Question Carplay Resolution Problem - FYT Android Head Units

My device had AC controller APP and I wanted to disable it. and I disabled it by applying the patch on the topic in the link below.

Currently, parts such as volume up on the bottom of the screen have turned into buttons like in old android phones, but now when I exit the Carplay application, the resolution is broken. I have to close the app and open it again. What's the problem?

I've attached a video showing the exact problem.
When I open the carplay while the navibar is open, the carplay size remains as it is, and when I close the navibar, it does not return to its old resolution..
I have to close the app and enter the app while the navibar is hidden.

First of all: I have no clue about the solution (or actually resolution ).
Secondly: You call it Carplay (or Android Auto for Android), but it is not Carplay and neither Android Auto.
It is carlink, which is a reverse engineered apk to try to "clone" the functionality of carplay and AA as good as possible. Obviously that does not always work correctly and is still less stable than real, actual Carplay or AA.
I think that in some months time, the Chinese have reverse engineered this as well for Tesla screens for Carplay and AA and then it might work correctly.
Same happened with wireless carplay, followed by wireless AA. It needs time.

Why are you so offensive?
I just asked a question yesterday because I don't know. I am not as knowledgeable about these issues as you and I asked because I was curious, but you thought that I was accusing you that you did not know.

I think you need to read his post again. There's nothing offensive in surfer63's reply. It's a helpful, honest post.
He just explained it isn't official carlink or Android Auto. The Chinese reverse engineered it and they haven't make it fully compatible with your particular resolution and orientation.
Until the Chinese developers update it there will be nothing you can do except remember to keep the navibar hidden.
This will also effect Android Auto on vertical displays as they come from the same apk.

I just try to give a informative answer. Maybe not the one you were hoping for, but that is simply the situation.

I wrote that comment for this part. Because i asked something yesterday and i asked What does the problem and the microphone have to do with it?
But I think he misunderstood. Maybe it's because of me. because my english is not very good. I can't say that I express myself very well.

This is my last answer to this topic.
That remark has nothing to do with your question Yesterday, but directly to your question in this thread.
Secondly: I have answered numerous questions from you and provided you with more than one patch.
And you blame me of being offensive?

Question Ford C-Max Android Unit - My Feedback and help request

Hi everyone,
so i've bought a new android unit for my car. I have been checking the other posts in this forum but they are kind of "pro level" so i felt the need to clarify some doubts. I know you guys are experts, if you can help be i would be thankful. I'll also provide some feedback that maybe can help people who are considering buying it.
The unit i've bought is this one:

I have a Ford Grand C-Max manufactured 11/2015 (the restyled one), and i thought this radio would be a good fit (i've had other android units in my past cars). I bought the 6G+128GB version (TS6 version), with Android 11. The brand is "Navifly", however i guess this is just another brand variation.
1) Feedback
Positive- Fast and fluid Android experience - no lag to complain about.
- Sound Quality - a great improvement over the Ford Sync 2 original radio - better definition, better bass, supports higher volumes without distortion
- Radio has RDS - it actually shows the station name (we don't have DAB in Portugal, it is still FM) and the tuning quality is good
- GPS is ok. Not awesome, but usable. Supposedly, it also gets some Glonass satellites, but as you know Glonass constellation is sparser, so it usually only gets GPS triangulation. I use Waze, sometimes it takes a bit to understand where it is.
Negative- Quality of design and build of the plastic fairings: the plastic fairings are much lower quality relatively to the Ford ones. They don't precisely fit the car dashboard, by a couple of milimiters. I have it provisionally installed, but i'll have to shave some plastic when i get it definitely installed. Additionaly, the chines fairings don't have the metal clips/retainers that the original plastics have to get it securely in place. I've has to order some to get this sorted out...
- The CANBUS communication:
-> i am not getting any steering wheel communication at all (no volume control, no call pick up. This is the worst part for me
-> the information of the parking sensors is erratic. My car has 6 sensors at the front and 6 at the back (360º coverage) and there is quite an error on the info shown in this android unit, so i am not not trusting it a lot. Besides that, it is slow to react (couple of seconds), and the car should be drawn vertically (you brain needs to rotate the view 90º to get it right).
-> No Park Assist (automated parking) information is shown at the unit, so the Park assist is not currently working
-> I can get reversal signal, climate info (when i change it), and open door information.
- The screen. For its size, its low resolution, not bright enough, and it is very reflective. Not very happy with it.
2) Help RequestI need help to sort the CANBUS limitations. This is the canbus box they sent me:
I guess this box is not the most adequate for my C-Max. I can't read chinese characters so i really don't know what it says at all. I've tried to get into the canbus box definitions in the settings menu and have tried selecting other canbus choices with no avail: i couldn't get steering wheel info at all. So i've went a bit overkill and ordered two canbus boxes to see if a different canbus box solve my issues. I've ordered these two:
- Another Hiworld box (i guess this is a newer version than the one i have, so i hope they have sorted out the issues) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002718903038.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.27424c4dac8EZc
- An XP one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005002327630203.html?spm=a2g0o.9042311.0.0.27424c4dac8EZc
So i now have three questions for you guys:
1) Is this a FYT unit? Or a Mekede?
2) Will any of the new boxes sort out my canbus miscommunication?
3) Is there any place where i can get a firmware update? Or canbus firmware update? This is what the Android System settings show about my unit:
Thank you guys in advance for your help!!
I have tried other two canbus boxes from Hiworld and XP, with no avail. Still no steering wheel controls. Any suggestions?

Hi,
1) Mekede = FYT, not every FYT is a Mekede. But your unit is a Topways built unit sold by reseller TopNavi, so neither a Mekede nor a FYT nor a NaviFly. You are in the wrong sub-forum. Please ask in the general Android Head Units subforum
2) Ask your reseller TopNavi.
3) Please ask your TopNavi reseller or in the general Android Head Units subforum. There your will find the TSx series with firmwares and other information.
And by the way: It is a fake Android 11. It is still Android 10 (Api/SDK 29) as displayed on the web page. One can write a script that will set the "Android level" to any version you like: Android 10, 11, 31, 451, 10961, 4, ..
But it is a nice looking unit compared with the standard Ford units.
EDIT: This seems to be a FYT after all. Sorry for the confusion.
In my signature you find on the 3rd line the "HWGetInfo.apk". Please run it and share the created zip file.

Help identifying head unit for fixes and/or upgrades - PX6 RK3399 in a BMW E38

LONG story short I bought this used MCMW head unit, tried getting my money back but PayPal sided with the seller even though it's missing pieces and constantly crashes after about a week of use. Performance has been under par (compared to AVINUSA.com or Joying unit's I've got running in other BMW's) and the manufacturer hasn't been helpful when I keep asking for firmware to reflash the unit to see if that'll help. It'll run decently for about a week, then suddenly Waze, the DVR app, etc will continually crash leaving me to only use the unit for Bluetooth and that's about it...unless I reset it back to factory, reinstall apps and then buy myself another week. The touchscreen is oddly either unresponsive or too sensitive as I'm scrolling around, it's just getting frustrating for daily use. I just wanna see if anyone has any advice on how to improve it's performance so it's usable and doesn't need weekly resetting. Even pointing me to the correct forums would be helpful but direct links to actual flashable firmwares, updates, etc would be awesome.

Unfortunately, the forum crystal ball doesnt know what you unit is and from the hundreds of made up models and brands, the seller could be selling units of different types, from different factories, despite branding with the same model name.
Post screenshots from Android system information, including the MCU version when posting questions.
Doing this will at least help others help you, or you might find the information has already been posted or discussed here, yourself.

Hello, your unit is MCU: MTCH, the app crashes problem is doing the last updates of android webview and chrome. Maybe that's your problem too. Just uninstall and disable their updates, reboot the unit. Ignore any requests to update them. A firmware update won't help, this is the only working solution on Android 10 so far.
Ok, I'll try that since I did update Android Webview and Chrome during my lunch, yet Waze and my dashcam app crashed consistently on my drive home. I'll try uninstalling both and see if that helps me avoid having to completely reset the unit again.
Requested moderator moves to MTCD section.
Op read through MTCD section, the issue has been discussed already.

Disabled, cleared their storage and now Waze works again. Unit's still slow to respond (dragging apps for split screen took like 8 tries) vs it's stats but at least it works now. Thanks for the help.
I bought the same unit for my E38 but I bought it from Xtrons directly thru xtrons-usa on ebay I almost purchased it from MCMW until I figured out he is reselling an Xtrons unit even though he says he is not and says that Xtrons is rubbish. I can tell you it is the biggest POS I've spent $400 on so MCMW is right it is rubbish. I think it runs better after updating webview seams to be more fluid but I just updated it after reading this thread lastnight so time will tell, you understand.

I did resolve the noise issues by dumping the factory amp since I posted this.
Ooh I'm sure they're the ones exact same units, I guess the only saving grace of keeping this used unit is that it included all the iBus converter and another module I'm forgetting about but I can read everything from the OBC on the iBus app and it adds features like triple blinkers.
My current frustration with the unit (which happened to bring me back to these forums today) is that I wanted to see if there's a way to adjust screen sensitivity/accuracy. As I mentioned above it takes multiple times to move apps around in the app drawer, trying to run dual apps and even general use.

Yeah well. I am not almighty, far from it.
Why do you want an update? Is something not working?
And which launcher do you want to have? A FYT one? I personally use Nova launcher and before the CarWebGuru, but that is a personal taste and fully up to anyone.
I would refrain for any T'eyes launcher. So many people like the "driving car" or one of the other widgets that take almost 50% of your screen. This makes these launchers in my opinion useless and very unflexible.
Edit: Why do you want a Joying update? The uis7862 and uis8514a should be compatible, but as Joying and T'eyes are on the high-end of this cheap market, they only sell uis7862. Mekede has true uis8514a firmwares.

Nova is my preference. Don't think it is the best. I like it the most for my requirements, There are a huge amount of launchers in the play store. More car oriented launchers are carwebguru, agama and a few others.
You can try to extract the equalizer apk from the Joying firmware and simply install it on your unit and see if it works. If it doesn't you uninstall it from the Settings to get your original back.

Did you know which launcher has this quaint color I just saw It and I need this
up
I think it would be wise to just keep the firmware, the way it is: you seem not to have a lot of knowledge about this specific topic. So my advice would be, if it works don't change it.
On my EKIY D7, which I'm replacing soon: I'm also not to happy with the launcher. But it works and the update the reseller had send me, didn't even work.
And please keep in mind, people are doing these things in their own free time.

Question Home launcher - screen size

Hello guys. Is it possible to use various home launchers (like those from MarioDantas homepage - http://fytfactory.mariodantas.com/index.php) - for a Joying 11.6", 1920x1080 (uis7862 - 8GB ROM / 128GB Flash) - or do they specific need to be for a certain resolution? If not, can they be changed to fit - by an amateur like me ;-) - and will they be installed as an app (.apk)?
Thanks in advance

yes you can.
I use AGAMA launcher in mine, but haven't looked at what's new in that space.
The launcher should auto-scale to the correct format regardless of your resolution.
You may need to tweak a settings file (???com.launcher.???) if the unit overrides your launcher.

Thanks, I'll have a look

The answer to that question of @lr_man is NO, not by default!
The Agama and any other Play Store Launcher do. However, the "like those from MarioDantas" are FYT launchers.
Especially the older builtin FYT launchers are restricted to 1024x600 and 1280x720. All the launchers on Mario's page are FYT launchers.
You first have to look inside the apk to check whether it supports other resolutions. If so, then you're good.
The 2nd question "If not, can they be changed to fit - by an amateur like me".
First: I think there are hardly any professional Launcher programmers here , so your are among other amateurs.
Extending this is a really time consuming task, and then you need to "system sign" it to make it work. That is not possible as FYT will definitely not give their signing keys away.
There are several firmwares especially for your 1920x1080. You better search there and then "simply" install one of those launchers on your unit.
Or, like said: check the internals of the apk to see if one of the launchers on Marios page supports your resolution. Or simply install and uninstall.

And what's so bad about that? I write my own launchers.
There's no particular reason that a launcher has to be system-signed.
In worst case you can go for the "nuclear option" and resign your whole system.
AOSP launchers calculate the grid based on the actual window.

That is not the case with the FYT builds.
There are 2 central system apks that check every other FYT app for the right signature and there is a hardcoded key "somewhere" that checks which key has been used. And they recently "improved" that even further by building another check to check if the kernel.zip is signed with an official key instead of a test key. So that option for modders is also gone.
Both on 4pda and on this forum there are many who already tried to resign signle apks, partition zips, whole zips, whole systems, and other "desperate" options (I was one of them). FYT block everything that makes Android an open system. And recompiling doesn't work as they use closed-source drivers for their hardware (instead of using the Android Automotive HAL). Already several attempts have tried for legal tries where they have to share the source code when they adapt GPL-3 and other code. That simply doesn't work in China.
And with regard to "There's no particular reason that a launcher has to be system-signed".
I mentioned that for all those Play Store Launchers. And the FYT launchers from Mario Dantas' website ARE FYT launchers and therefore have the correct system signing.
Well, then somebody clearly has to work on modding/deleting the OEM code that does silly checking.

Has already been tried and is also blocked by the flashing binary (there is no flashable recovery partition for this unit. It is a closed source recovery only working with their flashing binary).
And they use dynamic partitions which means you completely reflash the unit as well due to this special recovery partition. Many people have already worked on this since 2016. I am not a good programmer, but there were some programmers that completely wrote a new system for some other Rockchip unions and then I mean from scratch. Not simple modding.
It is easy to say from a distance if you have not spent years on these units.

Question How to Disable ac controller?

Steering wheel keys were not working properly even though my car model was correct. I tried different models from canbus and chose a canbus vehicle model in which all of my steering wheel keys worked properly. Everything is working fine now, but the ac controller came below. how can i remove this?

Then it is due to your Tesla style screen.
I created a patch for another user in this post #1780 inside "General FYT based Spreadtrum uis7862 (unisoc ums512) - Q&A, Mods, tips, firmware".
Please check if you have a "/oem/app/190000000_com.syu.air.apk" as well. Then my patch will work for you as well

Yes I have it, I have 2 more question.
1 - Does it matter if the usb-stick formatted as NTFS or FAT32.
2 - How can I flash it?

Must absolutely be FAT32. Not NTFS and neither exFAT.
Simply unzip to a clean USB stick and insert it into your unit.

As you said, I put the files on the fat32 formatted USB-stick and connected it directly to the device. but it doesn't flash. should it do it automatically when i connect a USB Stick?

The script only worked on 7862 units. I now expanded it to also work on 8581 units.
I added it to the collection of scripts in post #1 (last line of the post in this case) of thread "General FYT based Spreadtrum uis7862 (unisoc ums512) - Q&A, Mods, tips, firmware".
Please download and flash.

As far as I know it doesn't matter whether you use Carlink (or Android Auto), the microphone of the unit is still used. And those microphones are terribly bad.
Nothing to do there apart from disabling the internal microphone and then use an external microphone. Never both as it will degrade sound quality even more.

I have an external microphone but I'm not sure if the internal microphone is on. but other than that, the voice of the person I'm talking to sounds bad to me. I have not received any complaints about my voice.
