[CLOSED] I'm offering $150 to anyone who can mod AirMessage to run on KitKat - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

I'm offering $150 to anyone who can modify the app AirMessage to work on Android KitKat.
The app allows users to send/receive iMessage texts on Android and is open source:
• https://github.com/airmessage/airmessage-android (preferred start point)
• https://f-droid.org/packages/me.tagavari.airmessage/ (excludes Google sign-in feature)
Long story but I'm trying to get it working on an LG Wine Smart H486 flip phone from 2015 for a special project. The phone cannot be rooted (I've tried for weeks using every available method). But also I'd prefer not to root really, as by upgrading to a non-standard firmware I'd lose bespoke flip features like flip open/close sounds and many more. So the solution I'd like is to get the app to run on KitKat instead.
It's important that notifications work when the port is done.
User @SoundDrill has tried and received this error, but thinks it possible others may have more luck:
In order to use core library desugaring, please enable multidex.
Regarding payment, we could do it via eBay if you set up a simple listing for "App conversion service". I have been a member there for 22 years and have 100% positive feedback: https://www.ebay.com/usr/tranquilbluetrading I'm open to other safe methods that protect us both.
Many thanks in advance!

Anyone able to mod this app to run on KitKat?
Basically I want to modify the APK to AirMessage (an iMessage client for Android) so it works on Android version 4+ instead of 6+. I'm reverting to a basic Android LG Wine Smart H486 flip phone (beautiful thing) for a video on my retro tech...

[CLOSED][APP] ScoreKeeper Plus - a free score keeping app. Could use some feedback!

HI all,
I'm somewhat new here -- been lurking a while, and have recently started posting. Anyways, I recently hit the marketplace with a free app I've developed, ScoreKeeper Plus: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.bammsoft.scorekeeper
In a nutshell, it's a score keeping app, tailored towards board games and the likes, with many uses. Additionally, I've included a few useful utilities for such events -- a highly configurable dice roller and a game timer.
So far, I've received perfect reviews from my modest user-base (~20 users), but I'm looking to grow that and get some feedback to further development.
The app is free and has no ads, so please share with all who may find this useful!
All feedback is HIGHLY appreciated. :fingers-crossed:

Why does the app need permission to read contact data on the phone?
The description says why internet access is needed, but the combination of that and reading contact data for an app that doesn't seem to obviously need the phonebook could look suspicious.

Hi sorry, I missed this question. Thanks to the poster above, yes it's to pick player names from your contact list.
The network permission is to pull a message of the day when you first launch the app. The MOTD let's me communicate with my users. It pulls from here: http://android.bammsoft.com/ScoreKeeper/MOTD.txt
On a side note, I'm quite pleased because there's been an explosion of new users, a 700% increase in the past 2 days!
Cheers,
Shane
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Just pushed a significant update (1.2.0). I added many translations and completely overhauled the new game screen.
Check it out!
EDIT: It's still propagating through the play store
EDIT 2: Is available now.
I want to reset my Note 3 to factory defaults. But I'm worried that my saved scores are gone after this. So my question is where are the scores saved and can I make a backup of it.
Thanks in advance!
Kind regards,
HS1986
@sjb933 do you have an alternative to your app or are you willing to put the app code in open source so it can be continued by others?

Modifying paid apps

Hi.
I have read the rules of the sites but I'm not able to decide what is the best course of action here, so I need some advice please:
There is a piece of software out there, which I do like and I think it is very useful, BUT it has some serious limitation, for example is not able to run on Android 5.0 or higher and it cannot be automated. I have contacted the software developer and I have asked for support but I was turned down. After this I have reverse engineered the application and started making the modifications myself (editing smali files), now the application works on Android 5.0 and can be automated, but it does not work on anything below 5.0, plus some of the procedures have been totally rewritten. The question is in this case is it ok for me to remove the original license and share the app, or not? It is the same application, yet it isn't because it is targeting different platform.
Your input is highly appreciated.
Thank you.
No, this is not okay. You're essentially taking someone else's work and modifying that work. Without the original app, you would have nothing to begin with.

Let me re-ask the question in this way:
An individual is producing and distributing a vehicle called Neo-is-teh-Awesome-one, but it only runs on jet fuel. Along comes a smart individual who knows that people are starting to use water for fuel these days and it's much cheaper! This change would actually make more people want to buy and drive tehawesomeone and it would really help the other guy out a lot! However, he refuses to assist the smart guy for whatever reason about the potential modifications, yet the smart individual figures it out on his own anyway. The only problem now however, is that it now ONLY runs on water which is ok quite frankly because water is the future!
My question is this: Can he re-name the car to Water-Hydrates-FTW and go ahead and re-distribute/produce it for everyone as his own creation?
Have a pleasant day and congrats on making whatever it is work for 5.0 :good:

publish app for android auto

Hello developers,
I wait I have selected the correct forum, if it is wrong, please move to correct forum. I have trying to publish an app for Android auto. It is a simple chatbot. So, it is setting as notification on android auto. When I have tried to upload it as alpha version in order to try it on the car, google play team send me an email that said the following:
“At this time, we are only accepting apps within the Media or short form Messaging categories for Android Auto. Media apps that use TSS engine readout for content are not permitted at this time”
App doesn’t used TTS engine for read or listen, and it is chat bot, there aren’t music, sounds, etc. on app.
Could you help me in order to understand how Google classify it in order to fix? Because I have contacted with them but I haven’t received an answer in a week.
Thanks
I have got to know the reason. messages should be answered by humans and not bots.
Thanks

whatever you choose I wish you good luck!
How about an Authentication or Bank app; a lot of experience and respect will come from that.

I think this should be possible by "Tasker"; however, it's a paid application, and therefore I don't provide a link to it here. Personally, I don't use it as I've no requirement for it. Many, many years ago, I used Llama and believe to remember it had probably similar features.
Regarding Tasker, here's the forum with tips & tricks:
