlock/activate your device.

No that did not work. However, I recently activated a tracfone SIM card on a device that I no longer have, a device that is broken. I took the SIM card and placed it into the phone that the company said could not be activated and it began working. It is day 4 and the phone is still working. Now what I'm wondering is, could I switched to say total wireless or straight talk and do the same as tracfone does own these companies too. I'm going to try it. Let you know how it goes.

Best way to make my Moto E-5 work on any network even if locked?

So this is kind of weird, I recently received a sim card for my E-5, It's a second hand phone that I bought ebay "Unlocked", I used it for a few years with a provider on the Sprint Network, now T-mobile, nothing owed free and clear. My current carrier is telling me based on the fact that the APN are greyed out and same for network controllers with the sim card inserted that the phone has "network restrictions" meaning it's locked to the last network which would be Sprint, I can confirm that since I still have the old sim card and it says sprint on it and when it's inserted there is a signal just no network. I contacted the previous provider and they said I need to contact Sprint to get it unlocked, Sprint has the most stringent requirements to unlock, the tech support at my current provider said I could also do a factory reset and that should remove the network restriction, but I don't want to do a reset if it doesn't work and I have a feeling that's BS. So my question is what's the best way to make my phone work on any network, do I need to root it and than debrand it? I'm a total newb to this part of phone modding, so if someone can point me in the right direction I would appreciate it as I have been without cell service for a couple of months now since I lost my other phone. Thanks
