i have bought a nexus 5 nearly a year now and it has worked perfectly the problem occurred two weeks ago it happened rarely when i unlock the phone it has a black screen so i had to force reboot with holding the power button , and it started to happen nearly every time i try to unlock it . i had stock android 4.4.4 then i tried at first factory reset and no positive results tried to go back to 4.4 same issue then a friend recommended cm 11 worked for nearly 24h perfectly :good: then the same thing happened :crying: , now im on Slimkat and the black screen appears nearly every time i unlock it now even if unlock the phone successfully with no problems the screen turns black at any time now (home screen apps phone calls ...) it even turns black in boot after the google logo appears (the time the rom logo appears) although it never ever turns black at boot loader or recovery mod . previous searchs i have made lead me that the problem is caused by turning auto-brightness on and/or animation scale must be more than 0.5 and they are not the cause in my case . i think this is a software problem and not a faulty hardware anyone can help me find a solution for this problem please
this is a recording i have made of what i see : /Py5Tv5w8bGo
and this is another screen record made with adb while this problem occurred from 0:09 its a black screen for me and as you can see it's freezing :

Hello,
Few weeks ago my Xiaomi's touch screen got broken, so I buyed a new lcd screen + touch in aliexpress. Now that I replaced it no matther what I do, the phone doesn't boot, or show the charging screen, it just keep showing MI logo at startup forever. I can only enter in fastboot mode / download mode, no recovery. But here's the funny thing, when I disconnect the touch, it brings back to normallity.
I've seen a lot of people have the same issue than I in the same scenario (brick after lcd screen was replaced) but I couldn't find any solution.
Thanks

Seems to be the screen and nothing else, thanks for the answer
It is the second time this happened. Last time it fixed itself after half an hour.
The screen is always pitch black and the device stays warm.
Most of the time it is boot looping with a black screen, the 5G led on the back keeps blinking in different colours. When connected to a PC, in Device Manager I can see two "LG-V500N", then it disappears after a minute, and comes back, repeat.
Sometimes the device boots and stay booted with a black screen, I can tell the device is on because it is listed in "adb devices". Unfortunately I don't have any authorized device to connect to it via adb.
I am not sure what I can try, I have pressed and hold power + vol down many times but the screen remains black.
I also have trouble switching off the device, it seems to either stay on or boot loop.
After letting it rest for a few hours, switching it on shows this screen, with a white/gray line at the top of the screen, and after 5 seconds it switches itself off again.

Get into download mode by powering off the phone and pressing volume up while having it plugged into a PC. Then find a guide to flash a kdz lgup. You will probably lose data or have already lost it

It seems the phone will not stay in download mode for more than 5 seconds, it powers off after showing the big download mode screen for 5 seconds.
I will try to leave my phone on the charger for some time and then try again.

I managed to get the device to enter and stay in download mode, however the screen stays pitch black and I am not sure if I should continue flashing.
Would you go ahead and flash it if you were me?
The device is currently on Pie, I will probably try flashing a Pie KDZ first, before an Android 10 KDZ.
Sometimes there is a brief moment where the screen comes on, that's when the LG V50 logo shows before entering download mode.
Did an UPGRADE with V500N11r_00_KT_KR_OP_1017.kdz, which should be the same firmware that the device is already on, it flashed successfully, didn't seem to help, screen remains pitch black.
Did a REFURBISH with the same kdz, didn't seem to help either.
The phone seems to continue to boot loop after the REFURBISH flash. When connected to PC, LG-V500N shows up and then disappears repeatedly. Sometimes I can hear a sound effect being played from the phone, sounds like it has booted and the sound probably came from the initial setup screen.
Seems the phone has stopped boot looping, it is on the initial setup screen. The screen remains pitch black but it responds to touch.
Not sure where I can go from here.
Edited:
The screen has come on briefly once for a few seconds, it is on the initial setup screen. I only had time to switch the language to English, then the screen went black and the device seem to have crashed (no longer makes sound or vibrate as I randomly tap on the screen)

I think it's some faulty hardware at this point. You've tried everything possible as of now.

Hi! I bought an LG V50 and exactly the same things you described happens to me, the screen starts, it shows the logo, but then it goes completely black, but phone starts, sounds are heard and the touch screen work. But not image, screen is black. Could you find out what hardware defect it is? It's the display module, or will it be the motherboard? Thanks
Nope, I have sold the phone as parts.

I got a samsung Note 10 doing this! Took it to local shop! he sprayed some liquid near the proximity sensor area and I saw my phones screen came back to life ;while hiding it he was Telling me if he can repair the screen without changing it he"ll need 20$.. I laughed and told him not interested to repair....
So, first I thought my brother's A51 was water damaged because it was wet a little bit and charging was being interrupted. I left the phone turned off for the night and wanted to look at it again the next morning. The problem is that the screen or something else stopped working.
The screen works fine in Download mode, Recovery mode, or at splash screen with phone's model name, the problem begins when it's booting to Android. It's still stuck at the splash screen. no boot animation, no lock screen visible, just a model name. It's not bricked, because I can still unlock the phone (didn't have a password) and I can hear the unlock sound or charging sound (it started working again).
I tried factory reset through recovery - didn't help, flashing fresh firmware from Frija - didn't help. The only thing that changed is now the splash screen brightness goes down a bit and I noticed that until I am touching the screen so the phone can't lock itself it doesn't turn off the splash screen, but when I press the lock button it turns off the screen and I can't turn it back on, but the phone still works because I can hear charging sounds and it shows up in Device manager.
I also opened it because I wanted to see if there's any water damage, but I didn't see any water marks or burnt components. I cleaned the charging board with alcohol and let it dry but that didn't help.
I'm worried that there's something wrong with the motherboard or the charging board because it has a screen connector.
I can also see that some people here have similar issues:
Unbrick A51 - Stuck on samsung logo

black screen after splash and unable to factory reset, possibly frp?
Apologies for formatting, typing up on my phone during my break at work. To be more specific, I have a samsung a51 that recently had a black screen of death with no known cause. The samsung splash screen as well as the recovery menus alll work...

I should also add that I don't have access to settings so I can't unlock OEM and flash custom recovery / ROM. I also cannot downgrade to Android 10 (duh)
I have exactly the same behaviour here.
I ordered a "defect" A51 on Ebay which was not working. I opened it an saw a water damage at the USB-C charging board. Since there was a lot of oxydated parts I ordered a replacement for this board.
After cleaning an replacing the charging board I have the same issue as szerbi. I see the charging screen (while powered off), I can enter download mode and transfering stock firmware using Odin, I can enter recovery mode. While all these states the display works well and I cannot see any damages like a broken display.
I even got it working correctly after several Odin firmware update and recovery mode / factory reset attempts and I could install some apps and set up my google account. I was very happy. But after some hours again: no screen while Android is running.
Now, when Android is running I hear the charging and the screen shot (pressing volume-down + power buttons) sounds and the phone will be visible as a storage device while connecting to a PC.
Conclusion: The display is black while Android is running. Since it was shortly active I assume either a loose contact on one of the flex cable connetions or a water damage at the displays flex board. Unfortunately latter cannot be checked without dividing the display from the display frame. I assume this is an irreversible process.
Hi everyone! I really appreciate it if you can help! I connected my ZTE AXON Pro phone to the computer and deleted some folders and files in my phone through Android File Transfer, and the phone worked normally after I deleted the files. But the next day when I turned it on, it was stuck at the "AXON" logo screen. I went to two repair shops. One could do nothing about it and suggested me to contact a data recovery company since I need the data in my phone. The other shop thought my phone was fairly old (I started to use it in 2017) and they suspected that the battery had gone bad and wasn't supplying enough voltage for a full boot cycle. They ordered a new battery and tried floating it plugged in, but the phone still wouldn't boot. They said the motherboard was also getting very hot approximately where the power supply chip would be. They tried to charge the new battery but nothing brought the phone to life, so they diagnosed it as a power supply chip failure. They couldn't fix it. But I think the problem is caused by me deleting the files that affect the system. After that I put the phone in recovery mode and wiped cache partition, but it still wouldn't fully boot up and it's stuck in bootloop: Now when I turn it on it's stuck at the "AXON" logo screen for a few minutes and then "Android is starting...Optimizing app 1 of 3.""Android is starting Optimizing app 2 of 3.""Android is starting Optimizing app 3 of 3." show up, and then "Android is starting apps." shows up. Then it restarts and stucks at the "AXON" logo screen, and repeats the loop over and over again until the battery is completely drained.
I have some very important app data in the internal storage and I can't afford to lose it. Does anyone know how to fix the bootloop without losing data? Thanks a lot!!!!!
Boot this Androd 5.1 based phone into "Safe Mode":
Safe mode can help you investigate and find problem apps if optimizing app 1 of 1 ... issue is caused by unsuitable or broken apps. You can stop Android optimizing apps by booting the device in Safe mode.

Thank you for replying! I just tried to boot it into safe mode, but it didn't work. When I saw the ZTE logo on the screen I quickly pressed volume down and held it for about one minute or longer, but the phone was still stuck at the "AXON" logo screen and started the bootloop. It wouldn't load in safe mode. I've tried a few times, but it still doesn't work.
