I was using pure xperia rom which was working fine but yesterday i had a strange problem. my phone screen first went blank then colourful stripes appeared on it. although the phone was working as i was able to use it (from my memory). i opened recovery but it faced the same problem.. but after few minutes my phone screen started responding.. but it all started happening again.. so i thought to revert back to stock rom v2. i flashed it using sp tools and my phone worked fine for almost 1 day but the same started happening again..:crying: the only difference is instead of black screen with stripes a dark blue screen appears.. what should i do? is this a hardware problem?
p.s. i have not installed any new app. currently my phone screen is responding.
Hello! I have a stock Android Lollipop 5.0.1 Nexus 5 and for the past week or so I have been experiencing a weird issue.
The device randomly crashes. By "crashes" I mean the screen goes black, but the backlight is still on (it's a lighted black). I can push the power button and it will turn completely black (locked) and if I push it once more it turns lighted black again.
To get the device back into usable state I have to keep the power button pressed until the phone resets. Sometimes I keep it pushed for a full minute and nothing happens, sometimes 10 seconds are enough. Sometimes it will go through the "Google" logo and then stay in the lighted black state until I finally manage to reboot it again. Sometimes it crashes again right after it boots up.
It's weird because a lot of the times it's ok throughout the day and then when I go out in the evening, I take it out of the pocket and I see it crashed. Sometimes it crashes while I actually use it.
Last night it started doing something else: instead of lighted black, the screen is filled with static noise. It doesn't move or anything, it's a still image. Today, when a crash like that occurred, the screen glitched first (random lines on the screen, some parts got moved, really weird). I will get some photos if it happens again.
The problem is that I can't identify what's causing it. There is no particular app or action that I do / use that triggers this. It also doesn't seem to be movement-based, as it sometimes happens while it's sitting still on a table.
I updated to 5.0.1 about a day before this started happening, but I'm still not sure if it's software or hardware-based.
I tried a factory reset and booting into safe mode, none of these helped. I will only consider flashing a custom ROM as a final resort, because I'm not sure if it voids the warranty.
PS: the device is still under warranty, but I'm away for the holidays and will be until the beginning of the next year. And I'd like to have a usable device, especially while I'll be on the road.

I have none of your issues, try booting the device in safe mode and see if the problems still occure. It must be a or multiple downloaded apps that are causing your issues. Or try a data factory reset and restore/download your apps one by one amd try to identify the culpritt.

I said in the post that I tried both of those things. The crash occurred seconds after booting in safe mode and factory reset did not help either.

Flashing the 5.0.1 factory image in fastboot should fix your issues. Or try flashing system.img first, maybe thats enough.
Same issues with my Nexus 5

I am experiencing SAME exactly issues in my N5 with 5.01 and 5.1 . EXACTLY... you are not alone
Seems a software problem (third party app ?) , started in 5.01 and now is in 5.1 , of course system and boot images where flashed with fastboot, so no solution using
Stock, Rooted, using Nova Launcher - Smartwatch 2 - Google Cardboard - Chromecast and many apps.
But started ..if memory helps .. after installing Cardboard 3D apps.

My phone had an issue with the screen. I went to the LG service and they replaced the screen entirely, so that's that.

i'm in the same case... I don't have any clues or solutions, i'm just wainting like a dumb... I don't know what to do, i always have to make the thing with the power button and the lower sound button to make it show the boot screen, but it glitch after few seconds... PLS HALP
My Nexus has a display problem and i'm trying to troubleshoot what the issue is and I'm wondering if anyone could help as it's not obvious where the issue lies.
What happened is I was using it as normal this morning and then the screen started flickering to different sizes/colours until it finally just went off. It was almost like it is trying to find the correct refresh rate and the colours appeared polarised at one point. After holding power down to reset it, the google logo appeared and then the spinning dots. Once the boot was complete the android logo appeared and then as soon as the main screen was displayed the display cuts off with a white pixelated mist and shuts off. The phone is still running as if I connect via HDMI I can see everything as normal however the phone responds extremely slowly. I can get into recovery however the screen quickly does some strange things, it flips like a mirror and cuts 1/3 of the screen off.
I'm not sure if this is a LCD problem as its a replacement from ebay that I've been using for a few weeks now. I would suspect that before anything else however it's odd the pre boot logos display fine. I've checked and cleaned all connections however it's still doing it. I'm running stock 5.1.1 rooted.
My opo goes to a blank screen after the oneplus logo appears during startup. I've tried flashing COS/color. However, when I try to reboot it just goes back to the blank screen after the oneplus logo, as though nothing has changed. What can I do? is it a proximity sensor issue?
I can boot into FASTBOOT but when i try to boot into recovery same black screen.
Some background info:
sometimes the the display turns on for a few minutes but again goes back to black screen.
I've been unable to power off the phone completely for a couple of weeks. Powering off the phone with the power button always resulted in an automatic restart.
i am able to interact with the screen the gestures work but i am not able to see any thing.
I've have tries fully draining the battery and charging again but same issue.
this started about 3 weeks ago.

Have you tried re-flashing modem adequate to your software?
Anyway I think you should contact RMA with this issue

Yes i have flashed the appropriate modem. i read somewhere that cleaning proximity sensor solves the issue, i'll try it and update here.
I want to keep RMA as the last resort, its takes too much time.

I've recently been struggling with a problem with my Galaxy S6 and I've searched far and wide on the interwebs for a solution, with no avail.
You see, whenever I turn my phone on, or wake it up from the lock screen, the screen flickers one or two times, but doesn't always turn on.
They keys are active, touchscreen is active, but no image.
Sometimes I have to try and unlock my screen two or three times to get an image, sometimes it turns on after the first flicker.

I am not rooted, everything is stock FW, I had android 6 stock and recently upgraded to 7 stock OTA and the same issue persists.
I cannot access download mode or recovery because the screen won't turn on. Only time it turns on is when Android is booted. Even when booting, the blue led flashes because the device is booting but I have no image.
Please contribute with some ideas, I cannot wipe cache from recovery because I can't see anything even if I try to boot recovery (or download).

Did you resolve this issue? If so, how? Mine started to do the same after a short fall. My initial thought was hardware but I can get into recovery and the screen functions just fine there.
